The next target for Adult Swim — 80s detective shows. Deadline reports that the late night block has ordered a new live action series, Hole to Hole, that will parody 80s detective shows.

Since I find Artie one of the more toxic characters on Glee, I didn't expect to be excited at the thought of meeting his mother, but she's going to be played by Katey Sagal (who was once one of Bette Midler's Harlettes) which suddenly has...

Judge Joe Brown: Cancelled Over Contract
Judge Joe Brown is leaving the bench -- at least for now. After 15 years on the air, Judge Joe Brown has been cancelled because a new contract agreement couldn't be reached, reports B&C.

According to Brown, he and CBS Television Distribution (Ctd) have had a profit split over the past seven years. Ctd says that profit margins have become slimmer since they made the deal because viewership has dropped. With the exception of Judge Judy, all of the court shows are down this year, sometimes by as much as 20%.

After not being able to work out a new contract with Brown, Ctd tried to shop a new judge -- Judge Geoffrey Gaither of Marion County, Indiana -- but Fox (which licenses Brown in the biggest markets) wasn't interested.

As a result, Ctd has cancelled the show and affiliates...

Nation descends into unmanly lawlessness with cancellation of Judge Joe Brown
Leaving a nation teetering on the brink of lawlessness, its womanhood unprotected and manhood un-promoted, CBS has canceled the long-running Judge Joe Brown, the syndicated courtroom show that for 15 years has been the thin brown line standing between order and chaos, crankily telling chaos to shut its mouth while order is talking. The Hollywood Reporter says CBS opted to end the series after a prolonged salary negotiation, which saw the judge who frequently tells his litigants to have some self-control demanding a raise on his $20 million-a-year salary, even as his ratings continued to decline. But exhortations for CBS ...

Former CBS Television Distribution president of creative affairs and development Terry Wood is returning to the executive ranks as president of unscripted and original syndication for One Three Media, the joint venture between Mark Burnett and Hearst Corporation that produces hit reality series The Voice on NBC and Shark Tank on ABC. “I have known and admired Terry for many years,” Burnett said. “She is a personal friend and a top-level producer with an unparalleled track record of success with quality programming — which is very important in differentiating television storytelling today.” Wood left CBS TV Distribution at the end of 2010 after 12 years. There she oversaw such first-run syndicated shows as Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray, The Insider, and The Doctors. She was also in charge of production of Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition, Judge Judy, and Judge Joe Brown. Jamie Kennedy Sends Up Courtroom Serials In ‘Kennedy’s Court’
Ever wonder what Jamie Kennedy's been up to lately? The veteran actor and comedian still lands plenty of film roles, but now he's moving on to a new web project. Kennedy is the star of Kennedy's Court, a comedy series distributed by Alphabird that mocks daytime court shows. The first three episodes of Kennedy's Court have been posted on the show's official website, with Kennedy switching between four ludicrous characters. Some episodes will feature Kennedy in drag as a Judge Judy parody, but that's nothing compared to the first episode, where Kennedy dresses up in blackface to parody shows such as Judge Joe Brown. The result is a sometimes very funny show where Kennedy preys on the unaware trial participants. A snippet of Kennedy's blackface can be seen in the series' promo clip, but for the full thing you'll need to check out the Kennedy's Court website or wait...
