Talamasca: The Secret Order – AMC’s third Anne Rice series gets a teaser trailer and an October premiere date
Image
A couple years ago, we heard that AMC was developing a third TV series based on the works of Anne Rice, adding to the franchise they’ve been building out of the Vampire Chronicles novels and the Mayfair Witch books written by Rice. Last year, the show – which is going by the title of Talamasca: The Secret Order – was officially ordered to series, with the plan being for episodes to start airing sometime in 2025. Now, AMC has announced an October 26th premiere date for the show and unveiled a teaser trailer, which can be viewed in the embed above.

This entry in the franchise that AMC is calling the Anne Rice Immortal Universe will follow a secretive society called the Talamasca that’s responsible for tracking and containing witches, vampires, werewolves and other creatures. Members of the Talamasca have already been introduced in the AMC shows Anne Rice’s Interview...

Interview with the Vampire changes title to The Vampire Lestat for third season; featurette goes behind the scenes
Anne Rice
Over a year has gone by since AMC announced that they had ordered a third season of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire – and that with season 3, the show would be moving on to the events of the second novel in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, The Vampire Lestat. The network still hasn’t announced a specific release date for the new season (we only know it’s coming in 2026), but Deadline reports that they have officially confirmed that the title of the show has changed to The Vampire Lestat! AMC also unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette, which can be seen in the embed above.

In this story, Lestat becomes the frontman in a rock band, something that carries over into the events of the third book, The Queen of the Damned. That’s why those books were mashed together for the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, where Lestat’s...

AMC Networks Has Renewed Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire For Season Three!
Anne Rice
AMC Networks has recently announced it has renewed the critically acclaimed series Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire for a third season, days before the finale of its second season on AMC and AMC+. The first series in its Anne Rice Immortal Universe, Interview has attracted a loyal base of passionate fans, excellent reviews and has the rare distinction of receiving 98-point scores for both its first and second seasons on Rotten Tomatoes.

AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe now includes three series: Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, which is currently in production on its second season, and the recently greenlit Anne Rice’s The Talamasca (wt).

In season three, resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller “Interview With The Vampire,” the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can—by starting a band and going on tour.

2 Years After Being Cancelled, AMC's Underrated Sci-Fi Show Is Being Revived By Rival Streamer
Image
A canceled AMC sci-fi comedy series has been revived by Fox's free streaming platform, Tubi. With a script from Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm, Demascuswas executive produced by Better Call Saul executive producer Mark Johnson, Myki Bajaj, and Kirk A. Moore, who also serves as the showrunner.

The comedic, genre-fluid, coming-of-age series follows a 33-year-old Black man who navigates the field of digital psychiatry while trying to discover his truest self, and stars Okieriete Onaodowan as Demascus, alongside Janet Hubert, Caleb Eberhardt, Shakira Ja’nai Paye, and Martin Lawrence. Despite having finished production, the series was axed by AMC in 2023 due to company-wide cost-cutting measures.

Now, thanks to a deal between AMC Networks and Tubi, Demascus will soon arrive on the Fox-owned free streamer as a Tubi Original, according to Deadline. The six-part series will premiere on August 7 as the latest original series for the service.

Tubi Resurrects Sc-Fi Comedy Series 'Demascus' Following AMC Cancellation
Image
One network/streamer's canceled show is another one's treasure, or however that saying goes. Free streaming platform, Tubi, always has a new way to reel in an audience; its catalog includes everything from classic movies to television shows, providing individuals with a free way to stream their favorite productions. It's also a great way for independent and B-movie filmmakers to grow an audience, as thousands of those projects are uploaded. In addition to updating their catalog monthly with fan-favorites, the streamer also has Tubi Originals, and a scrapped AMC sci-fi comedy will be added to its site after being canceled in 2023.

According to Deadline, Demascus, createdbyplaywright Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm and producer Mark Johnson, will premiere on Tubi on August 7. The series will debut on the free streamer, owned by Fox, after Fox struck a deal with AMC Networks. Demascus will have six parts and follows a 30-something year-old Black man...

Canceled AMC series that never aired finds new home at Tubi
Image
Unfortunately, there was a time not too long ago when networks and streamers were beginning to not only remove original content from their libraries (which is still happening) but scrapping original content that had already been filmed but not released. Max famously shelved a Batgirl movie that has still never seen the light of day, while AMC axed a number of series before their release.

Back in January 2023, AMC's list of shows that had been canceled in order to write down about $400 million in content and receive a tax write-off included Moonhaven season 2, 61st Street season 2, Invitation to a Bonfire, and Demascus. Moonhaven season 2 hadn't started filming, while Invitation to a Bonfire filmed four of six episodes, and 61st Street season 2 and Demascus wrapped filming.

2 Years After Getting Shelved by AMC, a Doomed Sci-Fi Comedy Series Gets Rescued by Tubi
Image
An exciting update has been revealed for the future of Demascus, an ill-fated sci-fi comedy series originally set for a TV release by AMC. Ahead of the show's debut, however, AMC Networks canceled the show in an effort to cut costs. It's taken some time, but the series has now found its home.

Per Deadline, Demascus is set to premiere on Tubi, the free streaming platform. The deal comes more than two years after AMC axed the six-part series. An exact premiere date has been announced for Aug. 7 with the show serving as a Tubi Original. The filmmakers and Tubi have also celebrated how the deal will finally allow Demascus to see the light of day.

“We’re excited to introduce audiences to Demascus — a bold, genre-bending blend of comedy and sci-fi that challenges conventions as much as it entertains,” Tubi's SVP Content Acquisition and Partnerships, Samuel Harowitz, said in a statement.

2 Years After Cancellation, ‘Better Call Saul’ Producer’s Unaired Sci-Fi Comedy Sets Release Date on a Free Streamer
Image
Demascus has been brought back from the grave. After two years in limbo following its cancellation by AMC Networks before its debut, the six-part sci-fi comedy series has finally found a new, free home. According to Deadline, Tubi reached a deal with AMC to pick up the show at long last, which is now being billed as a Tubi Original and will premiere on August 7. It hails from playwright and Clipped writer Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm and Better Call Saul executive producer Mark Johnson and stars Okieriete Onaodowan as the titular lead.

Originally slated to release in 2023, Demascus was axed amid a major cost-cutting effort at AMC that saw the demise of several series, including Invitation to a Bonfire and second seasons of 61st Street, Pantheon, and Moonhaven. At the time, it was part of a troubling trend of scrapping completed projects for tax purposes, as seen with Warner Bros. and Batgirl.

The third season of Interview With The Vampire will finally start filming this month!
Image
Last July, AMC dropped a teaser trailer for the upcoming third season of Interview With The Vampire, which will adapt Anne Rice's 1985 novel The Vampire Lestat. The first two seasons of the show mainly followed Louis (Jacob Anderson) as he became a vampire and moped through his long unlife, looking back on it with journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) years afte the fact. Daniel takes Louis' story and turns it into a best-selling book. In season 3, Lestat (Sam Reid) will take center stage and give us his side of the story. He has some problems with how he was portrayed:

That teaser whet fans' appetites, but it's only this month that cameras will actually start rolling on season 3. That information comes from TV Insider, which attended an Immortal Universe panel at the Atx TV Festival last week. I'll say it plain just so we have it on the record:...

A Galaxy Quest TV show is "being written"
Mark Johnson
It is hard to get a TV show made. Even being a successful producer with lots of popular credits to your name doesn't guarantee you can pull it off. Take Mark Johnson, a producer who over the years has worked on movies and TV shows like Good Morning, Vietnam; Rain Man; The Notebook, Breaking Bad, the Interview With The Vampire show on AMC and The Chronicles of Narnia movies from the 2000s.

Johnson also worked on the 1999 movie Galaxy Quest, a very funny send-up of the Star Trek franchise, where actors from a TV show that isn't Star Trek but is clearly meant to be Star Trek are mistaken for real adventures by space aliens and drafted into their ongoing intergalactic war. Folks have been trying to turn Galaxy Quest into a TV series for a very long time, but so far without luck. Johnson is also pushing to create...

'Galaxy Quest' Producer Confirms Series Script Is "Being Written"
Image
Original Galaxy Quest producer Mark Johnson has indicated that when it comes to the long-awaited TV series based on the cult classic 1999 sci-fi comedy, fans should never give up, never surrender! It turns out that Grabthar's hammer has not come down on the project yet, after years of being in development, which means there is still a glimmer of hope that the courageous crew of the Nsea Protector could bring another space adventure to our screens in the future, and we should remain on the lookout for further signs of life.

Johnson has several projects in the works, including TV adaptations of Galaxy Quest and The Holdovers, which he tells Deadline "are being written, so we'll see." It may not be the most Earth-shattering update, especially since he didn't reveal how far along they are with the script and this is one of many iterations that have been in development...

AMC's 'Immortal Universe' Franchise Set to Expand Into "Four or Five" Shows
Image
When Interview with the Vampire debuted on AMC back in 2022, no one expected it to become the hit it did. Least of all was producer Mark Johnson, who thought that the series would do well enough to warrant a second season, but an entire Anne Rice universe? That wasn't even on his radar. Once it became a success, Mayfair Witches came the following year, and a third series, The Talamasca, is set to premiere this fall. However, that's not the end of things, as Johnson recently revealed that the Immortal Universe could stretch to four or five shows.

Speaking with Deadline about his overall deal with AMC, the subject of his many Anne Rice projects was broached. Now with three firmly in place, Johnson was asked about the possibility of more being added to the mix. "We have a couple of other things in different stages of development," he answered,...

‘The Talamasca’ – First Look at Upcoming Anne Rice Spinoff Described as Supernatural Spy Series

The Anne Rice Immortal Universe only continues to grow with the third series, “The Talamasca: The Secret Order” that’s slated to premiere this fall, and new details and first look images have arrived.

The six-episode inaugural season is expected to arrive this October and will focus on the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.

Franchise executive producer and overseer Mark Johnson reiterated to Deadline that the new series won’t be based on any specific book, as the secret organization is featured across multiple Anne Rice works. “John Lee Hancock, who is a writer I’ve worked with a great deal, has created the world of The Talamasca, all of it inspired by her work but taken a certain amount of liberty, hopefully at the same time always being faithful to what she might have done with...

AMC's Anne Rice Immortal Universe's Next TV Series Gets an Exciting Update
Image
The late author Anne Rice has written many popular book series in the supernatural genre, and many of them have been adapted several times. In the 2020s, AMC kickstarted the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, which kicked off with a new adaptation of Interview with the Vampire.

The show, which adapted the 1976 novel, started the universe and was followed by a new series, Mayfair Witches. A third series is currently in the works based on the Talamasca, the secret society from the two shows. On May 30, at AMC/AMC+’s Atx TV Festival panel, the Anne Rice Immortal Universe received an exciting update.

The Atx TV Festival featured the panel Vampires, Witches, and Other Secret Societies: Inside AMC's Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Galaxy Quest TV Series Gets Encouraging Update From Producer
Image
Fans get a promising update about the long-awaited Galaxy Questtelevision series.

Per Deadline, producer Mark Johnson, who has his name attached to beloved features ranging from Good Morning, Vietnam to Rain Man to The Notebook, opened up about two hotly-anticipated projects. Regarding the possibility of both a Galaxy Quest and The Holdovers series, Johnson stated simply that "Both are being written," before adding, "So we'll see."

Back in 2024, Sam Rockwell noted that the film's surviving cast would almost assuredly be part of such a project. "It was a really lucky thing, that film. If there was a sequel to Galaxy Quest, we would be on it. We talked about it, maybe like a limited series." Rockwell added, "Simon Pegg talked about helping with it, actually." These statements came almost a year after the confirmation that Paramount+ and Paramount Television had signed Mark Johnson on to produce, all while actively searching...

Image
Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer’s 2000 supernatural horror thriller What Lies Beneath is heading to the small screen as the latest Hollywood blockbuster to be getting a TV adaptation. Although this still seems to be in the very early stages of development, Deadline reported producer Mark Johnson, who is well known for producing features like The Chronicles of Narnia trilogy, Rain Man, The Notebook and more, as saying the property is one of several projects being considered for TV adaptation.

“We’re very excited about the idea of maybe doing a television show — I’m not sure I should say this but I’m going to — our movie What Lies Beneath, that could lend itself to a very good, perhaps limited, perhaps not, TV show.”

Johnson has been part of the production team for some of AMC's biggest hits over the last two decades, and that doesn't seem about...

Exclusive: Mark Johnson is closing in on two decades at AMC. The Oscar-winning film producer behind such movies as Rain Man, The Notebook and The Holdovers started his run at the cable network with Vince Gilligan’s Emmy-winning Breaking Bad. It led to seven other series to date — and more in the works as Johnson has renewed his first-look deal with AMC Studios.

“Why wouldn’t I be at AMC?,” he told Deadline in an interview tied to the new pact. “They truly celebrate the story. You look at the success they’ve had, it is still very much the leader and the benchmark: good writing, good characters and good television.”

Johnson has become a franchise player for AMC. Along with executive producing Breaking Bad and prequel Better Call Saul, he oversees the Anne Rice universe, which spans Interview With the Vampire and Mayfair Witches — both headed into Season 3 after...

‘The Chronicles Of Narnia’ Producer Mark Johnson On Greta Gerwig Tackling Fantasy Title; ‘Galaxy Quest’ & ‘The Holdovers’ Series Adaptations
Image
Over his more than four decades as a producer, Mark Johnson has done about 60 movies, including The Chronicles Of Narnia fantasy trilogy; Best Picture Oscar winner Rain Man; Bugsy; Good Morning, Vietnam; Galaxy Quest; The Holdovers; and romantic classic The Notebook. Surprisingly, none have been turned into a TV series yet, even as Johnson has established a footprint in television with the Emmy-winning Breaking Bad and most recently the Anne Rice universe on AMC.

That may finally change. During an interview with Deadline tied to Johnson’s first-look deal extension at AMC, he provided an update on the long-in-the-works TV series based on the cult classic 1999 sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest. There had been multiple incarnations at the now-defunct Paramount TV Studios over the past decade, the most recent set up at Paramount+ in 2023.

Johnson addressed that project, now set up at CBS Studios, which absorbed sibling Paramount TV Studios, as...

‘Interview With the Vampire’: Jacob Anderson Unpacks the Gothic Horror of Season 2 (Video)
Image
With shows such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul under its belt, AMC has made itself a network where creatives can bring their vision to life as they see fit. Interview With the Vampire is a shining addition to this category of art made for the sake of making it (it also has Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul‘s Mark Johnson as executive producer). The Southern Gothic drama is a reminder of how good it feels to see the unimpeded artistic process given first priority. And Jacob Anderson‘s commanding performance as the titular vampire is one of the main draws. The Game of Thrones alum takes a deep dive into Interview With the Vampire Season 2 in the video interview above ahead of the start of Emmy nominations voting. Sam Reid, Mark Johnson, and the ‘Interview With the Vampire’ team sink their teeth into FYC season
Image
Forget the typical "For Your Consideration" panel. When it comes to showing off for Emmy voters, the team behind Anne Rice's Interview With the Vampire celebrated their second season with a bloody good "For Your Consumption" event.

Representing AMC's hit horror series were producer Mark Johnson, Lestat actor Sam Reid, editor Yuka Shirasuna, production designer Mara LePere-Schloop, and composer Daniel Hart. The Q&A, moderated by Gold Derby editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum, took place at Smogshoppe Culver City in Los Angeles. Watch the full panel above.

The artisans began by discussing their favorite moments from Season 2. Johnson said, "The one that stands out is at the very end of the first episode of the season, in the back of the truck when Louis [Jacob Anderson] is talking to Claudia [Delainey Hayles], and we think it's just the two of them ... and the camera drifts over and there is Lestat.

“He could seduce Clint”: Kevin Costner Convinced Clint Eastwood With His Writing and Now I’ve Questions for Taylor Sheridan
Image
I think a man’s persuasive power is biblical when he rewrites a whole script not to make himself look better, but to make Clint Eastwood’s role juicier… and succeeds. That man is Kevin Costner.

When I heard Costner rewrote A Perfect World just to convince Eastwood to co-star, I had to sit down, take a sip of strong coffee, and rethink my entire stance on who the real auteur of Yellowstone should’ve been. If Costner could woo the squinting sage of spaghetti Westerns with a pen and a typewriter, then what on God’s rugged, sunburned earth was Taylor Sheridan thinking by sidelining his creative input in Yellowstone?

I mean, what if he had been given the reins to write his own character’s destiny? Would John Dutton have been more than just a rancher with a penchant for violence? Perhaps a patriarch grappling with the changing tides of time?...

“I get paid to burn money”: Clint Eastwood Didn’t Care How Famous Kevin Costner Was When He Tried to Hinder Their Only Movie Together
Image
Ah, the magic of Hollywood—where the best of the best meet, clash, and sometimes create timeless masterpieces. But even the gods of the silver screen aren’t above locking horns. When Clint Eastwood and Kevin Costner collided on the set of A Perfect World, sparks flew. It’s not your typical behind-the-scenes drama…this was a more subtle clash, a battle of wills, where Eastwood showed why he’s called ‘the man with no compromise’.

But here’s where the rubber meets the road. The tension? It began over one simple scene, where Costner wasn’t quite ready for his moment. Eastwood, the seasoned director, didn’t wait for anyone, especially not for a star who was late to the game. Instead, he did what Eastwood does best: he got the job done his way.

Clint Eastwood and Kevin Costner’s tense collaboration amid creative clashes Clint Eastwood and...

Lestat's world tour is shaping up to be one for the ages. AMC has shared an awesome new poster for its acclaimed series Interview with the Vampire to announce that it is officially on track to return in 2026.

As you can see in the poster embedded below, we get a little peek at what Lestat's on-stage shenanigans will be like. The artwork shows a close-up of what appears to be a pool of blood on a stage with a microphone nearby and the mic cord shaped to read "2026."

Interview with the Vampire season 3 poster | AMC Networks

This poster follows the initial video teaser that AMC previously shared, showing Daniel Molloy prepping to interview Lestat, who is in full-on diva mode while on tour. That video also shared a snippet of Lestat's song "Long Face." It sounds like actor Sam Reid himself will be singing. The video is a total...

AMC renews Mayfair Witches for a third season, will start airing Interview with the Vampire season 3 in 2026
Image
AMC is building a franchise called the Anne Rice Immortal Universe out of late author Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witch books – and while we wait to see what’s going to happen with the spin-off series about the secretive society called the Talamasca, the network has renewed the Mayfair Witches series for a third season, while confirming that season 3 of the Interview with the Vampire series won’t start airing until 2026.

It’s kind of surprising to hear that Interview with the Vampire season 3 won’t be making it to the airwaves by the end of this year, because it was officially announced last June, plot synopsis and all. The show is moving on to the events of the second novel in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, The Vampire Lestat. In this story, Lestat becomes the frontman in a rock band, something that carries over into the events of the third book,...

AMC to Develop Great Depression-Era Novel ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ as Part of Next Franchise Bet
Image
If you’re one of those people who prefer a good book to the boob tube, AMC is about to make you feel conflicted.

On Monday, AMC Networks announced it is developing a new TV franchise produced by AMC Studios and “built on iconic American stories.” Up first: John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath.

“Each season of the anthology series will be devoted to a different celebrated work, historical moment, or individual narrative celebrating and highlighting the American spirit,” the company said. The Great American Stories anthology will air on the AMC cable channel and stream on AMC’s primary streaming service (out of a bunch), AMC+.

If you want to Anne Rice-ify classic American literature, who better to adapt the novel than Rolin Jones, who did the same thing with Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire (and Friday Night Lights, and Boardwalk Empire)? Jones will take...
