Mescudi told the court that he and Ventura met around Thanksgiving of 2010. They began dating in 2011, and he says that at the time, he understood “that she and Sean Combs had some problems and they weren’t dating anymore (per CNN).

In a just short of two-hour bail appeal hearing Wednesday at the Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse, Judge Andrew Carter rejected the proposed defense pitch of a $50 million bond, regular drug tests, home detention in Miami, no female visitors and more to free the much-accused Bad Boy Entertainment founder.

Arguing once again for the government, as she did on September 17, Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson put another shiv into most of the defense’s efforts. In essence, it came down to the twin blades of the threat Combs posed to others and his attempts, past and perhaps future, at obstruction of justice. “The indisputable evidence makes clear you cannot take the defendant at his word,” Johnson declared to the courtroom, with Combs seated nearby.

Sean “Diddy” Combs was ordered to be detained pending trial Tuesday after he pleaded not guilty to charges including sex trafficking and racketeering.

On Tuesday morning, the government unsealed a three-county indictment accusing Combs of various crimes related to an alleged decades-long pattern of physical and sexual violence against women in his orbit. Federal prosecutors charged him with sex trafficking and racketeering for directing a vast criminal enterprise through which he assaulted and trafficked women with the help of his various businesses from at least 2008.

“My concern is that this is a crime that happens behind closed doors,” Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky said, referring to the allegations of sex trafficking and more, in announcing her decision to deny bail pending trial.

In an almost two hour hearing in a New York City courtroom, Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky agreed with the argument put forth by the U.S. Attorney’s office that Combs is a danger to the public and especially potential witness in the detailed case against him. After their client entered a not guilty plea in court earlier this afternoon, defense lawyers pitched a $50 million bond for Combs and in-home detention.

Judge Tarnofsky wasn’t buying it.
