It didn't take long for the entertainment industry to cash in on the sex-trafficking and assault allegations leveled against Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Once those allegations surfaced, multiple networks set about scheduling interviews and developing documentaries about the rapper-turned-mogul's alleged criminal enterprise. Peacock's Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy took the allegations even further, with insinuations that connected him to several infamous deaths. However, Peacock may be forced to pay a hefty price for its deep dive, if attorneys representing Combs have their way.
According to Variety, the lawsuit was filed by Combs against the streamer, parent company NBCUniversal, and production company Ample Entertainment. Combs is seeking $100 million in damages resulting from the documentary "falsely, recklessly, and maliciously" assassinating his character by tying him to sex-trafficking and the criminal deaths of Combs' former girlfriend, Kim Porter, and the Notorious B.I.G., among others. Celebrities may no longer be winning at the Big Game.
An array of Super Bowl advertisers turned up with creative ideas that shunned the typical famous faces making quick-paced jokes in favor of concepts meant to inspire.
Nike burnished a host of female athletes backed by the Led Zeppelin chestnut “Whole Lotta Love.” Pfizer took to the Super Bowl screen to rally viewers to fight against cancer. Google tried to push consumers past their ambivalence toward artificial intelligence by showing how the technology helped a man spend meaningful children. Frito-Lay avoided the typical line of “snack-vertising” when it did an ad for Lay’s potato chips that saluted the farmers who grew the tubers that make the product every year, T-Mobile, which for years has relied on A-list cameos from John Travolta and Jason Momoa, in 2025 talked about technology and utility. Rocket Cos. used a version of John Denver’s “Country Roads,...

Instacart’s Super Bowl commercial gets by with a little help from some friends.
To stand out during Fox’s February 9 telecast of Super Bowl Lix, executives from the delivery service reached out to some of the nation’s biggest consumer-products companies, all of which happen to depend on Instacart to get everything from deodorant to frozen food on to the shelves and into the refrigerators of their customers, for the rights to use some of their best-known Madison Avenue mascots. As such, Instacart’s commercial stands on the shoulders of grocery-aisle giants like Procter & Gamble, General Mills, PepsiCo, Kraft Heinz Co., B&g Foods, and Energizer Holdings.

The Australian screen industry is full of talented and successful women, but this doesn’t mean gender imbalance is a thing of the past. Georgina Pearson writes.
Gender equality is an age-old debate; one that’s been analysed and pulled apart countless times before. Yet as women in the Australian screen industry continue to deliver on a global stage we must dispute its relevance – is there a significant gender imbalance within the industry, or has this argument become a moot point, questioned merely as a matter of principle?
When the list of films eligible for the Australian Film Institute Awards was announced last year, AFI CEO Damian Trewhella pointed out that eight out of the 19 titles were directed by women, arguing that “in an international industry where women are still significantly under-represented, Australia is heading in the right direction.”
And the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (Astra) followed closely...

Glamour model Laura Jones has claimed that Jack Tweed has "no respect" for women. The 24-year-old said that Jade Goody's widower has a "Jekyll and Hyde" personality and is only interested in sex. "He's 22 and in his prime and wants to go out and shag every girl," she told the Daily Star. "He can switch completely from this nice guy to an a**ehole, a bit nasty. SPC on path to Gavron's 'Brick Lane'
NEW YORK -- Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American and South American rights to Sarah Gavron's debut feature, Brick Lane, which centers on a young woman brought from Bangladesh to London to enter a loveless arranged marriage.
Based on Monica Ali's acclaimed 2003 novel, the film follows the evolution of plain 18-year-old Nazneen (Tannishtha Chatterjee) who lives a sheltered life with an unpleasant middle-aged husband (Satish Kaushik) in 1980s London. She stands in stark contrast to her free-spirited sister (Zafreen) until a Muslim radical (Christopher Simpson) takes her out of her shell and wins her heart.
Lane, produced by Alison Owen and Christopher Collins, is a Ruby Films production and is presented by Film4 Four, Ingenious and the U.K. Film Council's New Cinema Fund. Abi Morgan and Laura Jones adapted the screenplay.
Gavron earned a BAFTA TV Award for best new director for her 2003 BBC feature This Little Life.
The Works International's Joy Wong negotiated the deal with SPC's Michael Barker, Tom Bernard and Dylan Leiner.
