Wayne Gretzky’s Wife Says Canadian Criticism Over Her Husband’s Ties With Donald Trump Have ‘Broken His Heart’
Image
Janet Jones Gretzky, the wife of former professional hockey player Wayne Gretzky, said that criticism of her husband over his connection with Donald Trump has “broken his heart.”

>Canadians Boo U.S. National Anthem At Four Nations Cup

Janet made this claim about Gretzky in a since-deleted post on Instagram.

“I have never met anyone who is more Proud to be a Canadian, and it has broken his heart to read and see the mean comments,” she stated in this post. “He would do anything to make Canadians Proud, with his Love for Hockey and his Country.”

Gretzky, who started his hockey career in 1979 for the Edmonton Oilers, has recently faced criticism in Canada over his association with Trump. The president has made political threats about tariffs and comments about Canada becoming America’s 51st state.

Paulina Gretzky Takes Her ‘Hot Girl Summer’ In Europe Very Seriously
Image
Paulina Gretzky is taking her hot girl summer very seriously.

The gorgeous wife of golf pro Dustin Johnson uploaded a collection of photos on Instagram, summarizing her recent summer adventures for her followers.

Many of the shots were of bikini shots, suggesting Paulina is getting the most out of the scorching summer weather by cooling off on the shore or inside a yacht near the European beaches, lakes or pools, and wearing her wide array of bikinis.

Although Johnson is a golf-pro star, it’s his wife who gets the most attention. Her constant online presence allows her to flaunt her toned figure while wearing form-fitting dresses and, oftentimes, tiny bikinis.

In May, Johnson made an off-color joke about her, weeks after they celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary. Although they’ve been married for only one year, the pair have been together for more than a decade. They also share two sons,...

Paulina Gretzky Sparkles In The Sun In A Colorful Form-Fitting Dress
Image
Paulina Gretzky is shimmering this summer.

After sharing a glimpse of her fun in the sun on Tuesday, the wife of golf pro-Dustin Johnson switched out her bikini for a short sparkly teal dress with a matching purse and heels and then a more colorful number.

While Johnson is well-known in golf, Gretzky is better known online as a fashion influencer. The mom of two frequently shares snaps of herself in formfitting dresses and tiny bikinis, constantly showing off her stunning figure. Unsurprisingly, she was playfully accused of causing Johnson’s back injury in May as he made an off-color joke about her.

Johnson and Gretzky seem to be a happy couple, as they are often seen out on dates. They met in 2009 but didn’t start dating until 2012. They began their almost nine-year engagement the following year and finally tied the knot in 2022. During their engagement, they welcomed two sons,...

Paulina Gretzky Models Gear On Tennis Court, While Husband Dustin Johnson Plays At Liv Golf Tulsa
Image
Paulina Gretzky served on the tennis court as her husband Dustin Johnson began his first event of the season, Liv Golf Tulsa, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gretzky’s latest post on her Instagram shows her in a tennis outfit and water bottle with the caption, “same time next week,” with a tennis ball emoji.

It may look like Gretzky is becoming just as sporty as her husband, but it seems the post was solely meant to promote the brand Are You Am I. As a model and daughter of former ice hockey player, Wayne Gretzky, and actress Janet Jones, Gretzky has never been shy on camera.

During a recent tournament, Paulina attracted more attention than her husband.

In Oklahoma, Johnson has been paired with former teammate, Talor Gooch, for the first time since Gooch was removed from 4Aces Gc team and replaced by Peter Uihlein.

‘Murphy Brown’ Creator on Moonves Allegations: ‘We Support the Investigation’
The sexual misconduct allegations levied against CBS CEO Leslie Moonves were the biggest topic at CBS’s day at the Television Critics Assn. press tour, held Sunday in Beverly Hills.

“Murphy Brown” executive producer Diane English addressed the Moonves claims Sunday during a panel promoting the show. “On behalf of everybody on our show, we take the allegations of sexual misconduct very seriously,” English told reporters. “Murphy Brown” originally aired on CBS from 1988 to 1998, with the last few seasons of its run overlapping with the beginning of Moonves’ time at CBS. The company last week announced that it has hired two outside law firms to investigate sexual-misconduct allegations against Moonves.

“We support the investigation fully,” English said, adding that “None of us have had any negative experiences in that regard at CBS,” adding, “as far as I know no one on my crew has.”

English also noted that prior to the publication of Moonves allegations,...

CBS CEO Leslie Moonves Avoids Sexual Misconduct Scandal on Earnings Call
CBS skirted the issue of the sexual misconduct accusations plaguing CEO Leslie Moonves during the company’s earnings call with Wall Street investors on Thursday.

Moonves and other CBS executives made no mention of the accusations on the call, and questions were limited to those related to the company’s earnings report “in light of pending litigation and on the advice of counsel.”

Moonves’ appearance on Thursday’s call served as the executive’s first public statements since he was accused of sexual misconduct by six women in a report published by the New Yorker last week.

Stephen Colbert on Les Moonves New Yorker Expose: ‘Ronan Isn’t Known for His Puff Pieces’ (Video)
Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert took time away from joking about President Trump and Michael Cohen on Monday night to address the elephant in the room at CBS: the sexual misconduct accusations aimed at Les Moonves.

Colbert started his opening monologue by saying he’d had a relaxing weekend down in South Carolina where they don’t have internet yet. “But I heard there was an article about CBS chairman and a man I hope isn’t watching tonight’s monologue, Les Moonves,” he said cautiously.

“Where was the article?” he asked. “In the New Yorker,” said a voiceover. “Oh, it’s a quality publication,” Colbert replied, “Was it one of those cartoons? Was it Talk of the Town?”

Stephen Colbert Addresses Leslie Moonves Allegations: ‘That’s Not Good’
Stephen Colbert
Julie Chen may have dodged any discussion of the allegations against her husband, CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves, Monday morning on her show “The Talk,” but “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert didn’t hold back.

Colbert opened his show on Monday night reporting that he was away for the weekend in South Carolina without internet. “But then I heard there was an article about CBS chairman — and man I hope isn’t watching tonight’s monologue — Les Moonves,” he said.

He asked where the article ran — “quality publication,” he dubbed The New Yorker — then asked who wrote it. Learning the author was Ronan Farrow, he did a spit take. “That’s not good,” as he grabbed a drink. “Ronan isn’t exactly known for his puff pieces about glamping.”

The news clips then rolled, detailing the multiple allegations of sexual misconduct levied against Moonves. “Well, you know the old saying,...

CBS Chief Les Moonves Accused Of Sexual Misconduct By Six Women In New Yorker Exposé
Updated throughout

Six women have come forward to accuse CBS chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves of sexual misconduct in a much-anticipated exposé by New Yorker magazine.

Investigative reporter Ronan Farrow interviewed the women who allege that, between the nineteen-eighties and the late aughts, they were sexually harassed by Moonves and suffered professionally after rebuffing his advances.

Four described forcible touching or kissing during business meetings, in what they said appeared to be a practiced routine, Farrow reports.

“What happened to me was a sexual assault, and then I was fired for not participating,” actress and writer Illeana Douglas said in the New Yorker account, which published today online and will appear in the August 6 & 13, 2018 print issue.

All of the women who spoke with Farrow said they feared retaliation by Moonves, who is among the industry’s most powerful and well-compensated executives.

“He has gotten away with it for decades,” said writer Janet Jones,...

Ronan Farrow
In a new New Yorker story by Ronan Farrow, six women, including actress Illeana Douglas, accuse CBS chairman-ceo Leslie Moonves of sexual misconduct. The allegations against Moonves span over two decades, and involve unwanted kissing and touching that occurred more than 20 years ago, as well as other claims that occurred more recently.

Douglas’ allegation stems from her time on the CBS sitcom Queens. She shared explicit details with Farrow about an alleged encounter with Moonves, who she claims was “violently kissing” her and holding her down on a couch in his office.

CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Six Women, Including Illeana Douglas
Leslie Moonves
Leslie Moonves, president and CEO of CBS, has been accused of sexual harassment in an investigation published by The New Yorker. The article is written by Ronan Farrow, the journalist behind last fall’s Pulitzer Prize–winning story about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual abuse.

The exposé features six women accusing Moonves of making unwanted sexual advances on them, including actress and TCM host Illeana Douglas. The allegations date back as far as the 1980s.

Four of the women accuse Moonves of “forcible touching or kissing during business meetings, in what they said appeared to be a practiced routine,” while two told Farrow that the executive “physically intimidated them or threatened to derail their careers;” all claim that he grew “cold or hostile” after they rejected his advances.

“What happened to me was a sexual assault, and then I was fired for not participating,” Douglas said. She claims that he harassed...

Six Women Accuse CBS CEO Leslie Moonves of Sexual Misconduct in New Yorker Report
CBS chairman-ceo Leslie Moonves has been accused of sexual misconduct by six women, including actress Illeana Douglas, who asserts that Moonves had her fired from a comedy pilot after she rebuffed his forceful advances. The accusations were leveled in a report published Friday by investigative reporter Ronan Farrow in the New Yorker.

Douglas’ allegation stems from her work in 1996 on the pilot for “Queens.” Douglas described a meeting with Moonves in which he held her down on a couch and kissed her without her consent.

“At that point, you’re a trapped animal,” Douglas told the New Yorker. “Your life is flashing before your eyes.”

The allegations raise the question of whether Moonves will be forced to resign amid the heightened cultural sensitivity to sexual harassment allegations, even those that are decades old. In a statement to the New Yorker, Moonves acknowledged some past transgressions, but CBS has also disputed...

But a Walking Shadow: Franco’s Faulkner Redux Merely Serviceable

Continuing to thumb his nose at naysayers, James Franco plunges onward into his own particular directorial abyss with his second William Faulkner adaptation, The Sound and the Fury. Much like its predecessor, 2013’s As I Lay Dying, the actor-filmmaker manages a troubled synopsis of Faulkner’s enigmatic text but still remains unable to strike a visual resonance necessitating his undertaking.

Ambitious and a bit pretentious, Franco’s cinematic hubris may know no bounds, though it’s still refreshing to see him shirk the limiting lasso of mainstream sensibility in his personal crusade to create something meaningful. That said, there are several moments reaching a certain poetic pitch, collapsing a quartet of perspectives into a simplified triptych. Complex characterizations and the narrative resonance of Faulkner aren’t quite intact with this otherwise faithful transplant, but its first and third acts maintain a watchable melodramatic energy.

New Images Of James Franco, Seth Rogen And Danny McBride In The Sound And The Fury
James Franco clearly feels a connection to celebrated author William Faulkner. Last year, he went to the Cannes Film Festival with his adaptation of As I Lay Dying, a project that our reviewers Dominic Mill and Matt Donato called, in turn, “a case of pretention over awareness” and “jumbled.” Now, Franco is taking another Faulkner-derived film to the festival circuit - The Sound and the Fury - and likely hoping for a better reception.

Excitingly, Franco has called on friends and This is the End co-stars Seth Rogen and Danny McBride to join him in the adaptation, which he both directed and starred in. Joey King, Tim Blake Nelson, Ahna O’Reilly, Keegan Allen, Loretta Devine, Scott Haze and Janet Jones all also have roles. Here’s the official synopsis:

Directed by and starring Academy Award nominee James Franco, The Sound and The Fury captures the lives and passions of the Compsons,...

Tribeca 2014: ‘Palo Alto’ is an uneven demonstration of great promise
Palo Alto

Written and directed by Gia Coppola

USA, 2014

Regardless of the actual quality of Palo Alto, there’s likely to be some backlash against it similar to the one described here with respect to the television series Girls. Palo Alto writer/director Gia Coppola is Francis Ford Coppola’s granddaughter. The leads are played by Emma Roberts (Eric’s daughter/Julia’s niece) and Jack Kilmer (Val’s son). Val Kilmer himself is in a small role. Janet Jones-Gretzky and her daughter also have small roles, as does Talia Shire (Francis Ford Coppola’s sister). A number of Coppolas can be seen amongst the various crew. Palo Alto may not be strong enough to overcome that backlash, but it’s got more than a few moments that indicate a bright future for Gia Coppola.

Roberts’ April is a popular enough girl in her Palo Alto high school, but she...

Review: A Chorus Line
You may not have seen A Chorus Line but most everyone knows the song “One” thanks to its endless use in other productions (think Treehouse of Horror V, Phineas and Ferb, Scrubs) throughout the years. Since the play debuted Off-Broadway in 1975, it has gone on to become one of the best known musicals of the latter 20th Century. One reason it endured a run of 6137 performances on Broadway was its emotional honesty, bare bones set, and soul-bearing songs. As conceived by Michael Bennett, it was brought to life by Marvin Hamlisch (music), Edward Kleban (lyrics), and James Kirkwood Jr. (book) at a time when everyone was doing a little soul searching.

By the time the 1985 film adaptation from director Sir Richard Attenborough arrived, it was heralded as a return of the musical to the movies. Unfortunately, the so-so movie failed to ignite that revival and was mostly rejected by those who adored the film.

Paulina Gretzky Asks The Age-Old Question, “Do You Want To Touch My Monkey?”
Paulina Gretzky, daughter of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and the extremely flexible Janet Jones, has racked up over 175,000 Instagram followers thanks to her fondness of posting barely clothed pictures of herself. Thanks to her social media savvy and insane bod, she’s quickly becoming a favorite subject of the paparazzi. Their willingness to trail the 24-year-old on a vacay to Barbados with her boyfriend, professional golfer Dustin Johnson, paid off in spades when Gretzky was presented with the opportunity to pose alongside a simian.

The whole stunt was just as silly as it was sexy, so much so that we can’t help but wonder if she was paying homage to Mike Myers‘ performance as Dieter in the fondly remembered SNL sketch, Sprockets: “Do you want to touch my monkey?”

Brett Ratner Producing Flamingo Kid Remake for Disney
For some reason Disney has decided to remake the 1984 film The Flamingo Kid and they've brought on Brett Ratner to produce it. The movie is also being produced by Michael Phillips who produced the original movie as well as other classics such as Taxi Driver, The Sting and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. I'll be honest, I've never seen the original film, but it was directed by Gary Marshall and starred Matt Dillon.

The story is set in 1963, and it "finds 18-year-old Brooklynite (Dillon), the son of blue-collar Hector Elizondo, getting a taste of the Good Life by joining several of his friends at 'El Flamingo', a swank Long Island beach club. Wealthy car salesman Richard Crenna, the uncle of Matt's girl friend Janet Jones, befriends the boy and takes him under his wing. Thanks to Crenna's influence, Matt secures a good job at the Flamingo. The boy is bedazzled by Crenna's sumptuous lifestyle,...

Brett Ratner Producing Remake Of The Flamingo Kid
Tired of remakes yet? I sure hope not, because Brett Ratner has a brand new one in store for you. Mitchell Gaylord in American Anthem (1986)
After watching the men’s U.S. Olympic gymnastics trials, we already had our eye on 20-year-old Jake Dalton (pictured), who made the team thanks to his phenomenal floor and vault scores and large cheering section of supporters wearing T-shirts with his face on them. Dalton says he was probably seven years old when he started watching the movie on VHS and realized he wanted to be like Mitch Gaylord (the member of the gold medal-winning ’84 team who stars in the...

Paulina Gretzky
Oh, Canada. What to do? Paulina Gretzky had just cooled a scandal over her racy photos online by temporarily shutting down her Twitter account, only to stir things up again - this time on Instagram. PopWatch PSA: 'American Anthem' finally on DVD!
Mitchell Gaylord in American Anthem (1986)
For years, I have begged the entertainment gods to put 1986′s American Anthem, starring Olympic gymnast Mitch Gaylord and Janet Jones, on DVD. I’d given up hope. Father's Day Contest: And the Winner Is...[Updated]
Check out the winning submission, by Jonathan Good, whose father will receive one pair of Ceramic Speakers by Joey Roth.

[Update: Because we received so many outstanding submissions, Roth has generously decides to offer a discount on the speakers to everyone that entered. Just email service@joeyroth.com, copying your submission into the body of the email.]

First off, a big thanks to everyone who took the time to share their personal stories for our Father's Day contest. The submissions were superb, so it has been extremely hard to pick a winner.

We found that the best stories shared some common features: The song was linked to a specific moment (rather than a general sentiment); the song itself spoke to a shared connection, rather than a one-sided memory; and the music itself allowed something to happen, which otherwise might not have. For example, here's Vladimir P writing about how a Western song...
