For the 15th anniversary of the "Battlestar Galactica" finale, I spoke with several of the show's writers and actors for an inside look at how it reached that conclusion. One of them was David Eick, the series' co-creator (with Ronald D. Moore). I asked the man who resurrected "Galactica" out of its campy 1970s roots why attempts to keep the franchise going faltered.

You see, "Battlestar" hadn't even been finished a year when a prequel spin-off debuted: "Caprica," an ensemble drama set more than 50 years before the series on the eponymous planet (one of the 12 colonies razed by the robotic Cylons at the outset of "Battlestar Galactica"). The series debuted in January 2010 and wrapped that November after a single, 19-episode first season -- its planned multi-year run aborted by low ratings.

Next, Eick and co. pivoted with "Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome," a second prequel (but after "Caprica") set during the first human/Cylon war.

The 2004 version of Battlestar Galactica lacked LGBTQ+ representation, which needs to be addressed in any future revival. LGBTQ+ characters were downplayed or implied, with only one openly gay character and limited exploration of their identity. The show's lack of LGBTQ+ representation was a broader issue in the industry during the 2000s, but recent TV shows have made progress in diverse LGBTQ+ storytelling.

The animated series adaptation of “The Supernatural Academy” books by Jaymin Eve has been ordered at Peacock, Variety has learned exclusively.

Variety originally reported the series was in the works from 41 Entertainment back in October 2019. The half-hour series will debut on Peacock on Jan. 20, 2022. The first season will consist of 16 episodes.

There was some character building and emotional admissions that made it all worthwhile, but still felt like we were holding back from really digging into the meat of what this season is all about — stopping Chuck. Netflix is not renewing science fiction drama series “Away” for a second season, Variety has confirmed. The cancellation comes just six weeks after the show’s first season was released on Sept. 4.

“Away” stars Hilary Swank as astronaut Emma Green, who leads the first crewed expedition to Mars aboard the spaceship “Atlas,” called the Mars Joint Initiative. Green leads an international crew with members from China, Russia, India and the U.K who are all experts in the field. Tension rises within the crew when some members do not trust Green’s leadership after her response to a problem at the start of the mission. Its first season consisted of 10 episodes.

As The 100 nears the end of its seven-season run, the creator and executive producer Jason Rothenberg was joined by cast members Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Tasya Teles, Shannon Kook, Jr Bourne and Shelby Flannery in a pre-taped panel for Comic-Con@Home to reflect about their time on the CW sci-fi series. In addition to that, Rothenberg gave audiences some vague hints about the backdoor prequel pilot to the series which aired earlier this month.

“We definitely started the season wanting to make sure we didn’t leave anything on the field,” said Rothenberg about wrapping up seven seasons. He added that he recognizes the series leaves a lot of unanswered questions throughout the seasons that he wanted to answer and said that the prequel episode helped “fill in a lot of the blanks”. Some of The 100 cast and showrunner Jason Rothenberg took place in a pre-recorded panel today for Comic Con at Home in which they chatted about the legacy of this show and what to expect from the latter half of the show’s final season.

“We definitely started this season wanting to make sure we didn’t leave anything on the field, meaning there were certain unanswered questions over the seasons that we wanted to answer,” said showrunner Rothenberg about the plan heading into the seventh season. “And since I know people are seeing this after I think maybe the first 10 episodes have aired, you already have seen the prequel so you know that that episode kind of fills in a lot of blanks. Why was the bunker empty when they opened it in Season 4 just being one sort of question that I always had and we needed to answer this year.

Last week, 20th Century Fox showcased the first full War for the Planet of the Apes trailer, following a teaser that arrived in October. This installment of the Planet of the Apes prequel franchise is shaping up to be one of the most highly-anticipated movies of 2017, and earlier this week, fans and press members were treated to a special preview on the 20th Century Fox lot, where director Matt Reeves made quite the surprising comment. Early on in this episode my hopes got raised that we’d be getting to the real reason that the Drn series was discontinued, but that wasn’t the case.

However, that didn’t make the outbursts from Dorian any less entertaining, as he suffers wild mood swings having not been given a full recharge.

Michael Ealy has been enjoying himself as Dorian, and this continues unabashed as he takes his character in some obtuse directions in scenes that could so easily have been unscripted.

Between the wilder side of the Drn series, we’ve got a longer plot arc about Dorian wanting to live outside the Police precinct, and a narrative that’s borrowed directly from the Keanu classic Speed (1994). All that’s missing...

As I’ve mentioned here before, I’ve been a Superman fan pretty much forever. Superman was my first encounter with superheroes, beginning with watching the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie when I was very small. Through the years, Superman has remained one of my favorite superheroes. Sure, I love Deadpool (obviously!), and I’ve always been a big X-Men fan… and Batman… and Spider-Man… and I could go on and on from there – but Superman, the most unequivocal and steadfast symbol of hope and ethical humanity in the whole collection, has always been there in the background, informing my appreciation of the rest of the bunch.

The new Man of Steel trailer landed late Tuesday afternoon with a sonic boom that caused a seismic shift in fan anticipation. Now, in legitimate Man of Steel casting news, Variety reports that Richard Schiff (The West Wing, The Cape, Burn Notice) has joined the cast as Dr. Hamilton. For the uninitiated to DC Comics lore, Emil Hamilton who is either referred to as Doctor or Professor Hamilton, who is usually a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs, and has been both Superman’s ally and a villain.

In a late casting announcement for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel, Variety is reporting that Richard Schiff is to play "a character dubbed Dr Hamilton."

This is almost certainly the comic book scientist Professor Emil Hamilton, who was initially a villain inventing devices to take down the hero before reforming to become Superman's advisor. Alessandro Juliani portrayed the character in Smallville.

Schiff's credits include The Lost World: Jurassic Park (where he was ripped in half by two tyrannosaurs while trying to tow a trailer from a precipice) and as a series regular in The West Wing.

Other uncorroborated chatter, via Cosmic Book News, recently suggested that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, The Hangover Part II, The A-Team, Limitless) will appear in the Warner Bros film as Lex Luthor, in a cameo role that will presumably set up the sequel. A pretty good casting choice but so far just a rumour.

Clark (Tom Welling) brings Lois (Erica Durance) food when she falls asleep at her desk working on a story. She's going for a promotion, what so she can get that sorted before she gets married, ha. Clark tells her that her heart is in journalism which is a bit of an obvious comment to make. She hasn't been home in five nights and she's noticed he's been out saving the world a lot too. Like being in Bangkok right now, where he got the Chinese food. Martha (Annette O'Toole) sends them a wedding gift: the deed to the Kent farm. Lois thinks maybe she wants them to begin their married lives there, but Clark thinks maybe she wants them to sell it. Clark Luthor (Cl) returns to Smallville. Clark (Tom Welling) stares at Lois (Erica Durance) as if he's never seen her in a dress before. Chloe's (Allison Mack) never seen him this happy before. Oliver (Justin Hartley), Tess (Cassidy Freeman) and Emil (Alessandro Juliani) all toast the happy couple. Chloe: "to friends." Next day, Clark wakes to see an 'S' emblazoned onto the ceiling of his room and a ring on his finger. Then discovers Chloe in a wedding dress in the closet. She too wears a ring. "What did we do." Chloe tells him not to say 'consummate'. The farm is trashed. Alcohol isn't meant to affect Clark and Clark sees the champagne was a gift from Zatanna. They were put under a spell when they drank. The mind wipe affected them all. Clark finds his wallet on the limo and 'Just married' is written all over the limo. Chloe looked very Sarah Jessica Parker in her wedding attire.

Eric Stoltz might be coming back to weekly TV. He has been cast as the lead in a new Lifetime pilot, Modern Love. Report from Deadline.com:

[Modern Love] follows newspaper science editor Simon McElvane (Stoltz) as he faces a deteriorating marriage, the ramifications of potentially starting over and balancing his relationship with his adopted 15-year-old daughter. Unexpectedly handed the job of editor of the newspaper’s Modern Love column, Simon discovers he has a lot to learn about life and love.Nwcn has a video report from the set of Grimm in Portland. Sasha Roiz mentioned they’ve started working on episode four today.

Sasha will be back on Warehouse 13 next Monday. Alessandra Torresani will join him the week after that.

He's made reservations for dinner at an expensive restaurant, but she prefers to just have dessert at home. He promises her dessert even if he he has to fly to Madrid for cherries and hot chocolate. Lois wants to spend time with him, yet she was stopping him at every opportunity when he was coming up with all the suggestions and having booked a busy restaurant too. She'd like to pretend for one night that the world isn't crazy. The government has updated their status from vigilantes to terrorists. Clark calls Lois at the phonebox and tells her to look up, he throws petals from the sky and then proposes on bended knee. Now that's how a proposal should be, unashamedly romantic: raining petals from the night sky. Clark tells her she's "the woman...

First, there are two things to check out on TV this Saturday.

Hiro Kanagawa, Alessandro Juliani and Dmitry Chepovetsky guest star on Chaos, in episode "Eaten by Wolves," which airs tomorrow at 8 Et/Pt on the CBS network. The press release for the episode is here.

Red Faction: Origins, directed by Michael Nankin and starring Robert Patrick, Kate Vernon and Sgu's Brian J. Smith airs at 9 pm on Syfy. Bear McCreary produced the score by Jonathan Ortega. The time is almost upon us to say goodbye to Smallville forever. The hit CW series will end its epic ten season run with Finale on May 13th. That means there are only five episodes left, including tonight's highly anticipated Kent, which finds Clark Kent traveling to an alternate reality. The CW has released a 'Final Five Episodes' poster, which you can check out below.

Clark Returns To The Alternate Universe And Runs Into Jonathan — Clark (Tom Welling) is shocked to find a mirror box in the barn. Clark Luthor surprises him and sends Clark Kent back to the alternate reality where Clark runs into a very angry Jonathan Kent (John Schneider). Meanwhile, back in our reality, Clark Luthor visits Tess (Cassidy Freeman) and tells if she doesn’t side with him he’ll kill her. Lois (Erica Durance) asks Emil (guest star Allesandro Juliani) to help her bring Clark back.

Two Clarks are facing off each other in the next episode of "Smallville". Clark Kent finds that the other side's mirror box is still fine. While still processing the fact in his brain, he is surprised with the presence of Clark Luthor who sends him back to the alternate reality.

In the alternate reality, Jonathan Kent is very angry with Clark. Meanwhile, back in our reality, Clark Luthor visits Tess and tells if she doesn't side with him he'll kill her. Lois asks Emil to help her bring Clark back.

John Schneider returns as Jonathan Kent and Allesandro Juliani guest stars as Emil. "Kent" episode will air Friday, April 15 at 8 P.M. on The CW.
