There have been some notable actors to play Gambit in X-Men media but how do they rank?
When Gambit debuted in the comics in 1990, he stood out nicely. The Cajun thief had a sneaky side and a mysterious past, but captivated readers with his slick accent, style, and mutant power to charge objects (usually playing cards) with kinetic energy to explode. Remy Labeau was soon a mainstay of the comics.
The character rose to prominence with the 1990s X-Men animated series. Over the years, there were plans to integrate him into the X-Men movies that never came about. He finally got there with a couple of live-action appearances and many more in animation and video games.

Great sci-fi movies need great villains, and there have been some villains in recent sci-fi movies who seem destined to go down in history. Many of the best modern sci-fi movies are elevated by their villains, and compelling performances are vital to this. If a sci-fi movie does things well, the villains can be just as compelling as the main characters, and they can become just as popular too.
Villains have to push the heroes in interesting ways, so many of the best recent villains are designed to counteract the qualities of other characters. This means that actors who play villains need to be in tune with the motivations of their own characters as well as the other characters in the movie. An intriguing dynamic between the hero and the villain can make both characters more memorable.

Casting the right actor in an important role is one of the most important decisions that a movie or TV show can make. How this actor brings the character to life and their chemistry with the other actors is just as important as the story they're telling. Over the years, the film industry has been more open to gender-flipped casting, which sees performers of different genders take on roles initially written for or acted by someone of a separate identity. In some cases, gender-swap recasts improve upon the original movie or TV show, creating exciting opportunities for the story.
Most gender-swapped casting in movies and TV involves women stepping in to play roles traditionally portrayed by men.

For the 15th anniversary of the "Battlestar Galactica" finale, I spoke with several of the show's writers and actors for an inside look at how it reached that conclusion. One of them was David Eick, the series' co-creator (with Ronald D. Moore). I asked the man who resurrected "Galactica" out of its campy 1970s roots why attempts to keep the franchise going faltered.
You see, "Battlestar" hadn't even been finished a year when a prequel spin-off debuted: "Caprica," an ensemble drama set more than 50 years before the series on the eponymous planet (one of the 12 colonies razed by the robotic Cylons at the outset of "Battlestar Galactica"). The series debuted in January 2010 and wrapped that November after a single, 19-episode first season -- its planned multi-year run aborted by low ratings.
Next, Eick and co. pivoted with "Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome," a second prequel (but after "Caprica") set during the first human/Cylon war.

The 2004 version of Battlestar Galactica lacked LGBTQ+ representation, which needs to be addressed in any future revival. LGBTQ+ characters were downplayed or implied, with only one openly gay character and limited exploration of their identity. The show's lack of LGBTQ+ representation was a broader issue in the industry during the 2000s, but recent TV shows have made progress in diverse LGBTQ+ storytelling.
The next time Battlestar Galactica gets updated for a modern audience, the producers need to fix one of the biggest problems from the acclaimed 2004 reboot. Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper marked the first animated Barbie film to be a musical, as it featured multiple songs sung by the characters. Mattel's Barbie doll is one of the world's most popular toys, and before the live-action Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie was developed, a series of animated Barbie movies was released throughout the 2000s with Kelly Sheridan voicing almost all of the characters portrayed by Barbie (though she didn't sing the musical's songs). Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper is an adaptation of Mark Twain's novel The Prince and the Pauper, and it features characters in Mattel's Barbie universe.
While the animated movies are geared towards children, Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper received positive reviews by adult critics, and renowned comedic actor Martin Short joined the cast as Preminger, the movie's villain. As the first musical in the animated Barbie series,...

The ending of Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica reboot was divisive, but it could have been far more frustrating for viewers. The BSG finale was criticized for overt theological themes and deus ex machina solution. The BSG finale's reveal that Battlestar Galactica's journey to "our" world was preordained angered viewers who believed that celestial intervention removed human agency from the overall story. In short, the BSG finale was a cop-out that short-changed both the human and Cylon characters that viewers had invested so much time in.
No matter how divisive the Battlestar Galactica finale was, the show could have ended in a more abrupt, and frustrating manner. "Revelations", the midseason finale for BSG's final season aired on June 8 2008, ending with a massive cliffhanger that revealed the tragic fate of Earth. During the filming of the next episode, "Sometimes a Great Notion", production on BSG closed down in solidarity...

This Supernatural review contains spoilers.
Supernatural Season 15, Episode 17
Only three episodes left after this, which means this episode had some serious ground to cover.
The episodes in this Covid-19-delayed portion of the season had thus far felt a little filler-ish. There was some character building and emotional admissions that made it all worthwhile, but still felt like we were holding back from really digging into the meat of what this season is all about — stopping Chuck. At least that changed by the end of the previous episode when Sam and Dean argued over Jack’s role in stopping Chuck, and the pressure was on when they found that their world was next on Chuck’s To Do list.
This episode, “Unity,” felt like we really hit Supernatural’s stride for the lead-in to the end. In a unique format for Supernatural, the episode is divided amongst the major players,...

Netflix is not renewing science fiction drama series “Away” for a second season, Variety has confirmed. The cancellation comes just six weeks after the show’s first season was released on Sept. 4.
“Away” stars Hilary Swank as astronaut Emma Green, who leads the first crewed expedition to Mars aboard the spaceship “Atlas,” called the Mars Joint Initiative. Green leads an international crew with members from China, Russia, India and the U.K who are all experts in the field. In addition to that, Rothenberg gave audiences some vague hints about the backdoor prequel pilot to the series which aired earlier this month.

Some of The 100 cast and showrunner Jason Rothenberg took place in a pre-recorded panel today for Comic Con at Home in which they chatted about the legacy of this show and what to expect from the latter half of the show’s final season.
“We definitely started this season wanting to make sure we didn’t leave anything on the field, meaning there were certain unanswered questions over the seasons that we wanted to answer,” said showrunner Rothenberg about the plan heading into the seventh season. “And since I know people are seeing this after I think maybe the first 10 episodes have aired, you already have seen the prequel so you know that that episode kind of fills in a lot of blanks. Why was the bunker empty when they opened it in Season 4 just being one sort of question that I always had and we needed to answer this year.

If you’ve watched TV in the past 10 years, chances are you know Bear McCreary’s music. He’s become one of the most (if not the most) sought-after and prolific composers in television, ever since he came into his own writing the boundary-pushing score for the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series. He counts The Walking Dead, Outlander, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. among his credits. And this March theater-goers got to experience his music with a big screen presentation; he composed the chilling and thrilling score for J.J. Abrams’ 10 Cloverfield Lane. Today McCreary is juggling so many projects that he can’t count all his current TV shows and movies and video games — “I can’t even tell. I honestly don’t even know,” how many projects he’s in the midst of, he said during an interview at Cafe Laurent in Culver City, CA. The...

"You are responsible!" blares a sign posted on a side street in West Philadelphia. Seconds later, a fire hose blasts the message away. How's that for emphasis? It's a perfect note on which to begin "Home Again," the fourth episode of the X-Files miniseries, which is unapologetically blunt with its themes and emotions. Written and directed by co-executive producer Glen Morgan — who, along with James Wong, penned many of the original series' strongest installments — this is a story soaked in blood, sweat, and tears.Let's start with blood. Joseph Cutler (Alessandro Juliani) is a mid-level bureaucrat in the City of Brotherly Love, tasked with rounding up homeless people to make way for gentrification. He's the kind of unsympathetic pencil pusher who might as well have "Just doin' my job" tattooed on his forehead. But surely even he doesn't deserve the punishment meted out in the episode's tense and atmospheric...

This review contains spoilers.
1.7 Simon Says
Early on in this episode my hopes got raised that we’d be getting to the real reason that the Drn series was discontinued, but that wasn’t the case.
However, that didn’t make the outbursts from Dorian any less entertaining, as he suffers wild mood swings having not been given a full recharge.
Michael Ealy has been enjoying himself as Dorian, and this continues unabashed as he takes his character in some obtuse directions in scenes that could so easily have been unscripted.
Between the wilder side of the Drn series, we’ve got a longer plot arc about Dorian wanting to live outside the Police precinct, and a narrative that’s borrowed directly from the Keanu classic Speed (1994). All that’s missing...

La-La Land Records will release the long awaited soundtrack for Caprica: Original Soundtrack To The Syfy Television Series, composed by Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Da Vinci's Demons) on July 30, 2013. The soundtrack is a 2Cd set, limited edition 3000 units.
"I want to give special thanks to you guys, the Caprica fans. You've been so loyal and supportive to our series, and that means a lot to everyone involved," said McCreary. A German librarian has written a book on how The Simpsons has changed the way gay people are perceived. I’m always mixed about The Simpsons and its heavy usage of stereotypes, but it hasn’t shied away from repeatedly showing gay people as just part of Springfield’s landscape.
A steel mill has to have the most uncomfortably warm dance floor.
On the other hand, GLAAD is angry with Showtime’s Ray Donovan for its pilot where the Hollywood fixer worked for a star spotted picking up a transgender woman. Despite doing great work with gay, lesbian and bisexual characters, Donovan is part of what GLAAD identifies as part of a bad trend of depicting transgender people as subjects of mockery and disgust. I’m surprised to see House of Lies in the condemnations, my initial impression was that it had a potentially strong transgender storyline with the son.

As I’ve mentioned here before, I’ve been a Superman fan pretty much forever. Superman was my first encounter with superheroes, beginning with watching the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie when I was very small. Through the years, Superman has remained one of my favorite superheroes. Sure, I love Deadpool (obviously!), and I’ve always been a big X-Men fan… and Batman… and Spider-Man… and I could go on and on from there – but Superman, the most unequivocal and steadfast symbol of hope and ethical humanity in the whole collection, has always been there in the background, informing my appreciation of the rest of the bunch.
Some people say that Superman is a boring character. He’s too perfect. He’s incredibly powerful and can do almost anything, way beyond what most of us can fathom, and he’s constantly doing the “right” or noble thing. How interesting can someone like that be?...

The new Man of Steel trailer landed late Tuesday afternoon with a sonic boom that caused a seismic shift in fan anticipation. Though eagerly awaited, many have remained skeptical, and somewhat uneasy, about this so-called 'reboot' from director Zack Snyder. He did, after all, make what some call the most disappointing comic book adaptation of all time with 2009's Watchmen. And Warner Bros., the studio behind Man of Steel, royally whiffed it with their more recent DC Comics adaptation Green Lantern. Not to mention, there's still the mild stench of Superman Returns wafting through the air like a patchouli fart, causing fear that we could be in store for another snooze fest that fails at showing exactly what Kal-El is capable of on planet earth.

Last week, we brought you that since-debunked rumor from another site’s “Trusted Source” about Bradley Cooper (The Words, Paradise Lost) supposed cameo appearance in director Zack Snyder‘s upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel as the villainous Lex Luthor.
Now, in legitimate Man of Steel casting news, Variety reports that Richard Schiff (The West Wing, The Cape, Burn Notice) has joined the cast as Dr. Hamilton. For the uninitiated to DC Comics lore, Emil Hamilton who is either referred to as Doctor or Professor Hamilton, who is usually a scientist at S.T.A.R. In a late casting announcement for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel, Variety is reporting that Richard Schiff is to play "a character dubbed Dr Hamilton."
This is almost certainly the comic book scientist Professor Emil Hamilton, who was initially a villain inventing devices to take down the hero before reforming to become Superman's advisor. Alessandro Juliani portrayed the character in Smallville.
Schiff's credits include The Lost World: Jurassic Park (where he was ripped in half by two tyrannosaurs while trying to tow a trailer from a precipice) and as a series regular in The West Wing.
Other uncorroborated chatter, via Cosmic Book News, recently suggested that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, The Hangover Part II, The A-Team, Limitless) will appear in the Warner Bros film as Lex Luthor, in a cameo role that will presumably set up the sequel. A pretty good casting choice but so far just a rumour.

Like being in Bangkok right now, where he got the Chinese food. Martha (Annette O'Toole) sends them a wedding gift: the deed to the Kent farm. Lois thinks maybe she wants them to begin their married lives there, but Clark thinks maybe she wants them to sell it. Clark Luthor (Cl) returns to Smallville. As does the dreaded Realtor, Marge Manners to appraise the farm. Clark finds his things wrecked in the barn and meets Cl,...

Next day, Clark wakes to see an 'S' emblazoned onto the ceiling of his room and a ring on his finger. Then discovers Chloe in a wedding dress in the closet. She too wears a ring. "What did we do." Chloe tells him not to say 'consummate'. The farm is trashed. Alcohol isn't meant to affect Clark and Clark sees the champagne was a gift from Zatanna. They were put under a spell when they drank. The mind wipe affected them all. Clark finds his wallet on the limo and 'Just married' is written all over the limo. Chloe looked very Sarah Jessica Parker in her wedding attire.

If you can’t tell by now, I’m a huge fan of the steampunk sci-fi series Riese: Kingdom Falling which is currently showing on Syfy.co.uk and will air in movie form of the Syfy channel next month. If you haven’t seen it yet, the series follows Riese, a wanted princess of the Kingdom of Eleysia that has been overthrown by a powerful society called The Sect. The evil empress Amara has proclaimed Riese a traitor, who must evade her pursuers with nothing but her wits and the help of her wolf companion, Fenrir.
