10 Closest Friends in Shonen Anime, Ranked
Image
Shnen is one of the most popular genres in anime. It's a genre targeting boys and young men, featuring amazing fights, awesome world-building, and some of the best friendships around. While it might not seem so, friendships are huge in shnen anime. Most protagonists have a best friend they can rely on, helping to push them to new heights. Some of the best friendships in shnen aren't between the protagonist, but between two other characters who have each other's backs no matter what.

To be a good friendship in shnen, the two characters need to trust each other completely. They need to be able to rely on each other, and they also need to be able to push each other. A good friend knows their friend's limit, but also believes in them enough to help them surpass their limits too.

Movie Version of The Ancient Dogoo Girl Coming
As if Tak Sakaguchi, Noboru Iguchi, and Yoshihiro Nishimura teaming up to direct Mutant Girls Squad (which we told you about here) wasn't splatter-tastic enough, now comes word that the Iguchi, Nishimura, and Takashi Shimizu TV show entitled The Ancient Dogoo Girl is being adapted into a feature film. What will our Japanese friends think of next?

Twitch explains that The Ancient Dogoo Girl, which was initiated by Machine Girl director Iguchi, who then roped in pals Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police) and Shimizu (Ju-on) to direct episodes, [was] produced for a minor Japanese cable network available only in parts of the country [so] a healthy portion of Japan hasn't even been able to see it yet. But that's about to change.

For more lowdown on the project, let's turn to Outcast Cinema's Marc Walkow: The series stars 20-year-old photo model Erika Yazawa - whose assets are clearly visible on her chest - as Dogu-chan,...

Her Breasts Are Deadly Weapons! Noboru Iguchi, Yoshihiro Nishimura and Takashi Shimizu Join Forces For The Ancient Dogoo Girl!
Regular readers of Twitch may very well recall us mentioning The Ancient Dogoo Girl a good while back. A low budget television series initiated by Machine Girl director Noboru Iguchi -- who then roped in pals Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police) and Takashi Shimizu (Juon, The Grudge) to direct episodes -- and produced for a minor Japanese cable network available only in parts of the country, Dogoo revolves around an ancient yokai-battling warrior revived in modern times. As you'd expect from an Iguchi project, the lead is not exactly shy about showing off flesh and the entire thing is shot through with crazy creatures and unrepentant adolescent energy.

The big question, of course, is when people would be able to see this thing. Heck - a healthy portion of Japan hasn't even been able to see it yet, so what are the chance of it being seen over here? Well,...
