The Librarians: The Next Chapter has a new home. Less than a week after The CW pulled it from its fall lineup, the sequel series is headed to TNT. At that time, it was unclear if the network planned to air the sequel spin-off at a later date.

The series is a spin-off of The Librarians, which had a four-season run on before it ended in 2018. Callum McGowan, Jessica Green, Olivia Morris, Bluey Robinson, and Caroline Loncq star in the sequel series, with Christian Kane reprising his role from the original series. The fantasy series “The Librarians” is making a comeback on its original network TNT. The cable channel will air a new spinoff titled “The Librarians: The Next Chapter.” This comes as a surprise, as the CW network had recently renewed the show.

Dean Devlin, executive producer of the series, got a call from Sam Linsky at TNT. Linsky worked on “The Librarians” since it started on TNT in 2004. He told Devlin that TNT missed the show. This led to talks of bringing it back. Devlin said moving the show required “a little coordination,” but everyone agreed to the change.

The deal between TNT, CW, and Electric Entertainment is unique. TNT will produce original scripted programming again after a break. Also, this makes CW a production studio for the first time. Brad Schwartz, president of CW, said fans will love the next chapter.

One week after The CW confirmed that The Librarians: The Next Chapter — its continuation of the TV-movie franchise that begat a four-season TNT series — had been unceremoniously pulled from its fall schedule, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the series has been acquired by TNT, as one small part of the cabler’s mission to beef up its depleted drama slate.

The Librarians, which started as a series of three TV movies starring Noah Wyle for TNT in 2004, is heading home, twenty years later.

Earlier this morning, it emerged that The Librarians: The Next Chapter, a spinoff to the series that ran for four seasons through 2018, would air on TNT, rather than The CW, which originally greenlit the show around May 2023.

Deadline can reveal that the show has also been handed a two-season order, which includes a first season of 12 episodes that has already been shot and is currently in post-production, as well as a second season. The first season will premiere in 2025.

The move was a surprise for a number of reasons, most notably that the Warner Bros. Discovery network was returning to original scripted series, after a few years out of the game.

The TNT fantasy series wrapped up its four-season run in 2018, but the network just announced that it’s acquired the rights to the upcoming spinoff, The Librarians: The Next Chapter.

In a press release issued today, producers revealed that the franchise will make “a triumphant return to its roots” on the network where it all began.

After taking a $9.1 billion write-down on its linear networks business, in part due to the company’s loss of NBA rights, Warner Bros. Discovery is ramping up its investment in programming for TNT.

The cable network has greenlit “Debriefing the President” (working title), a four-hour miniseries about CIA analyst John Nixon’s 2003 interrogation of Saddam Hussein, in which he learned about the potential consequences of the invasion, the humanitarian horrors and geopolitical turbulences that would follow Saddam’s deposing.

The series is produced by Ar Content and Big Dreams Entertainment for TNT. Alexander Rodnyansky, Joel Kinnaman, Stuart Manashil, Michael Kupisk, Peter Gerwe, Shelley Browning, and Leslie Greif serve as EPs, while Cristi Bostanescu and Eric Tomosunas serve as producers and Krzysztof Skonieczny directs.

TNT has also acquired “The Librarians: The Next Chapter,” a sequel to supernatural adventure series “The Librarians.” The project was initially set to lead The CW’s 2024-25 fall season.

Fans of Leverage: Redemption are hoping to hear more about Season 3. Here's an update on when the show will return!

Leverage was a great hit for TNT when it debuted in 2008. The plotline was Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton), a former insurance fraud investigator, bands with a pack of crooks: grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman), thief Parker (Beth Reisgraf), "hitter" Eliot (Christian Kane) and hacker Hardison (Aldis Hodge). The group pulls con games and thefts to bring down the rich and corrupt and give the proceeds to the victims of such crooks. 

The show ran five seasons, ending in 2012. In 2021, Freevee revived it as Leverage: Redemption. The plotline was Nate had died and the rest of the team reunited with Noah Wyle as Harry, a former corporate lawyer who had seen the light to help them out. Hodge's movie career meant Hardison was mostly absent with Aleyse Shannon joining as new hacker Brenna.

After almost a year of radio silence, we have some good news to report about Leverage: Redemption.

The fan-favorite reboot has been renewed for a third season, which is set to air in 2024.

There is a significant change on the horizon for the series.

It will no longer be a Freevee original and has been shifted to Prime Video for the next season.

No reason for the change in streaming home has been given, but it's probably thanks to the devoted audience that has embraced the show since it premiered in July 2021.

“Leverage: Redemption” has been renewed for Season 3, but will be changing platforms. The first two seasons aired on Amazon’s Freevee, but Season 3 will debut on sister streamer Prime Video in 2024 instead.

The move is significant, as “Leverage: Redemption,” a revival of the TNT series “Leverage,” was one of the major scripted titles available on Freevee. The show was ordered to series in 2020, when Freevee was still branded as IMDb TV. Freevee’s biggest scripted series at present is “Bosch: Legacy,” while a spinoff of that show was recently ordered at Prime Video as well.

Amazon Freevee is saying g’day to an iconic franchise next month, setting a Monday, Sept. 18 premiere for Neighbours: A New Chapter — and now we have a shiny new trailer to go with it.

A New Chapter is a direct continuation of Neighbours, which originally aired on Aussie TV for 38 seasons from 1985 to 2022. In season two, Alex will be questioning his place on the island, but with the help of his trusted friends, he will discover a renewed sense of family in paradise!

“There’s never been an American series filmed in the Philippines,” star Kane told Tell-Tale TV. “I feel like we know what Korea looks like, we know what Japan looks like and we know what China looks like because we’ve seen films that they’ve been featured in.

After the Leverage: Redemption Season 2 finale, executive producer Dean Devlin told us that Christian Kane would say that his character, hitter Eliot Spencer, could never be redeemed. He was right. While the last episode we saw of the Freevee series (in January) saw grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman) face her past and let go of her guilt, Eliot didn’t think he’d ever get to that point, not with what he’s done. And Kane agrees. When TV Insider spoke with Kane recently, we asked him about that, the future of the show (it has yet to be renewed or canceled), and much more. Is there any word on a Season 3 of Leverage: Redemption? Christian Kane: We have no idea. The writers’ strike has really put us — there’s nothing anybody can do right now, you know what I mean? Everybody’s hands are sort of tied with this thing.

The second season of original series “Almost Paradise” is set to premiere on Freevee on July 21. When hypertension forces DEA agent Alex Walker (played by Christian Kane) into early retirement, he moves to the Philippines in hopes of a quieter life. But unfortunately for him, he can’t avoid danger. Soon, the local police ask him to help solve a series of serious crimes.

Also coming to Amazon’s free streaming service in July is the incredibly meta action series “Ze Network.” In the show, David Hasselhoff plays himself as he takes a gig at an English-language theater in Germany — and we all know that Germans love David Hasselhoff. However, once there, he is recruited into an elite society of super-spies, who must work together to prevent a dangerous plot from striking the nation.

TVLine can reveal that Lindsay Sloane — who played Kevin and Winnie’s high school friend Alice Pedermeir in the original ABC comedy, and whose previous TV credits also include Sabrina the Teenage Witch and 2015’s The Odd Couple — will portray Brad Hitman’s mother Judy in an upcoming Season 2 episode.

“Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers” is set to debut its second, seven-episode season on Aug. 6 on HBO and Max. Christian Kane (Leverage: Redemption) returns to lead the cast of Amazon Freevee’s Almost Paradise season two as a former DEA agent who’s yanked back into that world after retiring to an island paradise. Freevee’s just launched a new official trailer for the upcoming season which is set to premiere July 21, 2023.

All 10 episodes debut on July 21st, with Art Acuña (What We Could Be) and Samantha Richelle back as series regulars.

Dean Devlin (The Ark) and Gary Rosen (The Librarians) guide the series as co-showrunners and executive producers. Electric Entertainment’s Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson also serve as executive producers.

Yes, the Kane-led drama is (finally) returning for its second season, now on Amazon Freevee, on Friday, July 21. (The first season aired on WGN America in early 2020.) At one point, we didn't think Almost Paradise Season 2 would see the light of day.

The series premiered in 2020 on WGN America and picked up many passionate fans along the way.

The team-up of Christian Kane and Dean Devlin always leads to magic, so we were left in shock when the series was let go by the cable network.

Thankfully, Amazon Freevee stepped in and picked up Almost Paradise Season 2, and it premieres this summer.

As revealed Monday by TV Line, all ten episodes of Almost Paradise Season 2 will wash up on the free streaming service on Friday, July 21.

It will be available in the U.S. and the UK on that date, with other territories likely following shortly after.

Kane returns to star along with returning executive producers and co-showrunners Devlin and Gary Rosen.

Kane plays Alex Walker, a former U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent forced into early retirement.

It is at long last time for Christian Kane and friends to return to Almost Paradise.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Season 2 of the action drama will premiere all 10 episodes on Amazon’s Freevee on Friday, July 21, in the U.S. and UK.

The CW is reopening the book on The Librarians, ordering a spinoff of the TNT series five years after its cancellation.

Aptly titled The Librarians: The Next Chapter, the sequel will center on “a ‘Librarian’ from the past, who time traveled to the present, and now finds himself stuck here,” according to the cryptic logline. “When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of Librarians.”

The show follows the Leverage crew made up of the Grifter, the Hitter, the Thief and the Hacker, as they seek to make the world a better place by using each of their talents to level the playing field in the world where the rich and powerful normally get away their crimes.

Beth Riesgraf, who plays Parker, and Aleyse Shannon, who plays Breanna Casey, recently sat down for a conversation with uInterview founder Erik Meers and they revealed that there was a lot of singing going on on set.

“I can tell you what our favorite song was,” Shannon began before launching into a little jingle of “Beth and Aleyse day on set.”

“Basically, every time we get to work together, we do a happy dance and it varies,” Riesgraf added. “I go out of key because she can sing like a freaking angel.
