Warwick Davis has credited his late co-star Val Kilmer as "the reason" he made it through the production of Ron Howard's 1998 fantasy-adventure film Willow. Davis starred as the movie's titular character, Willow Ufgood, while Kilmer played the charmingly offbeat mercenary and swordsman Madmartigan — but it turns out that his skills didn't stop at those he demonstrated in combat; he was also a spirited "leader" who spurred on his colleagues. Davis told Entertainment Weekly at the opening of Universal Epic Universe in Orlando:
"He's really the reason I got through the making of the film Willow because if ever I was tired, exhausted, fed up, cold, he'd say, 'Come on, keep going!' And he'd be the kind of leader of the army, keeping us going. He was a beautiful man."
Davis joins a chorus of Hollywood stars who have paid tribute and shared fond memories of Kilmer in the wake of his death.

Everyone’s favorite Teen Wolf sidekick is Stiles Stilinski, and without Dylan O’Brien, Stiles would not be nearly as well-known of a character, making Teen Wolf one of Dylan O’Brien’s best movies and TV shows. O’Brien got his big break with Teen Wolf after making videos and sharing them online. Since he got that big break in 2011, O’Brien has gone on to have a varied career in Hollywood.
O’Brien did not use Teen Wolf to jump into other high school or teen projects, which was likely a good decision on his part. Because of that, he is not simply known as a teen actor or someone whose best roles are all in his teen years. Instead, O’Brien has had a variety of action, comedy, drama, and thriller roles that show his versatility as an actor and make up his best movies and TV shows.

Warwick Davis, recognized for his roles in “Harry Potter,” “Star Wars,” and the original “Willow,” has publicly criticized Disney+’s decision-making regarding the “Willow” series, highlighting a broader issue within the streaming industry.
The Show’s Fate
Disney+’s “Willow” series, a much-anticipated sequel to the 1988 fantasy film, was canceled after its first season in March 2023. The decision was part of Disney’s financial strategy to streamline content for cost efficiency. However, the real sting came when Disney+ removed the series from its platform in May 2023, effectively erasing it from existence for viewers.
Davis’s Outrage
On X (formerly known as Twitter), Davis shared a behind-the-scenes image from the series, alongside his frustration: “It’s a travesty that @DisneyPlus value shareholders over subscribers in their creative decision-making.” This statement reflects his disappointment with Disney’s prioritization of financial gain over artistic legacy and viewer satisfaction. Warwick Davis has something to say to Disney as he was reminded of the way they scrubbed the legacy sequel series Willow from Disney+. The prolific actor, who became famous playing mulliple characters in franchises like Harry Potter and Star Wars, was known to many as Willow Ufgood, the character that appeared with Val Kilmer's Madmartigan in the classic '80s fantasy movie. The veteran actor is not Ok with the controversial decision to remove the series from Disney+, the streaming platform where most Disney-owned franchises make their return (most of them in TV format).
Davis posted a photo of himself as Willow on X/Twitter, and he called out Disney+ for making sure shareholders were happy, regardless of what subscribers felt. The caption on his post reads: “This image just came up as a photo memory. A BTS shot from the #Willow Series. It’s a travesty that...

When Willow was unceremoniously dumped by Disney+, it almost felt like a betrayal to the character. Then again, a lot of people felt the show did the same to the movie. Either way, it left those directly involved with the show out of a job that at the very least gave a shot of nostalgia. Now, you can’t even find Willow on Disney+ at all, as if its entire existence is being wiped away by the House of Mouse. Close to two years after the final episode, star Warwick Davis thinks the removal is a kick in the face.
Warwick Davis took to social media this week to express his disdain for Willow being unavailable on Disney+, writing in part, “This image just came up as a photo memory. A BTS shot from the #Willow Series. It’s a travesty that @DisneyPlus value shareholders over subscribers in their creative decision-making.

1988 fantasy adventure film Willow had its reputation tainted a little recently, when Disney made the decision to delete the sequel series from Disney+. While the show was not given the best reception, fans were even less impressed when the show vanished without trace, making it unavailable to watch anywhere, in any form. However, they may be appeased by the news that the original movie is about to get a huge 4K Blu-ray upgrade.
Willow is a fantasy adventure that was written by Star Wars creator George Lucas, directed by Ron Howard, and starred Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer as the titular would-be sorcerer and a disgraced knight who assists him on a quest, respectively. The film is regarded as a cult classic, and has continued to grow its fanbase over the last three decades, particularly among fans of Kilmer.

Ron Howard's 1988 fantasy film "Willow" was a striking hit when it was first released, mixing Tolkien-like wizard magic with traditional "Star Wars"-like story beats. The title character (Warwick Davis) was an innocent Nelwyn sorcerer who finds an abandoned human infant in his remote village. This infant was born with a mystical birthmark, implying that she would bring about the downfall of the evil Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh). The birthmark also explains why hellhounds seem to be on its tail. Willow decides to leave home and return the baby to her parents. Along the way, he'll fall into the company of a wisecracking criminal named Madmartigan (Val Kilmer), and several other co-adventurers besides.
The film was a notable hit, making over $137 million on a $36 million budget, although it wasn't a runaway success. It did, however, face still competition that year from films like "Big," "Rain Man," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?...

Ron Howard has directed numerous acclaimed films across various genres. He started as an actor in two of the most popular television shows: The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days. Later in his career, he switched gears toward directing. Starting out with a flopped film called Grand Theft Auto, his directorial career only improved from there.
As Howard honed the craft of directing films, he mastered blending tension, drama and humor. Today, Howard is one of the most prestigious and accomplished directors. Some of his films have had a large cultural impact.

The Night Court reboot is returning for a third season, and it's happening sooner than most fans expected. The NBC hit show, after two successful seasons, will hit the platform again this fall. Led by The Big Bang Theory's lead star Melissa Rauch and the series' own John Larroquette, the upcoming season will feature the return of both, along with the series' usual fun-filled drama.
Night Court Season 2 left fans reeling from a possible blood connection between Dan and Jake. With Olivia's actor leaving the show, Dan will soon learn about another surprise return of someone from his past. Season 3 will no doubt be an important season for Dan, though the character has been through a lot already in the past two seasons. The upcoming season will likely see the prospector again being wrapped up in some sticky situations.

Alden Ehrenreich is ready to reprise the role of Han Solo. The actor, who portrayed a younger version of the character made famous by Han Solo in 2016's Solo: A Star Wars Story, recently shared what it would take for him to return to the Star Wars galaxy.
While speaking with Access Hollywood at D23 to promote Marvel Studios' Ironheart, Ehrenreich revealed that he would be open to returning as Han Solo, but only "if it's the right version of it." He explained, "You know, it's such a fun character, and the story that I did is kind of the making of Han Solo. As the latest installment in the long-running Star Wars franchise, the Disney+ show The Acolyte centers on events that occurred a century before The Phantom Menace. While critics have given it a kind reception, the Star Wars fanbase has been heavily divided. Nevertheless, with this unexplored period in the popular sci-fi cinematic universe, The Acolyte introduces new characters to the growing lore. Along with these new characters, great talent is hired to portray them.
Given its popularity and ongoing legacy, Star Wars has had a knack for assembling well-established actors while also giving smaller names a chance to shine. Amandla Stenberg's dual performance as Mae and Osha and Lee Jung-jae's portrayal of Master Sol are just a few standout elements of The Acolyte. Actor Glen Powell has been landing many major roles, but he can still recall the struggles he's had with missing out on major parts he'd auditioned for in the past. One was for a huge role as a fan favorite character in the Star Wars franchise.
In an interview with GQ, Powell commented on some of the roles he's lost. One was a big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he auditioned for Captain America, the role that ultimately went to Chris Evans. Powell said he also studied Ben Foster's work to audition for a "bad cowboy" type in Cowboys & Aliens, and as luck would have it, Foster auditioned for the very same role. Both actors were passed over for that particular role, which went to The Batman star Paul Dano. Another one that stung, according to Powell, was when Scott Eastwood landed the role he wanted in The Longest Ride.

Do you remember the “Willow” show on Disney+? You might not, as it was released and then removed from the service within six months of its release. The show was meant to be a sequel to the 1988 film “Willow,” starring Warwick Davis, but now it’s just gone.
It seems that Disney may have pulled it over the cost of the series and the lack of viewership.
The show cost $156.8 million, which is about $19.6 million per episode! $53 million was spent on the London office of Industrial Light and Magic (Ilm).
Early reports estimated the total to be closer to $100 – $105 million. That is true, but only if you don’t count the money spent at Ilm.
In a new Forbes report, Caroline Reid describes how the show was partially shot in the UK to get some financial credit from their government. However, the film was filed under a shell company called Barking Lion Productions.

This post contains minor spoilers for "Solo: A Star Wars Story."
Every "Star Wars" fan knows about Han Solo's not-so-humble boast about the Millenium Falcon, a ship that purportedly "made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs." Although this sounds cool, it is a rather vague descriptor that is challenging to visualize. After all, a parsec is a unit of distance, not time, where one parsec is roughly equivalent to 3.26 light years. Even without diving into the scientific nuances of the concept, it is understandable why Solo's claims became a topic for debate and discussion, giving rise to fascinating theories over the years. However, "Solo: A Star Wars Story" effectively answers all our questions about the Kessen Run discourse by approaching Han's boast in ways that are interesting and grounded in practicality.

Since his introduction in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Lando Calrissian has been something of a mainstay in the Star Wars franchise. After his betrayal on Cloud City, Lando quickly redeemed himself by abandoning his people to save Han Solo from the clutches of Boba Fett. Fans were drawn to the complicated morality of the character and, of course, the unending charm of Billy Dee Williams.
Despite being a significant part of the second half of the original trilogy, Lando has somewhat fallen to the wayside of fans' attention since then. His triumphant return in The Rise of Skywalker put him back in the spotlight for a moment, but canon Lando content is few and far between. Still, there remains a lot of Lando lore that even the most well-versed fans might not be aware of.

TV show cancellations are nothing new. Beloved shows have been canceled before fans were ready for them to end for decades. But in a time where streaming services have begun to fully erase their own content in addition to canceling shows before they have a chance to find their footing, the future of the shows we love and our ability to enjoy them feels even more out of our hands than it did before. Warwick Davis is the face of the “Willow” franchise, which kicked off in 1988 with Ron Howard’s fantasy film and continued with the short-lived Disney+ sequel series in 2022. Disney canceled the television series after only one eight-episode season, and then it pulled the show off of Disney+ entirely for cost-cutting measures. Davis is now calling out Disney on X (formerly Twitter), asking the studio in a recent post to answer the many fans wondering why they can no longer watch the show via streaming.
“I meet lovely people on a daily basis who are fans of ‘Willow,’ who are the reason the Disney+ series was made,” Davis posted. “Please tell me [Walt Disney Company], what do I say to these subscribers when they ask why they can’t watch the series any more? #embarrassing.”

Willow actor and silver screen legend Warwick Davis is not holding back about Disney’s removal of the Willow series. Davis recently took to social media to break his silence about the House of Mouse pulling its Willow series from the streaming platform as part of a broader cost-cutting initiative under Disney CEO Bob Iger.
“I meet lovely people on a daily basis who are fans of #Willow, who are the reason the @DisneyPlus series was made,” Davis wrote on X (formally known as Twitter). “Please tell me @WaltDisneyCo, what do I say to these subscribers when they ask why they can’t watch the series any more? #embarrassing”

Willow star Warwick Davis is not happy about the removal of the Disney+ fantasy-adventure series from the streaming platform, calling it “#embarrassing”.
“I meet lovely people on a daily basis who are fans of #Willow, who are the reason the @DisneyPlus series was made,” Davis wrote on X (fka Twitter). “Please tell me @WaltDisneyCo, what do I say to these subscribers when they ask why they can’t watch the series any more? #embarrassing”
The streamer announced in March that there would be no second season of the original series, based on the 1988 fantasy film directed by Ron Howard. However, series creator Jon Kasdan later categorized Willow‘s status as more of a pause than cancellation, noting that Season 2 has been written and he is hopeful that it will eventually be made, but not for at least the next 12 months, leading to a decision to release the cast.

Actor Warwick Davis admits he gets embarrassed when people ask him what happened to the Willow series on Disney+.
Premiering on Disney+ last year, Willow served as a continuation of the original feature film released in 1988. In March of this year, it was reported that the show had been canceled after one season. Two months later, the show's first and only season was also scrubbed completely from Disney+, leaving fans without a legal way of watching the episodes. Taking to X, Davis, who plays the titular character in the original film and the Willow sequel series, expressed his frustration over the show's unavailability.

Warwick Davis, star of Willow, has criticized Disney for removing the show from Disney+, leaving fans unable to watch it and asking what he should tell them. The removal of Willow highlights the need for physical media in the entertainment industry, as streaming services prioritize cost-cutting measures and remove shows from their libraries. While it remains uncertain if there will ever be a Willow season 2, a physical media release would allow fans to continue accessing beloved shows like it, even after they are taken down online.

Warwick Davis has a question for Disney, and they probably aren’t going to like it.

Disney removed the original series from its streaming service Disney+ in May, only six months after the show began airing. The decision left the sequel to the 1988 movie effectively homeless, and a legion of subscribers disappointed.

Meegosh, an endearing character from the original Willow film, was sadly absent from the sequel series due to the death of actor David Steinberg. The decision to not recast Meegosh was made out of respect for Steinberg and his legacy, as Willow is a passion project for creator Jonathan Kasdan. The void left by Meegosh's absence was filled by a new character named Silas, who shares many similarities with Meegosh and serves as a close friend and loyal companion to Willow.
Meegosh from Willow was one of the underrated fantasy film's most endearing characters, but he was conspicuously absent from the TV series. Released in 1988, Willow follows the titular halfling (Warwick Davis) as he reluctantly embarks on an epic quest to protect a baby from the clutches of the evil queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh). When Disney bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas, they didn’t just acquire Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but also Willow, the beloved 1988 fantasy movie starring Warwick Davis. There had been talk of a sequel for years, but the franchise finally returned with an eight-episode series which launched on Disney+ last year. However, Disney cancelled Willow and then removed the series from the streaming service after just six months.
According to a report by Forbes, Disney spent $105.9 million on making Willow, which is a lot of money to shell out for something that currently can’t be seen legally. However, as the series was produced in the United Kingdom, it benefited from several reimbursements. The show received a $20.4 million reimbursement for filming in the UK and received an additional reimbursement of $5.1 million for filming in Wales specifically, bringing the net spending on Willow down to $80.4 million.

It is no secret that streaming platforms are not the penultimate saving grace when it comes to TV shows and movies finding an everlasting home. As time goes on, more and more lists pop up all over the internet, talking about the massive number of titles leaving the digital sphere on a set date.
It's discouraging to realize that we all thought the opposite a long time ago. Not to dive even deeper into this blinding truth, but it's even more heartbreaking to see the newer apps like Disney+ and Max go about business the same way. While people can point fingers at the licensed content just reaching an inevitable expiration point, subscribers are hit the hardest when they see their binge-worthy media suddenly vanish.

Fans of Willow have four brand-new collectibles to buy thanks to Funko Pop! and associate designer Kaysi Smith. For those unfamiliar with the film, it’s a 1988 fantasy movie that was directed by Ron Howard. The story for the film hailed from George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, though the script was written by Bob Dolman. A sequel series, created by Jonathan Kasdan, was released on Disney+ 34 years later, but not for long.
Smith said in an interview with Lucasfilm:
“As a fan of Willow, I was excited to be able to take part in turning these characters into Funko Pop!s. Willow was something I grew up with, and being able to tap into that nostalgia and look at the film with a critical lens was very cool. Selena Gomez knocked back Disney's offer to headline a Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff series, according to her co-star, Jennifer Stone.
Stone discussed the proposed Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff in an episode of the Wizards of Waverly Pod. "Now, I don't know how true this is, but I was told that it was pitched to Selena to do a Harper-Alex spinoff, and she said no," Stone said. "And [it was] because she had a lot of other things going on." The actor added that Disney apparently approached Gomez "right after" The Wizards of Waverly Place wrapped up in 2012, and suggested that Harper and Alex moving into an apartment together in the show was intended to lay the groundwork for the unrealized project.

There’s been a lot of outrage about Disney’s recent decision to purge its library of content following the merger of streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu. What shocked subscribers most was the fact that fairly recent titles would be axed from the new catalog, including high fantasy series Willow. The removal of the series along with The World According to Jeff Goldblum, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and others angered fans and people who had them on their watchlist, but one person didn’t mind that at all: Willow’s own creator Jonathan Kasdan.

Willow writer John Bickerstaff has responded to Disney's decision to remove the fantasy series from Disney+ on May 26. Disney has announced the cutting of many films and TV shows from Disney+, leaving many to wonder what will happen to the projects purged from the streaming service. While Disney+ has seen a great deal of success for the studio in terms of storytelling ability, the news about many projects being cut from the service is a concern, to say the least. While the titles being cut are limited to smaller, more original IPs rather than content dedicated to franchises like Star Wars or the MCU, it is a shame to see any works having the possibility of being seen taken away.

Bickerstaff took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with Disney, noting that Willow was being removed from Disney+ less than six months after its final episode aired. To celebrate Star Wars Day, Jon Kasdan shared the final page from the script of Solo: A Star Wars Story, where Han (Alden Ehrenreich) and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) have one final conversation before heading out to hyperspace and onto their next adventure.
