A fast expanding player in a period of contraction in the global market, The Mediapro Studio is bringing to the upcoming Cannes and LA Screenings a film-tv content slate spangled by recent and important novelties.
Their first stop is Cannes, where The Mediapro Studio Distribution is presenting to the market its swelling feature film output, led by Marcel Barrena’s Spanish box office hit and Goya winning film “The 47.”
Toplining Eduard Fernández, the true life-based social movie has been already sold to Italy and Greece; while U.S. and China deals are underway.
Another standout title at the market is Carlos Polo Menarguez’s harassment drama “El talento,” a co-production with Fernando León de Aranoa’s Reposado, starring “Elite’s” Ester Expósito, whose Spanish and Latin American rights are sold by Tmsd, with other international distribution handled by Vicente Canales’ Film Factory.

L.A.-based the Mediapro Studio U.S. & Canada has secured film adaptation rights to “The Museum of Cursed Artifacts,” an upcoming novel by Evan Spiliotopoulos, writer of 2017 Disney blockbuster “Beauty and the Beast.”
Described by the Mediapro Studio as action-packed, blending suspense, adventure and supernatural twists, “The Museum of Cursed Artifacts” begins with a famed entrepreneur completing his collection of cursed artifacts. He then takes his life in a shocking manner.
His family, gutted that he blew all his money but still hoping to turn a profit with this macabre museum, assemble leading experts to verify the items’ authenticity. All hell literally breaks loose.
In what the Mediapro Studio calls a “highly competitive deal,” rights to the novel were acquired in a two-book deal with Emily Bestler Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Spiliotopoulos — whose screenplay credits also include Russell Crowe starrer “The Pope’s Exorcist,” “The Huntsman: Winter’s War...

John Turturro delivered a video address and spoke about his adaptation of Is There No Place on Earth for Me? as the Spanish media giant made a series of statement announcements.
Having unveiled Mediapro North America six months ago, CEO Laura Espeso introduced the session. Jc Acosta, Head of the Mediapro Studio U.S. & Canada, proceeded to unveil the LA, New York and Miami-based North American division of the Spanish company.
For Espeso, the move is more than just a push into another market. “It has the potential to resonate globally, influencing cultures and trends worldwide,” she told Deadline’s Stewart Clarke on stage at MIPCOM. “There is no way we will miss this opportunity. It appears that 24: Legacy will endure as…a limited series. Indeed, after the show was one of Fox’s prime new dramas during the most recent TV season, the network has opted to cancel the series and not move forward with a second season. The show came on the heels of the Jack Bauer-fronted event series 24: Live Another Day as the creative team from that show—Manny Coto and Evan Katz—came together to craft a new reboot of the property lead by Straight Outta Compton star Corey Hawkins. This wasn’t a total do-over as …...

Corey Hawkins has one very special person to credit for teaching him about saving the world: his mother.
On Super Bowl Sunday, audiences watched Hawkins make his debut as ex-Army Ranger Eric Carter in Fox’s new action drama series, 24: Legacy, a spin-off of Kiefer Sutherland‘s 24.
“Corey is literally the only person we gave to ,” writer Evan Katz told emmy magazine about Hawkins’ role as protagonist Carter.

With its debut in 2001 less than two months after the horrific attacks of September 11, Fox’s 24 captured the spirit, fears, dark underbelly and contradictions of the beginning of the Era of Terror we are living in still. In a time of travel bans and uncertainty, induced tensions over Muslims abroad and at home in some quarters and spiked words with Iran, the premiere of the spinoff 24: Legacy on February 5 may be the beneficiary of the same timelines — both with its narrative and a prized launch immediately after Super Bowl Li.

We had the opportunity to sit with the executive producers of 24: Legacy at New York Comic Con this past fall.
We have the full chat with Evan Katz, Howard Gordon and Manny Coto in the video below.
During the discussion they express their feelings on Jimmy Smit's presence being one of his qualifications as President, and share thoughts on the past presidents from other installments of 24.
Co-star Miranda Otto, too, has the weight, intelligence and complexity to bring a natural feel to her role.
But what about Corey Hawkins? They talk about whether he's prepared for 24 mania and the rabid fandom that comes from starring on a TV show versus what he's experienced from his starring turn in Straight Outta Compton.
They also discuss Hawkins' classical training and his grace as a performer, which lends itself to his undeniable charisma.

As cynical and sick of franchises, reboots, revivals, and remakes as we are or pretend to be in the comments section (everyone seemed pretty stoked about Rogue One), audiences are smart enough to know that Hollywood won’t budge on this trend anytime soon. They’ll shake every last dollar they can get out of the Revival Era as long as we keep our sticky fingers on our smartphones, tablets, and remotes.

Not to be outdone by Marvel’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Adaptation, Idw is getting back into the tie-in game when 24: Legacy makes the jump to the comic book medium with Rules of Engagement.
In the past, Idw has found much success with a variety of series tied to properties originating in television and video games. Whether it be G.I. Joe, Silent Hill, or Metal Gear Solid, they’ve offered something for just about anybody. And seeing as how this isn’t their first rodeo involving 24, it only makes sense continuing that proud tradition.
Perhaps this five-part limited series will make the new Fox show an easier sell. After all, when one becomes attached to Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer for so long, getting used to another character may take some time. Tony Almeida will be part of 24: Legacy.
Carlos Bernard has signed up to appear on the rebooted series, but he won't be a series regular.
He will appear on a recurring capacity.
If you recall, Tony Almeida was last seen being carted off to jail at the conclusion of 24 Season 7.
The character evolved a lot throughout the original series.
He was apparently killed off on 24 Season 5, but somehow managed to return as a villain.
It changed the dynamics for his character, but his appearance on the new iteration of the hit series will probably find him getting a reprieve from jail.
Either that, or he has intel on the newest terrorist to stalk the Counter Terrorist Unit.
“Tony Almeida is one of the most indelible personalities in the 24 universe, at times loyal and loving, other times an utterly amoral, ruthless mercenary,” said Legacy‘s co-showrunners Manny Coto and Evan Katz in a statement.

Tick, tock, tick, tock… Tony!
Carlos Bernard has signed on to reprise his signature role as Tony Almeida on a recurring basis in Fox’s forthcoming 24: Legacy reboot, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Tony was killed off in Season 5, only to be resurrected — and rebranded as a villain — at the start of Season 7. He was last seen being carted off to jail in the Season 7 finale, although he popped up two years ago in a special feature in the Live Another Day Blu-Ray set. The quasi-short film, 24: Solitary, chronicled Tony’s life in prison, including his efforts to break out.

When it began in 2001, the drama series 24 was a groundbreaking endeavour. With its events unfolding in ‘real time’ over the course of every hour-long episode, the show followed the efforts of counter terrorism agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) as he continually tried to save the world from those that sought to blow it up, or poison it, or infiltrate the U.S Presidency, or kill people that he didn’t want dead.
The show ran for eight seasons in its original run, and returned for a 12 episode limited series – 24: Live Another Day – in 2014. By that point, those episodes reflected the evolution of the show – into a two-hander focused on Bauer, and his colleague Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub). As producers gear up for brand new 24 antics with 24: Legacy, it comes with the news that Chloe might be set to return.

The clock. The boxes. The dink! dink! dink! dink! ticking. They’ll all be there when 24: Legacy debuts in February, producers and stars of the Fox series assured fans during a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Sunday. And please, don’t call it a “reboot.”
“This is more of an expansion of the 24 universe,” producer Manny Coto told fans in Hall H, likening the upcoming series to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. “It’s really just another story in the same world” that introduced us to the original version’s Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland.

As of right now, two X-Men inspired TV projects are in development at Fox. They are called Legion and Hellfire. It seems Bryan Singer is going to have a hand in bringing these projects to life.
Legion is set up at FX and it will be written and produced by Fargo creator Noah Hawley. We previously learned that this show "introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real."
Hellfire is being developed by Evan Katz (24: Live Another Day), Manny Coto (24), Patrick McKay (Star Trek Beyond), and Jd Payne (Star Trek Beyond). It will be set in the late 1960s,...

Meanwhile "Star" revolves around three girls (newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O'Grady) who come together to form a band.

Back in January, Fox announced a new 24 reboot, which would later be titled 24: Legacy. But the network made it clear right from the beginning that the iconic Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland in the original series, would not return. The series has already cast Corey Antonio Hawkins as the lead character, Eric Carter, with Miranda Otto and Ashley Thomas also set to star. Rolling Stone recently spoke with Kiefer Sutherland, who reveals he signed on as an executive producer on 24: Legacy, while teasing that Jack Bauer may in fact return. Here's what he had to say, noting that he's never again claiming to be "done" with the character.
"I've said that twice and have been wrong, so I won't say that again. It's a phenomenal script. I think it's going to be incredibly liberating for the writers to not have to figure out one more bad day for Jack Bauer.

With two key roles already secured, Fox is continuing to round out its cast for the reboot 24: Legacy. Ashley Thomas is playing Isaac Carter, the older brother of the series' main lead, Aaron Carter, played by Corey Antonio Hawkins.
This report reveals that Isaac and Aaron are not on good terms, with a bitter past that includes Aaron marrying Isaac's former girlfriend Nicole (Anna Diop). It was previously reported that Aaron grew up in a rough neighborhood and had a troubled childhood, which he managed to escape by joining the Army Rangers.
