Sham Kaushal is a prominent action director and stunt coordinator in the Indian film industry. He completed his Post Graduation in English Literature from Government College in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. His first job was as a sales representative.
It was during a meeting with some stuntmen from the film industry that he got into stunts. He worked as a stuntman for seven years before getting his big break as an independent action director in 1990.
Kaushal has been working in the industry for over four decades and has contributed to numerous blockbuster films in Bollywood and Hollywood. His first movie as an action director was Indrajaalam (1990), a Malayalam film.
In Bollywood, Kaushal has worked as an action director in films such as Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), PK (2014), Padmaavat (2018), Sanju (2018), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and Simmba (2018).
He has also worked on international projects such as the Academy Award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and the Hollywood film Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011).
Kaushal's work has been highly acclaimed, and he has won several awards for his contributions. He won the National Film Award for Best Special Effects for the film "Gangs of Wasseypur." He was also nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Action for the film "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag."
He has bagged four Filmfare Awards as well, which is the most that any Action Director has been able to achieve.
