Update: After reports that Madame Tussauds had chosen to remove one of its Beyoncé wax figures amid criticism for its appearance, Entertainment Weekly has stated that the statue is back in action on the museum floor - but with a few changes. "We love, respect, and enjoy a working relationship with Beyoncé," Madame Tussauds told EW in an official statement. "We have adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure, and she is on display at Madame Tussauds New York." The soap community took to Twitter last night and this morning in reaction to New York state passing an historic Marriage Equality law. The New York Senate has voted 33-29 to legalize same-sex marriage following easy passage in the House. New York is now the sixth state allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry. Governor Andrew Cuomo will sign the bill and it will go into effect in 30 days. Here's a sample of the reactions below:

In praise of "Morning Glory"

I saw an advanced screening of Morning Glory last night and thoroughly enjoyed myself. After working the better part of my life in daytime television (first soaps, then morning news), I've been waiting for a film to come along that accurately portrays the fun and frustrations of producing that much content daily. (Soapdish was a lonnng time ago, folks! Things have certainly changed.) Many of the same concerns over cost and content exist in all forms of daytime television entertainment and, in the name of comedy, Morning Glory got it almost all right on. Except for one line in which the heroine, Rachel McAdams--producer of a low rated breakfast news program, proclaims that their show's existence is threatened with being replaced "by soap operas and game shows." Obviously the filmmakers are unaware of the precarious nature of TV soaps.

CBS' long-running soap opera Guiding Light left the air last September after more than 50 years on television. Many viewers found it hard to say goodbye to the characters and the performers who played them. Now, if you have the money and time, you can say goodbye up close and personal.
A "So Long Springfield" cruise is taking place on Carnival's Glory ship from July 31st until August 5th. The boat is set to sail out of New York City and visit St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Performers scheduled to take part include Kim Zimmer, Robert Newman, Justin Deas, Grant Aleksander, Beth Chamberlin, Ron Raines, Jordan Clarke, Tina Sloan, Roger Bogue, Liz Keifer, Michael O'Leary, Frank Dicopoulos, and Mandy Bruno.
