The film's title might not capture your interest right away, but don't be fooled. Now, it’s looking like Neon will be the distributor to bring this good time to horror fans, as Deadline reports that, after “a days long bidding battle,” Neon is close to securing the worldwide rights to the film. WME Independent has been fielding offers from interested distributors ever since Together‘s premiere screening on the 26th, and Deadline reports that all of the major buyers of indie fare were in the mix.

Exclusive: Longtime TV development executive Jessica Shulman has segued to the representation business, joining Literate as a manager.

At the company, where she started yesterday, Shulman will work alongside Literate partners A.B. Fischer and Dennis Kim and fellow manager Kelly Miller.

Shulman has been a development executive for the past 15 years, most recently serving as SVP of Television for Michael London’s Groundswell Productions. Prior to that, she spent 5 years as Head of Television for Neal Baer’s Baer Bones, overseeing the production company’s deals at CBS TV Studios and 20th Television.

Last October, my co-editor David Phelps and I released our first self-published e-book out into the world. It was entitled William A. Wellman: A Dossier, and after the somewhat life-changing experience we had discovering Wellman's films during his Film Forum retrospective, we were happy to have discovered a format that would allow us to curate, create, and share an anthology of criticism centered on Wellman's work.

A movie that on paper is a simple genre exercise about a vengeful woman trying to regain her land and cattle but in practice is about how different people and events fill...

In light of Leonardo DiCaprio’s most recent Oscar snub for a performance that our very own Simon Gallagher called ‘the most skin crawlingly evil Tarantino creation’, which is incredibly high praise when you remember Tarantino’s cameo in Pulp Fiction… That performance was affecting and entertaining, and DiCaprio’s performance was incredible, especially when you consider that this repugnant character was created by the same actor who brought wholesome, hunky hero Jack to life in Titanic.

This latest snub has got me reminiscing about an actor who has carried blockbusters, been a conduit between small movies and high returns whilst also being an incredible actor. Just how has this incredible talent, who has been a brilliant representative of Hollywood over the last 20 years, gone without academy recognition?

The "ER" and "Event" vet has been cast as a guest star in Syfy's "Warehouse 13" as Emma Jinks, a woman who has been estranged from her son Steve (Aaron Ashmore) for two years.

“The wonderfully talented Innes gives a heartrending performance as a woman who is desperately trying to mend her relationship with the only child she has left after her family was torn apart by tragedy," executive producer Jack Kenney said.

While everyone was focused on New Jersey passing marriage equality yesterday, in my home state of West Virginia, Del. John Doyle introduced a civil unions bill in the legislature that is an "everything but the name" bill. In all honesty, I'm unsure how I feel about that – we have a statute defining marriage as a man and a woman, not an amendment, and we can't pass a nondiscrimination law. This may not be the attention we want. Still, yay, us!

Also locally, Stephen Skinner, head of Fairness Wv, our only Glbt organization, resigned today to pursue a candidacy for the House of Delegates.

After stellar reviews the likes of which no other game has received in recent memory, including our own five star review from our Gaming Editor Simon Gallagher this week, Warner Bros have announced that 4.6 million copies of Batman: Arkham City have been sold in the first week of release.

Backed by a stronger marketing campaign and of the course the success of the original game and the fans that game bred, Batman: Arkham City has sold the twice the number of Batman: Arkham Asylum after the same period. This could make it a contender for the top-selling game of 2011 if it sustains or at least there or thereabouts.

A couple of weeks back we heard Bond 23 screenwriter John Logan heavily hint towards a familiar villainous face returning to torment the world’s most famous spy in the next 007 movie that begins filming very soon. Right now director Sam Mendes and his Bond team are kicking pre-production into a higher gear, recently securing up shooting locations and no doubt putting the last minute casting details in place. We could be just days away from a firm title announcement on the film along with a reveal over who the new villain is. Could it be a return for Blofeld for the first time since the early 80′s?

The FCC has finalized a set of rules designed to help with net neutrality. In theory it would keep your ISP from throttling your connection if you use Netflix as opposed to their VOD service. In practice, publishing the rules just allows the ISPs to sue to block them.
