General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal alum Sebastian Roché, who played Jerry Jacks, recently made his exit from “1923”. The character he played on that show, a Catholic priest named Father Renaud, was recently killed off.
A Much Loved Villain’s Demise
Everyone has a fascination with villains, and in the series 1923, French-American actor Sebastian Roché excels in this role. He portrays Father Renaud, a Catholic priest whose main goal is to convert others to his interpretation of faith.
To achieve this, he inflicts pain on children, including Teoona Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), who ultimately rebels and kills several nuns. In a quest for revenge,
Father Renaud embarks on a journey across the country to track her down and avenge the loss of the women he cared for. After months of searching, he finally confronts her, only to meet his demise moments later.

1923 never held back on the heartbreak, but one scene in Season 2 hit way too close to home. Taylor Sheridan already has a reputation for such moments — we even dub his work a “Red Wedding” factory. But this time, reality bled into fiction in a way we really didn’t see coming. A real-life tragedy shadowed a pivotal scene.
Sheridan’s signature storytelling is torturous enough, but knowing the emotions behind this moment were 100% real? That took it to another level. We braced for drama, but what we got was something far more personal.

1923 just gave us another emotional shocker, but this time, the heartbreak was excruciatingly real. In the Sunday, March 30 episode, Pete Plenty Clouds met a tragic fate, just months after the real-life loss of Cole Brings Plenty, the actor who originally played him.

[This story contains major spoilers from the penultimate episode of 1923 season two, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.”]
“The darkness cannot hide from the light. And I am the light.”
Those are the words spoken by Father Renaud (Sebastian Roché) when the priest finally stands before protagonist Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves) with a gun to her head in the penultimate episode of 1923 season two.
Since season one, Father Renaud has been hunting Teonna, the Native girl who escaped his Indian assimilation boarding school and left murdered nuns (including Jennifer Ehle) in her wake. He spent the majority of this season tracking Teonna on horseback alongside Marshall Kent (Jamie McShane). When he finally finds her, thanks to a lit fire — after killing Kent over the murder of Teonna’s love, Pete Plenty Clouds (Jeremy Gauna) — Renaud shoots Teonna’s father, Runs His Horse (Michael Spears), and demands Teonna repent for her sins before he kills her, too.
But even in what she believes to be her final moment, Teonna will not relent.

'1923's Jeremy Gauna Reveals How Cole Brings Plenty's Death Impacted Season 2's Most Shocking Deaths
1923 was dealt a huge blow when Season 1 cast member Cole Brings Plenty passed away in 2024. He played Pete Plenty Clouds in the Yellowstone origin story series, and the character was set to return in Season 2. Following Brings Plenty's death, the role was recast, with Jeremy Gauna taking over. In the Sunday, March 30 episode of 1923, several characters, including Pete Plenty Clouds, were killed off. Gauna admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that filming Pete's death brought up complicated feelings given Brings Plenty's untimely death. "It was very difficult, especially with everything that happened in real life to Cole," he said in an interview. "Cole had so much expectations with the character. He had so much joy knowing that he was getting to be a part of six episodes, and that was taken away from him abruptly," he continued, reflecting on how Cole's death robbed the young actor of his potential. Gauna discussed...

[This story contains major spoilers from the penultimate episode of 1923 season two, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.”]
The penultimate season two episode of 1923 delivered death after death. A whopping seven bodies were left in wake of the sixth episode from creator Taylor Sheridan, titled “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.” Everything that happened will barrel the Western saga into what is sure to be a propulsive season finale, but let’s stop for a moment and mourn what was lost.
Michael Spears has been playing Runs His Horse for two seasons on the Yellowstone prequel series, with Jeremy Gauna inheriting his role as Pete Plenty Clouds after the untimely death of original star Cole Brings Plenty. Cole died about two months after the season one finale released. (A cause of death was not revealed.) Cole was the nephew of Mo Brings Plenty, the American Indian affairs coordinator on both 1923 and Yellowstone, playing Mo, the right-hand man to Chief Thomas Rainwater (played by Gil Birmingham), who is a future...

The season premiere of the second (and confirmed final) season of 1923 remains cinematic. It has honest-to-God star power—not only because the series features Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, rising star Brandon Sklenar, and an Emmy-worthy turn by Aminah Nieves.
Created by Taylor Sheridan, 1923‘s second season is worth watching because the series is brimming with magnetism, flawless writing, thought-provoking themes, and genuinely engaging storytelling. As displayed at the start of the sophomore effort is the type of old-fashioned Hollywood storytelling they don’t make anymore.

When you think of the classic Western hero, you likely conjure up the image of a stoic, laconic man astride a horse. He exhibits neither joy nor sorrow; he does not laugh, nor does he cry. He is a man of few words and zero sentimentality. He probably hasn't taken a bath in a while.
Even if you've only a passing interest in the genre, you're likely thinking of John Wayne. If you prefer not to think of the Duke, you might think of Clint Eastwood. If you've only ever seen one Western, and that Western happens to be "The Shakiest Gun in the West," you're thinking of Don Knotts and are thus incapable of relating to everything I've just written.
If, however, you know the genre well, and had a dad and/or granddad who forced you to watch all manner of Westerns regardless of quality, you probably know the long-running CBS oater "Gunsmoke.

This 1923 review contains spoilers for the episode and the Yellowstone universe at large.
1923 Episode 8
In the 1923 season 1 finale, there’s a well-written little nugget of dialogue spoken by breakout character Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves) when she tells her father, with conviction, that she “believes in right now.” While inspiring, that affirmation sticks out because of the inherent dramatic irony.
Yellowstone supercreator, Taylor Sheridan, who only half a decade ago barely had one show to his name, now helms nine television shows, all in varying degrees of production. On the surface, he certainly seems like a man who has to live in the “right now”, as his time is so precious, it would be difficult to think about nice different things at the same time, so best to focus on the here and now. However, it may be fair to say that his writing has recently suffered on several of his...

1923 Episode 6
Even the most steadfast, diehard Taylor Sheridan fan must admit, that as much of a creative force he has been in the past five years, at times, it can feel as if he is spreading himself too thin.
That was the feeling last episode of 1923 mustered. It was by no means a poor episode, rarely does he write those, but it certainly felt like a long episode. Much like season 5 of Yellowstone felt in the first half of the season, there are so many moments that feel as if the audience is just… oh… say… sitting on top of a lifeboat in the middle of an endless ocean awaiting for the rapture of rescue or some sort of sweet release.
You’ll have to forgive the rather ham-fisted segue to this week’s episode “One Ocean Closer to Destiny” because recently, this has been...
