Seth Meyers Peters Out Mid-Impression and Panics: ‘My Impression Battery’s Dead’ | Video
Image
As a former “SNL” cast member, Seth Meyers can usually put on a solid impression when he needs to. But on Monday night’s episode of “Late Night,” the NBC host petered out mid-impression, causing him to panic a bit.

The moment came as Meyers made fun of Donald Trump’s reaction to his own Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard testifying that there was no evidence of Iran building a nuclear weapon (Trump simply said “she’s wrong”). To the host’s ear, the president sounded similar to a character from “Sex and the City.”

“Trump reacts like Carrie when the others confront her about an affair,” Meyers joked. “‘I heard Big stopped by last night.’ ‘Who told you that? Steve? Well, Steve is wrong.’ ‘Oh gosh, Carrie. I mean, I could be wrong. I’m not trying to make trouble. I just thought I saw him go in your –.'”

Don Mischer, Director and Producer of Television’s Biggest Live Events, Dies at 85
Image
Don Mischer, the Emmy-accumulating director-producer who called the shots on the biggest live entertainment events in the world, from Super Bowl halftime shows and Olympic opening ceremonies to the Oscars and the Emmys, has died. He was 85.

Mischer died peacefully in his sleep in Los Angeles on Friday, a family spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

The San Antonio native also helmed the Kennedy Center Honors, starting with the inaugural 1978 event through 1986 — he then produced the CBS telecast from 1993-2001 — and guided Barbara Walters‘ highly-rated ABC interview shows beginning in the late 1970s.

Meanwhile, Mischer was the architect of dozens of landmark TV specials, including 1983’s Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, which featured a reunion of The Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson’s “moonwalk” during a “Billie Jean” performance, and 1990’s The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson and 1998’s Sonny & Me: Cher Remembers, both of which aired mere months after the shocking deaths...

When Johnny Depp Spent Millions To Fire His Friend’s Ashes From A Cannon Because That’s Exactly What He Wanted
Image
Does Johnny Depp always do everything he can for his friends? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)

Yep! Johnny Depp reportedly spent $3 million firing Hunter S. Thompson’s ashes from a cannon. Because that’s exactly what the gonzo journalist wanted.

“All I’m doing is trying to make sure his last wish comes true,” Depp once said (via The Guardian). “I just want to send my pal out the way he wants to go out.”

Thompson, the legendary writer behind Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, had made it clear before his death in 2005: he wanted his ashes blasted into the sky in a grand, fiery send-off. Depp, who played Thompson in the 1998 film adaptation of the same name, made sure it happened.

Epstein’s Contact List Explained: Is It Confirmed Michael Jackson, Ivanka Trump and Ralph Fiennes Went to Epstein’s Island?
Image
Donald Trump’s Department of Justice has released new documents that could be helpful in the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein’s case, including his contact list and flight logs. It was a major disappointment for the people, though, as the said file did not reveal any explosive information.

In fact, it did not mention any names of celebrities, politicians, or high-profile figures who are confirmed to have been guests on his private island. All we have for now is a list of Epstein’s contact list whose names are familiar to the public.

Jeffrey Epstein’s contact list revealed several well-known celebrities and politicians

On Thursday afternoon, Jeffrey Epstein’s documents were released to selected right-wing social media influencers, and they were reportedly underwhelmed with the revelation. A source who had seen the files told the New York Post that they looked into a hundred pages of phone book,...

Epstein’s List Actors and Celebs: Bob Weinstein Has a Bigger Problem to Worry About Than Harvey Weinstein’s Fraud Claims
Image
Harvey Weinstein’s brother, Bob Weinstein, might need to watch his back while he deals with the lawsuit filed against him.

As promised, President Donald Trump released the “first phase” of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and his contact list. While the 200-page long binder did not provide any breaking news related to the Epstein List, it did unveil a few big names who had been on his contact list. From Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson to Alec Baldwin and Ivanka Trump, the documents only confirmed what the masses had been suspecting all this time.

One such name on the list was that of Bob Weinstein, film producer and the founder of Dimension Films, as well as the former co-chairman of Miramax Films and The Weinstein Company. Harvey Weinstein, now in jail, filed a lawsuit against his brother and a few others alleging financial fraud and conspiracy.

Fact Check: Are Chris Evans, Leonardo DiCaprio and Cate Blanchett in Epstein’s Contact List?
Image
The Justice Department of the U.S. has released a document relating to the notorious s*x predator Jeffrey Epstein on Thursday evening, February 26th. The list includes a contact list and flight logs. The 200-page document has made no big revelations, but it has mentioned all the celebrities and politicians who were on the contact list of the offender. Attorney General Pam Bondi has claimed that the FBI office in New York will investigate the document further for it to be disclosed to the public.

Jeffrey Epstein had been charged with s*x offences against several underage girls in his homes and private islands. He had several acquaintances among whom some big Hollywood names are involved. The document containing the names of the contact list has revealed all the names related to the offences to the public.

Fact Check: Is Donald Trump in Epstein’s List? Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump’s Ex-wife Named in Epstein’s Contact List
Image
The Justice Department released the ‘Epstein Binder’, which contained documents like a contact list, flight logs, and other evidence related to s*x predator Jeffrey Epstein. U.S. President Donald Trump once maintained close ties with the disgraced financier. However, Trump’s name did not appear in the contact list released, and there is no proof that he was on the infamous ‘Epstein List’.

The new document contains no significant new information pertaining to the case. The President’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and his former wife, Ivana Trump, were among those listed as Epstein’s contact. However, the document didn’t imply that anyone in the contact list was associated with Epstein’s crimes.

Baltimore Is Fighting the Right-Wing Takeover of Its Iconic Newspaper
Image
Although Elon Musk’s quixotic purchase of Twitter, which he redubbed X, seems to have played a significant role in giving him full and unfettered access to the gears of government, one right-wing rich guy’s purchase of a media company did not result in his desired electoral outcome last year. Putative billionaire David D. Smith, Sinclair Broadcast Group’s executive chair, bought The Baltimore Sun in January 2024 and, yet, his candidates in the primary and a ballot initiative that he solely funded were resoundingly defeated by voters in Baltimore.

Beat the Press: Inside Trump’s War on Big Media
Image
As Ohio State and Notre Dame reached halftime of the college football championship in January, viewers watched as an unusual interruption crossed their screens: a prerecorded video of the newly inaugurated president.

“In recent years our people have suffered greatly, but starting now we’re going to bring America back and make it safer, richer and prouder than ever before,” Donald Trump said, standing stiffly in front of an American flag as he addressed an audience of 26 million who had tuned in to watch the game. “We will put America first, and by doing so we’re going to make America great again.”

Even some high-ranking ESPN employees were shocked by the Maga video. Presidents have appeared on the network’s broadcasts before, but usually for some idle chumminess, like Barack Obama and his March Madness picks, or during an emergency, as Joe Biden did at the Sugar Bowl in...

Meghan Markle Heartbroken Following ‘Devastating Slam’ From Friend of the …
Image
In recent years, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dealing with far more negative press than usual.

And that’s saying something, as these two had already encountered a tremendous amount of criticism in the earlier years of their marriage.

Most of it, of course, came from the British tabloid media, several members of which placed a target on Meghan’s back the moment she entered the international spotlight.

But perhaps the most impactful condemnation came from a highly respected noblewoman with close ties to several members of the royal family.

Cheers' 10 Best Cameos & Guest Stars
Image
The long-running sitcom Cheers had quite a few guest stars in the course of its 11 seasons, and these 10 actors were the very best of the show's cameos and special appearances. Each season of Cheers varied in quality, but one thing remained consistent throughout the show's 11 seasons: the caliber of guest appearances. Some of the biggest comedians, politicians, and athletes in the world got a chance to visit Sam Malone (Ted Danson) and the rest of the bar, and they made the most of those opportunities. Only 10 can be considered the best, though, and the competition was quite stiff.

There are quite a few factors that make a cameo or special guest appearance memorable. The best cameos are ones that not only brought a famous person onto Cheers, but also the ones that used that cameo creatively. Many of Cheers' best guest stars played themselves, but the show used their real-world...

Architect of Lil Jon’s Viral DNC Cameo To Help Celebs Boost Social and Political Impact
Image
Atlanta rap superstar Lil Jon’s epic performance of his classic “Turn Down for What” during the Georgia roll call at the Democratic National Convention in August wouldn’t have happened without veteran social impact strategist Ashley Spillane. After seeing the “from the window to the Walz” memes about Kamala Harris’ vice-presidential pick Tim Walz (a play on Lil Jon’s 2003 hit “Get Low”) go viral, Spillane got to work. Drawing on both her pop culture and political connections, Spillane — who served as president of Rock the Vote, the nonprofit formed in 1990 to increase turnout among 18 to 24-year-old voters — was able to join forces with Lil Jon’s longtime publicist Tamar Juda as well as key members of the Harris and DNC team to create one of the political season’s buzziest moments.

Linking pop culture to civic responsibility has long been a sweet spot for Spillane, who founded her D.

Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin & More Issue 11th Hour Bids Encouraging People To Vote
Image
Alec Baldwin and Michael Keaton were among the Hollywood vets who are issuing 11th hour bids encouraging people to cast their vote in the ballot box.

“I think nearly all of us know what’s at stake,” Baldwin began in a front-facing video appeal posted to Instagram. “People say, ‘Oh, the future of the country is at stake,’ and that might be true, but what’s at stake is the next four years, and in terms of certain problems we have with — yes, the border and yes, what our military is gonna be asked to do and what we’re gonna pay for that, but the environment is the most important thing to me right now ’cause you can’t undo it.”

Baldwin’s plea, in support of VP and presidential candidate Kamala Harris, focused largely on climate protection. The actor cited the sea levels rising, air pollution and proliferation of plastics as major issues,...

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog May Be the Best Political Correspondent Working Today
Image
Right now is a scary time to be living in America, as the country is just days away from an election that will decide the next president: Will it be the current vice president, or the anthropomorphic hemorrhoid who retroactively ruined Home Alone 2? Stay tuned.

At this crucial moment in history, the Fourth Estate is more important than ever. But since cable news is a dumpster fire, and major newspapers seem to be ethically-kneecapped by their billionaire owners, we will instead have to rely on the journalistic integrity of a rubber hand puppet.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog (who as you may not be aware is secretly controlled by a human being named Robert Smigel) has been providing on-site election coverage for The Daily Show this year. Most recently, Triumph popped by Madison Square Garden to interview Trump supporters eagerly lining up for the city’s most toxic open mic night.

20 best SNL political impersonations from over the years
Image
Since its beginning in 1975, Saturday Night Live has excelled at political impressions. They've been around for every Presidential election for decades, not to mention scores of political figures who have come and gone. Sometimes, you get an actor doing an okay impression, but other times, SNL crafts an impression so huge that it becomes a national sensation.

The best impressions are so famous that they can overwhelm the actual political figure being lampooned. Often, these politicians will pop up on SNL to confront their imposter and give them a stamp of approval. Not all of them are top-notch (their various takes on Donald Trump have been tricky), but these rank as the best SNL political impersonations over the last 50 years, and how you can always count on the show to nail some hilarious takes on famous political figures past and present.

Honorable mentions: Dan Aykroyd as Jimmy Carter, Jon Lovitz as Mike Dukakis,...

“Tim Walz Wasn’t Political, What Happened To Us That Day Changed That”: Former Student
Image
Exclusive: Matt Klaber remembers the first time he encountered Tim Walz, a teacher at his high school in Mankato, Minnesota.

Klaber, now a software engineer based in London and a longtime activist for the Democrats, was studying in the school library when he noticed a teacher in a bit of a rush. He tells Deadline:

“I recognised Mr Walz as an 11th grade geography teacher, the husband of my own journalism teacher, and he was dashing out of the door. What I found out was that he’d been activated in his role in the National Guard, responsible for responding to natural disasters. There was a flood in St. Paul, and he was off to lead the response to that. I can remember it struck a chord with me that a person would contribute to the community in such a way.”

Cut to the summer of 2004, and Klaber, by then 19 and freshly graduated,...

Bruce Springsteen Performs At Kamala Harris Rally, Tells Crowd That Donald Trump Is Running To Be “An American Tyrant”

Bruce Springsteen, performing for the first time for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, said that Donald Trump “is running to be an American tyrant.”

“He does not understand this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American,” Springsteen told the crowd at James R. Hallford Stadium near Atlanta.

Springsteen had just made the case for voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

He said, “I want a president who reveres the Constitution, who does not threaten but wants to protect and guide our great democracy, who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power, who will fight for a woman’s right to choose, and who wants to create a middle class economy that will serve all our citizens. There is only one candidate in this election who holds those principles.”

During his set, Springsteen performed “The Promised Land,” “Land of Hope and Dreams” and “Dancing in the Dark.

Harris quietly launched her Twitch account ahead of her speech at the Democratic National Convention in August, but before the WoW stream, the channel had not been used to broadcast any video games. Instead, it served as an alternative distribution hub for Harris and Walz’s campaign stops.

But the Harris team shifted its strategy when Walz went to Tucson, Arizona for a rally. To make the Twitch broadcast of the event a bit more exciting, Harris enlisted Preheat, a WoW player and...

Bruce Springsteen Endorses Kamala Harris And Calls Donald Trump “The Most Dangerous Candidate For President Of My Lifetime”
Image
Bruce Springsteen has endorsed Kamala Harris, while calling Donald Trump “the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime.”

“Perhaps not since the Civil War has this great country felt as politically, spiritually and emotionally divided as it does at this moment,” Springsteen said in a video posted on Instagram Thursday afternoon. “It doesn’t have to be this way.”

“The common values, the shared stories that make us a great and united nation are waiting to be rediscovered and retold once again. Now that will take time, hard, intelligence, faith and women and men with the national good guiding their hearts.”

Springsteen said that Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, “are committed to a vision of this country that respects and includes everyone, regardless of class, religion, race, your political point of view or sexual identity, and they want to grow the economy in a way that benefits all,...

Ray Richmond: The day Oprah called me – and I helped fire her political passion
Image
So you may know that Oprah Winfrey spoke Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention. This was something of a big deal to me, because without me, her political awareness may never have been stoked and it’s possible Barack Obama would never have been elected in 2008. In other words, I briefly changed Everything!!!

Well, sorta.

This is my story and I’m sticking to it:

In early October 2004, my thoughts were consumed by the race for President of the United States between President G.W. Bush – then gunning for his second term – and Senator John Kerry. The contentious campaigns had by then reached the “Your mama, and your daddy too!” stage when name-calling supersedes anything resembling constructive-issues dialogue. Only a superhero could save this thing from sinking further into the muck.

In other words, Oprah, then the empress of television and, really, the nation. My producer pal Erik Nelson...

Reginald Hudlin Directed Kamala Harris Biopic To Precede VP Speech At DNC On Thursday
Image
Exclusive: Vice President Kamala Harris has turned to an old friend and Hollywood veteran to help reintroduce her to the nation and the world at the Democratic National Convention this week.

Reginald Hudlin has directed the short film on Harris that will precede the VP taking to the stage on Thursday for her acceptance speech as the party’s historic presidential candidate. Tracing Harris from her childhood in Oakland, CA to the corridors of power in Sacramento and Washington D.C., the August 22-debuting biopic is about 10 minutes long, we’ve learned.

“Reggie is the perfect person to do this,” an insider at the convention in Chicago says. “He knows her (Harris) well, they’re friends, and he clearly has the chops.”

Bill Maher To Kevin McCarthy On Trump: “You Went To Mar-a-Lago And Kissed His Ass”
Image
Bill Maher challenged former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Donald Trump’s election denialism, as the two sparred on Real Time on Friday over McCarthy’s trek to Mar-a-Lago shortly after the January 6th attack on the Capitol.

“Did he win that election, Biden?” Maher asked McCarthy.

“Yes,” McCarthy insisted.

“I said from the beginning. I have no qualms with that,” McCarthy said.

“And you actually told that to Trump?”

“Yes,” McCarthy said.

“And then you switched,” Maher said.

McCarthy protested, before Maher said, “You went down to Mar-a-Lago and kissed his ass after that.”

McCarthy called that “bulls—” and said, “You’re so full of crap.”

“I was going to see Donald Trump. He’s my friend. I served with him. Just like I do anybody else.”

McCarthy trekked to Mar-a-Lago on Jan. 28, 2021, a week after Trump left office. The visit was viewed as the former president’s first step toward political revival.

Ari Emanuel’s Aspen Assault on Joe Biden and the Dems
Image
Ari Emanuel insists he’s a kinder and gentler man these days, but in the wake of June 27’s presidential debate, the hard-driving agency head is still fighting mad at Joe Biden and his top aides.

Appearing before a packed house at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, the Endeavor CEO had been invited to talk with the festival’s acting curator Tina Brown about his Hollywood career. But with Biden’s frail performance dominating the headlines, Brown made a quick detour. “Democrats are jumping out of the window,” she began after Emanuel took his seat. “What are you thinking?”

“Well, I’m pissed off at the founding fathers,” said Emanuel. “They had the start date of 35 years old, they just didn’t give us the end date. And, well, everybody died [back then], so they didn’t have to give the end date.”

Emanuel blamed Biden’s advisers for being less...

Chicago 2024 Sees Steven Spielberg On Board With Joe Biden For DNC & Reelection Campaign
Image
Steven Spielberg has made no secret of his support for Joe Biden’s reelection, and now the Oscar winner is rolling up his sleeves for the team.

Spielberg is involved strategically in the incumbent’s campaign and even the specifics of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, Deadline has confirmed.

“Steven wants to be as helpful as possible to the president,” a well-placed source says. “He believes this is one of the most important elections in the nation’s history.”

The filmmaker is unlikely to helm a short movie at the DNC about Biden this year the way he helped do for John Kerry in 2004, and again at the 2008 convention when Barack Obama was nominated. However, Spielberg has been working with key advisors on how to “convey the president’s successes and his vision for the country” to viewers and delegates, I’m told.

Representatives for Spielberg had...
