Carol Leonnig, a veteran investigative reporter for the Washington Post, is departing the publication for MSNBC.

Leonnig will serve as MSNBC’s senior investigative correspondent as the network builds up its news division in advance of its split from Comcast and sister network NBC News.

Leonnig has been at the Post for 25 years, and she’s the latest journalist to leave the publication. She was lead reporter for the Post‘s coverage of the January 6th attack on the Capitol, and was part of Post teams that won prizes in 2024, 2017 and 2014.

Along with Philip Rucker, she wrote two books on Trump’s first term, including A Very Stable Genius and I Alone Can Fix It. Her book, Zero Fail, followed her Pulitzer Prize reporting on the Secret Service during Barack Obama’s presidency. Puck first reported on Leonnig’s departure.

Before the Post, Leonnig worked on the staffs of the Charlotte Observer and Philadelphia Inquirer.

An arrest has been made in the case of a 10-year-old girl who sought an abortion in Indiana after services were allegedly denied to her in Ohio. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Gershon Fuentes, age 27, was arrested on Tuesday. Law enforcement officials say Fuentes confessed to raping the child — whose identity has not been released to preserve her privacy — on at least two occasions, and has been charged with rape.

In the weeks leading up to the arrest, prominent right-wing pundits and government officials attempted to discredit the story as a liberal pro-abortion fantasy.

As “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss shop an overall global deal around town, the field has narrowed to Netflix, Amazon and Disney, sources tell Variety.

Under the pact, the Emmy-nominated writer-producer will create, develop and produce original series and films to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video worldwide in more than 200 countries and territories.

Despite the creators angling for a six season run of the Florida-set family thriller early on, a myriad of problems have seen the show allotted just a third and final season to wrap up its story for the streaming service.

The series was originally planned for five seasons, but after Florida cut out their tax incentives on film production, the show became too expensive to produce so they cut it short. At least we'll get a solid conclusion to the story.

I was excited to learn earlier this summer that Netflix had renewed Bloodline for a third season. This is such an intense series, and if you haven't watched it you should because it's one hell of a great edge of your seat thriller. 

Unfortunately, the third season of this twisted family drama will be its last. The series was created by Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler, and when they first started, they hoped to tell this story they over the course of five or six seasons.

So season three wasn't supposed to be their last, but it looks like they are going to have to wrap it all up in the ten episodes of this last season. I'm kinda bummed out that the show is ending sooner than expected, but I'm sure the creators will finish strong.

Not only that, but THR’s report goes on to note that Netflix has now notified Sony that the show’s final bow will consist of just 10 episodes, down from the series norm of 13. That’s a surprising change of tact, particularly if you recall that back in July, Netflix brass exuded an air of confidence that suggested Bloodline had a long future on the streaming platform – heck, lead star Kyle Chandler joked recently that the Rayburns, the warring family at the heart of the drama, harbored enough dark secrets to fuel the Netflix Original long into the 2020s.

If you haven’t watched the first two seasons of Bloodline on Netflix yet, you need to remedy that right away. This is such a brilliantly crafted, intense, and twisted family drama that needs to be seen. With the way season two ended I hoped we would get to see a third season, and that next season is coming.

THR reports that the renewed show will get another 10 episodes and that it will return in 2017. Apparently there was a chance that season three wouldn’t happen because Florida’s state tax incentives expired and the state legislature voted against replenishing the funds, which means it will cost Sony Pictures and Netflix even more money to develop the series, which is shot in the state. Despite uncertainties surrounding its shooting location and an underwhelming sophomore season, Netflix has confirmed Bloodline season 3.

The Florida-set family thriller, from creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler, is set to return in 2017 for 10 episodes. Stars Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz will return to the cast.

A third season nearly didn’t happen as the Florida-shot series would be far more costly to produce after the state’s tax incentives program expired earlier this year and the state legislature voted against replenishing the funds. According to THR:

That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, confirming that the new season will span 10 episodes in total, as opposed the freshman run of 13 installments, and will premiere exclusively via Netflix in 2017.

Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini and Norbert Leo Butz were among the cast for Bloodline season 2, which proved to be notably underwhelming in comparison to its forebear. As such, we’re pleased to report that Sony’s familial thriller will return for another outing, though it’s unclear at this stage if the series will maintain tradition and lens in Florida Keys.

The dramatic thriller centers on a family of adult siblings in the Florida Keys whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home. The new season will kick off with John Rayburn now on the run and we'll find out what happens to him.

Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz are all expected back for ten new episodes which will premiere on the streaming service in 2017 (likely in the second quarter as per usual).

Netflix has ordered a third season of the Netflix original series, Bloodline, from creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler ("Kzk"), a dramatic thriller that centers on a family of adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the ten episode third season starring Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz will return to Netflix in 2017. Seasons one and two are currently streaming on Netflix in 4k.

The Bloodline TV show on Netflix has not yet been cancelled or renewed for a third season. Co-creators Glenn Kessler, Todd A. Kessler, and Daniel Zelman have plans for five or six seasons, but right now, they are just waiting to hear on season season three.

The decision to cancel or renew Bloodline, starring Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz, may well come down to costs.

One of the biggest struggles for any twist-heavy drama series is sustainability. Especially on broadcast, many surprising one-hour shows run out of gas in Season 1, forced to frontload their twists in order to attract an audience (or face cancellation). Though not on a network, "Bloodline" looked to be a prime example of this in its first season. The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.

Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

The Writers Guild of America announced some of its nominees for its 2015 awards on Thursday, including television, new media, and radio, and among the TV nominees are series both new and old, and all beloved.

In the comedy series category, freshman Netflix show "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" scored a nomination for best series, as well as an overall best new series nod. "The Last Man on Earth" also landed in that latter category, and was singled out for its pilot episode writing, too.

On the drama side of the equation, lauded "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" also got best series and best new series nominations, in addition to a an episode writing nod. Newly-minted Emmy winner "Game of Thrones" also scored a best drama citation, as well as an episodic writing nomination.
