Gemma Chan has an incredible resume overall, but she's especially made a name for herself with fantasy and science-fiction projects. One of her earliest roles was in an episode of "Doctor Who," and she's part of a elite group of actors who have played multiple roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying both Minn-Erve in "Captain Marvel" and Sersi in "Eternals." If you've enjoyed what you've seen out of Chan so far, then you owe it to yourself to check out one of the best sci-fi series of the 2010s — "Humans."
"Humans" premiered on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom (and AMC stateside) in 2015. It's set in a world where artificial intelligence and robotics have become intertwined, raising a host of moral questions. Chan plays Anita, a synth purchased to help out around the Hawkins family household. Though she's designed to be helpful, the family's matriarch, Laura (Katherine Parkinson), is...

Philip K. Dick’s novella The Variable Man gets an adaptation from Humans co-creators Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent. The author, also behind Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and The Man in the High Castle, has been widely regarded for his prominent impact on the sci-fi genre. Originally released in 1953, The Variable Man focuses on Thomas Cole, who is transported to the future amid a war between Terra and Centaurus.
According to Deadline, Brackley and Vincent are now adapting The Variable Man. Motive Pictures, the British company from Simon Maxwell, is collaborating with Electric Shepherd and the adaptation will air in the UK. However, Maxwell explains that having Brackley and Vincent on board and “exploring the modern world through a genre lens” can help garner a wide release in the United States. He adds that creating shows with strong talent can build “excitement to attract the commissions and co-finance...

Philip K. Dick‘s ever-prescient science fiction writing have been adapted into such works as Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, and “The Man in the High Castle.”
The Variable Man will soon join that list, as Deadline reports that Motive Pictures is developing a grounded sci-fi series based on the novella.
Motive’s Simon Maxwell is producing with Electric Shepherd, the banner that stewards Dick adaptations and is run by his daughter, Isa Dick Hackett.
The book is set in a distant future where humanity is locked in a protracted conflict with the reptilian alien species known as the Sirians. To gain an edge in the war, the military employs a team of scientists to develop a device capable of predicting future events with precision.
However, when a “variable man” named Thomas Cole accidentally arrives from the past, he disrupts the scientists’ plans. Cole’s presence introduces an element...

As an artistic medium that has reached audiences across the board of entertainment, animated television shows can offer viewers rousing storytelling, fun characters and engaging visuals that stay in fans’ minds, and the decade of the 2000s delivered numerous series that have maintained pop culture relevancy. The Scooby-Doo franchise marked its 55th anniversary this September, and it's genuinely hard to keep track with all the different TV series, specials, and movies (both theatrical and mostly direct-to-video or for TV). Despite all of that and more than half a century of media, only two actors have canonically played Shaggy, the delightfully raspy Bff of the titlular Great Dane. First came the legendary DJ Casey Kasem, who voiced the character for something like 372 episodes of television and 14 made-for-tv movies. Then there was Matthew Lillard, who first joined the franchise in the form of star-studded live-action movies before becoming the voice actor behind Shaggy for approximately 27 direct-to-video movies, eight TV specials, and 156 TV episodes. There is technically one more Shaggy out there...

Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai
I have never seen the Gremlins movie, but I know that gremlins smell bad and want to eat us. Just watching five minutes of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, I think it is already a really good TV show.
The show is 25 percent happy, 25 percent sad, 25 percent funny, and 25 percent disgusting. The disgusting parts are when fingers come off. It’s about a kid, Sam (Izaac Wang), who says, “I have no faith in myself. I can’t do it.” He has to hide this gremlin named Gizmo, who is so cute, and return it to its home. He finds this girl, Elle (Gabrielle Nevaeh Green), and they go on a big adventure to find its home. He’s kind of like a goody-two-shoes and the...

The following article contains spoilers for "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania."
"Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" has been out for a few days now. We've had some time to digest the adventures of the buggy superheroes in the Quantum Realm and draw some parallels to other Marvel Cinematic Universe adventures. In the film, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are sucked into the world beneath ours. While there, they meet a band of refugees who are fighting against the despotic ruler of the place, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). They band together to take him out, setting Scott (and the rest of the multiverse) on the path to their next chapter.

Detective Inspector Lou Slack (Leila Farzad) is a smart, hard-drinking, cigarette-smoking, highly effective police officer in the West Yorkshire force. She’s also a bent copper. But a bent copper who we desperately want to believe is also a “nice” bent copper. Redemption, after all, usually makes for great drama. And a dash of corruption in the lead character in a police show makes an intriguing change. Unlike in Line of Duty, here the high-ranking corrupt police officer is the investigator, not the investigated, the antihero who is also the hero. And unlike Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley – a hard act to follow – she’s wealthy and content with her life, complicated and compromised as it is. We want to know what Lou did that got her so entangled with the wrong side, and how she’s going to survive it as her web of deceit goes wrong. It’s...

I am decades away from the target audience for the just-released Krypto the Superdog: the Complete Series. Ever since the Canine of Steel arrived in 1955, he has been a popular supporting player, and with all-things super-heroic now part of the pop culture zeitgeist, it made perfect sense to give him a series for the younger side of the television demographic.
All 39 episodes of the 2005 series are presented here, adapted by producer Chris Mitchell. Joining Krypto (voiced by Sam Vincent) on his crimefighting adventures are Streaky (Brian Drummond), Supergirl’s pet cat, and Ace the Bathound (Scott McNeil). They even created Stretch-o-Mutt (Lee Tockar) to round things out. And if there are going to be animal heroes, there have to be animal villains, who happen to include the pets of Lex Luthor (Brian Dobson) and Catwoman. When things look dire, they can count on help from the Dog Star Patrol.

BAFTA-nominated I Hate Suzie star Leila Farzad and Broadchurch’s Andrew Buchan are to lead BBC One’s Better, the latest drama from prolific Chernobyl producer Sister.
Farzad, who was BAFTA-nominated for her role in Billie Piper and Lucy Prebble’s dramedy, will play Di Lou Slack, a quick-witted policewoman whose success lies on a foundation of deceit and corruption.
Buchan, who is also penning Sister drama Passenger for ITV, plays Col McHugh, a charming businessman and property developer who heads a citywide drug trafficking gang.
The show from Humans scribes Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent tells of the pair’s bond set in a world where they have created their own version of “right” and “wrong.”
Farzad called it a “a brilliant fresh take on the morality tale,” adding: “I am excited to have the opportunity to play Lou Slack, the vehicle through which we explore the multivalent layers of good and bad.

It's sad news for fans of speculative fiction—this was a good one, with a wonderful cast that includes Merlin's Colin Morgan and Crazy Rich Asians' Gemma Chan, among many others.

AMC and Channel 4’s sci-fi series “Humans” has been canceled after three seasons, an AMC spokesperson has confirmed to TheWrap.
Executive producers and writers Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent shared the news via Twitter on Monday.
“Sadly there won’t be a 4th season of ‘Humans.’ In this age of unprecedented choice and competition, we can have no complaints. Channel 4 & AMC were the perfect partners. They supported the show brilliantly and above all — let us make three seasons!” the pair wrote in a joint statement tweeted from Vincent’s account. “We know we left some threads hanging. That was the way we always wrote the show. Maybe one day we’ll get a chance to pick them back up. If there’s anyone out there with a few million quid and an interest in AI stories, we’re all ears.”

‘Humans’ is no more.
Writer and executive producer Sam Vincent announced the news on Twitter that the show, which aired on AMC and the U.K.’s Channel 4, would not be returning for a fourth season.
“In this age of unprecedented choice and competition, we can have no complaints,” he wrote, adding that he and fellow exec producer Jonathan Brackley felt “gutted of course, but we were so lucky.”
“We got to make the show we wanted to make, for 24 episodes. The Humans cast and crew were and are the best, and we wouldn’t have got a 2nd season without their talent and dedication, let alone a 3rd.”

Has your head stopped spinning yet? Have you picked your jaw up from the floor? Have you slid back so that you're no longer on the edge of your seat?
Shooter Season 3 Episode 8 felt like the culmination of everything we've been waiting for this season. It felt like a penultimate finale, but it's not. That means we have more installments remaining, and the prospect of seeing where else this series will go is exciting.
It was evident the narrative would focus more on the Bamas and Swaggers on a personal front rather than the ongoing Swagger Squad goodness.
The Swagger Squad and the decryption card business took a backseat, and that could have easily been disappointing only because the team element has been such a highlight. However, this hour had Everything and was one of the best of the season thus far!

Humans, the Gemma Chan-fronted sci-fi drama for AMC and UK’s Channel 4, is coming back for a third season and this time the robots are controlled by a predominantly female team.
Emma Kingsman-Lloyd has joined the Kudos-produced series as exec producer and Vicki Delow joins as producer. Jill Roberston, who previously directed series including Hulu’s Harlots, has come on board as lead director along with a multitude of female crew.
Kingsman-Lloyd, who has previously worked on shows such as Grantchester and Flowers, said it gave the latest season of the show, created by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, a different tone and a different feeling on set. “It was interesting coming in to a show that had been predominantly run by a male exec, male series producer and male producer.
