Jennifer Carpenter Sets Sail in Sea of Fire Post-Dexter
With Dexter now behind her, Jennifer Carpenter is a hot commodity for any television pilot. And thank goodness because, while Carpenter was one of the few still really good things about Dexter, I was tired off watching her on a series that was forever in a downward spiral. Let’s just hope that whatever her next project is it doesn’t wind up being as disappointing as Dexter. Unfortunately, the pilot that managed to swipe her up doesn’t have enough information surrounding it to be able to tell if it’s going to be worth it. All I can tell you is that it’s going be vaguely like Twin Peaks, which might mean it could be like The Killing, which is off-putting.

According to TVLine, Carpenter will be starring in ABC’s Sea of Fire. The tragedy of this announcement is that there were no details on what role Carpenter would be playing.

‘Sea Of Fire’ & Shondaland’s ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Get ABC Pilot Orders
Exclusive: ABC has given early pilot orders to two dramas: Sea Of Fire, based on a Dutch format, and How To Get Away With Murder, from Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers’ Shondaland. Both projects are in the serialized thriller/mystery genre and come from writers groomed by Rhimes who work on her hot ABC drama Scandal – executive producer Jenna Bans and co-executive producer Peter Nowalk. Sea Of Fire, from Sony Pictures TV, Scripted World and Mandeville, was written by Bans. When three teenage girls star in a pornographic film, it tears their families apart and leads to a disappearance, a murder and host of other secrets boiling under the surface in a small town. The original series, Vuurzee, which drew comparisons to Twin Peaks, was produced by and aired on pubcaster Vara and ran for two seasons that aired four years apart, in 2005 and in 2009. Sea Of Fire is executive...

ABC Teams With Jenna Bans, Mandeville, Sony, Scripted World To Adapt Dutch Series
Exclusive: Sea Of Fire is back in development at ABC. The network has closed a deal to take another stab at adapting the Dutch drama series with Sony Pictures TV and Scripted World, which first teamed last season. Joining them this year is ABC Studios-based Mandeville and writer-producer Jenna Bans, who replaces the project’s writer last year, Steve Maeda. Sea Of Fire is set in a small town. When three teenage girls star in a pornographic film, it tears their families apart and leads to a disappearance, a murder and host of other secrets boiling under the surface. The original series, Vuurzee, was set in a fictional resort town and centered on the disappearance of a young woman during a birthday party celebration. (Watch opening credits below.) The series, which drew comparisons to Twin Peaks, was produced by and aired on pubcaster Vara and ran for two seasons that aired four years apart,...
