Why Jurassic Park Author Michael Crichton Didn't Write The Script Used For The Movie
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Michael Crichton is, by some measures, one of the most successful writers of all time. Not only were many of his books themselves massive hits, but oftentimes, they were turned into hits movies and TV shows. Crichton even had the number one show, movie, and book at the same time. That's impressive. He also penned the scripts for several movies in his day. Yet, he didn't pen the final script for 1993's "Jurassic Park," the biggest movie ever made based on one of his books.

Crichton wrote "Jurassic Park" first as a movie before turning it into a book. That book quickly grabbed Hollywood's attention, with a bidding war ensuing over the rights to turn it into a movie. In the end, Steven Spielberg and Universal Pictures won out, with Crichton collaborating with the "E.T." filmmaker to help turn...

We Explored The Real-Life Jurassic World Rebirth Locations — And It's All On Video
Image
To celebrate the home video release of "Jurassic World Rebirth," Universal Home Entertainment invited /Film and a few other outlets to Thailand to see several of the locations where the film was shot, as well as interview director Gareth Edwards and some of the cast.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, was on hand to explain why Thailand is a great place for Hollywood productions to shoot, and she spoke about how part of the draw is the variety of landscapes that can be found here within a relatively short distance. As if to underline that point, we spent the next few days exploring three distinctly different environments seen in the movie. Here are the highlights of our "land, air, and sea" adventure.

For the "land" section, we drove two hours from our hotel to the grasslands in Krabi, where the titanosaurus DNA is obtained in the movie.

Cold Storage: Liam Neeson, Joe Keery & Georgina Campbell Face An Explosive Outbreak In First Red Band Trailer
Image
“That f*cking deer just took the f*cking elevator.”

The first teaser trailer for a new sci-fi horror comedy titled Cold Storage has been released online, and this one looks like it could be a lot of gruesome, gloopy fun.

Starring Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian) and Liam Neeson (The Naked Gun), the story focuses on a pair of self-storage employees (Keery and Campbell) who must fight to survive after an outbreak of a lethal parasitic fungus which makes quick - and explosively messy - work of anyone it infects.

Neeson plays a military man who first encounters the fungus, but we don't expect to see much of him in this movie (there's a good chance the trailer features shots from all of his scenes).

Jonny Campbell (Dracula) directs from a script written by David Koepp based on his novel. Zombieland and Panic Room’s Gavin Polone is producing,...

Cold Storage: teaser trailer for Liam Neeson, Joe Keery sci-fi virus thriller has bodies exploding all over the place
Liam Neeson, Georgina Campbell, and Joe Keery in Cold Storage (2026)
Three years have gone by since we first heard about the comedic sci-fi virus thriller Cold Storage, which went into production two years ago. Earlier this year, we learned that Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the North American distribution rights and are planning to give the film a nationwide theatrical release… but that’s not expected to happen until sometime in 2026. While we wait for a specific release date to be announced, a teaser trailer has dropped online and can be seen in the embed above.

Doctor Who and Westworld director Jonny Campbell took the helm of Cold Storage, working from a screenplay by David Koepp. Koepp has been one of the biggest screenwriters in Hollywood for about thirty years at this point, having worked on such films as Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Panic Room, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,...

Cold Storage Trailer: Liam Neeson Tackles Fungus Apocalypse in Comedy-Horror Film
Image
The trailer for Liam Neeson's next movie, Cold Storage, has arrived. Neeson plays Pentagon bioterror operative Robert Quinn in the apocalyptic horror-comedy movie, which follows two self-storage company employees (Stranger Things' Joe Keery and Barbarian's Georgina Campbell) who accidentally unleash a parasitic fungus upon the world.

While this premise sounds similar to the post-apocalyptic HBO series The Last of Us and the video games it is based on, Cold Storage adapts a 2019 novel by Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp. Koepp also wrote the screenplay for the movie, which was directed by Alien Autopsy's Jonny Campbell and is set to debut in 2026.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has now unveiled the official trailer for Cold Storage. The trailer begins in an apocalyptic landscape where a team in Hazmat suits discovers horribly desiccated corpses. While this scene is intense, the comedy angle kicks in when the trailer introduces Keery and Campbell's bumbling characters,...

Jonathan Bailey Teases Sequel Rumors Before Jurassic World Rebirth Even Hits Digital
Image
Jonathan Bailey is already stirring sequel buzz for Jurassic World Rebirth before the movie even lands on digital. In a recent interview with Et Online, the actor laughed about not knowing exactly where the story could go next but called the film a perfect “reset” for the franchise. He even joked that he’d skip his next vacation if it meant helping director Gareth Edwards on another installment.

Edwards didn’t confirm any direct sequel plans but pointed out that previous Jurassic films often left certain characters out, only to bring them back later. The duo together added:

Remember, the second Jurassic film didn’t have Dr. Alan Grant… or Ellie… but they came back in the third one.

That comment alone has us wondering if a similar approach could shape the next chapter.

Jurassic World Rebirth will be available to rent and buy digitally on Amazon, Apple TV, and Fandango,...

Jurassic Park Trilogy Ott Release Date Update: When & Where To Stream The Dino Blockbuster Franchise Again?
Image
Jurassic Park Trilogy Returns To Netflix US(Photo Credit –Prime Video)

Jurassic Park changed everything when it hit theaters in 1993. The dinosaurs came stomping onto the screen in a way with effects never seen before, coupled with terrific storytelling, and audiences were hooked from the very first scene.

The original, directed by Steven Spielberg and from Michael Crichton’s novel, was a monster success, introducing Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm – characters that audiences love even decades later. The original film’s success proved that sequels were only a matter of time, and although none have the sheer impact of the original, they cemented their place in movie history. The Lost World brought back Ian Malcolm and added a darker tone, but still cashed in big. Jurassic Park III returned to the island with Grant and Sattler, and while reviews were mixed, it is still a casual movie success.

Image
Jurassic World Rebirth is stomping its way up a major box office chart. The new Universal movie, which was directed by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay by David Koepp, is the seventh feature-length installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, focusing on a group of new original characters portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey.

Per The Numbers, Jurassic World Rebirth took in an additional $2.4 million at the domestic box office on Tuesday, partway through its fourth full week in theaters. This brings its cumulative domestic total to $305.7 million, cementing its status as the third highest-grossing domestic movie of the year so far.

Additionally, its global box office haul has reached a total of at least $723.8 million, which sees it racing up Universal's all-time chart. It has surpassed the $719.4 million global total earned by 2021's F9: The Fast Saga to become the studio's 19th highest-grossing movie of all time.

Liam Neeson, Georgina Campbell, and Joe Keery in Cold Storage (2026)
Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the North American rights to Studiocanal’s comedic sci-fi horror movie Cold Storage, and it has officially received an “R” rating.

Cold Storage has been rated “R“ this week for “violent content, gore, and language.”

Joe Keery (“Stranger Things“), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Liam Neeson (Taken), Sosie Bacon (Smile), Vanessa Redgrave (Mission: Impossible), and Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) star.

The film follows “Teacake (Keery) and Naomi (Campbell), two employees at a self-storage facility built atop a former military base, whose night shift transforms into a nightmare when a government-sealed parasitic fungus escapes from the underground levels. As temperatures rise, the microorganism unleashes its brain-controlling, body-bursting mayhem on anything in its path. The duo must join forces with a weathered bioterror operative (Neeson) to contain the threat before it triggers humanity’s extinction.”

The pesky Cordyceps fungus strikes again in the genre space, spelling disaster, suspense, and death in Cold Storage.

Why Steven Spielberg Wanted To Remove Jurassic World's Franchise Easter Eggs
Image
Steven Spielberg is almost singlehandedly responsible for creating '80s American movie pop culture as we know it. His work not only broke commercial records and broke new ground in how films could get made, but they defined the look and feel of the '80s on screen. He also influenced virtually every filmmaker of the last 30 years in one way or another, so it's hard for a high-concept genre film not to have some inspiration from a Spielberg movie, whether it's an action-adventure movie grabbing from "Raiders of the Lost Ark," a sci-fi family movie grabbing from "E.T.," or a creature feature taking cues from "Jurassic Park" or "Jaws."

Homages, callbacks, nods, and outright recreations of Spielberg's movies are common, but when it comes to movies Spielberg himself is involved with, they become a big no-no for the legendary filmmaker. At least, that's what Gareth Edwards experienced when working on "Jurassic World Rebirth,...

With a production budget reportedly set at $180 million and an additional $90 million spent on marketing, Rebirth needed to bring in roughly $540 million globally to break even, based on the standard 50/50 revenue share with theaters. It surpassed that benchmark weeks ago.

Avengers: Doomsday | Marvel hasn’t finished writing its script, X-Men star says
Image
Rebecca Romijn, returning as Mystique in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, suggests that the script isn’t “finished”, despite filming being underway.

Shooting began on Marvel’s expansive, majorly expensive Avengers: Doomsday in April this year, with directors Anthony and Joe Russo rushing to get the film ready for a December 2026 release date. The production’s a good few weeks into its production, then, but according to one prominent member of its huge ensemble, the script is still being written as cameras roll.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at Comic Con (via Collider), actor Rebecca Romijn was there to promote Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. When asked about her role in Avengers: Doomsday, however, Romijn, who’s reprising her turn as Mystique from the X-Men movies, expressed uncertainty.

Not only did she say she was “not quite sure” whether the Russos had filmed all of her scenes or not, but...

Image
Jurassic World Rebirth marks the seventh entry in the Jurassic Park universe. Overall, the dinosaur franchise has been an extremely successful film series, and its success continues.

2025 has been a Russian roulette for many films out there, with some projects failing to reach their full potential. However, that is not the case for Jurassic World Rebirth, although the new entry has had mixed reviews from critics. Rebirth has just overtaken Peter Jackson's creature feature King Kong two decades later, both at the domestic and international box office, as its haul indicates on The Numbers.

Jurassic World Rebirth serves as a sequel to 2022's Jurassic World Dominion, although it features a brand-new cast. The film is set five years after the Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard-led action film, and it features a world in which the recently released dinosaurs have started dying off in different climates, except in a few select regions.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Will Roar Onto Digital Sooner Than Expected Despite Just Hitting Massive Box Office Milestone
Image
Jurassic World Rebirth might still be devouring the competition in theaters, but Universal Pictures is already looking ahead to its next big move — home entertainment. Despite becoming one of the year’s biggest box office hits, the dino blockbuster will be arriving on digital platforms much sooner than expected. According to DVDs Release Dates, Jurassic World Rebirth is set for digital release on August 5, 2025, just over a month after its theatrical debut. That means if you haven’t braved the multiplex crowds — or simply want to relive the spectacle from the comfort of your sofa — your chance is almost here.

Set five years after JurassicWorld Dominion, the reboot/sequel hybrid finds dinosaurs still clinging to survival in pockets of equatorial environments. A big pharma company sends an elite team to a remote island to recover genetic material from the planet’s last surviving giants — creatures that may hold the key to a life-saving medical breakthrough.

One Jurassic World Rebirth Line Is Harder To Believe Than Dinosaurs Living Today
Image
32 years ago, Steven Spielberg changed blockbuster cinema forever when he wowed moviegoers with a photorealistic brachiosaurus early in the first act of "Jurassic Park." This creature was a stunning sight for a couple of reasons, the first being that many of us went into the film thinking the director of "Jaws" would tease the reveal of the dinos for much longer than he did. The second was the jaw-dropping realization that we'd just watched computer-generated imagery take an unfathomable leap from the impressive liquid metal morphing of the T-1000 in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" to something that felt like pure sorcery.

Where to go from here? After some initial timidity, Hollywood went whole hog on CGI, which only served to demonstrate that these new tools were best left to filmmakers who understood how to deftly integrate visual effects into the fabric of a practically shot movie. Alas, the studios demanded...

Jurassic World Rebirth Tops Half-Billion Worldwide And Holds Strong Even With Superman's Arrival
Image
After a strong debut, there was speculation that Jurassic World Rebirth might cut into Superman’s opening weekend box office. However, both films appear to have found a way to coexist in North America, managing to perform well without significantly hurting each other.

In its second weekend, Jurassic World Rebirth saw a 57% drop in domestic earnings, fairly standard for a major tentpole release. Looking at other top 2025 films, this trend holds:

Lilo & Stitch opened with $146.01 million and dropped 57% to $63 million in weekend number two. A Minecraft Movie debuted at $162.75 million, followed by $80.6 million the next weekend- a 50% dip. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning went from $64.04 million to $27.22 million- a 57% drop. How to Train Your Dragon opened at $84.63 million, dropping 56% to $36.58 million the following weekend. Sinners, however, broke the pattern, falling just 5% from $48.01 million to $45 million- a highly unusual hold for a blockbuster.

In short, Jurassic World Rebirth’s performance...
