This Heartbreaking 20-Year-Old Episode of Scrubs Is 1 of Zach Braff's Favorites
Image
Quick Links This Episode Offers Fans a Devastating Twist My Screw Up Pays Tribute to a Cult Thriller Scrubs Fans Can’t Praise This Episode Highly Enough

When Scrubs first premiered in 2001, it was instantly praised for being different. While other sitcoms of this time were discussing the frustrations of domestic life, this medical comedy highlighted the ups and downs of working in such a stressful line of work. From Jd's fantasy sequences to the friendships seen throughout Sacred Heart Hospital, Scrubs captivated audiences with its blend of slapstick and situational comedy.

But, when this show isn't trying to make the audience laugh, it's usually making them cry. "My Screw Up" is a prime example of how Scrubs carefully blends comedy and tragedy, helping to create one of the most upsetting episodes in TV history. But why is this episode so sad, and why does the cast regard it as one of their favorites?...

Omitb Season 3: Every Episode Ranked by IMDb
Image
Only Murders in the Building recently released its third season. Although it begins slower than the past two seasons, the tension built up by the end makes the slow pace well worth it. This season's star-studded cast and theatrical premise also offered a new spin on the Only Murders premise. Since most fans have seen the latest season by now, IMDb has released its official rankings for each episode.

Overall, Omitb Season 3 received positive reviews, but there were definite favorites. The incorporation of music in this season had a lot to do with the rankings and showcases how fans feel about its inclusion moving forward.

This Is Us: Timothy Omundson Reveals Why He's Giving 15 Million People a Ringside Seat to His Stroke Recovery
Timothy Omundson
Nearly three years since suffering a massive stroke that nearly took his life, beloved TV vet Timothy Omundson (Psych, Judging Amy) returned to the small screen last week via a recurring role on NBC’s This Is Us. In a direct parallel to the actor’s own life, his character, a curmudgeon named Gregory who befriends new mom Kate (Chrissy Metz), is also recovering from a stroke.

And early next year, Omundson’s odds-defying comeback will continue when he reprises his role as Santa Barbara Police Chief Carlton “Lassie” Lassiter in Psych 2: Lassie Come Home. In another instance of art imitating life,...

Paul Verhoeven at an event for Hollow Man (2000)
Dan Fogelman Remembers “Playful and Fun” Rutger Hauer
Paul Verhoeven at an event for Hollow Man (2000)
In a nod to Paul Verhoeven’s cult 1969 series, Floris star Rutger Hauer in 2014 was tapped for a recurring role on Dan Fogelman’s ABC musical fairytale comedy series Galavant. It was an inspired casting, and Fogelman today remembered fondly the beloved genre actor who died July 19 at age 75 after a long illness.

“I was so saddened to hear the news about Rutger’s passing,” Fogelman told Deadline. “He joined us in the UK during our run on Galavant. He was playful and fun and we never quite knew what he was going to do from moment to moment… which was terrifying and thrilling all at once. Much like him. He will be missed.”

Best known for his role in another cult project, the 1982 movie Blade Runner, Dutch actor Hauer got his break in his native country when he landed the title role in Floris, also about a wronged knight...

Timothy Omundson Sings 'Crazy, Silly' Galavant's Praises, Shares How Psych Rekindled His Love for Musical Theater
Joshua Sasse in Galavant (2015)
Timothy Omundson is singing a most happy tune.

Even though ABC’s Galavant is wrapping its sophomore staging this Sunday at 8/7c, the veteran actor cannot say enough about the ambitious musical-comedy, which this season pumped in a lot of heart on top of hummable tunes and anachronistic humor.

As deposed King Richard and his bestie Galavant ready to lead a zombie army into war with Madalena and Gareth’s kingdom of Valencia, the Psych alum shared with TVLine the story of the months-long journey that led him to revisit his love of musical-theater. (Now if only Omundson’s missus...

Jimmy Fallon
Fox Announces 2015-2016 Fall TV Schedule
Jimmy Fallon
Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group, today unveiled the Fox primetime slate for the 2015-2016 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre. Here's what the CEO's had to say in a joint statement.

"Building on the phenomenal momentum created by Gotham, The Last Man on Earth and, of course, Empire, we're infusing next season's schedule with new ambitious dramas, smart comedies, aspirational unscripted series and big live events and specials - all from the best creators in the business. And our strategy with these bold creative swings is simple: schedule them strategically, market them relentlessly and create events that break through and captivate viewers across every platform."

Tuesdays are all-new this fall on Fox, with new comedies Grandfathered and The Grinder, followed by killer comedy-horror series Scream Queens. The new comedies kicking off an all-new Tuesday are Grandfathered and The Grinder.

John Stamos
Fox picks up 'The Guide to Surviving Life,' John Stamos' 'Grandfathered'
John Stamos
The joys of piecemeal pre-upfronts pilot ordering!  One hour after announcing pickups for the comedy "The Grinder" and the drama "Rosewood," Fox added a pair of comedies to its 2015-2016 slate. Earning series orders for Fox are "Grandfathered," starring John Stamos, and the ensemble "The Guide to Surviving Life." While specifics on scheduling won't be revealed until Fox announces its whole schedule on Monday (May 11) morning, the network notes that the "Guide to Surviving Life" order is for six episode.  Both comedies are single-cams. Let's get to the details... "Grandfathered" is John Stamos' return to primetime -- Sorry, "Fuller House" -- and comes from ABC Studios and 20th Century Fox TV. Stamos plays a bachelor whose life changes rather dramatically when he discovers that he's a father and a grandfather at the same time.  The pilot was written by Danny Chun and directed by Chris Koch. Stamos will serve...

Galavant, Ep. 1.03-1.04: “Two Balls” & “Comedy Gold” fail to develop the supporting characters
Galavant, Season 1, Episode 3, “Two Balls” Written by Dan Fogelman Directed by Chris Koch

Galavant, Season 1, Episode 4, “Comedy Gold” Written by Kat Likkel & John Hoberg Directed by John Fortenberry Airs Sundays at 8pm Est on ABC

The third and fourth episodes of Galavant wisely focus on strengthening the bonds between the main trio on their journey to do… something. On a quest. There’s singing?

Probably the biggest fault with Galavant right now is its marriage between humor and plot. This isn’t a show where one tunes in to watch what happens next and the show’s go-with-it tone makes for quite a forgetful voyage. Why are our “heroes”—Galavant, Isabella and Sid—traveling to King Richard’s kingdom? The episodes remind viewers that Isabella is definitely double crossing Galavant, our egotistical hero, and that there is a very important Macguffin crystal, but besides that, is anyone really watching for the plot?...

‘Galavant’ Review: ABC Musical Series Hits All the Right Notes
Joshua Sasse in Galavant (2015)
Arrive to ABC’s event series “Galavant” with all the skepticism you can muster. I surely did. A musical comedy that will be instantly compared to the iconic Monty Python productions? I prepared myself for the worst.

To tell you the truth, I didn’t believe that we had the talent today to pull off the delicate balance of a comedic musical fairy tale series set in medieval times. Then, throw in the challenge of a hardened audience and the feat becomes even more difficult.

“Galavant” arrives as the networks are trying to provide year-round programming between the hiatuses of...

Miles Fisher, Mike Castle To Star In Comedy Central Pilot ‘Bad Advice From My Brother’
Miles Fisher (Final Destination 5) and Mike Castle will topline the Comedy Central pilot Bad Advice From My Brother, lifting the contingency on the project. Reggie Watts co-stars in the project, based on Jordan Pope Roush’s blog of the same name, which follows the adventures of two brothers — Jason (Fisher), the older, not necessarily wiser brother who has spent most of his post-college life chasing women and the almighty dollar on Wall Street, and Ben (Castle), his younger brother who wants to follow in his footsteps — and their neighbor Reggie (Watts). When Ben moves in, Jason sees this as an opportunity to reflect on his mistakes and steer Ben onto an opposite path. Unfortunately for Ben, Jason’s advice is usually bad and creates more problems than solutions. Roush wrote the script and is executive producing with showrunner Brad Copeland, Chris Koch, who will direct, and Trevor Engelson. Tony Hernandez co-exec produces,...

ABC's 'The Neighbors': The story behind fall's craziest new show
The Neighbors (2012)
ABC’s The Neighbors concerns a family that moves into a community…full of human-looking aliens…who communicate via something called a Pupar…and cry green goo from their ears. Yep, you’re thinking: Did TV time-travel back to 1996, when “wacky” sitcoms (see: 3rd Rock From the Sun) were all the rage?

How’d the season’s oddest new comedy come to be? Looking for answers, we grilled everyone who helped bring The Neighbors (which debuts tonight at 9:30 p.m., before moving to 8:30 p.m. starting Oct. 3) to life to discover how this wild concept — Pupar and all — landed on Earth.

The Neighbors (2012)
The Risk Factor: Rating fall's new TV shows
The Neighbors (2012)
Every new TV show is a gamble. That’s especially true in the crowded fall season, when the networks roll out an array of new shows. Many of them won’t make it to a second season – and even if they do, it takes years for a TV show to turn a profit. There are ways to mitigate the risk, of course. You cast a recognizable actor. You work with a successful producer – look, there’s Ryan Murphy doing his Ryan Murphy thing with The New Normal! And even in the modern era of DVR and downloading, a good timeslot is still essential.

ABC Announces Fall Schedule – Get A Peek At What’s Coming
Terry O'Quinn as Gavin Doran in "666 Park Avenue" (ABC/Andrew Eccles)

ABC‘s slate of new shows for fall has a strange flavor to it, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride. The network has about as many new shows as returning ones (if you count all the midseasons), and a good percentage of the returning offerings are a year old or less, making this look a bit like a rebuilding year.

Not only is it a rebuilding year, but it’s the year of bringing back every actor and actress who ever had a decent run on a show before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a network’s new season slate that was so crammed with people returning from something else. If you can’t make it good, I suppose, make sure viewers recognize the faces.

It’s tricky to get a solid feel...

ABC Releases 2012-2013 Schedule and Trailers for 666 Park Avenue, The Neighbors, Zero Hour
Yesterday was ABC‘s turn for upfront presentations, which meant that yesterday morning the network released its fall schedule and more detailed information about its new 2012-2013 series. We’ve been watching the development of 666 Park Avenue starring Terry O’Quinn for some time now, and had been keeping an eye on the alien comedy The Neighbors, but we got a wonderful surprise today when we saw the full description of midseason (meaning 2013) series Zero Hour starring Anthony Edwards.

We had been told that he played a skeptic whose wife gets abducted, but happily, as we found today, he is a “confessed paranormal junkie” and that he will be running ”a breathless race against the clock to find his wife and save humanity.” Ooo, save humanity! It’s also said to be a DaVinci Code-type hunt with ancient clues. What sealed it for me was the trailer, which we have for you.
