‘1923’ Season 2 Finale Recap: The Season Saved the Best for Last
Image

Season two, episode seven — the second-season finale of Paramount+’s 1923 — delivered the answers it needed to, including one that has lingered since the first season of Yellowstone: Who is the grandfather of John Dutton III, played by Kevin Costner? The extended season two finale was brutal and bloody, and not everyone survived. It was also heart-wrenching and, in a way, heartwarming. (Keeping it vague here for those who accidentally start reading this recap before watching the finale.)

The ending leaves the possibility of a third season open, so don’t lose hope that Taylor Sheridan isn’t finished with Spencer’s story. Now, let’s move on to the lengthy recap, which begins by wrapping up Teonna’s storyline for the season.

Marshal Mamie Fossett (Jennifer Carpenter), Two Spears (Doug Hall), and Deputy Clint Peterson (Steve Luna...

'I Was Angry': 1923 Star Reveals Honest Reaction to Character's Shocking Fate
Image
This article contains spoilers for 1923 Season 2, Episode 6: "The Mountain Teeth of Monsters."

The Yellowstone prequel series 1923's recently aired episode saw the shocking deaths of seven characters leading up to this week's extended finale. One of the actors who had their character die during the episode shared how they dealt with the surprise.

1923 Season 2, Episode 6: "The Mountain Teeth of Monsters" saw tragedy strike after Clyde (Brian Konowal) killed Jack Dutton (Darren Mann), along with six other characters. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Mann mourned the loss of his character, saying he had no idea the deaths were coming. It’s a tough one. When I read it, I went through all sorts of emotions. I was angry at first. I was p***ed off. I was sad. I really grieved him in a whole bunch of different ways because I love playing Jack so much," he explained.

‘This is what he does all the damn time’: ‘1923’ Season 2 Killing the Best Characters Make No Sense After 6 Episodes of Agony
Image
Seriously, 1923, what are we even doing here? Six episodes of blood, sweat, and emotional torment, and for what? Just to watch another top-tier character bite the dust? This is Taylor Sheridan’s go-to move at this point – build up someone incredible, make us care, then rip them away like it’s his personal sport. And this time, it makes no damn sense. None. Zilch. Nada.

After all the pain and struggle, you’d think survival would count for something. But hell nah, Sheridan’s out here playing Grim Reaper again, and frankly speaking, it is so exhausting. If this is the pattern, should we even get attached anymore?

‘1923’ Star Grieved the Loss of His Character After Season 2 Shocker
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the penultimate episode of 1923 season two, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.”]

There’s a reason Jack Dutton was so trusting of Clyde when he came upon him in the woods during the dark of night. The Dutton played by Darren Mann, whose great uncle is Harrison Ford’s Jacob Dutton, had actually interviewed Clyde for a job for the Montana Livestock Association back in season one.

Clyde, as 1923 viewers now tragically know, is one of Banner Creighton’s (Jerome Flynn) henchmen who was sent to infiltrate the Dutton family and report back for the Yellowstone prequel’s big bad, Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton). In this week’s sixth and penultimate season two episode, titled “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters,” Clyde in a shock twist shoots and kills Jack. It’s a surprising scene — even for a series like 1923 where no one’s life is guaranteed. This episode actually killed off a whopping seven characters. Two of the deaths are sure to elicit cheers from the audience,...

Image

Life is relentlessly difficult for the Duttons, and Paramount+’s 1923 season two episode six delivers a series of heartbreaking events. Just when you think the key characters are finally edging closer to a reunion at Yellowstone Ranch, the writers pull the rug out from under them.

And now our recap of season two episode six, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.” There are spoilers ahead!

The Duttons gather around the breakfast table for a relatively peaceful breakfast that doesn’t hint at the battle looming on the horizon. Zane (Brian Geraghty) is eager to get back on a horse, but Jacob (Harrison Ford) reminds him that not even a bruise heals in a week. Both Jacob and Cara (Helen Mirren) have relaxed smiles, noting this is the first time since before the war that every...
