Deadpool and Wolverine was the pleasant surprise that the entire world was sorely missing. Who doesn’t love the Merc with a Mouth? Paired with the short-tempered furball, it was the perfect combo to attract a huge fanbase. Every scene of the movie was hugely iconic, with multiple references, fourth wall breaks, and flying insults.
The movie might have been released in 2024, but it’s still too soon to let the craze die. So, once you have watched it twice, thrice, and multiple times, you are still missing out on a vital source of entertainment: the Japanese dub version of Deadpool and Wolverine!

When most think of anime, they picture long-running series that last for many years with multiple seasons. When a series is popular, it’s especially expected for it to stick around for a long while. Classics like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece have hundreds of episodes for fans to enjoy, making them staples of the medium. But as the years have gone by, anime has gotten shorter and shorter, usually capping at around 12 or 13 episodes. These shorter series don’t even adapt the full manga, leaving the story unfinished.
Many anime series have ended way earlier than they should have over the years, and even the most popular titles aren’t immune to this disappointing phenomenon. Though it’s always a shock, anime end prematurely for many reasons, from an unfinished manga to production issues and more. While it’s unclear if these titles will ever get a continuation,...

The shojo anime genre has been around for decades and has provided fans with some of the best series. Fan favorites like Fruits Basket and Yona of the Dawn have led many viewers to try other shojo properties as well. Newer fans typically go for more recent anime, but some old gems are just as good (if not better) than a lot of the current shojo anime series.
The best older shojo anime give audiences a feeling of nostalgia, from more fantastical plotlines to an “exaggerated realism” animation style. They also portray a wider breadth of surprisingly empowering female characters for the time of their creation. Shojo anime nowadays are great, but these lost diamonds should not be kept in the dark, either.

For fans who are feeling a wave of nostalgia, there's no time like the present to re-watch old favorites and treasure the memories of first seeing these anime series and films. These anime may be 25 years old now, but that doesn't mean they've lost their worth since they first aired. If anything, they've gotten better with time.

For every shōnen action manga series or 'by the numbers' isekai storyline, there's bound to be others that have the opposite problem. Plenty of manga will start with intriguing storylines that slowly unravel readers' brains as the characters and story beats become less consistent. Interesting characters from early chapters can become lost in the shuffle in the chaos of what's happening in the story. It contributes to readers being hit with the feeling that the manga they're reading can move too quickly.
However, these flawed stories can still fascinate in their own way. Sometimes, a reader may not want to read a story that makes perfect sense. Being able to turn their brain off and enjoy a chaotic story could fulfil in its own right. These series might not be easy to follow, but the amount of confusion they bring is still fascinating.

Sailor Moon set the standard for magical girl, shojo, and romance anime. It follows Sailor Moon's love story with Tuxedo Mask in their current lives, and in their past lives as princess of the Moon Kingdom and prince of Earth. They have a swoon-worthy story, where they meet as their celestial alter egos, and they immediately feel a pull toward one another.
Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask have a bit of a tsundere dynamic in the '90s anime adaptation, and tsundere romances will always be popular in romance anime. After the first story arc, their romance becomes more nuanced. Their romance is so iconic that it popularized certain character tropes and inspired elements of future romance anime.

While not every great anime starts out that way, there are some incredible series that blow viewers' minds with the very first episode. These series later go on to prove just how good they are, but it's their first episodes that really set the tone for what they're going for. There's a common "three-episode rule" in the world of anime that states that a viewer shouldn't drop a series until they've given the show at least three episodes. Some series only need a third of that.
It's hard to nail the first episode of an anime, especially if the series needs to tell the story of a prologue before the events of the series. Most series' first episodes are somewhere around 22 minutes long without commercials or opening/closing music, making it incredibly difficult to captivate audiences right away. While it might seem difficult, some anime series show that it isn't impossible.

Shojo anime are stories adapted from light novels and manga, written and marketed for a young female audience. Romance tends to be a big part of shojo, and it's often the main plot, with other subplots surrounding it rather than the reverse. Fantasy shojo is a subgenre that covers many kinds of stories, from isekai and high fantasy to urban paranormal and magical realism.
The best shojo anime have well-developed protagonists and love interests. Kuudere and tsundere love interests are one of the more popular character types in new release shojo fantasy. These characters are nuanced, and are more than simple archetypes or stereotypes.

Nintendo may be well known for their work in the video game market, but this company does more than just make amazing games. They've also made their share of anime from time to time based on the video games their fans know and love.
Everything from Super Mario Bros. to Animal Crossing has received its own adaptation, many of which many fans have glossed over. Those fans should give Nintendo's other works a chance, especially if they are fans of those video games too. Nintendo may be a pro at making video games, but they're not half bad at making anime either.

Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem is a 1996 adventure fantasy anime based on the Super Famicom game of the same name. The adaptation consisted of two Ova episodes, each about thirty minutes long.

Shojo is a unique anime demographic that caters to young female audiences. Unlike its counterpart, shonen, shojo focuses less on action or adventure and more on character-driven stories. Shojo are often rich with emotion and usually possess greater depth than the typical anime series. There’s a strong emphasis on interpersonal relationships that lead to some very dramatic story arcs.
The shojo demographic is well-known for its heightened drama that stirs the soul and tugs at the heartstrings. These thrilling stories tend to revolve around romance, friendship, and personal growth, though they can also get much darker at times. Shojo anime aren’t afraid to delve into some heavy subjects, and many don’t hold back on these topics. Science fiction manga isn't as common as fantasy-based manga, and this can be seen in popular shonen works alone. Most of these verge closer to the fantasy genre, though sci-fi lends itself a bit better to darker stories. This is especially the case with some of the best examples of the genre.
Some of the darkest sci-fi manga are harsh, takes on the mecha genre, while others do the same for space travel and space operas. Many of them are grounded with all too human protagonists, all while using science fiction concepts to showcase the depravity of mankind. Body horror is also quite present in these works, proving that losing autonomy is the darkest idea of all.
Planetes Is Dark In Its Mundane Nature Created by: Makoto Yukimura
The space-based series Planetes takes place in a future where satellites and debris are a constant threat to planet Earth, requiring different means of disposal.

While the isekai genre can sometimes be fairly lighthearted, that's not always the case. In some anime, reincarnations lead to new lives that are just as bad, if not worse, than those experienced by the protagonist beforehand. The result is usually a dark series that completely goes against expectations.
The darkest isekai anime and manga change the game for the genre, going against the power fantasy grain for stories that are much bleaker. Some of this involves the harsh reality of the genre, with different elements played straight compared to most isekai. On the other hand, some of these works are simply as tragic as can be, throwing their heroes into increasingly horrible situations that make them wish they were reincarnated as just about anything else.
