    Composer of the slow, familiar western melody "The Long Trail," which was used as the theme song for the CBS radio show "Gunsmoke", which became a half-hour television show on CBS in 1955. A faster-paced version of the melody was introduced in season 10 and used until the series ended its run in 1975.
