The Tony-nominated actor celebrated the show’s opening night last week at Lincoln Center Theater in New York City.

Jeremy Jordan is returning to Broadway this spring in the beloved musical Floyd Collins, which will be staged on Broadway for the first time ever.

The Tony-nominated actor joined co-stars Jason Gotay and Lizzy McAlpine at a press day for the musical on Tuesday (March 18) in the rehearsal room at Lincoln Center Theater in New York City.

Floyd Collins is a musical based on the true story of a cave explorer in Kentucky, 1925. While chasing a dream of fame and fortune by turning Sand Cave into a tourist attraction, Floyd Collins (Jordan) himself becomes the attraction when he gets trapped 200 feet underground.

Also appearing at the press day were co-stars Marc Kudisch, Taylor Trensch, Sean Allan Krill, Jessica Molaskey, and more, as well as director Tina Landau and composer Adam Guettel.

Lincoln Center Theater’s upcoming Broadway production of Adam Guettel beloved cult musical Floyd Collins will star Jeremy Jordan in the title role, producers announced today, confirming a rumor that’s been buzzing through New York’s theater community for weeks.

Talk of Jordan’s involvement spiked Tuesday when producers of Broadway’s The Great Gatsby announced that actor Ryan McCartan would soon be taking over the lead role of that musical from the exiting Jordan.

The Lct production, which begins previews at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Thursday, March 27, 2025, and opens on Monday, April 21, will also feature Jason Gotay as Homer Collins, Sean Allan Krill as H.T. Jerome Coopersmith, who wrote more than 30 installments of the classic 1960s-70s police drama Hawaii Five-o and received a Tony Award nomination for his book for the 1965 Harold Prince-directed Sherlock Holmes musical Baker Street, died Friday in Rochester, NY. He was 97.

After earning a Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge in 1945, Coopersmith also wrote, among other stage works, the first act of the 1966 three-part Mike Nichols-directed musical The Apple Tree, starring Barbara Harris and Alan Alda. The musical was revived for Broadway in 2006 by the Roundabout Theatre Company in a production that starred Kristin Chenoweth, Brian D’Arcy James and Marc Kudisch.

The late Bob Saget is remembered more for his television roles and stand-up comedy career than his two appearances on the Broadway stage, but friend and Full House co-star John Stamos thinks that’s no excuse for leaving the beloved comedian out of the Tony Awards In Memoriam segment Sunday.

“Disappointed to hear that @bobsaget will be Left Out of the In Memoriam segment tonight @TheTonyawards,” Stamos tweeted before the CBS broadcast of the ceremony. “Bob was brilliant in ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ & ‘Hand to God. Come on @BroadwayLeague and @TheWing! Do the right thing! Bob loved Broadway and I know the community loved him.”

Saget did indeed appear on Broadway twice, both times as part of the replacement casts in two hit comedies. In 2007, Saget took over the Drowsy Chaperone role of Man In Chair from Bob Martin, and in 2015 he replaced Marc Kudisch as Pastor Greg in Hand to God.

With 34 productions eligible for this year’s Tony Awards, there were plenty of names missing when nominations were announced on Monday morning. Among the most surprising 2022 Tony Awards nominations snubs was Katrina Lenk, who plays Bobbie in Marianne Elliott’s reimagining of the late Stephen Sondheim’s “Company.” The production merited nine nominations, including Best Musical Revival, Best Director, Best Featured Actor (Matt Doyle), and Best Featured Actress. Lenk previously won a Tony Award for her performance in Best Musical-winner “The Band’s Visit.”

The acclaimed Bob Dylan musical Girl From The North Country will play its final Broadway performance at The Belasco Theatre on Jan. 23, with producers saying they’re in advanced conversations with the Shubert Organization to re-open in the spring after the Omicron surge subsides.

The unusual announcement follows a similar plan confirmed by producers of Mrs. Doubtfire, which closed on Jan. 10 with the intention of returning to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 14.

Hadestown and Girl From The North Country announced their Broadway returns today, with the Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown set to become the first production to resume performances on Broadway when its curtain rises on Thursday, Sept. 2.

Girl From The North Country, the musical that features songs from Bob Dylan’s catalogue, will resume performances on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

The Hadestown re-launch will mark the first Broadway production to begin performances since the March 12, 2020, pandemic shutdown. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had previously said that Broadway would be permitted to open at full capacity on Sept. 14, but Hadestown producers said today that the early opening was worked out in coordination with the Jujamcyn Theaters, owner of the Hadestown’s Walter Kerr Theatre, the Governor’s office and in cooperation with The Broadway League.

Sure, it was fun to see Dr. Gus (Marc Kudisch), the embodiment of toxic machismo from Billions season 2, return for an episode in last week's “American Champion,” but he was largely a distraction. That’s not to say that fans of the show won’t be getting any more Gus as season four winds down to a close, because he’s back again for this weekend’s episode “New Year’s Day,” which hilariously falls on Memorial Day Weekend. For as the U2 song of the same name, which opens the episode, sings in its second verse, we’re all “under a blood red sky.”

In other words, things aren’t going so well for the show’s main players...

Billions Season 4 Episode 9

Just because last week’s episode of Billions was titled “Fight Night” doesn’t mean that the penultimate episode of season four, “American Champion,” is without any fighting. On the contrary, the latest entry in Andrew Ross Sorkin, Brian Koppelman, and David Levien’s recently renewed Showtime series is chock-full of instigations, threats and outright villainy. This is what Billions fans have come to expect after nearly four full seasons of scenery-chewing drama, and “American Champion” doesn’t disappoint.

This is due to many things. Wendy (Maggie Siff) and Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) are still struggling to cope with there irrevocably damaged marriage. The Tick Season 2 tells another satisfying comic book story and finds a way to stick out in a crowded superhero landscape.

When The Tick first debuted on Amazon Prime two and a half years ago, it could reasonably lay claim to being the strangest superhero show on television….even if it wasn’t that weird.

Based on the comic book character by Ben Edlund (who also created and produces the show), The Tick Season 1 starred the invulnerable amnesiac super as he made grand speeches about destiny while wearing his trademark goofy blue costume. The show followed The Tick, Arthur, and a colorful array of superheroes in an equally colorful world accustomed to dealing with superheroes. Alan Tudyk even voiced a talking boat who was seemingly in love with one of the central characters. The Tick was Watchmen with a (non blood stained) smile.

A remarkable piece of theater that made its London premiere last year, Girl opens tonight at the Public Theater with an impeccable cast including Mare Winningham and Stephen Bogardus. At times so lovely – as when a pair of young, broken-up lovers duet on a newly mournful version of the once sprightly I Want You – Girl might have you wishing for some sort of theatrical replay mechanism.

The American cast of the London hit musical Girl From The North Country was announced by Off Broadway’s Public Theater today, with Mare Winningham (The Affair) taking the role that won Scottish actress Shirley Henderson a 2018 Olivier Award.

Broadway veteran Stephen Bogardus will take the lead actor role of Nick Laine, which earned an Olivier nomination for Ciaran Hinds, and Glee‘s Samantha Marie Ware has been cast in the supporting role of Marianne Laine, which won Sheila Atim an Olivier.

Written and directed by Conor McPherson, Girl From the North Country, which includes such classic Dylan songs as “Like a Rolling Stone,” “I Want You,” “Slow Train,” “Forever Young,” “Idiot Wind” and the title number, begins previews at The Public’s Newman Theater on Tuesday, September 11, with an official opening on Monday, October 1 and runs through Sunday, November 4.

20th Century Fox is looking to capitalize on the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements by bringing a new modern version of the 1980 comedy classic 9 to 5 Reboot to the big screen. While no deals seem to be in place yet, the studio wants to pair original 9 to 5 writer Pat Resnick with a young writer, with the studio eyeing actress/writer Rashida Jones to co-write the script. There is no word yet on whether Rashida Jones will also star in the film, but original 9 to 5 stars Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda are all slated to reprise their roles.

On Netflix’s 1970s-era “Mindhunter,” Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) takes what he’s learned from serial killers and applies it to a man who had not yet committed a crime. Principal Wade (Marc Kudisch) may have turned the Shady Lane Elementary’s testing scores around, but a disturbing pattern has arisen in which he offers to tickle the students’ feet “as punishment” and then gives them some change afterwards. Or, as Debbie (Hannah Gross) puts it, “tickles for nickels.”

Although certain teachers and parents complain, nothing is done. A concerned teacher has Holden look into the situation, and when a disturbed Holden insists Wade stop the practice, the principal flat-out refuses. When the school board calls Holden though to get his assessment of the principal, he passive aggressively says, “I’m not not saying your principal will become a sexual deviant,” which clearly means he thinks he will be. Wade loses his job.

Sometimes when you attend a play you feel so immersed in the story it's as if the stage shares the same reality as its audience's.  Apparently, one theatergoer's disbelief was suspended so much during Broadway's Hand to God last week, that when his phone got low on battery he decided to waltz up to the stage and plug it into the prop socket!
