- (2014) memoir: "Dilip Kumar: The Substance and the Shadow"
- (1987) Rajendra Kumar signed Dilip Kumar to act with Kumar Gaurav in home production "Maidaan". It was to be directed by Mukul S. Anand. It was later shelved to start Jurrat with David Dhawan.
- (1975) Discovery of India: During the emergency days (1975-1977), producer G.P. Sippy launched an ambitious project titled 'Discovery of India', based on Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru's famous book by the same title, with Dilip Kumar playing the main protagonist. It was to be directed by Ramesh Sippy (of Sholay fame) and written by writer duo Salim (Khan)-Javed (Akhtar). A grand mahurat was held in New Delhi which was attended by the then Information and Broadcasting Minister Vidya Charan Shukla. The film, however, did not proceed beyond the mahurat.
- (1963) Producer-director Manmohan Desai had planned a film titled 'Hazaar Laakh Crore' starring Dilip Kumar, but the project never took off.
- (1976 - 1982) Dilip Kumar had another dream project titled 'O Baba Jaan' (Baba Jaani) for which he had crafted nine different versions of a script on schizophrenia and wanted the film to be directed by the well-known Marathi director Jabbar Patel. When the film was announced in 1976. it was to be made under Dilip's banner Citizen Films Internationals. Starring Dilip Kumar,Rakhee Gulzar, Dr.Shreeram Lagoo, Utpal Dutt, Cinematography by Kamal Bose, Art by Sudhendu Roy, Music by Salil Chowdhary, Produced by Dilip Kumar, Directed by Jabbar Patel. Baba Jaan was probably the name of a horse which the protagonist with split personality rides in the nights. When Dilip became too old for the role,he spoke to Amitabh Bachchan and Amitabh agreed to work in the film. The story had a riveting, suspense plot about a schizophrenic banker's diabolic bid to rob a bank. Dilip Kumar had several meetings with Jabbar Pater, but somehow the film did not get off ground. The dream project sadly dropped.
- (1985) Starred in Cinema International's "untitled film". Starring Dilip Kumar, Sanjay Dutt,Mazhar Khan, Amjad Khan, Music by Rahul Dev Burman, Produced and Directed by Amjad Khan.
- (1986) Producer,Director Vijay Anand wanted Vinod Khanna to return to the film industry with the film "Krishna Arjun. The film would star Dilip Kumar and Vinod Khanna. The film was called off when Dilip Kumar was showing very little interest in starting the film.
- (1976) Starred in the shelved movie Citizen Films International's "Kali Sarson". Starring Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Produced by Dilip Kumar, Directed by Pravin Joshi.
- (1986/1987). Dilip Kumar was to star in Mushir Riaz production, written by Salim Khan and directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The film was not made due to Dilip not getting his market price.
- (1983) Starred in K. Vishwanath's shelved untitled movie. Starring Dilip Kumar, Shabana Azmi, Directed by K.Vishwanath. The film based on a conflict between a father in law and daughter in law.
- (1953) Starred in Sterling Investment Corporation's "Janwaar". Starring Dilip Kumar, Suraiya, Produced and Directed by K.Asif.
- (1998) Anil Sharma wanted to make a film based in Kashmir. Anil narrated the film to Dilip Kumar who loved the script and agreed. Next Dharmendra heard the film and agreed to do the film. For the young lead Anil Sharma wanted Aamir Khan. Anil Sharma asked his writer Shaktiman to work on the love story in the film. It was to be based on a Kashmiri boy and Pakistani girl. Anil Sharma heard the love story written and thought it was mind blowing. He felt the love story was interesting enough to be made into a separate film. Anil decided to drop the film that he was making with Dilip Kumar and Dharmendra. He then concentrated on the love story that turned into Gadar Ek Prem Katha.
- (1975) Chetan Anand had signed Raaj Kumar, Aamir Khan,Madhuri Dixit, Ved Thappar for the film Takht O Taj in 1991.Chetan first wanted to make the film as Salim Aur Anarkali with Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini (Replaced Priya Rajvansh) in 1975. He had also recorded the songs with Madan Mohan. But he shelved the film when he realized the budget would be too much. He later tried to revive the film as "Jalal e Akbari" with Raaj Kumar, Deepak Parashar and Hema Malini. Now the film was to be from the point of view of Akbar.This was in 1979. Again the film got shelved. The lead actors also left the film. In 1982, Chetan Anand signed Dilip Kumar,Rishi Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure. Again the film could not see light of day. In 1990, Chetan Anand spoke to Raaj Kumar about the film and asked him if his son Puru Rajkumar was interested in doing the film and playing the role of Salim. Raaj Kumar stated that Puru was not ready to be an actor. Chetan finally revived the film as "Takht O Taj" in 1991. Ved Thappar was originally going to play Raaj Kumar's son due to his resemblance to the actor. But due to commercial reasons, Aamir Khan was signed for the role and Thappar was signed for the role of Durjan Singh, originally played by Ajit in Mughal E Azam. The film was later titled Mallika-e-Hind . The film was eventually shelved due to Chetan's bad health. There were stories going around in 1993 that Chetan wanted to make the film with Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri. But the plans never materialized.
