Dragon Ball’s Official Voice of Goku Reveals Secret Behind Kamehameha
Image
Masako Nozawa, the official Japanese voice actor of Goku, is staying true to her vow of voicing the Dragon Ball character until she's in her late 180s. The iconic voice actor stunned audiences at a recent theatrical showing of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero with her powerful vocal performance of Goku’s signature attack, the Kamehameha Wave, in person.

According to Japan Anime News, Marunouchi Toei, the last movie theater directly operated by Toei and Japan’s final roadside-style cinema, is set to shut down in late July after 65 years, due to the building's redevelopment. To honor the theater's legacy, over 100 classic films will be screened from May 9, 2025, to July 27, 2025. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the 21st animated movie in the Dragon Ball franchise, will air from July 18-24, during the 11th week of screenings. Nozawa, who attended an early re-screening of the Super Hero movie on July 9 at the legendary Toei theater,...

10 Best Fantasy Movies Without Any Sequels
Image
While everyone loves a good fantasy film series or franchise, there's no question that Hollywood movies have become more and more reliant on the idea of sequels in recent years. Massive franchises like Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean dominate box offices to the point that out of the 10 highest-grossing fantasy films of all time, every single one is either part of a film series or a remake of an older movie.

That isn't to say that sequels are bad, but there is a certain power to a movie that doesn't need a sequel. Fantasy films that stand alone and tell complete stories can be far more satisfying to watch than ones that are clearly putting far more energy into establishing franchise potential than into crafting a compelling narrative. And, of course, there are fads like Disney's avalanche of 90s direct-to-video sequels, with their shoestring budgets and disappointingly outsourced animation.

The 10 Best Anime Vehicles Ever, Ranked
Image
From the briny waters within One Piece to the vast reaches of space from Cowboy Bebop, the wide world of anime offers plenty of lands, societies and cultures, yet transportation remains a crucial need for many. The lush worldbuilding in many anime titles often require creative solutions when it comes to vehicles, with many anime series forced to think outside the box when it comes to transportation.

The relative mundanity of answering the question of travel presents a unique opportunity for anime series to flex their worldbuilding muscles in answering that need, with some proving more ingenious than others. From All Might’s Hercules vehicle in My Hero Academia to Goku’s Flying Nimbus in Dragon Ball, these vehicles stand apart in terms of creativity and utility, remaining iconic to this very day.

Image
When it comes to the anime medium, no genre is more popular than shonen. Initially targeted toward the male teenage demographic, shonen anime has become an international phenomenon that now appears on millions of TV screens around the world, due in large part to its ability to consistently spawn hit series like Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Demon Slayer.

Although there is plenty of variety in the shonen genre, one thing that is part of almost every single major shonen franchise is high-stakes action, and as a result, the medium's most popular characters often undergo substantial power-ups. These power-ups have spawned some of the most iconic moments, scenes and narrative developments in anime history, cementing their status as one of the most important tropes in shonen media.

10 Anime Couples Like Yakuza Fiancs Yoshino and Kirishima
Image
Yakuza Fianc is the romance anime of the season, and it presents quite the questionable (yet addicting to watch) duo. Yoshino Somei and Kirishima Miyama are the grandchildren of two very high-ranking members of the Yakuza who've become engaged. Yoshino is a tough girl who stands her ground and possesses a head of beautiful red hair, and Kirishima is a masochistic young man with numerous red flags to match.

In spite of Kirishimas more concerning qualities, many fans have grown to love their uniquely compelling dynamic, as Kirishima's devotion to Yoshino is nothing short of endearing. And though their incredibly interesting and mildly problematic relationship is one that is hard to replicate, there are a great many anime couples with similar enemies to lovers dynamics.

Red Riding Hood

The Stars: Amanda Seyfried, Lukas Haas, Gary Oldman

The Plot: Set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl (Seyfried) falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family’s displeasure.

The Buzz: Amanda Seyfried has grown on me, more and more as she’s aged. I loved her in Chloe. She’s stunning in Red Riding Hood‘s trailer, heck, everything looks fantastic here. From what I’ve seen so far, I’m entirely sold on the art direction, the cinematography, the high saturation color-push, the entire visual approach. When I first heard this...
