Alan Tudyk wasn’t just behind the metallic face of Sonny in I, Robot; he was the heart, voice, and body of the character that nearly outshone Will Smith. And for that exact reason, according to Tudyk, he was erased from the film’s publicity like he never existed. In a recent candid appearance on the Toon’d In with Jim Cummings podcast, the Resident Alien star revealed that he was unceremoniously dropped from all marketing efforts after test audiences shockingly rated his performance higher than Smith’s.
A lot of people did not know I did Sonny the Robot in ‘I, Robot,’ and there is a reason. They were doing test audiences for the movie, and they score the characters in this kind of test screening. I got word back: ‘Alan, you are testing higher than Will Smith.’ And then I was gone. I was done. There was no publicity,...

Alan Tudyk reflected on his career and revealed that there’s a reason why not many people know he played Sonny in the 2004 sci-fi action film I, Robot.
During an appearance on Toon’d In with Jim Cummings, Tudyk said that with test screening audiences, he tested higher than the film’s star Will Smith.
“They were doing test audiences with the movie and they score the characters and I got word back, ‘Alan, you’re testing higher than Will Smith,'” Tudyk recalled on the podcast from June 15. “And then I was gone. I was gone. There was no publicity and my name was not mentioned.”
He continued, “I was so shocked, I was like, ‘But wait, nobody’s going to know that I [play the robot].'”
Tudyk voiced Sonny the robot and was motion-captured for the CGI character, saying that he “put a lot into” his performance, adding, “At the time,...

Margaret Qualley and Shia Labeouf‘s brief and controversial relationship ended almost as quickly as it began. The pair were first linked in December 2020 after co-starring, naked, in the Nsfw music video for “Love Me Like You Hate Me,” a project created by Qualley’s sister, Rainey. Their onscreen chemistry quickly turned into real-life Pda, as the two were spotted kissing at Lax and spending time together around Los Angeles (via The Daily Mail).
But the whirlwind romance collided with a big scandal just weeks later. In the same month their relationship became public, Labeouf’s ex-girlfriend, musician FKA Twigs, as reported by The New York Times, filed a lawsuit accusing him of “relentless abuse.” The allegations included emotional manipulation, physical assault, and knowingly transmitting an Std.
As the legal drama unfolded, insiders reported that Qualley’s close family, particularly her mother, actress Andie MacDowell, was concerned about the relationship from the start.

Three years after "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" was released in theaters, franchise co-creator George Lucas developed the ABC TV series, "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles." The '92 series went on for two seasons and four TV movies; it was considered a success and is still generally well-regarded by the hardcore "Indiana Jones" fans. The episodic format allowed young Indy to go through dozens of smaller adventures, constantly interacting with historical figures like Leo Tolstoy and John Ford.
One episode idea Lucas had for the show will sound familiar to modern fans: "One of the scripts we were working on was about a crystal skull. I became fascinated with it there," Lucas said in a 2007 interview. Although he was captivated by an Indiana Jones story where Jones looks for a crystal skull, the concept ultimately never made it into the series. On the bright side for Lucas, he was...

The first Transformersmovie is making a surprise comeback on streaming. Josh Duhamel and Shia Labeouf’s 2007 action-packed blockbuster has climbed back into the Top 10 charts on Disney+ and Paramount+ in several countries, per FlixPatrol. This was the film that kicked off Michael Bay’s wild, explosion-filled franchise and introduced a whole new generation to Autobots and Decepticons.
Critics were lukewarm towards the film upon its release, reflected in its 57% score on Rotten Tomatoes. But audiences have always embraced the Transformers films, and this one holds a strong 85% audience score. Last week, Bay’s Transformers movies landed on Disney+ in select regions, and it looks like nostalgia is bringing them back into the spotlight. Streaming is full of big action franchises, but not many bring the kind of chaos and fun that Transformers does. The Disney+ lineup mostly sticks to Marvel and Star Wars, and those are great, but they come with homework.

The new trailer for a raw documentary about Francis Ford Coppola's self-financed passion project, Megalopolis, reveals the epic production behind the 2024 flop. The five-time Oscar winner spent $120 million to fund the movie that took him over 40 years to make. With an idea first conceived in 1977, the Godfather filmmaker began writing the script in 1983, but it wasn't until last year that the movie finally made it into the theaters.
Megalopolis' star-studded cast features Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Giancarlo Esposito, Laurence Fishburne, and many others. However, despite the star power and Coppola's reputation, the movie faced a series of challenges in marketing and only grossed around $14 million against a massive budget.
Now, Utopia has released a new trailer for Mike Figgis' documentary, titled Megadoc, teasing a never-before-seen look at Coppola's journey in shaping the world of Megalopolis. From unfiltered interviews to a close-up view of Coppola's process, the documentary...

"The magic and making of Francis Ford Coppola's epic Megalopolis." Utopia has revealed the first look teaser trailer for a new making of documentary film titled Megadoc, from director Mike Figgis. This mega documentary is trying to be the Hearts of Darkness (which was a look at Coppola's troubled Apocalypse Now set) for Megalopolis, which opened in theaters last year. The only problem is that Megalopolis not only flopped big time, but it's just not a good movie by any measure, and Coppola needs to accept this. I get that he spent tons of money on it, and he's trying to be bold and provocative again, but it's a complete mess and most people don't care about it (unlike with Apocalypse Now). This Megadoc features appearances by Francis Ford Coppola (but of course!), Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Nathalie Emmanuel, Dustin Hoffman, Giancarlo Esposito, Chloe Fineman, Shia Labeouf, Laurence Fishburne,...

After receiving Academy Awards and becoming an icon of Hollywood, Francis Ford Coppola just wants to have “fun.” The auteur’s version of playing around? Directing a self-funded $120 million epic.
The making of Coppola’s controversial “Megalopolis” is captured in documentary “Megadoc” by filmmaker Mike Figgis (Figgis previously helmed the Oscar-nominated “Leaving Las Vegas” and is known for directing episodes of “The Sopranos” and “The Affair.”) “Megadoc” is billed as an “unfiltered” look into Coppola’s “Megalopolis” and his creative process as a whole. Legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola explains exactly what he wants to accomplish with his Megalopolistour.
Speaking to Deadline, Coppola opened up about his decision to take Megalopolis on the road rather than make it available on DVD or any other form of home media. "I didn’t make the movie available anywhere where people can own it or have a DVD or all that because I wanted to keep the hope of a theater experience going," Coppola said. "So because of that, there are a lot of people who said to me, well, 'How come you can’t get it on all the normal ways?"
"I said, well, because I'm going to go and bring it in a public way at first to prime the pump," Coppola continued. "Where I'll talk about the movie at the end, or rather illustrate some of where the movie could take you if you...

The below contains spoilers for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” now in theaters, and the 2020 film “Pieces of a Woman.”
Vanessa Kirby brought a piece of her former film experience to “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” The actress tapped into her past Oscar-nominated turn in 2020 Netflix drama “Pieces of a Woman” for a certain sequence in the latest MCU installment. Kirby’s respective characters give birth in both features; Kirby, who is currently pregnant in real life, told Variety while promoting “First Steps” that she was “so excited” to be giving birth again onscreen.
“I also did a birth in this this little movie called ‘Pieces of a Woman.’ I was so excited to be asked to do it again, and I also wanted to make it different. And then, of course, we were doing it in zero gravity, so that’s its own challenge,” she said.

Francis Ford Coppola’s controversial “Megalopolis” production is now being given the documentary treatment. Mike Figgis directs “Megadoc” about the making of Coppola’s self-funded $120 million epic. While the buzzy cast included a slew of “canceled” actors as well as beloved stars, the feature was plagued with allegations of wild on-set antics and unwanted advances against extras (Coppola has denied the claims.) A year ago, Francis Ford Coppola, the legendary director behind classics like “The Godfather” and “Apocalypse Now,” released his sci-fi epic “Megalopolis.”
The film, which tells the story of a visionary architect fighting a corrupt politician to rebuild a city after a disaster, didn’t get the warm welcome Coppola hoped for. Despite spending $120 million of his own money, the movie struggled to find an audience.
Coppola premiered “Megalopolis” at Cannes, hoping for a big success, but the reaction was mostly confusion. Lionsgate later picked up the film and released it in theaters in May 2025, where it ran for 138 minutes.
Unfortunately, it only made about $7 million. After that, Lionsgate pulled the film from theaters, gave the rights back to Coppola, and no streaming or Blu-ray releases followed. The movie can’t even be rented on Amazon anymore, with the listing showing “rights expired.”
But Coppola isn’t giving up. At 85 years old,...

In 2020, FKA twigs sued Labeouf for sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress. On Monday, the musician asked Los Angeles Superior Court to dismiss the case against Labeouf with prejudice, meaning she can’t refile any further claims.

Shia Labeouf and FKA Twigs are no longer in a legal battle after five years. Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, filed a lawsuit against her “Honey Boy” co-star Labeouf in December 2020, alleging the “Disturbia” actor inflicted emotional distress and assaulted her. Twigs also accused Labeouf of sexual battery. The trial was set for 2023.
Now, representatives for Twigs have filed to end the lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend; the claims will be dismissed with prejudice, which means that Twigs cannot refile the claims in the future. “Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court,” Twigs’s lawyer Bryan Freedman and Labeouf’s lawyer Shawn Holley said in a joint statement. “While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future.”

Shia Labeouf has settled a lawsuit from FKA twigs, who accused him of “relentless abuse” and knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease.
A lawyer for FKA twigs, born Tahliah Debrett Barnett, on Monday notified the court of a deal. Terms of the settlement weren’t disclosed. A trial was scheduled to start in September.
The singer-songwriter filed a lawsuit in 2020 bringing claims of sexual battery, assault, emotional distress and negligence. She alleged that the actor has a long history of abusing women.
According to the complaint, the pair met in 2018, around the time Labeouf finished filming Honey Boy, with Barnett moving in with him shortly after. Labeouf then engaged in a “continuous stream of verbal and mental abuse” before escalating to physical violence. In one incident, Labeouf slammed Barnett against his car and strangled her, said the lawsuit, which noted that he kept a loaded rifle by their bedside.

Harry Styles made an appearance during the mid-credits scene of Marvel’s $402.1 million-grossing film Eternals as the character Eternal Eros, aka Starfox. Since the film didn’t make a big impact, much of its high-profile cast haven’t made any further appearances in the franchise, including Styles. Kevin Feige has finally addressed these cameos that went nowhere.
Feige met a small group of journalists on Friday ahead of the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and discussed in detail the future of the MCU (via Variety). One of the questions that popped up during the interview was the long list of A-list MCU cameos after Phase 3.
It wasn’t just Styles’ Starfox who went unaddressed in the MCU. Earlier, Charlize Theron played the character Clea in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Brett Goldstein played Hercules in Thor: Love and Thunder. More recently, we saw Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto,...

Having played in theaters for nearly two full months, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning could possibly fall short of the $200 million milestone domestically. This would be a big blow for the movie, which was touted as the final installment of the long-running action franchise. Even Captain America: Brave New World managed to hit the $200 million mark at the domestic box office in its otherwise disappointing run, and it cost a fraction. The Final Reckoning, however, has performed better overseas. The film's international total is set to hit the $400 million milestone, having already overtaken one of the most iconic blockbusters of the last two decades.
In its eighth weekend of release, The Final Reckoning hit the $390 million mark in international revenue, and, in doing so, managed to pass the overseas total of Michael Bay's first Transformers movie. Released in 2007, Transformers grossed over $700 million at the worldwide box office, against...

Daniel Radcliffe's most defining role so far has been the titular part in the Harry Potter film series. However, after the series ended in 2011, he ventured into different genres, including horror. In 2013, he starred in the adaptation of Stephen King's son Joe Hill's 2010 novel Horns.
The comedy-fantasy-horror was not a success in theaters, debuting with mixed reviews. Now, fans have a new chance to discover the fantasy horror, as Horns is officially heading to streaming for free on Pluto TV starting July 21, per theManchester Evening News.
Horns will be available to stream for free and get a chance to find a new life after its disappointing run. Toby Kebbell is excellent as an ageing fighter (and care-home worker) getting sucked into crime, with a vivid Labeouf as his childhood friend
Blue-collar chancer gets drawn into criminal underworld; it must be one of the most well-worn plots in cinema, and if debut directors Bjorn Franklin and Johnny Marchetta don’t exactly make it fresh in this character study, then they undeniably lend it a heartfelt vividness. That’s thanks in no small part to lead actor Toby Kebbell, who as ageing boxer and care-home worker Sal holds our attention with a loquacious naivety, despite having been around the block many times. Yakking his way in and out of various marital, family and felonious situations, Sal is a man fundamentally in negotiation with himself.

Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch remake, in light of the announcement of a sequel getting the green light, continues to celebrate its enormous success by taking down yet another big-name rival at the box office. Following a sixth Monday in theaters, in which the film made $1.1 million from 2,900 total venues nationwide, Lilo & Stitch has moved up to #52 in the all-time domestic box office rankings, overtaking another Disney favorite on its way.
Officially, Lilo & Stitch has now earned just $200,000 more than the 2013 megahit, Frozen, which finished its domestic run on $400.9 million. Lilo & Stitch now boasts a domestic total of $401.1 million, although it can only top Frozen in the US alone, falling far short of the Idina Menzel-led family favorite when adding international figures. Steven Spielberg's filmography as a director is long, but his resume as a producer is gargantuan (and definitely not as quality-consistent as his directing career). Case in point: He has executive produced all of the modern "Transformers" films, and recruited Michael Bay to direct the first one. Those movies are definitely more Bay, less 'Berg, but flashes of Spielberg's influence do show up.
The first "Transformers" film, especially, structures itself like "Jaws" and "Jurassic Park" (i.e. holding off on the spectacle in the first half). The heart of that film pulls from Spielberg's playbook as well, depicting an "E.T."-like friendship between Sam Witwicky (Shia Labeouf) and the Autobot Bumblebee.

Harrison Ford isn’t going to play Indiana Jones again – but Disney likes the idea of a new reboot, it seems.
Although Harrison Ford might well be done with playing Indiana Jones, that doesn’t mean that we’ve seen the last of the fedora-donning adventurer. According to a new report at DisInsider, Disney is ‘quietly’ developing a reboot of the character which could be announced as early as next year.
Shia Labeouf’s agent must be reading all of this with interest.
Harrison Ford made what he has claimed would be his last appearance as Jones in 2023’s Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, the fifth film in the series and the first not to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Instead, James Mangold took the reins but couldn’t steer the project towards the kind of box office success that the previous films enjoyed.

Unpacking ‘Henry Johnson’: Mamet Returns With a high-profile Broadway revival of Glengarry Glen Ross currently underway, we’re once again reminded of David Mamet’s singular ear for dialogue- the same talent that earned him a Pulitzer Prize for this very play. As the old T-shirt gag goes, “But what I really want to do is direct.” Mamet’s career has followed that familiar arc: from acclaimed playwright to Hollywood screenwriter- penning Oscar-recognized scripts like 'The Verdict'- to director,...

Holes, based on the book by Louis Sachar, is one of the most beloved children's movies of all time. It's such a popular title that it's getting a gender-flipped reboot as a TV series... but the remake is going to have to work hard to overcome comparisons with the original.
Now, ahead of the reboot, Holes star Khleo Thomas has chatted with People about what it was like to be a child star on the set of the 2003 movie. It wasn't an easy film to make, but Thomas -- who played fan-favorite character Zero -- looks back on it with great fondness despite the difficulty.
"My least favorite scene was when I had to jump on the back of Zig-Zag [played by Max Kasch] and choke him out," Thomas remembered. "I had heat rash that day, so my legs were on fire and man, was that uncomfortable. It was already hot. It's already dusty,...

With its future on streaming and physical media still uncertain (and probably dire), there might be only one way to see Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis: on the big screen. And while the original theatrical run has come, gone and practically imploded in between, the director is taking the show on the road.
Officially titled “An Evening with Francis Ford Coppola and Megalopolis”, the event will not only feature the film but also a post-screening Q&a with the director himself under the theme of “Bow to Change Our Future.” As for locations, the six-city tour will kick off in Red Bank, New Jersey before heading off to Port Chester, New York, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, and San Francisco.
As per Coppola in a statement, “This is the way Megalopolis was meant to be seen, in a large venue, with a crowd and followed by intense interactive discussions about the future.

Francis Ford Coppola’s epic Megalopolis will be touring six cities this summer accompanied by the five-time Oscar winning filmmaker who’ll be holding a discussion titled “How to Change Our Future.”
“This is the way Megalopolis was meant to be seen, in a large venue, with a crowd and followed by intense interactive discussions about the future,” shared Coppola. The event is billed as a “special tour which offers fans a rare opportunity to experience the film — not currently available on any streaming platform— exactly as Coppola intended.”
The Live Nation event kicks off July 20 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, NJ. Other tour dates are listed below.
Megalopolis was a huge passion project of Coppola’s. He self-financed the Roman epic fable for $120 million. The pic, set in an imagined modern America, where the city of New Rome must change, sees conflict between...

While his sharp, staccato writing has long been celebrated on stage and screen, Mamet’s work behind the camera has drawn more divided opinions. His latest film, 'Henry Johnson', is an intimate ensemble piece starring Shia Labeouf, Evan Jonigkeit, Chris Bauer, and Dominic Hoffman. After premiering at the Aero Theatre in Los Angeles last May, the film is now available to rent through its official website. As the old T-shirt gag goes, “But what I really want to do is direct.” Mamet’s career has followed that familiar arc: from acclaimed playwright to Hollywood screenwriter- penning Oscar-recognized scripts like 'The Verdict'- to director,...
