A new episode of the Awfully Good Horror Movies video series has just been released, and since this is the week of Halloween, we decided to take a look back at one of the least popular entries in the Halloween franchise, 2002’s Halloween: Resurrection (watch it Here), a movie that took the mostly-clean slate it was handed by the previous film, Halloween H20 (which disregarded the events of all but the first two Halloween movies), fumbled it, and let it shatter on the ground. A new episode of the Real Slashers video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at a movie that gave us two iconic slashers for the price of one: the 2003 monster mash Freddy vs. Jason (watch it Here)! Somehow it’s been over twenty years since that long-awaited match-up reached theatres screens, and you can hear all about what happened when Freddy Krueger crossed paths with Jason Voorhees in the video embedded above.

I was somewhat of a late bloomer when it came to my exposure to horror. I lacked the cool older relative or friend that seems to serve as a customary gateway for many genre fans. ABC Family has picked up Samurai Girl, which the cable network plans to air as a "major programming event" consisting of three two-hour episodes.

Samurai, from ABC Studios, is set to start production in the spring in Vancouver and is slated to air over one weekend in August 2008; the strategy is similar to one the network previously took with Fallen.

Samurai, based on a series of popular young-adult novels, centers on a 19-year-old Japanese girl named Heaven (Jamie Chung) who discovers that the wealthy businessman who adopted her as an infant is really the head of the Yakuza (the Japanese mafia) and had her beloved brother brutally murdered. She breaks from her family and begins training to become a samurai, and with the help of a group of new American friends, sets out to take down her father's evil empire.

Samurai also stars Brendan Fehr, Saige Thompson, Kyle Labine, Anthony Brandon Wong, Steven Brand and Kenneth Choi.

Samurai was brought to ABC Family through Alloy Entertainment, the company behind the series of novels.
