A multi-talented writer/director, painter/sculptor, cameraman, animator, and musician.
"Once Upon a Time" (2017) was his directing debut in China, followed by "You Can, You Up" (2018). And, "Sonic Storm" (2019).
He won an Academy Award® (2005) for "Spider-Man 2", as well as a nomination for "Spider-Man" and two British Academy nominations.
Mr. LaMolinara bought his first film camera at the age of 8, and began his professional career in 1975 as a free lance lighting cameraman, working on documentaries (Ravi Shankar, Theodore Bundy, Angela Davis), commercials and independent films around the world.
In 1986 he joined Will Vinton Productions where he was animator/director for the California Dancing Raisins commercials. In addition, he served as animator/director on the Emmy Award winning TV special "Claymation Christmas Celebration", and Michael Jackson music video "Speed Demon".
In 1991, Mr. LaMolinara opened Clay Pigeon Studios in Montreal and Toronto. These five studios produced commercials and the half-hour TV special "Johann's Gift to Christmas."
Director on the CG feature "Final Fantasy" (1996) for Square USA. Mr. LaMolinara was also an animation director at VIFX (Twentieth Century Fox Digital Effects) where he worked on "Planet Ice", "Blade" and "T-Rex."
His animation experience includes "Toy Story" (1995), "Stuart Little" (1999, Academy Award® nominee, Best Visual Effects), "Hollow Man" (2000, Academy Award® nominee, Best Visual Effects), and the development of "Avatar".
He wrote and directed the award winning live-action short "Lonesome Matador" (2004).
2006 took him to Italy to write and direct the feature "Topino", and award winning music video"Alibi" for Mina.
His Novel, "Lo Chef, un storia di= carne e di= amore," was published in Italy in 2009.
In Sardegna 2017, he wrote and directed "Iskída".
He is now in development on "Come With Me", a drama set in Salento, Italy.
