“Deliver Me From Nowhere,” a biographical music drama starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, has been added to the New York Film Festival lineup.

Set as the Spotlight Gala selection, the movie will screen on Sept. 28 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. Springsteen will attend the premiere along with White’s co-stars Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young. “Deliver Me From Nowhere” will host its world premiere elsewhere at an earlier date.

Adapted from the biography by Warren Zanes, “Deliver Me From Nowhere” is set at an early ’80s crossroads in Springsteen’s career when he was rising to fame while crafting the personal acoustic songs for the 1982 album “Nebraska.” At the same time, he was recording the demos for “Born in the U.S.A.” — the hit that would catapult him to global stardom. Strong portrays Jon Landau, Springsteen’s manager and record producer, and Young plays the love interest of the Boss.

The Untold Tale of Kate Winslet and the Actor Who Could’ve Been Her ‘Jack’ in Titanic
Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, and Frances Fisher in Titanic (1997)
When you think of Titanic, it’s hard not to picture Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio as Rose and Jack, immortalized in pop culture history. But behind the scenes, the casting could have taken a very different turn. At one point, Kate Winslet nearly starred opposite Matthew McConaughey, whose magnetic Southern charm might have rewritten the history of cinema’s most beloved love story. Kate Winslet’s Chemistry Test: The Actor with the Southern Drawl

A post shared by Matthew McConaughey (@officiallymcconaughey)

Back in the casting days of James Cameron’s 1997 masterpiece, the search for the perfect Jack Dawson was intense. With Kate Winslet already cast as Rose, the director and producers invited several promising actors to read with her. One standout was Matthew McConaughey—a performer who’d already won hearts with his charisma and unmistakable presence. According to behind-the-scenes accounts, including the...

Matthew McConaughey Lost Titanic Role Due to Southern Drawl
Image
Matthew McConaughey once lost out on a career-defining role in James Cameron’s Titanic, and the reason why has now been revealed. 1997’s Titanic is still a masterpiece over 25 years later, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet playing two lovers of different social classes, Jack and Rose, as they are caught in the disaster of the ship’s maiden voyage.

Titanic became a cultural phenomenon, generating $2.264 billion at the worldwide box office and an impressive legacy for DiCaprio and Winslet. However, there were plenty of other actors who were considered for Titanic’s cast. Matthew McConaughey and other A-listers, like Paul Rudd, Ethan Hawke, and Christian Bale, were all rumored for the lead role, but ultimately lost out.

According to Puck, which provides an excerpt from Titanic producer Jon Landau’s memoir The Bigger Picture, Matthew McConaughey lost the lead role in Titanic because he didn’t want to drop his Southern drawl.

Matthew McConaughey ‘lost role of Jack Dawson in Titanic after refusing to take direction during his audition’
Matthew McConaughey is said to have lost the role of Jack Dawson in Titanic after refusing to take direction during his audition with director James Cameron. The 55-year-old actor, known for his Texan drawl and easy charm, auditioned opposite Kate Winslet during early casting sessions for the 1997 blockbuster, and the claim he botched his try-out for the hit movie comes from producer Jon Landau’s posthumous memoir, The Bigger Picture, which was excerpted in journalist Matthew Belloni’s newsletter What I’m Hearing.Jon is said to have written: “We brought (Matthew) in to do a scene with Kat“You want to check for chemistry, not just how people look on film but how they interact. Kate was taken with Matthew, his presence and charm. Matthew did the scene with the (Southern) drawl.”According to Jon, after Matthew’s initial reading, filmmaker James, now 70, asked him to perform the scene again without the Southern accent.

Why Matthew McConaughey lost out on starring in James Cameron’s Titanic
James Cameron
It’s hard to imagine James Cameron’s Titanic without the iconic pairing of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio as Rose and Jack, but in another world, the role of Jack could have been played by Matthew McConaughey.

In his upcoming memoir, The Bigger Picture, the late Jon Landau recalled McConaughey’s audition for the part of Jack. Although the actor was well-liked, with Winslet said to be “taken” with his “presence and charm,” he refused to drop his signature Texas drawl.

“We brought him in to do a scene with Kate [Winslet],” Landau wrote. “You want to check for chemistry — not just how people look on film, but how they interact. Matthew did the scene with the drawl. ‘That’s great,’ said Jim [Cameron]. ‘Now let’s try it a different way.’ Matthew said, ‘No. That was pretty good. Thanks.’ Let’s just say, that was it for McConaughey.“

Matthew McConaughey Lost Titanic’s Jack Role Over One Very Specific Refusal
Image
Did you know, James Cameron‘s 1997 blockbuster, Titanic, almost starred Matthew McConaughey, until he allegedly lost out on the role of Jack Dawson? Well, turns out, the Interstellar actor was replaced with Leonardo DiCaprio after he refused to drop his Southern accent.

According to a newly revealed excerpt from late producer Jon Landau’s upcoming memoir, McConaughey gave an incredible audition and even won over Kate Winslet with “his presence and charm”, who had already been cast as Rose (via People). But things didn’t go so smoothly with director James Cameron.

When Cameron asked Matthew McConaughey to “try it a different way”, without the accent, the actor reportedly declined, saying, “No. That was pretty good. Thanks.” And just like that, McConaughey came inches close to playing Jack in Titanic, until losing the billion-dollar role over his accent.

Everything We Know About Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere
Bruce Springsteen at an event for Golden Globe Awards (2009)
Legendary singer/songwriter Bruce Springsteen’s fifth studio album, a double album called The River, was his fastest-selling release yet when it reached stores in 1980, became an international hit, and was his first album to reach #1 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. So when his sixth album, Nebraska, came along in 1982, it was surprise that it was so pared down in comparison to its predecessor: Springsteen recorded the songs for Nebraska without the accompaniment of the E Street Band, sitting in the bedroom of his home with a four-track recorder, drawing inspiration from Gothic literature, American history, and Terrence Malick’s Badlands. He had intended to re-record the songs with the band, but he wasn’t satisfied with how they sounded when the band performed them, so he just sent his solo recordings out into the world. It was such an interesting decision, Warren Zanes was inspired to write...

'The Social Network Part II' Eyes a 'Succession' Star To Replace Jesse Eisenberg
Image
While Aaron Sorkin is returning to the world of Facebook for a sequel to The Social Network, the star of that acclaimed film will not be accompanying him. Succession's Jeremy Strong is circling the lead role of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, stepping in for Jesse Eisenberg. There is no indication whether Eisenberg turned the project down, or if the decision was made by the filmmakers.

Deadline reports that Strong is the top choice to play the Meta CEO, who has been embroiled in controversy over the actions of his flagship social media platform since before the first Social Network hit theaters in 2010. However, no formal offer has yet been made to Strong. The film, which is said to be more of a spiritual follow-up than a conventional sequel, is also said to be eyeing Anora's Mikey Madison and The Bear's Jeremy Allen White for unspecified roles in the film.

Avatar | James Cameron is planning an animated spin-off
Image
James Cameron is hoping to bring the world of the Na’vi alive in animated form with a movie or a TV show. More on his plans below.

James Cameron is still hard at work on this year’s Avatar: Fire And Ash, but he’s already thinking ahead. The director recently told Empire Magazine that on top of hoping to do two more films after Fire And Ash, he’d also like to give animation a go in telling the stories of Pandora.

And he’s already spoken to Disney about it.

“I said, ‘Look, I want to do an animated anthology series that’s essentially in the world, but stories that you wouldn’t have expected from that world’,” Cameron told the magazine. Cameron cited The Animatrix as a particularly fitting example of what he’d like to do with the Na’vi. Love, Death & Robots and Secret Level...

The Entire Avatar Timeline Explained
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

James Cameron truly is king of the world. He already became a legend with "The Terminator" and "Aliens," but then somehow topped himself with "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" -- perhaps the best action film ever produced -- and the terrific comedy-adventure "True Lies." Then, he went and directed the number one highest-grossing picture of all time -- that remained atop the charts for months! -- and swept the Oscars with 1997's "Titanic." At that point, most would call it a day and head home. But not James Cameron.

The hardworking artist then spent the next decade developing an ambitious new project that would once again push the boundaries of visual effects and create an entirely new universe for moviegoers to explore. We're talking, of course, about "Avatar," the massive franchise that likewise smashed box office records (including those set by...

New ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Visuals Tease the Most Breathtaking Chapter Yet
Image
James Cameron is back again with another Avatar film, and this one’s called Avatar: Fire and Ash. It’s the third movie in the Avatar series and a direct follow-up to Avatar: The Way of Water, which came out in 2022.

This new movie is still all about Pandora, the stunning alien world, and once again Cameron is directing, co-writing, co-editing, and producing the film. He worked on the script along with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, as well as Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to hit theaters on December 19, 2025, after a long journey filled with delays—nine of them to be exact. The movie was supposed to come out way earlier, but it kept getting pushed back because of the crazy amount of work involved, especially with the technology they needed for filming underwater scenes. They were doing things that had never been done before,...

The Avatar: Fire And Ash Trailer Teases The Biggest Moment In The Series So Far
Image
James "never doubt" Cameron has made some of the biggest pieces of cinematic spectacle of all time and has the receipts to prove it if any executive doubts his skills (as the "Titanic" director did while making the first "Avatar"). Having three of the top five highest-grossing movies of all time under his belt, few things are as certain in Hollywood these days as Cameron knowing exactly what audiences want to pay to see in theaters — and watch it over and over again. After so many box office pundits were forced to eat their words as "Avatar: The Way of Water" became a box office juggernaut and a film everyone was talking about, anticipation for its follow-up, "Avatar: Fire and Ash," are sky high. It also helps that the movie is arriving three years after its predecessor (as opposed to the 13 years that passed between "Avatar" and "The Way of Water").

First Glimpse of Pandora’s Ash People Surfaces in Unofficial ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Footage
James Cameron
A short‑lived leak of the first trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar 3, officially titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, hit social‑media platforms overnight after its locked premiere in cinemas with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, giving viewers an unsanctioned taste of Pandora’s next chapter before copyright bots swept it offline.

Though the clip lasted only hours, screenshots and fan threads mapped out sweeping volcanic vistas, scar‑red Na’vi warriors, and a tense reunion between Jake Sully, Neytiri, and their fractured family, confirming long‑rumoured story beats centred on grief after their son Neteyam’s death and an escalating clash with the fiery Ash People led by Varang, played by Oona Chaplin. Reactions hailed “ferocious new biomes” and “the series’ most complex antagonists yet.”

Industry insiders who attended the closed‑door preview described flashbacks framed by ancestral chants, flights over a black‑sand delta, and the first look...

Bruce Springsteen praises “tremendous” cast of Deliver Me From Nowhere
Bruce Springsteen at an event for Golden Globe Awards (2009)
Bruce Springsteen may have been born to run, but he also has a side hobby in snooping around on movie sets. The Boss would often make himself at home during production of upcoming film Deliver Me From Nowhere, visiting the filming locations — particularly in New Jersey — fairly often. And while he put himself in a position where he had to witness some bizarro version of his life, he did also get to see some excellent talent portraying it.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Bruce Springsteen admitted that there could be some awkward moments while cameras rolled on Deliver Me From Nowhere (officially retitled so Bruce’s name precedes) but had faith in the likes of Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong, who play The Boss and manager Jon Landau. “I mean, there’s some unusualness to it because the movie involves, in some ways, some of the most painful days of my life.

Bruce Springsteen Refused To Watch Certain Scenes in 'Deliver Me From Nowhere'
Image
Bruce Springsteen, the American artist behind rock albums like Born in the U.S.A. and Born to Run, is the latest singer to get his own musical biopic. The film is titled Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, and will depict the artist's journey when recording the 1982 album Nebraska, as well as the highlights of his whole life. The singer participated in the production of the biopic, which delves into truly personal events. As important as his presence must have been to maintain authenticity, there were some scenes that he refused to watch during production because he didn't want to interfere with the actors' organic performance.

Springsteen spoke to Rolling Stone about his entire career, and the subject of Deliver Me From Nowhere came up. The film is written and directed by Scott Cooper, and it's based on the book by Warren Zanes, Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.

Bruce Springsteen Says Jeremy Allen White-Led Biopic Covers “Most Painful Days” of His Life
Image
Bruce Springsteen is revealing what it was like to watch Jeremy Allen White portray him in his forthcoming biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere.

The film, hailing from writer-director Scott Cooper, stars White as the legendary artist, centering on the time period when he made his 1982 record Nebraska. The album is deeply personal, and Springsteen told Rolling Stone that there was “some unusualness” to watching the project be filmed because it touches on “some of the most painful days of my life.”

“I mean, there’s some unusualness to it because the movie involves, in some ways, some of the most painful days of my life,” he said, adding that he would take time away from set “if there was a scene coming up that was sometimes really deeply personal.”

Bruce Springsteen Says Biopic Covers ‘Some of the Most Painful Days of My Life,’ Praises Jeremy Allen White for Letting Him Visit the Set
Image
In a new interview published Thursday, Bruce Springsteen opened up about his experience on the set of the forthcoming music biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” and praised its star, Jeremy Allen White, for being “wonderfully tolerant” of his presence during production.

While speaking with Rolling Stone, Springsteen was asked what it was like to watch an actor play a younger version of him. “I’m sure it’s much worse for the actor than for me. Jeremy Allen White was very, very tolerant of me the days that I would appear on the set,” Springsteen told the outlet. “I said to him, ‘Look, anytime I’m in the way, just give me the look and I’m on my way home.’ So the days that I got out there, he was wonderfully tolerant with me being there.”

Bruce Springsteen Says Jeremy Allen White Was “Wonderfully Tolerant” Of The Boss’ Biopic Drop-Ins

The first trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, released yesterday, had the internet buzzing with the dead-on accuracy of star Jeremy Allen White performing, as Bruce Springsteen, the song “Born To Run.”

And now Springsteen himself has given the film his thumbs up, though not without some reservations: Springsteen says in a new interview with Rolling Stone that while he occasionally visited the set during shooting, he stayed home on days when the movie was getting too personal.

Asked whether watching scenes depicting his troubled childhood were emotionally intense, the singer-songwriter said, “Well, some of the scenes I wasn’t at. If there was a scene coming up that was sometimes really deeply personal, I wanted the actors to feel completely free, and I didn’t want to get in the way, and so I would just stay at home.”

Springsteen adds, though, that if director Scott Cooper wanted or needed him on set,...

Bruce Springsteen Says Jeremy Allen White Was ‘Wonderfully Tolerant’ of Biopic Set Visits, Reveals He Avoided Watching ‘Deeply Personal’ Scenes: It ‘Involves Some of the Most Painful Days of My Life’

Bruce Springsteen is opening up about watching his biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” come to life, revealing that he sometimes avoided “deeply personal” scenes when he would visit set.

“Deliver Me From Nowhere,” in which “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White plays Springsteen, chronicles the making of his 1982 album “Nebraska.” The record would go on to become one of his most enduring works, and was made at a time when Springsteen was reconciling his newfound success with the ghosts of his past.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Springsteen was asked what it’s been like to watch someone else play a younger version of him. “I’m sure it’s much worse for the actor than for me,” he responded. “Jeremy Allen White was very, very tolerant of me the days that I would appear on the set.”

Springsteen said that he told White, “Look, anytime I’m in the way,...

Jeremy Allen White Is Bruce Springsteen in First ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ Trailer

We got our first look at White’s performance with the debut trailer for 20th Century Studios’ “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” which is written and directed by “Crazy Heart” and “Black Mass” filmmaker Scott Cooper. First thing’s first: Yes, that’s White doing his own singing in the film, just as Chalamet did his own singing as Dylan in last year’s “A Complete Unknown.” Moreover, Springsteen himself was a regular on the set of “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” serving as a...

Jeremy Allen White is Bruce Springsteen in “boss” trailer for Deliver Me From Nowhere
Bruce Springsteen at an event for Golden Globe Awards (2009)
We usually associate Bruce Springsteen with only one state: New Jersey. But we can’t forget about Nebraska, as that 1982 album marked one of the most significant moments in The Boss’ career. Now, that making of that album – and the significance of that point in Bruce’s life – is the focus of the film Deliver Me From Nowhere, the full trailer of which has arrived almost immediately following the first teaser from yesterday.

The opening of the trailer for Deliver Me From Nowhere sees Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen behind the wheel of a new car. It’s there that there’s an immediate question of his identity, thus triggering the events that would lead him to retreat and record Nebraska.

In addition to seeing White both introspectively approaching Nebraska and tearing it up on stage, we get a look at longtime producer Jon Landau as played by Jeremy Strong.
