Black Doves season 2 delay just got worse after the latest update
Image
Black Doves was one of the most popular Netflix shows at the end of 2024! Netflix actually picked up Black Doves for a second season before the show even premiered in December, but that doesn't mean it's coming to Netflix anytime soon.

The latest Black Doves season 2 update is actually going to make the wait even longer, most likely, for fans waiting to see the second season of the spy thriller.

According to a report from What's on Netflix, Black Doves season 2 was supposed to start filming in the UK in July 2025, but that did not happen. Instead, production will start in "late September" and last through basically the end of the year and into early 2026.

Unfortunately, that is not good news for fans hoping to see the season on Netflix before the second half of 2026. There's definitely going to be a six to eight-month gap between the end of production...

Finn Bennett Was Sure He Flubbed His Audition for ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Series
Image
It’s the morning after Chopard’s glamorous gala dinner at Carlton Beach during the Cannes Film Festival, and Finn Bennett is perched on a sofa high above the Croisette inside the luxury jeweler’s penthouse suite at Hôtel Martinez.

Alongside fellow honorees, the 26-year-old actor received a Chopard Trophy during the ceremony in front of an A-list crowd that included filmmaker Quentin Tarantino; jury members like Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong and president Juliette Binoche; and the woman assigned to hand over the trophies, Chopard godmother Angelina Jolie. Needless to say, Bennett needed a bit more time to process the fairy tale evening, one that came after turning heads in such roles as Alex Garland’s Warfare, Issa Lopez’s True Detective opposite Jodie Foster and Joe Barton’s Black Doves opposite Keira Knightley and Ben Wishaw.

His profile is set to grow exponentially in 2026 when HBO Max debuts the...

6 political thrillers like Zero Day to binge-watch next
Image
Zero Day is one of Netflix's most popular and talked about shows at the moment, which doesn't come as a surprise given its compelling storyline and amazingly talented cast. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a show starring big names such as Robert De Niro, Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, etc.?

The entire first season of the new political thriller dropped on Netflix on Feb. 20, and with just six episodes, it didn't take long for viewers to binge-watch the whole installment. As expected, many rushed to search for details about a potential second season. However, they may not find the news they were hoping for. With Zero Day being billed as a limited series, the chances of it returning with a new season are slim, as its storyline is intended to be a self-contained narrative.

While this is disappointing news, there's no need to fret...

Jeff Daniels To Star In ‘Dilettante’ NY Media Drama In Works At Apple From ‘Julia’ Creator & Berlanti Productions
Image
Exclusive: Apple TV+ has landed for development Dilettante, a series starring Jeff Daniels as a character that will likely get the New York media circles buzzing, Deadline has learned. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and studio-based Berlanti Productions, is inspired by Dana Brown’s memoir about working for former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter.

Written by Brown and Julia creator Daniel Goldfarb, Dilettante is described as a fictionalized coming-of-age story set in the glamorous and cutthroat “Golden Age” of magazines in 1990s New York.

Daniels will play a fictional magazine editor that is certain to draw parallels to Carter the way another work of fiction about a young assistant to a powerful New York magazine editor, the movie The Devil Wears Prada, has been evoking Anna Wintour as a prototype for its editor character played by Meryl Streep.

Jeff Bridges previously played a magazine editor loosely based on Carter...

Ben Whishaw gives a positive clue on when Black Doves Season 2 will reach Netflix
Image
When you watch a great drama on Netflix you have a conflict over its ending. Of course, you want to get to the end to find out what happens, how all the stories come together, and what happens to the characters. Sometimes, though, it’s so good and enthralling that you want to be able to keep watching it and wish it wouldn't end. A new season is the obvious answer.

That was very much the case for Black Doves. The Netflix drama was released late last year and captured a lot of attention. It was a great mix of a thrilling story, some festive elements due to its Christmas in London setting, and, of course, a brilliant cast.

Led by Kiera Knightley and Ben Whishaw, there were also strong roles for Sarah Lancashire and Andrew Buchan. Tracey Ullman also makes a dramatic late appearance in the show. The names...

Every TV Show Leaving Netflix in January 2025
Image
Netflix, the world's largest streaming service, keeps its viewers engaged and subscribed through its carefully cultivated array of television shows available on the platform. Boasting acquired and original titles like Stranger Things, You, Squid Game, Arcane, and many more, the mega-streamer ensures its audience is always coming back for more. With many new shows coming to the platform throughout 2025, Netflix must remove some long-time staples from their service. Whether the license expires or the show isn't performing to its desired levels, sometimes sacrifices must be made to benefit Netflix and keep it the number one streaming platform.

Unfortunately, audiences can expect to say goodbye to many multi-season TV shows throughout this January. However, viewers must keep in mind that new shows and movies will replace what the platform will lose. A few of the platform's new additions will include American Primeval, Cunk on Life, and The Night Agent, Season 2. Despite the following TV series removals,...

Before ‘Black Doves,’ Sarah Lancashire Gave One of TV’s Greatest Performances in This Gritty Crime Drama
Image
Not only has Netflix's hit spy drama, Black Doves, given us great chemistry between Keira Knightley's secret agent, Helen, and Ben Wishaw's charming triggerman, Sam, but Sarah Lancashire's powerful performance as the omnipotent employer of Helen and Sam, Mrs. Reed, gives the show a larger-than-life presence. However, despite Lancashire's talented display, it is nowhere near her best, which isn't an insult to Black Doves, but a testament to her work on the British crime drama, Happy Valley. Lancashire brings the cold hardness you may like about her performance in Black Doves to Happy Valley and adds a gruffness and vulnerability that makes her a far more complex character than her menacing but somewhat one-note Mrs. Reed. From the way she battles the trauma of losing her daughter to the relationships with her family to the volatile criminals that she comes face-to-face with daily, Lancashire's performance is...

Upon its early December release, Joe Barton‘s spy thriller Black Doves soared into Netflix’s top 10 most-watched shows in 89 countries.

Starring Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw, the series has already been renewed for a season two. It was a bloody and brutal season finale — we’d expect nothing less — where everyone (metaphorically and literally) lost their head a little.

In Black Doves, Knightley stars as Helen Webb, wife to the U.K.’s defense secretary Wallace and ascending government minister (Andrew Buchan). For years, she’d been passing her husband’s secrets on to a shadowy organization Helen works for (helmed by Sarah Lancashire’s Mrs Reed), which leaves her hard-pressed to explain where she’s been and what she’s been up to when returning home to her family after a hard day’s work.

All of a sudden, the death of Helen’s secret lover...

'Black Doves' Mystery Woman in the Season Finale Explained by Creator
Image
Black Doves creator Joe Barton has revealed a crucial twist that was embedded into the final scenes of season one. The sequence in question features a woman, whom fans may have been unable to identify. The woman sits quietly in the home of spymaster Mrs. Reed (Sarah Lancashire), who enjoys a glass of champagne on Christmas. Barton divulges his intentions behind various character choices in a new GQ interview, and the show's creator also reveals the mystery woman's identity at long last.

"That's Marie (Molly Chesworth), she's Helen and Wallace's nanny. She pops up throughout the series, so it's possible to miss. I mean, she looks like she could be Reed’s daughter, they've got a similar haircut," explained Barton, adding:

But no, she's the nanny, so she's been spying on them the whole time. Basically, everyone's a spy.

Though Marie is afforded limited screen time, she shares an...

'Black Doves' Creator Offers First Season 2 Plot Details
Image
Unlike most Netflix shows, the spy thriller series Black Doves was immune from sudden cancelation from the get-go, having been renewed for Season 2 before the first outing was even released. Now that the series has debuted and hugely impressed both critics and audiences, creator Joe Barton has teased what we can expect from Black Doves Season 2 and the continuing adventures of Keira Knightley’s Helen Webb.

Speaking with Netflix Tudum recently, Barton teased the plot of Black Doves Season 2, revealing that he likes the idea of seeing Helen getting “pulled deeper into the world of spies having been so close to leaving.” As her husband, Wallace, edges closer to the top job as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, this inevitably “increases the pressure and the danger on her as a spy.”

“Just seeing the tension of that, seeing Sam back in London … I would like to see more Eleanor and Williams,...

New Netflix Show Beats Some Of 2024’s Biggest Movies In New Streaming Ranking
Image
A new thriller on Netflix is beating some of the biggest blockbusters of the year in the latest streaming ranking. Because of the strike delays related to the writers and actors strikes, and also because of how long prestige series can take to move through production, Netflix made it known that some of its biggest originals wouldn't make a 2024 release date. That includes the Jenna Ortega-led supernatural horror Wednesday and the final season of Stranger Things.

The streamer was boosted by the breakout success of the romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, led by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, which became one of the most-discussed new series. The Diplomat season 2 and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story built on the foundations of their first installments, with Outer Banks, Bridgerton, and The Lincoln Lawyer all continuing to draw massive viewership. A recently debuted thriller could end up being a significant hit.

The Keira Knightley Spy Thriller Series Taking Over Netflix's Top 10 Charts
Image
It might be hard to remember, given the absolute cavalcade of "content" being constantly shoveled onto the Netflix servers, but back in 2022 Charlie Cox starred in the Netflix spy thriller "Treason," a show that released for Christmas and turned out to be pretty underwhelming. That was a shame, too, since Cox's star was back on the rise following the cancellation and swift Disney revival of "Daredevil," and the man is undeniably a talented actor. Sadly, the series itself fell short of being the Christmas gift fans of the spy genre were hoping for.

Now, Netflix is making it up to us all with "Black Doves," a six-episode spy thriller that debuted just in time for the festive season and features another British star in the form of Keira Knightly. Created and written by Joe Barton, "Black Doves" is set in London at Christmas time and follows Knightly's Helen Webb,...

Why Sam "Owes" Helen In Black Doves Season 1
Image
Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Black Doves season 1.Sam Young (Ben Whishaw) owed Helen Webb (Keira Knightley) a debt in Black Doves season 1, but Netflix's spy thriller hid the reason for that debt until the middle of the season. As a spy thriller, there are several questions the cast of Black Doves sought to answer in the show's first season, such as who killed Ambassador Chen and, more importantly to Helen, who killed Jason Davies. One question the characters weren't concerned with answering, but that the show hid from the audience for a fair amount of time, is why Sam owed Helen some sort of debt.

When Reed (Sarah Lancashire) first hired Sam, she said that she needed someone Helen could trust and that Sam owed her. However, Black Doves didn't immediately reveal why Sam owed Helen or where their mutual trust came from, aside from the fact that they were longtime friends.
