Why Did Vince McMahon Turn WWF Into WWE?
Image
It has been more than two decades since WWE made one of the biggest and yet one of the most subtle changes in all time. They changed the company name, which piqued the fancy of the kids back then, but it all happened for a reason. WWE, the biggest pro-wrestling giant of all time had to bow down and Vince McMahon, despite knowing it all, had no other choices remaining.

Back in the day, a popular belief that was fuelled by the switch in the name of the company was that from real-life wrestling, it would turn to entertainment. However, the entertainment was all along. It is just that the name chosen by the authority fell short in what was a legal battle and McMahon happily made the switch.

Triple H Said Stephanie McMahon is Not the Reason Why He Broke Up With Chyna
Image
Vince McMahon’s daughter is not the only girl related to WWE that Triple H dated; WWE star Chyna was Triple H’s girlfriend long before Stephanie McMahon. The Game and Chyna were together for approximately four years, from 1996 to 2000.

Shortly after their breakup, Triple H got into a relationship with Stephanie McMahon, which raised eyebrows, and people started to contemplate that Stephanie McMahon was the actual reason behind the separation.

According to Chyna Triple H, got involved with Stephanie while they were in a relationship and it was because of the Billion Dollar Princess, that Triple H broke up with her. Despite being the reason behind their separation Chyna refused to blame the daughter of WWE’s main man.

Cm Punk’s First Ufc Opponent Revealed
© Brock Miller/Splash News/Corbis

After a lengthy wait and much speculation regarding his anticipated mixed martial arts debut, we now have information on who we may see former WWE superstar Cm Punk square off against when he finally steps inside the octagon.

In an interview with Michael Landsberg, Ufc president Dana White finally dropped some news regarding Punk and his future:

“I’m bringing Mickey Gall in and he’s going to fight a kid named Michael Jackson. They’re going to fight on the prelims on February 6th on Fight Pass and if he wins that fight, Mickey Gall will fight Cm Punk and Cm Punk will be there at the fight to watch.”

MIckey Gall is a 23-year old with a record of 1-0, with his victory coming by way of submission. His opponent Michael Jackson is much more experienced, sporting a record just above .500 at 11-...

Ufc Using New Show To Find Opponent For Cm PUnk?
WWE.com

The Cm Punk journey to the Ufc continues to chug along, and while there has been relatively little news about the fighter of late, an interesting tidbit has come out from none other than Ufc President Dana White himself in regards to Punk’s potential first opponent:

White may be using the new show “Looking for a Fight” to scout Cm Punk’s dance partner. He told Tsn’s Michael Landsberg;

I just started a new show. The pilot is on YouTube. It’s called, ‘Dana White: Looking for a fight.’ I’m actually out looking for opponents for Cm Punk right now.

Before you scoff at the idea, it actually makes a fair amount of sense. Despite the likes of former title challenger Chael Sonnen and Ufc bigwig Lorenzo Fertitta saying Punk would face a known name, the safer path for their investment would generally be a...

8 Things We Learned From Cm Punk’s Sports Illustrated Appearance
WWE.com

Cm Punk is back in the media with a new interview with Sports Illustrated. Which is no surprise, but this latest interview is a must read for Punk fans and wrestling fans in general. The fighter and former WWE champion is in the process of transitioning to a career in mixed martial arts with the Ufc, and he touches both on his burgeoning fight career, and time spent with the world’s largest pro wrestling outfit.

It is, in truth, a fascinating article. Not because of any shocking new revelations but because of how frank and honest Punk is, and how at ease he now seems to be with his pro wrestling past. Even a few months seem to have softened him: compare this interview to his blow up during an interview with Off the Record’s Michael Landsberg, for example.

It seems to be more than just that,...

Chael Sonnen And Wanderlei Silva To Have WWE Talks?
Jeff Chiu/AP/Press Association Images

There’s no doubt about it, Chael Sonnen is one of the biggest hype men in Mma history. If the American Hero’s latest comments are to be believed, he could very well have a future in the WWE.

Speaking to Off The Record’s Michael Landsberg, Sonnen revealed how he and Wanderlei Silva have both been invited to this year’s WWE Hall of Fame event.

Sonnen said, “I got a call from WWE. They say, ‘Look, we have a Hall of Fame show in March. If you want to come out, we want to talk to you about some stuff.’ They laid out at that.”

He then continued, “If they are buying me a plane ticket and they’re given me a ticket to the show, I do enjoy that product. I don’t know what we are talking about, but I...

8 Wrestlers That Lost Their Tempers With Reporters
Tsn

After the dust had seemingly settled from his now infamous appearance on Colt Cabana’s ‘Art of Wrestling’ podcast, Cm Punk was the headline guest on Michael Landsberg’s ‘Off The Record’ to talk about his upcoming career in the Ufc.

During the interview, Landsberg, a serial troller, constantly made light of Punk’s move to the octagon and refused to acknowledge him as a fighter. The show started with a package outlining some potential opponents for the former Straight Edge Society leader that included rapper Drake, Justin Bieber and Chef Boyardee and completely nosedived from there. Obviously, the former WWE Champion didn’t take kindly to this and would criticise the Canadian for having a split personality on and off camera, claiming to like Landsberg’s ‘gimmick, kid’.

Landsberg has a history of ruffling the feathers of some of sport’s biggest stars and his conduct while interviewing...

Cm Punk Upset With Interviewer Over WWE Questions
WWE.com

In an interview earlier this week with Michael Landsberg of Tsn’s Off The Record, Cm Punk got more than a little upset with one particular line of questioning that saw his WWE days brought into the mix. In the end, he wound up accusing Landsberg on-air of being two-faced, and became more and more agitated throughout the interview.

The rub of it is, the original question that seems to have irked Punk was simple: Had he ever been punched in the face?

His answer:

“You obviously haven’t seen some of the guys I was wrestling in the WWE. Yes, I’ve taken a real punch to the face.”

At this point, things began to slowly go downhill. To be fair to Punk, the question came after a segment in which his proposed first fight in the Ufc was parodied – with the show poking fun at the lack of date,...

Canada backyard Olympics coverage gears up
Toronto -- Like a general keeping his army working, moving and communicating, Canadian sports broadcaster Rick Chisholm is directing traffic among 1,400 production staff and crew in the throes of preparation for the Vancouver Olympics.

As executive vp broadcasting for Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, comprising 12 Canuck networks, Chisholm knows the Feb. 12-28 Games, with so much splash and spectacle in Canada's own backyard, could well become the most-watched event in Canadian TV history.

"The world's watching your city and your country, and you want to make sure your country represents itself well," he said.

Canadian expertise in producing hockey, figure skating, curling and short track speed skating telecasts means Chisholm his team will provide core feeds of those marquee events to the Ioc's Olympic Broadcasting Service, the host broadcaster for the 2010 Olympics.

That has Chisholm overseeing from his base at the Ioc's International Broadcast Center (Ibc) in Vancouver six standing...
