Gillian Anderson Wasn't Going To Let Her Character Be The X-Files' Female 'Sidekick'
Image
"The X-Files" introduced audiences to liver-eating immortals, parasitic black oil, and a badass FBI agent named Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). The groundbreaking show and its deep lore changed the television landscape forever and created the foundation for popular shows like "Supernatural," "Stranger Things," and "American Horror Story."

The mysterious monsters and shadow-dwelling freaks contributed to the success of "The X-Files," but the electric chemistry between Anderson and David Duchovny kept the show fresh and interesting for a quarter of a century. Like aliens and probes, and shady governments and coverups, Mulder and Scully frequently intertwine, but Gillian Anderson recently revealed one huge thing that has separated her co-star David Duchovny.

"The X-Files" revolutionized the science fiction genre, and episodic television, but wasn't so quick to shake off traditional gender roles. During an interview with The Daily Beast, Anderson revealed that she often felt pressured to play the sidekick role and...

Two New Trailers For The X-Files Event Series Hit The Airwaves
Of all the notable film and television projects that are due to arrive in 2016, it is safe to say that The X-Files event series is among the most highly anticipated. Thankfully, with a premiere date set for January, the wait will not be overly torturous – but 20th Century Fox still likes to tease. Having already set the tone with a number of tiny snippets previously released, the most recent episodes of Gotham and Minority Report saw the debut of a pair of trailers for The X-Files (presented together, above), which took an innovative episodic approach.

Trailer one is the weaker of the two, because it incorporates a somewhat cheesy voiceover introduction from Agent Mulder. This is clearly designed to get the necessary exposition out of the way, and bring everyone up to speed. The X-Files is over twenty years old, after all, so there’s a whole new generation of viewers waiting to be enthralled.

'The X-Files' Revival Wraps Production
David Duchovny
After starting production three months ago in Vancouver, filming is winding down on Fox's Untitled X-Files Revival, with Yvr Shoots reporting that series star David Duchovny wrapped production last night. The site goes onto say that there is still one more overnight shoot left before the six-episode series wraps completely. To commemorate his time in Vancouver, David Duchovny posted a photo from the airport as he left the Canadian city.

We also have a photo of David Duchovny embracing series creator Chris Carter last night, after he filmed his final scene. That scene in question involves a number of people covering their noses and mouths as they flee from the area, as some sort of "light from above" shines down on the car David Duchovny's Mulder is sitting in. The scene also features Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Agent Miller (Robbie Amell) coming to Mulder's aid, and the report also...

'The X-Files' Cast Gets Photobombed by Obama
Gillian Anderson
The presidential portrait is a series staple on The X-Files. And a new behind-the-scenes photo shared by returning star Gillian Anderson reveals that it is back in place. Though, last time the show was on the air in 2002, President George W. Bush was in office. And he was still in office when the last movie, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, hit theaters in July of 2008. Barack Obama was elected President just a few short months later, but this is the first time his presence will be felt on the show. About the President photobombing her selfie, which also includes co-stars David Duchovny and Mitch Pileggi, Gillian Anderson had this to say.

"Best photo bomb in @thexfiles history!"

Gillian Anderson tweeted out the photo, which you can see below, on Wednesday. She is seen in full character as Dana Scully, in what is presumably one of the upcoming episodes from...

'The X-Files' Brings Back Annabeth Gish as Agent Reyes
Another original X-Files cast member has signed on to return for Fox's Untitled X-Files Revival, with Annabeth Gish set to reprise her role as FBI agent Monica Reyes, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She joins a growing list of stars from the original series, such as Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis (The Cigarette Smoking Man). It isn't known if she will appear in just one episode of the six-episode event series, or if she will have a bigger role.

The news shouldn't be too surprising, since series creator Chris Carter stated in March that he wants the whole original cast to come back. It was also recently confirmed that the computer hacker group known as The Lone Gunmen, Dean Haglund (Ringo Langly), Tom Braidwood (Frohike) and Bruce Harwood (Byers) will be back, along with Sheila Larken as Dana Scully's mother,...
