Beth Dutton became a fan-favorite character on "Yellowstone" and a big part of that is down to actress Kelly Reilly, who somehow managed to strike a delicate balance between the character's strong independence and her often shocking amorality. According to Reilly, it's the character flaws that really endeared fans to Beth, with audiences quickly becoming simultaneously appalled and enraptured by the character's willingness to embrace her failings and maintain her strong will even at the expense of those around her, including loved ones. Whatever the reason, Beth became a popular enough character for Paramount to give her and Cole Hauser's Rip Wheeler their own spin-off, which will follow the married couple after the tumultuous (and controversial) events of the fifth and final season of "Yellowstone."

If an entirely new Harry Potter TV series wasn't enough, Audible will debut an ensemble cast audio dramatization of the beloved novels later this year.
The audio series follows in the footsteps of previous successful Audible dramas, such as 1984 and The Sandman, boasting a stellar cast with names such as Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, and Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape.
Another major casting sees Michelle Gomez take on the role of Hogwarts Professor Minerva McGonagall. Naturally, people have taken issue with yet another Harry Potter adaptation, and many have also thrown shade at the cast for taking part in an adaptation of J.K. Rowling's work.
In the case of Gomez, she quickly took to her Instagram Story (per Entertainment Weekly) to speak out against Rowling's anti-trans views.

Wherever the Harry Potterfranchise goes, controversy has seemed to follow, and the story is no different with the latest iteration of the Wizarding World. Michelle Gomez, who is set to portray Professor McGonagall in Audible's upcoming Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editionsaudiobook, has released a statement about the role. The project has generated controversy due to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling'shistory of transphobic and anti-lgbtq+ comments.
"To my LGBTQ+ fans, and especially the trans community: I want to speak directly to the concerns that have been raised about my involvement in this project," Gomez said on her Instagram page. "I hear you, and I understand why this is painful for many. I want to be clear that I stand with trans people, and I support trans rights – fully and without hesitation." Gomez added:

According to his interview with Forbes, Adriano Goldman, cinematographer for the upcoming HBO Harry Potter reboot, announced that he’s bringing big changes to the show (reported via Collider). One of the biggest updates is that the TV series will look a lot brighter and more colorful than the Og movies.
Adriano Goldman noted spending 18 weeks in pre-production with the creative team, designing a vibrant visual style that brings out the whimsical charm of the Wizarding World. Unlike the films, which became darker and duller over time, this version aims to capture the color and warmth of J.K. Rowling’s books.
This is the part I consider most rewarding. Collaborating from the origin of the project… this joint elaboration of visual content allows a broader collaboration between talented professionals from various areas.
I have a special relationship with color. This series needs to be more vibrant from the global point of view of the image…...

The Harry Potter franchise has been getting a lot of new content recently, but with it came tremendous backlash. Author J. K. Rowling is considered one of the loudest anti-transgender voices in the UK, and celebrities and ordinary people alike have criticized her for her views. Now, one of the actors in the new Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions has released a statement after taking the role of Professor McGonagall.
Michelle Gomez, best known for playing Missy in the long-running series Doctor Who, released a statement on her Instagram Stories. “To my LGBTQ+ fans, and especially the trans community: I want to speak directly to the concerns that have been raised about my involvement in this project,” she said. “I hear you, and I understand why this is painful for many. As filming continues on HBO’s new Harry Potter series, a surprising new video has fans buzzing — and it’s not from the set. The spotlight instead lands on a different adaptation: Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, Audible and Pottermore’s ambitious new reimagining of the classic novels. The cast features a star-studded roster of over 200 performers, but one name is generating particular excitement: Arabella Stanton, the young actress voicing Hermione Granger in the first three installments of the audio series.
In a new behind-the-scenes video released to promote the Audible project, Stanton appears alongside Frankie Treadaway (Harry Potter) and Max Lester (Ron Weasley) as the trio answer Potter-themed trivia questions. While all three are charming, Stanton’s performance is an undeniable standout — bursting with wit, confidence, and unmistakable Hermione energy. Why One Hermione Scene in Harry Potter Is Different From What You Remember: Arabella Stanton Version
Hermione Granger’s iconic line from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is actually very different than what you might remember. Arabella Stanton, who will be portraying the role of the new Hermione Granger, recently recorded that iconic line from the novel, and she said it a bit differently than what was depicted in the film.
According to a clip shared on X, Arabella Stanton can be seen sitting and giving her introduction. The clip cuts to Stanton standing in front of her mic and recording her line. She says, “It’s Wingardium LeviOsa. Make the ‘gar’ nice and long”. Check out the clip below:

As the world gears up to watch the new — and already highly anticipated — Harry Potter TV series, Pottermore took the opportunity to announce the cast of yet another adaptation of the novel series written by J.K. Rowling. Titled Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, the project brought to life by Pottermore Publishing and Audible has rounded out a high-profile cast to bring the classic story to life in audio format. The new Audible editions start rolling out this November.
The new version differs from traditional audiobook readings because it features a full cast of 200+ voice actors, whereas the common practice is to have one person reading the full content. Pottermore Publishing spared no expense when selecting the main cast members for the project: Hugh Laurie (House) will play Albus Dumbledore, Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal) will voice Severus Snape, and Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who) will embody fan favorite Professor McGonagall.

Right now, the Harry Potter franchise is entering a new era. The beloved original movies are all over a decade old at this point, and they still remain a cultural behemoth. Yet still, an all-new live-action adaptation has already begun filming, coming to HBO in 2027. And that's not all: Audible will soon debut a full-cast audio drama of the books.
Of course, Harry Potter has been around in audiobook form for years and years. Look no further than the version narrated by Stephen Fry, which is probably the most famous audiobook version of the story. However, the new project being cooked up by Audible is far from a traditional audiobook; it's a full-blown, ensemble cast audio dramatization. It adapts all seven novels in immersive Dolby Atmos, with an original score and real-world sound effects.

TV movies are a bit of a special breed. They aren’t built for box office glory or red-carpet premieres. Instead, they’re made for living rooms—films created to be watched on cozy nights in, with snacks nearby and the remote within reach. They’ve always been more personal to the audience; they are a little more low-key, and sometimes surprisingly powerful to watch.
These movies might not have the cinematic dazzle of blockbusters, but they land where it matters most. Yep, you guessed that right, they perfectly land at the heart. And while the line between TV and streaming continues to blur, there’s still a lot of charm in those made-for-tv gems that captivated millions without ever needing a theater screen.
Some of them even rival the best of Hollywood. Here are twenty standout TV movies that show just how strong the format can be.

With House M.D. streaming on Netflix, longtime fans and new viewers alike are revisiting the show’s complex cast. Many are reconsidering one of the most disliked characters, Dr. Martha M. Masters. Introduced in Season 7 as a bright, by-the-book student, Masters initially rubbed audiences the wrong way.
With her rigid ethics and refusal to bend rules in the world of Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), she was one of the polarizing characters. But a closer look reveals something far more compelling. Masters was the only character who truly stood up to House’s cynicism. However, her character was only meant to stay for a short period, aligning with the story of the tough girl.

Try as you might, you can never stop the ticking of the clock. Because of this, it has now somehow been eight years since MCU star Tom Hiddleston got the closest he’ll ever get to playing James Bond in this critically acclaimed spy thriller series. Finally, after waiting almost a decade, the show has now taken a major step forward, with a second season now well into production.
The series is titled The Night Manager, and finds Hiddleston starring as Jonathan Pine, the night manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo and former British soldier. Taking pride in running the prestige hotel, Pine finds himself recruited by Angela Burr, the manager of a Foreign Office task force, and instructed to infiltrate the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). Now, Pine finds himself attempting to not only integrate himself into Roper's inner circle by becoming a felon himself,...

It’s been some eight years since the BBC-amc adaptation of John le Carré’s “The Night Manager” took the world by storm, racking up awards on both sides of the pond. The spy thriller, starring Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman will be back, this time set mostly in Colombia.
“More than 75% of the story is about Colombia,” says Barry Ryan, head of production at Ink Factory, which also produced Season 1 and will produce Seasons 2 and 3. The fact that there has been a peace process, that there was a conflict and that young soldiers were involved – that background has been used to inform and shape the narrative, he adds.
When series creator-writer David Farr thought about setting Season 2 in Colombia, he flew over with executive producer Tessa Inkelaar, on a “writing recce.” Drawing inspiration from his visit, he wrote all six episodes, completely off-book. In an interview with other outlets,...

While he first gained fame for his role as Collins in Dunkirk, the WWII epic from Christopher Nolan, Jack Lowden has exploded in popularity over the last few years thanks to his work in Slow Horses. Lowden stars alongside Gary Oldman in the hit Apple TV+ series, which will air its fifth season on September 24. Apple has now announced that it is strengthening its partnership with Lowden, who has been recruited to lead a new Berlin Noir adaptation for the streamer. Tom Shankland (The Punisher) has also boarded the series as a director and executive producer. Lowden will play detective Bernie Gunther, a police officer who must investigate a serial killer targeting victims on the margins of the city. As the political and social landscapes continue to shift, Bernie must fight for the truth in a world increasingly less interested in it.

Even in its least interesting seasons (which isn't a dig by any stretch), David Shore's beloved medical drama, "House" always featured complex, multi-layered, and intellectually provoking recurring characters. Naturally, everybody had their favorites (Olivia Wilde's mysterious Thirteen was mine) for different reasons, but regardless of who you preferred, all of them were intriguing to some degree because of how they treated (and were treated by) Hugh Laurie's insufferably mean genius, Dr. Gregory House.
The fresh face in the penultimate season was Dr. Masters, played by Amber Tamblyn, a third-year medical student and intern who was extremely bright yet inexperienced due to her lack of training. She was smart and well-educated, but also too obedient and by-the-book, which irritated the hell out of House, since he usually went against the book and broke as many rules (ethical or otherwise) as needed to successfully diagnose every one of his patients.

To anyone watching from the outside, Hugh Laurie had a great time on "House." The Fox medical drama ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012, and during that time, Laurie was reportedly earning $400,000 per episode making him the highest-paid actor ever in a TV drama. At the height of its popularity, "House" was the most-watched TV show in the world and made Laurie, already a well-established actor, a star. It helped that the series was also really good. "House" had some of the best episodes of television in history, ranging from cerebral and reflective to the hilarious and downright harrowing, like the time Kal Penn's Lawrence Kutner left "House."
With all that in mind, you'd expect Laurie to look back with nothing but fondness for the eight seasons he spent portraying Dr. Gregory House. And for the most part that seems to be the case, although the British star has...

For several years, the cat-and-mouse game between Iranian and Israeli intelligence has been not just one of the most gripping events in the news but one of the most compelling spectacles on television.
The Israeli show Tehran, which Apple TV+ bankrolls and airs globally, has earned accolades over its first two seasons for the tense, authentic way it depicts Mossad agents inside Iran seeking to undermine the regime.
But a strange silence has fallen over the drama since Iran attacked Israel via its Hamas proxy on Oct. 7 2023, kicking off Israel’s War in Gaza and, eventually, in Lebanon and Iran. Though Tehran’s third season was finished by mid-2023, Apple indefinitely postponed its debut several times in the wake of the attack, including from a planned April 2024 date, and the show hasn’t been heard from anywhere outside of Israel since. (The streamer gave the greenlight to the producer, Israeli public broadcaster Kan,...

House MD Outsmarted Breaking Bad & Game Of Thrones In 2008 (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Breaking Bad may have been redefining television with its slow burn and criminal transformation, and Game of Thrones was just beginning to build its fantasy empire—but in 2008, neither was the show pulling in the biggest crowds. That year, a different series quietly took the crown, and it didn’t need meth labs or dragons to do it.
It wasn’t set in a drug world or a fantasy kingdom. It took place in a hospital. House MD, the medical drama starring Hugh Laurie, was the most viewed television drama in the world, with over 81 million viewers worldwide—a number that even Walter White could not cook up.

Tehran, the Apple TV+ espionage thriller, has reclaimed the spotlight 5 years after its release. The show now ranks No. 2 on Apple TV+’s watchlist for most popular shows. This is an English-Hebrew-Persian series revolving around a Mossad agent-hacker, who has returned to become the talk of the town, owing to its compelling storytelling along with savvy dynamics on the platform.
This slow-burning drama is rich in the tension it offers, along with authenticity. The show was awarded an International Emmy Award for Best Drama series in November 2021, becoming the first ever Israeli show to win this honor. Season 1 bagged 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, due to its credible geopolitical depth and gripping plot.

Team Fortress 2 is one of Valve’s finest titles of all time, and players are still booting up the game even to this day. Seems like there’s no stopping this 2007 game when it comes to standing the test of time.
Valve’s best are yet to receive new games like Half-Life or the Team Fortress series, let alone live-action movies. But this hasn’t stopped the community from fan-casting the characters in the game, and we might have found the perfect one.

Based on writer Jussi Adler-Olsen’s book series by the same name, Netflix’s “Dept Q” is a taut thriller propelled by a layered mystery, timely humor, and an eclectically charming cast. Created by Scott Frank, the nine-episode British crime thriller grips your attention early and plays with it with some clever ruses. With Matthew Goode’s charismatically jaded Carl Morck (like Hugh Laurie’s House MD), Alexej Manvelov’s enigmatic Akram, and Leah Byrne’s sharply vibrant Rose, we have a team of investigators we will not mind tuning in to for the foreseeable future. A trifecta we have not seen since the cult-ish “Mindhunter.”
So, the only concern for the show is whether Netflix execs will find it in their heart to allow it to grow into a multi-season series. As soon as possible. Meanwhile, let us discuss the show’s ending and the various subplots’ conclusions.

Even in May 2025, Apple TV+ has not yet announced the release date for season 3 of Tehran. The season has already premiered on Israel’s network Kan 11 in December last year, but the reason for its international delay is due to the several geopolitical sensitivities around the content of the show.
Even though the show has aired in Israel, Apple TV+ continues to assess the correct timing for its global release, considering that the show portrays sensitive issues about the Iran-Israel tensions. It is important that the timing is just right, because the channel wouldn’t want to spark any sort of controversies on the topics covered in the series.

Back in 2007, before he became TV’s go-to auteur for smart genre programming for grown-ups, Oscar nominated writer Scott Frank made a transition to directing with The Lookout, a twisty slab of neo-noir that features, among other things, my favorite performance from Matthew Goode, in a charmingly vicious turn.
It’s been 18 years, but Frank and Goode have finally reteamed for Netflix’s Dept. Q, a nine-episode adaptation of the first book in Jussi Adler-Olsen’s series of Danish crime novels — though I say “finally” as if there’s a there are zillions of us Lookout-istas clamoring for this reunion.
For the more casually fanatical, it’s probably more of a draw to say that after Godless, The Queen’s Gambit and Monsieur Spade, Dept. Q continues to confirm how good Frank is at well-crafted, complicated dramas that prove that you don’t need to do anything unprecedented to make a good TV show.

Update: This story was originally published March 20, 2025; it was updated on May 27, 2025 with the addition of Lilo & Stich.
Following the disappointing performance of Snow White at the box office earlier this year, Disney reportedly put a live-action remake of Tangled on hold and hit pause on other projects in development. However, the fantastic, record-smashing opening weekend of Lilo & Stitch may convince the House of Mouse to once again aggressively remake its animated features.
Disney first started re-imagining its animation classics into live-action features during the '90s, and that trend has only accelerated in the 21st century. The next remake on the horizon is Moana, which features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reprising his role as Maui from the 2016 original. But that won’t be arriving in theaters until July 2026.
Until Moana debuts, our rankings for all of Disney’s live-action remakes are up to date through the release of Lilo & Stitch.

Sometimes the real world can be a little overwhelming, and there are few things as soothing as curling up with your warm beverage of choice and a cozy mystery. Whether you prefer your detectives to be rumpled little guys with cigars or more refined figures with impeccable mustaches, there's just nothing quite like watching them solve crimes using their skills of perception and deduction. And while there have been a handful of spectacular mystery storytellers over the years, few can compare with the oeuvre of author Agatha Christie.
Over her expansive career, Christie wrote and published 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections. Her two most famous detectives were Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, and over the years, dozens of film and TV adaptations were made about them and their exploits. While Christie could be understandably picky about the adaptations, quite a few of them are excellent. And there's great news...

Whether you’re into robots, aliens, or glitchy digital afterlives, this list delivers.
Sci-fi was a staple in my house growing up. We’re talking full “Star Trek: The Next Generation” nights — the only show I was allowed to stay up to watch until 11 p.m. But I’ve always had a soft spot for comedy too, so it makes total sense that as an adult, I gravitate toward shows that mash up the two.
There’s just something awesome about a show that contemplates what’s out beyond our world (or what could be hidden in it) and still makes you laugh. And with Apple TV+ dropping their newest show, “Murderbot,” it felt like the perfect time to round up my all-time favorite sci-fi comedies. So, here are the top seven sci-fi comedy TV shows you can stream right now.

The Night Manager Season 2 will feature a love triangle stage when the show comes back to the air in 2025. The British series initially wowed audiences in 2016 behind names like Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. New episodes have been greenlit after a nearly decade-long wait, so the story can continue.
Diego Calva, who will star in The Night Manager Season 2, teased another love triangle plot point coming. Season 1 used the love triangle concept through most of its overarching narrative between Hugh Laurie's Richard Roper, Tom Hiddleston's Jonathan Pine, and Elizabeth Debicki's Jed Marshall. That plot device seems to be staying in place when the show returns for a new season.
Speaking exclusively with The Direct's Russ Milheim at SXSW while promoting On Swift Horses, Calva offered the love triangle information quickly while teasing what to expect from the new season:

Not every Saturday Night Live sketch is destined for viral glory, even if Andy Samberg is behind the idea. And that's especially true if Lorne Michaels himself hates it.
The sketch in question is "Lamps" from a 2008 episode hosted by Hugh Laurie. The clip resurfaced recently on The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers podcast, where Meyers prompted his former SNL colleagues to recall Lamps, a strange sketch involving singing lamps
In the sketch, Samberg, Kristen Wiig, and Laurie played lamps that come to life and burst into song once their human owners (Fred Armisen and Michaela Watkins) leave the store. Things take a turn when the lamps are caught mid-serenade and must go to absurd lengths to cover up their sentient secret.

Can you believe it’s been over 20 years since House first debuted?!
The award-winning Fox medical drama centered on Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), who is devoid of anything resembling bedside manner and wouldn’t even talk to his patients if he could get away with it. Dealing with his own constant physical pain, he uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor.
While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him widespread respect. An infectious disease specialist, House thrives on the challenge of solving medical puzzles in order to save lives.
Among the cast include stars like Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer, Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Peter Jacobson, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, Odette Annable and Charlyne Yi.

When Friends first hit our screens in 1994, it wasn’t just coffee that was brewing at Central Perk—drama, laughs, and a whole lotta “we were on a break!” were, too. The world instantly fell for the quirky gang: Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Monica, and Chandler.
But let’s face it—Ross and Rachel were the will-they-won’t-they that kept us on the edge of our couches. From Rachel crashing into their lives in a wedding dress to Ross pining like it’s 1994 forever, these two were endgame… kinda.
So pivot your attention, because we need to talk about that whole Ross/Rachel/Emily mess.
Why Emily from Friends was never the villain we made her out to be David Schwimmer as Ross Geller and Helen Baxendale Emily Waltham in Friends| Credits: NBC
“He said Rachel at the altar!” — and just like that, Ross Geller pulled the ultimate Friends faux pas.

Friends may have ended in 2004, but the debates? Like Joey’s love for sandwiches—eternal. It’s been thirty years since we met the Central Perk crew, and somehow Friends still hits like Monica’s Thanksgiving turkey—comforting, chaotic, and stuffed with drama. Across 10 seasons, we laughed, cried, and maybe even screamed, “Pivot!” at our own couches. But beyond the jokes and java, one hot debate never went away: Joey and Rachel—yay or no way?
While the cast and creators might’ve been firmly Team Nope, some of us (raises hand proudly) totally shipped Joey and Rachel. Sure, Ross got the nostalgic ending, but did it really lobsters? Because for a brief moment, Joey and Rach? Total vibe.
Let’s just say… if you know, you know. And if you don’t? We were on a break.

If you ever felt Hugh Laurie’s ingenious show, House M.D., was a medical term-heavy show, you might not be incorrect. Yet, the Fox show revolutionized the scope of medical drama with its lucid description of some of the most critical medical terms. One among them is ‘male pseudo hermaphroditism.’
House M.D., after premiering in 2004, revolved around the daily challenges of Dr. Gregory House (Laurie) along with his subordinates in an episodic manner. While the show followed a fairly simple pattern of a patient coming with a mysterious syndrome before being misdiagnosed by House and his “lackeys.” Later, at the end of the episodes, however, Dr. House, like a true genius, wrapped up the cases after finding the disease.
In one such instance in the second season, S2 Episode 13, titled ‘Skin Deep’, House and his associates traversed the bewildering territory of a medical anomaly. As their supermodel patient grappled with the struggle of gender identity,...

Every Friends fan remembers how exciting and surprising it was to see Monica pop up from under the sheets in Chandler’s room in London. The Season 4 finale was all about Ross and Rachel’s unrequited love as the former geared up for his wedding with Emily. But this new couple came out of nowhere. Well, not exactly nowhere.
Fans have seen compilations of Chandler offering to make a baby with Monica in Season 1, and Monica going the extra mile to help Chandler shed a few extra pounds. However, the seeds of their romance were sown in a deleted scene back in the first season. The deleted scene shows Monica seeing that Chandler is more than what meets the eye.
Monica was obsessed with Chandler even before their coupling in Friends season 5 Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry in F.R.I.E.N.D.S. | Credits: NBC
