‘Chambers’ Review: Uma Thurman Deserves Better Than This Bloated Netflix Dud
“Chambers” marks the most slow-moving, bloated, and boring Netflix mystery since “Gypsy” — remember “Gypsy”? The psychological thriller in which Naomi Watts’ wayward therapist gets a little too involved with her patients? Needless to say, it’s better if you don’t, but at least anyone who does remember now knows what’s coming if they’re tempted to try another would-be thriller starring an Oscar-nominated actress making her first big move to serialized TV.

At least Uma Thurman isn’t the star of “Chambers.” That duty falls to the able newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose, a naturalistic performer who believably and endearingly dials things down in service of creator Leah Rachel’s elongated pacing. The only problem is this mystical series needs to get turnt, as the kids say. (I think? Who knows?) So grounded it’s stagnant, “Chambers” wastes a few talented performers as well as a great opportunity to...

Review: Chambers is An Inspired Thriller that Goes Off the Rails
Chambers is a brand new horror series heading to Netflix, and while it has a surprisingly strong start, it tails off significantly by the conclusion.

The main issue plaguing the show from the get-go is that it spends too much time focusing on the less intriguing storylines, before going downright bananas in the final batch of episodes.

Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn are the most well-known in a cast of mostly newcomers in a tale about a teenager who receives a new heart and starts to take on characteristics of the person who died and gave up the heart.

Goldwyn and Thurman play husband and wife Nancy and Ben Lefevre. They are consumed with grief after the sudden death of their daughter, Becky.

Without taking too much time to think about her passing, they have an immense decision...

Jonny Rios Shares His Excitement Over His Netflix Series Chambers
Chambers is coming to Netflix on Friday, April 26, 2019. It's part coming of age story, part family drama, and part horror, so as usual, everyone in your family (who is of age) will find something to like about it.

Chambers focuses on a young woman named Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) who has her life upended when she suffers a near-fatal heart attack while still in high school.

Jonny Rios plays Ravi, a young man to whom Sasha finds herself mysteriously drawn to in ways she cannot fully understand. Rios was excellent in the role, his first, and shared some of his time with us to chat about the experience.

He's quite impressive and has a lovely attitude, so I hope you enjoy reading through parts of our conversation.

What can you tell me about your reaction when you first read the Chambers script?

Yeah, when I first got the script for Chambers,...

‘Chambers’ Trailer: A Heart Transplant Goes Horribly Wrong in Netflix Horror Series
Yes, the new Netflix series “Chambers” centers on Sasha, a young woman (Sivan Alyra Rose) who begins to see visions of another existence after she receives a life-changing heart transplant. Uma Thurman co-stars as the mother of the dead teenager whose heart was donated and whose memories seem to be seeping into the present.

But let’s talk about one particularly horrifying shot in this trailer that Netflix put out on Wednesday. The image of Tony Goldwyn, playing a grieving father, heavy breathing in some sort of minimalist interior decor nightmare is an indication that this show is not messing around. (The multiple images of young teenage girls bleeding from their mouths might be another.)

To paraphrase the great American poet Joey Tribbiani, these people appear to be having some issues with their full-sized aortic pumps. Sure, everyone processes loss in different ways, but this hints that not everyone is...

Chambers: Release Date, Trailer, and Details for Uma Thurman Netflix Series
Joseph Baxter Apr 10, 2019

Uma Thurman will headline Chambers, a supernatural-ish Netflix television drama.

Uma Thurman is headlining Chambers, a Netflix TV series that will manifest as a 10-episode hourlong offering with supernatural themes.

Netflix gave the project a straight-to-series order back in January 2018. It is the creation of writer Leah Rachel, an actress who's been juggling creative duties, having written for the 2012 TV series, Audrey, and directed a few short films. Rachel will serve as co-showrunner with Akela Cooper, who wields more experience in that department, having written and produced shows such as Luke Cage, American Horror Story, The 100 and Grimm.

Chambers will depict the story of a young heart attack survivor whose life was saved by a heart transplant. However, she starts to raise crucial questions about her new heart, eventually learning the terrible truth about the donor’s death. Eventually, things take a supernatural turn for the...
