Duran Duran Reimagine “New Moon On Monday” on New Single “New Moon (Dark Phase)”: Stream
Image
According to Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes, the band “unlocked an unexpected box of curiosity and creativity” when they started making their 2023 album, Danse Macabre. Now, the latest product of that newfound energy has arrived: “New Moon (Dark Phase),” a reimagined version of their 1984 song “New Moon On Monday.”

Released as a single ahead of the upcoming deluxe re-release of Danse Macabre, “New Moon (Dark Phase)” swaps out the original’s pulsing ‘80s synths with a more ethereal, modern arrangement, featuring contributions from former band member, Andy Taylor. Throughout, vocalist Simon Le Bon carries the melody, gracefully slipping into his upper register on the verses and delivering the chorus’ catchy hook.

Dolly Parton Throws a Karaoke Party With a Bonkers Guest List on ‘Rockstar’
Image
Dolly Parton is arguably the most beloved living American. How many people are alive today because Dolly told them to get the Covid vaccine back in early 2021? Of course, she’s a paragon of country music, but her reach goes far beyond Nashville, from the disco pop of her working-woman masterpiece “9 to 5” to the soft-rock bliss of her classic Kenny Rogers duet “Islands in the Stream.” And the crossover love has been reflected back; one of the most popular cover songs of all time is Whitney Houston’s...

Duran Duran Release New Album Danse Macabre: Stream
Image
Duran Duran are getting into the Halloween spirit with Danse Macabre, a witchy new album featuring a mix of new songs and covers of classics by Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, and more. Check it out below via Apple Music or Spotify.

The new wave legends’ 16th studio album was inspired by a “crazy” Halloween show Duran Duran put on last year. Rather than going full “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” however, Danse Macabre doesn’t take itself too seriously. “It’s supposed to be fun!” singer Simon Le Bon explained in a statement.

That said, original compositions like its title track — which we named Song of the Week — coexist alongside covers of Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend,” Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer,” and The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black.” The project also features some special guests, including former guitarist Andy Taylor and legendary artist Nile Rodgers on the song “Black Moonlight.

Duran Duran Team with Andy Taylor and Nile Rodgers on New Song “Black Moonlight”: Stream
Image
Duran Duran want to make you dance under the “Black Moonlight,” another spooky preview from their upcoming Halloween-themed album, Danse Macabre. Stream it below.

Thanks to a catchy riff from Nile Rodgers (and an assist from former member Andy Taylor), “Black Moonlight” is less ominous and gothic than the previous single (and Song of the Week) “Danse Macabre,” but the new track still has eerie synths and some playful lyrics about “dark magic” and dancing “under the dead of night.”

“Nile Rogers is a force of nature. When we get into a room, we start playing, and magic happens,” Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes said in a statement. “Nile always says that Chic is his first band, and Duran Duran is his second. Thematically, I personally prefer the moon to the sun. Simon took the idea and ran with it.”

Simon Le Bon added, “‘Black Moonlight’ is this classic Duran Duran-Nile Rodgers collaboration.

Duran Duran Share Nile Rodgers-Featuring ‘Black Moonlight’ From Halloween-Inspired LP
Image
Duran Duran have shared their funky new song “Black Moonlight,” one of the band’s three originals from their upcoming Halloween-inspired, largely covers album Danse Macabre.

For the track, Duran Duran reunited with longtime collaborator Nile Rodgers, who previously produced the band’s 1986 LP Notorious, in addition to other contributions throughout the decades.

“‘Black Moonlight’ is this classic Duran Duran-Nile Rodgers collaboration,” Simon Le Bon said in a statement. “When Nile started playing his guitar in the studio, he really inspired everyone with his riff, and the song just kind of wrote itself.

Duran Duran’s ‘Danse Macabre’ Video Is a Graveyard Smash
Image
Duran Duran throw a virtual monsters’ ball in their video for “Danse Macabre,” the title track of their upcoming album, which comes out just before Halloween on Oct. 27. The music features the return of the band’s former guitarist, Warren Cuccurullo, since he left the group in 2001.

The animated clip, for which creative director Linc Gasking, used AI technology, shows Dracula, Pennywise, Nosferatu, and other baddies dancing and monster-mashing as the members of Duran Duran, who, of course, look undead here, perform the spooky song. “Get dirty up on a danse macabre,...

‘The Brighton Miracle,’ With Temuera Morrison as Giant Killing Rugby Coach Eddie Jones, Picked Up by Blue Sky Media (Exclusive)
Image
The Japan rugby union team on Sunday thrashed tournament newcomers Chile 42-12 on the first weekend of the freshly kicked-off Rugby World Cup. But in 2015, Japan were the underdogs and yet pulled off a surprise result against rugby titans South Africa.

In the first ever match between the two nations Japan won 34-32, due to an 80th minute try.

“The Brighton Miracle,” a docu-drama capturing and re-constructing that shock match, has been picked up by Blue Sky Media. The film was produced by Syn Entertainment and the rights outside of Japan were brokered by producer’s rep Summer & Co.

The film was written and directed by Max Mannix. Mannix, himself a former professional rugby player, lived more than a decade in Japan and wrote the Kurosawa Kiyoshi-directed “Tokyo Sonata,” which debuted in Cannes Un Certain Regard in 2008.

“The Brighton Miracle” follows Eddie Jones, played in re-enactments by New Zealand actor...

Andy Taylor Has a New Lease on Life — and He’ll Never Say Never to Touring With Duran Duran
Image
Andy Taylor thought that Nov. 5, 2022 was going to be one of the greatest nights of his life. After years of waiting, Duran Duran were finally entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The guitarist had co-founded the band back in 1980 and co-wrote many of their biggest songs, including “Rio” and “Hungry Like the Wolf,” but he hadn’t shared a stage with them since 2006, when old tensions resurfaced during the creation of their aborted album Reportage and they parted ways.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony was supposed to...

Duran Duran Announce Halloween-Themed Album Danse Macabre, Share Spooky Title Track: Stream
Image
Duran Duran have announced the release of their 16th studio album, Danse Macabre, due out on October 27th via Tape Modern/BMG. With Halloween as its “key theme,” the album not only features a batch of new songs, but also a number of fun guests and several covers, including tunes by Billie Eilish, Talking Heads, The Rolling Stones, and more.

Along with the album announcement, the band has also shared the record’s title track, “Danse Macabre,” as a lead single, with a fittingly spooky video in tow. Watch the new music video below.

According to the press release, Danse Macabre and its Halloween theme were inspired by Duran Duran’s 2022 Halloween show, in which they employed “glorious gothic visuals” and a number of fun cover songs to create a “dark soundtrack of horror and humor.” As the band’s Nick Rhodes explained: “That evening inspired us to explore further and to make an album,...

Duran Duran Guitarist Andy Taylor Taking New Cancer Medication That Could Give Him 5 More Years Of Life
Image
Duran Duran’s guitarist Andy Taylor shared that the new cancer medication he is taking will give him an extra five years.

Taylor revealed that he was contacted by the Cancer Awareness Trust co-founder Prof. Sir Chris Evans about this new medicine. This occurred shortly after Taylor’s fellow band member Simon Le Bon revealed his diagnosis of stage four prostate cancer during Duran Duran’s induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.

This meditation is life-changing for Taylor who revealed, “The great irony is I missed the biggest night of my life and within a week I was in touch with an amazing fellow called Sir Chris Evans, who is the most incredible scientist. He did my genomics, looked at it, and said, There’s a treatment that can save you,” he told BBC Breakfast.

Before this event, Taylor believed that in terms of his well-being,...

Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor Claims New Drug Is Helping Him Arrest Stage 4 Cancer
Image
Founding Duran Duran member and guitarist Andy Taylor claims a new drug treatment is working in his battle with Stage 4 prostate cancer.

In a BBC interview, Taylor said the drug – Lutetium-177 – has extended his life “for five years.”

The 62-year-old Taylor first was diagnosed with the disease in 2018. He went public with the information last November.

After that, a scientist suggested nuclear medicine treatment with Lutetium-177, which reportedly targets cancer cells.

“It can’t see healthy cells,” Taylor told BBC News. He said his first round of treatments was six weeks ago. “It kills stage four cancer in your bones. And so what it’s effectively done is extend my life for five years.”

The drug received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration in March 2022 and has “proven to significantly improve prostate cancer survival rates and quality of life, as well as extend the time it takes for the disease to progress,...

The dual Country Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member’s long-awaited rock project Rockstar will bow Nov. 17 and includes more than 40 guests across its 30 tracks.

The Tracklist for Dolly Parton’s Rock Album is a Sight to Behold
Image
Upon her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, Dolly Parton announced her intention to record a rock album. “If I’m gonna be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I’m gonna have to earn it,” she said at the time.

The end result, aptly titled Rockstar, will arrive on November 17th via her own Butterfly Records in conjunction with Big Machine Label Group.

Among the notable covers, Sting accompanies Parton on The Police’s “Every Breath You Take,...
