The verdict in Kevin Spacey’s London sexual assault trial is here. The actor has been found not guilty and cleared of all nine charges against him.

The verdict was rendered after over 48 hours of deliberation. BBC News reports that the actor appeared emotional upon being acquitted.

Spacey faced sexual and indecent assault charges from four men over incidents alleged to have occurred between 2004 and 2013 when the actor was the director of London’s famed Old Vic Theatre.

When the Crown Prosecution Service brought charges against Spacey in 2022 it raised the specter of whether the actor would be willing to travel to London to face them. If he had been unwilling, an extradition would have had to be arranged. Instead, Spacey voluntarily journeyed to London to be formally charged and has appeared every day at the Southwark Crown Court on London’s South Bank as the trial unfolded.

One of the highest-profile entertainment biz legal cases ever has been playing out in a London courtroom over the past month, and Deadline has been following every step of the way.

The jury has just retired in the trial of Kevin Spacey, in which the 63-year-old Hollywood star is accused of nine sexual offenses concerning four men. The trial has generated global headlines, set the rumor mill spinning and even featured one of the world’s most famous musicians in the dock (albeit digitally).

Spacey denies all charges and has vehemently reiterated his innocence throughout. He first spent days listening to testimony against him for acts committed between 2001 and 2013 before defending himself for 48 hours, along with several star witnesses, who were called on either as character references or to corroborate timelines.

The jury in the sex offenses trial of Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has been sent out to begin its deliberations.

The 63-year-old Hollywood star denies nine charges including sexual assault, which are alleged to have been committed between 2001 and 2013.

Mr Justice Wall sent the jury out to consider its verdicts on Monday at 12.45 p.m. GMT (3.45 a.m. Pt).

Over the course of the high-profile trial at Southwark Crown Court, each of Spacey’s four accusers have given evidence, variously describing him as a “vile sexual predator,” “slippery” and “atrocious, despicable, disgusting.”

Jurors have been told of alleged “aggressive” crotch grabs against three men, while a fourth complainant accused the defendant of having drugged him and performed a sex act on him while he was asleep at his flat.

Meanwhile, the four indecent assault charges on the indictment, which were alternative counts, were struck off by the judge, which was due to a “legal technicality” and not as a result of the prosecution abandoning any allegation.

Oscar-winning actor Spacey’s accusers are “no longer prepared to be the secret keeper for someone who treated them so badly,” Southwark Crown Court heard.

In the closing speech, prosecutor Christine Agnew Kc told jurors the case involves an “enormous power imbalance” and a man who is “used to getting his own way” taking advantage of that.

She questioned the two-time Academy Award winner’s claim that his accusers were “motivated by money” and suggested the trial was a result of his “aggressive, oppressive and intimidatory behaviour.”

Kevin Spacey was “like another son” to late Glengarry Glen Ross co-star Jack Lemmon, a court heard today at the American Beauty actor’s UK sex offenses trial.

During a series of 10 character references for the defense, Spacey became emotional as he reacted to the words from the likes of Chris Lemmon and House and Dead Poet’s Society star Robert Sean Leonard.

Lemmon, a stage actor who last year played his father in Blonde, said his dad saw Spacey as family and “so became like a brother to me.”

Spacey and Jack Lemmon appeared together in Glengarry Glen Ross, David Mamet’s 1992 adaptation of his play of the same name about a group of failing real estate agents who are told only the top two sellers will keep their jobs.

Ana de Armas had zero difficulty finding streams of research to play Marilyn Monroe in Blonde. But learning what drove Norma Jean, the delicate and insecure woman behind the public persona, was an entirely different challenge.

“It was important to find the emotional truth in this character,” she said Saturday at Deadline’s The Contenders Film: Los Angeles. “One of the biggest themes in this movie is the private and public self. Norma Jean was completely unseen. I wanted to capture the essence of that woman, to find the human underneath. Blonde, the Marilyn Monroe biopic, premiered on Netflix and it took the second spot on the charts. The Ana de Armas-starring movie got an 11-minute standing ovation when it was screened at the Venice Film Festival.

Despite glowing reviews for Blonde, the film directed by Andrew Dominik didn’t debut at the top of the streaming service’s chart. The biopic was watched for 37,340,000 hours, according to Netflix’s Global Top 10 chart.

Netflix has released some striking new images of Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe in Netflix’s Blonde, which will debut at the Venice Film Festival.

Among the images revealed exclusively in Vanity Fair are one of de Armas with Adrien Brody, who portrays her husband Arthur Miller in the buzzed about feature.

Special makeup supremo Robert Kurtzman directs this 1997 homage to 1980s horror, and while its gross-out effects are impressive, the plot, characters and script leave much to be desired.

Wishmaster opens in 12th century Persia, and a royal party in chaos: people are mutating, skinning themselves, turning inside out, that sort of thing. It seems the king has made a deal with a Djinn, a mythical demon who will grant three wishes. On the third wish, a portal will open and the Djinn (plural) will be unleashed and take over the world of men. Or something. Thankfully, this Djinn is banished thanks to an opal made of blood.

Paramount has released a 2 disc special edition of the 1968 comedy classic The Odd Couple as part of the studio's Centennial Collection. The film retains all of its initial appeal, despite the fact that virtually every baby boomer has committed the scenes and dialogue to memory. Although most people regard this as the first historic pairing of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, in fact, that occurred with Billy Wilder's 1965 gem The Fortune Cookie which saw Matthau winning the Oscar for supporting actor. The genius behind the story, of course, is Neil Simon, who adapted his smash hit Broadway play for the film. The part of Felix Unger was originally played on Broadway by the great Art Carney, but Lemmon was a much hotter box-office property and got the role in the feature film. There are quite a few practical reasons why so many films from the slasher genre's golden era (late '70s, early '80s) are set in the deep woods: the locations are usually just a matter of finding a suitably creepy local park, film permits usually aren't a concern, and lighting & camera setups are often easier to accomplish than they would on interior locations or sets. But for my money, the backwoods make for some of the creepiest environments for survival horror and suspense, ever since the 1971 classic Deliverance had audiences squealing like pigs. By 1981, Jeff Lieberman had already established himself as a director of unique and entertaining horror films; his bizarre conspiracy thriller Blue Sunshine is a cult classic today, and his gruesome worm-invasion flick Squirm established his skill with queasy horror in a rural setting. With other companies making waves releasing cult horror films on Blu-ray, it's no surprise Code Red DVD is getting in on the trend by bringing Nail Gun Massacre, Just Before Dawn, and The Electric Chair to hi-def.

The definition of a slasher film varies depending on who you ask, but in general, it contains several specific traits that feed into the genre’s formula. Author Vera Dika rather strictly defines the sub-genre in her book Games of Terror by only including films made between 1978 and 1984. In other words, she saw it as a movement. When someone describes Brick, they don’t define it as a noir, but instead neo-noir . In other words, it’s a modern motion picture that prominently utilizes elements of film noir, but with updated themes, content, style, visual elements or media that were absent in those from the 1940s and 1950s. So does one consider Scream a slasher film or a neo-slasher, or simply put, a modern slasher?

Some consider Thirteen Women to be the earliest slasher – released all the way back in 1932. Personally I think that is rubbish. Thirteen Women is more like Desperate Housewives on sedatives.

Oscar-winning actor Cliff Robertson has been laid to rest in a private ceremony in Long Island, New York.

The star died of natural causes last weekend, just one day after his 88th birthday.

Following news of his death, actor Rob Lowe paid tribute to Robertson, who played his dad in 1983 movie Class, writing on Twitter.com, "Goodbye to my father in 'Class', the great Oscar winner Cliff Robertson. Lovely man, fantastic actor and full of... Class."

On Friday, around 100 close friends and family gathered at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in East Hampton to remember the veteran star.

Contrary to popular belief, not all movie stars’ offspring had dysfunctional lives filled with drug abuse, domestic violence and self-destruction. Some children of stars have even gone on to live “normal” lives outside of La-la land, and hold their famous parents in high esteem. Take the case of Chris Lemmon. Born June 22, 1954 in L.A., Chris is the son of two-time Oscar winning actor Jack Lemmon and actress Cynthia Stone. Although his parents divorced when he was young, Chris remained close to both throughout their lives and penned a tribute to his father, (who passed in 2001) called A Twist of Lemmon in 2006, published by Algonquin Books.

The first DVD box set devoted to the beloved late actor Jack Lemmon isn't quite what his son, Chris Lemmon, originally envisioned.

"I thought it would include his gems with Billy Wilder," says Lemmon, who was approached by Sony, the owners of Columbia Pictures, his father's home studio in the 1950s and '60s.

"But I quickly learned that studios -- MGM owns most of the Wilder pictures -- aren't interested in collaborating," he says. "And Sony wanted to focus on his lesser-known films from Columbia.

Superlative thriller was oddly ignored by critics and audiences alike, but expertly blends intelligence (courtesy screenwriter Eric Warren Singer’s masterfully-crafted script) and full-throttle action (director Tom Tykwer stages one of the great film shoot-outs in New York’s iconic Guggenheim Museum), making this dynamite thriller reminiscent of the best work from masters such as John Frankenheimer and Robert Aldrich. The Odd Couple really is a great movie. Some of its initial themes of suicide and heartbreak really stand the test of time, and while the humor is altogether far too dry and expositional for most modern tastes, there are still laughs to be had. But unfortunately, as a whole the movie hasn’t dated well.

Unlike more dramatic films of the same era, the film suffers greatly when viewed from a modern perspective. The slow pacing of the comedy and the squeaky-clean manner the would-be vulgar characters sets it firmly in a time unknown to the younger generation. While other, more socially and politically pointed films of the 1960s have perhaps only become more relevant, The Odd Couple has only been hurt by the passage of time. It doesn’t show how comedy has evolved over the years, as it’s cemented so distinctly in a bygone era, and...
