Directed by Drew Goddard from a screenplay he wrote with producer Joss Whedon, The Cabin in the Woods has the following synopsis: When five college friends arrive at a remote forest cabin for a little vacation, little do they expect the horrors that await them. Two scientists are manipulating the ghoulish goings-on, but even as the body count rises, there is yet more at work than meets the eye. Legendary country star Dolly Parton was an uncredited executive producer on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series, as the show came from her production company Sandollar Productions, which she co-founded with her former manager, Sandy Gallin. So if there’s anyone who should have an idea of what’s going on with the Buffy reboot that was announced some years back, it’s Dolly – and she said it’s still in the works.
Five and a half years have gone by since it was announced that a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in development with Monica Owusu-Breen, co-creator of the TV show Midnight, Texas, writing, executive producing, and serving as showrunner. It was said that the new show would be “contemporary, building on the mythology of the original”. Alyson Hannigan was brilliant in the role of Willow Rosenberg on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series, which ran for a total of seven seasons and 144 episodes, beginning in 1997 and wrapping up in 2003… But she didn’t join the show until the pilot was reshot, replacing the previously cast Riff Regan as Willow. And during an interview with Shut Up Evan, Melanie Lynskey confirmed that she was also a potential Willow.
Interviewer Evan Ross Katz had been told by Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar that the show’s creator Joss Whedon had envisioned Lynskey (only known from Heavenly Creatures at the time) as Willow when he was writing the pilot script, but Lynskey, who is from New Zealand, couldn’t audition because there was an issue with her visa. Katz asked Lynskey about that and she replied, “It is basically true. It was kind of a visa issue, but...

To many Buffy, the Vampire Slayer fans, season 6 was a letdown. After Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) sacrificed herself to defeat Glory at the end of season 5, her return left some fans wanting. The show also moved from The WB to Upn for season 6 and 7, but even decades later, fans still criticize season 6.

They’re wrong. Buffy, the Vampire Slayer Season 6 actually rules and here are four reasons why.
‘Buffy, the Vampire Slayer’ Season 6 villains are as relevant as ever
Season 6 saw Buffy, the vampire slayer go up against the Trio. Warren (Adam Busch), Jonathan (Danny Strong), and Andrew (Tom Lenk) had all appeared in previous seasons of the show. At the beginning of season 6, they decide to take over Sunnydale. The joke was that they were incompetent nerds dabbling in magic, but that made them dangerous.

We are living in an age of TV show revivals. By the end of this month, Night Court will even be back on the air. But don’t get your hopes up for a revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that would bring Sarah Michelle Gellar back in the title role. While speaking with SFX Magazine (via Movieweb), Gellar said she wouldn’t want to play Buffy ever again.
When asked if she’s interested in reprising the role, Gellar answered, “I’m not. I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done. We wrapped that up. I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment. I love the way the show was left: ‘Every girl who has the power can have the power.’ It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power.

Four years have passed since it was announced that a reboot of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series was in the works with Monica Owusu-Breen, co-creator of the TV show Midnight, Texas, writing, executive producing, and serving as showrunner. And since four years have gone by without any further word on the reboot, a lot of fans have probably forgotten that announcement had even happened. (I sure did.) So it’s no surprise to hear from Owusu-Breen’s fellow executive producer Gail Berman (via TV Line) that the reboot is “on pause”.
After the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot was announced, Owusu-Breen sent out the following statement:
For some genre writers it’s Star Wars.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my Star Wars.
Before I became a writer, I was a fan. For seven seasons, I watched Buffy Summers grow up, find love, kill that love. I watched her fight,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched the Season 1 finale of “American Horror Stories,” “Game Over,” streaming now on FX on Hulu.
The final episode of “American Horror Stories” Season 1 took viewers back to where the season (and the franchise) started — the Murder House — but in a very tongue-in-cheek way.
The episode started off focusing on two murder buffs who were self-proclaimed “huge ‘American Horror Story’ fans” — so, in the world of “American Horror Stories,” “American Horror Story” exists as a TV show. The couple met at Comic-Con where Dylan (Adam Hagenbuch) was dressed as Son of Bloody Face and Connie (Noah Cyrus) was dressed as Sister Jude, both from “Asylum.” Also, did you notice their names are Dylan and Connie, a la the first names of the actors who played Ben and Vivien Harmon, Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton, in Season 1 of “Horror Story”?

In the final installment of American Horror Stories‘ first Season, the sprawling reach of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s original franchise comes to the gaming world.
In “Game Over,” the meta season ender, all roads lead back to the Murder House, which once again entices a couple looking to start a new chapter. Noah Cyrus’s Connie and Adam Hagenbuch’s Dylan are a couple of thrill-seekers and self-proclaimed “huge American Horror Story fans” who booked a stay at the newly-converted Airbnb. After settling in, they venture around the house.
The opening scene is rife with callbacks to the original series and to the first chapters of American Horror Stories itself.

American Horror Stories kicked off at the Murder House...
And it will also end there.
Ryan Murphy confirmed the cast for American Horror Stories Season 1 Episode 7 -- the season finale -- on Tuesday, and this trip to the Murder House will include some familiar faces.
Dylan McDermott and Jamie Brewer are reprising their roles as Dr. Ben Harmon and Adelaide “Addie” Langdon, respectively.
This marks the first time Brewer has played the character since the freshman season.
McDermott played Ben back in an episode of AHS: Apocalypse in 2018, but still, it's nice to know some of these characters are coming back.
Part of the issue with the first two episodes of the series was that none of the Murder House ghosts made an appearance, rendering the episodes to be a bit too farfetched.
Reprising their roles from earlier in the season are Merrin Dungey as Dr. Andi Grant, Sierra McCormick as Scarlett,...

Barb and Star do indeed go to Vista Del Mar in “Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” but viewers are advised to put their maps away and let the movie follow its own deranged path. A goofy and absurdist comedy in which anything can happen, and it usually will, Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo’s long-awaited follow-up to the 2011 hit “Bridesmaids” absolutely plays by its own rules.
Whether or not that’s a successful strategy will very much depend on the viewer’s state of mind and opinions about comedy, but in an era where so many films seem to emerge from the same bland assembly line, there’s something exciting about a movie that plays to sharply divided reactions, even if that movie doesn’t hit 100% of the time. After her efforts to flip her home state blue for the 2020 presidential election paid off last week, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams turned her attention to flipping a different group: “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fans who think that Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy Summers belonged with Angel (David Boreanaz), not Spike (James Marsters). And it looks like she at least got the votes of the “Buffy” cast and creator Joss Whedon himself.
“To be fair, Angel was the right boyfriend for Buffy coming into her power. Spike was the right man to be with as she became the power,” Abrams tweeted Monday, after being labeled a Spike shipper by one Twitter user.
That hot take didn’t go over well with everyone on Twitter, but it did get heavily endorse by Whedon and co. over the last few days.
“I Agree! (during squee),” the “Buffy” creator tweeted.
“I’ll vote yes to that!

Exclusive: The fourth and final season of Kit Williamson’s Emmy-nominated Lgbtq series Eastsiders will be available on Netflix on December 1.
Thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $140,000 from fans, Eastsiders, a co-production with Wolfe Video, will be back with a fourth season that picks up with the Silver Lake gang one year later. Executive produced by Williamson and his husband John Halbach, who also star, the six-episode Season 4 tackles heavy, adult-world questions like how do two human beings make love last? What does commitment really look like in a long-term relationship? And what unique challenges does a “gay marriage” present?
Cal (Williamson) and Thom (Van Hansis) are back home from Season 3’s cross-country road trip, still a couple but wondering if they are really just best friends with benefits. Douglas (Willam Belli) and Quincy (Stephen Guarino) are engaged to be married, but with very different ideas about what a gay wedding should be.

The 2018 E! People's Choice Awards might be over, but thanks to Busy Tonight we can still relive some of its greatest fashion moments. During Sunday's live broadcast of Busy Tonight, the show's host, Busy Philipps, employed her friend and social media fashion king, Tom Lenk to recreate three looks from the PCAs red carpet using only household items. Our favorite part of the episode however might be when Busy Philipps invited her friend Tom Lenk, who is known for his hilarious dress recreations on social media, to make three different fashions based on the PCAs red carpet looks...

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum Danny Strong is a true superstar — unlike his Joss Whedon-created alter ego, Jonathan Levinson, who could only pull off that level of success in Hollywood if he cast another spell.
But while the Emmy winner and “Empire” co-creator has his hands full with his own TV series nowadays, Strong told TheWrap during the Television Critics Association press tour he would be happy to reprise his role for the recently-announced reboot.
“I would appear on it as Jonathan if they wanted Jonathan,” Strong told TheWrap, while promoting his upcoming Fox drama “Proven Innocent.” “Poor, poor, Jonathan. I don’t think Jonathan made it, though. So it might be tricky.”

“Well, there's nobody who didn't have a horrible high school experience except for, like, one guy I met once,” Joss Whedon said while sitting down with Et on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997.
At the time, the show was in production on its second season, with everyone -- including stars Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy), David Boreanaz (Angel) and Alyson Hannigan (Willow) -- returning to work on a bona fide hit for The WB. Whedon summed up his own high school experience as “constant humiliation and rejection,” an apt time period for a TV horror series. (Note: This was probably before they ever met, but I still like to believe the “one guy” he was referring to is Nathan Fillion.)
“I thought it would make a good show,” Whedon said. “I thought, I'll make a show about high school that's a horror movie just as my high school was, and that's...

With just over two weeks until Election Day, Joss Whedon has released the latest video in his Save the Day series. “The Youth” stars Bill Hader, Nicole Byer (“Loosely Exactly Nicole”) and Tom Lenk (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”). Watch it below.

Byer introduces herself as both a great actress and a millennial, which makes her “lazy and self-involved” — not that it’s stopping her from voting. Hader plays the director of her get-out-the-vote PSA, which panders to “the youth” via lame puns and broad attempts at being inclusive. Hader explains that, though they had young writers on staff, none of them showed up because they didn’t think it was important.

Joss Whedon is officially back on twitter and he's brought The Avengers and a few other friends along to encourage you to Save the Day. The creator exited Twitter in May of 2015, explaining his reasoning to Buzzfeed at the time, “I just thought, wait a minute, if I’m going to start writing again, I have to go to the quiet place and this is the least quiet place I’ve ever been in my life.” Hey! Did I miss anything? Lol jk the world is on fire ???? here's a thing I made https://t.co/g1SE45Rkrv — Joss Whedon (@joss) September 21, 2016 Now tweeting under simply @Joss (his old URL is being used by, um, someone else), The Avengers director has returned with a special message. TV shows about witches have had mixed success. Some have been ratings hits and have run for years while others have been cancelled after one season. How will Witches of East End perform for Lifetime? We'll have to wait and see.
Witches of East End revolves around the Beauchamps, a family of female witches in a seaside town. The cast includes Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Rachel Boston, Eric Winter, Daniel Di Tomasso, Mädchen Amick, Virginia Madsen, Tom Lenk, and Jason George.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually on Tuesdays.
Update: The show has been renewed for a second season.
Final season averages: 0.6 rating in...

Don’T Tease Us, Agnetha!
Angela Lansbury is not a fan of the NBC remake of Murder, She Wrote. “I think it’s a mistake to call it Murder, She Wrote, because Murder, She Wrote will always be about a Cabot Cove and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person. … So I’m sorry that they have to use the title Murder, She Wrote, even though they have access to it and it’s their right.”

I’ve been down with what is either an incredibly horrible cold or what technically would be considered a mild flu since last Tuesday, although “mild” is definitely not in the eyes of the sufferer – achy and sore, exhausted just doing nothing but unable to sleep enough to wake up feeling like I slept, coughing up disgusting stuff from inside my chest, a nose that is either stuffed or running depending on the time of day, alternately hungry and nauseous in the same minute…
Anyway, my brain is definitely not completely “there” this week, but here are some thoughts.
So far not terrifically excited by Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. I thought the pilot episode was basically meh and if it wasn’t for the involvement of the combined powerhouse of the McU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Joss Whedon it would never have been picked up by ABC, much less been given a full season of episodes.

★★★★☆ A parade of familiar faces from the television work of Joss Whedon - including the long-running success Buffy the Vampire Slayer, its patchy spin-off Angel, the short-lived Firefly and the controversial Dollhouse - fill out the cast of Whedon's big screen adaptation of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Shot in just two weeks between the completion of principal photography and the start of post-production on Avengers Assemble (2012), Whedon's interpretation of the story is an intimate take on the material, falling somewhere between a screwball comedy and a stylish film noir.
Much Ado concerns the relationships of two distinct couples: the young pair Claudio (Fran Kranz) and Hero (Jillian Morgese) and the sharp-tongued Beatrice (Amy Acker) and Benedick (Alexis Denisof). As the evil Don John (Sean Maher) schemes to keep the former from each other, Beatrice and Benedick wage a "merry war" that consists mostly of putting each other down with the utmost wit.

In a few weeks, the final season of How I Met Your Mother will be underway and the most long-winded romance of the last ten years will come to a close when Ted Mosby reveals to his children just how he came to meet the one they call mum. Putting aside the small fact that there is something just a bit weird about your dad sitting you down to recount the nine-year tale of all the women he ever slept with (this was acknowledged in the very funny promo for season nine), How I Met Your Mother has grown from some humble beginnings to one of America’s leading, mainstream sitcoms. As a Friends-style sitcom, it isn’t the sort of...
