Megan Boone was last seen as Elizabeth Keen in The Blacklist's season 8 finale, and since she was so prominent, many viewers wondered why she left before the final two chapters of the show. First appearing in The Blacklist's pilot, Boone's Elizabeth Keen was among the series' primary characters. Often referred to as Liz, Keen was portrayed as a talented FBI profiler whose storyline went through many significant changes as she started unraveling the mysteries of her past and its connections with criminal mastermind Raymond "Red" Reddington.
As one of The Blacklist's main characters, Elizabeth plays a significant role in driving many primary storylines of the long-running series. Considering Elizabeth was the main character of The Blacklist throughout the first eight seasons, it is not surprising that audiences may be curious about why Boone departed from the series after sticking with it for so long. However, the...

Zack Snyder is arguably one of the great directors in Hollywood with millions of fans and an equal amount of haters. The director is known for often breaking the rules while making a film.
Snyder is known for breaking rules | Credits: DC Entertainment
Well, not just once but Snyder may have broken the rules of DC Comics and Warner Bros. Pictures twice throughout his brief time in the Dceu. These rule breaks, however, were nothing short of ordinary.
Zack Snyder refused to finish the movie
Not like a cliffhanger ending where nothing gets resolved but the 300 director refused to direct a film that had a satisfying end. This seemed to be the case for one of the most controversial films released: Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Zack Snyder has always been a visionary when it comes to expansive storytelling. His hold over comic book lore and the cinematic medium combined to give the audience and the studios an unprecedented experience that almost launched a rebellion across the globe for the sake of one film.

The five-part Justice League story that he had cooked up for the fans of the grimdark universe was to remain in the shadows, forever festering like an old untreated wound. However, Snyder has managed to outlive and outgrow the controversy and scandal wrought on by the DC Extended Universe.
In the aftermath, the director found himself accepting the possibility that he would never again visit the DC universe. As such, it was an easy decision to spoil the rest of his Justice League story, which was set to complete his five-part Dceu trilogy.

Chicago – There is no better time to take in a stage play that is based in U.S. history, depicting the battle between fact and religion. The old theater chestnut – first mounted in 1955 – is “Inherit the Wind,” now at the Goodman Theatre, completing it’s short run through October 20th. For tickets and more information, click Inherit.
Play Rating: 4.0/5.0
“Inherit the Wind” is a fictionalized account of the infamous Scopes trial of the 1920s, which pitted the theory of teaching evolution against the Bible stories of creation. In the book of the play, the teacher on trial is Bertram Cates (Christopher Lleywyn Ramirez), a put-upon educator in the southern small town of Hillsboro, who is in love with Rachel (Tyler Meredith), the preacher’s daughter. Based on what little we've seen from Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker season 2, James Gunn is wasting no time in expanding the Dcu and creating a world inhabited by superheroes.
A DC fan recently took to social media to share some deep-cut Easter Eggs they hope to see in the Dcu; one of them was Martian Manhunter's obsession with Chocos, DC's take on Oreos.
That prompted Gunn to respond with a real-life version of Chocos, leading to speculation on social media that J'onn J'onzz will soon make his Dcu debut. However, as the filmmaker is currently busy shooting an episode of Peacemaker, we'd bet on these being a prop from that series.
In other words, it might be best not to get too excited. However, that Max series does feel like a fitting place to introduce Martian Manhunter as Detective John Jones! It's worth noting that Chocos were also spotted...

For a while, Zack Snyder was building a cinematic universe for the Netflix streaming service that centered on his zombie movie Army of the Dead. The film was quickly followed by a prequel called Army of Thieves, a sequel called Planet of the Dead was being written, and an anime series called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas was in the works. But Snyder has since shifted his focus over to building a multi-media universe around his Rebel Moon sci-fi movies – and The Wrap has revealed that Netflix “quietly canceled” plans for an Army of the Dead Universe.
In an article on the Rebel Moon films that features interviews with Snyder and his wife and producing partner Deborah Snyder, The Wrap mentions, “Army of the Dead, a movie the Snyders made for Netflix before Rebel Moon, had a similarly ambitious (universe/franchise) plan, with several sequels and spin-offs in the works,...

Spencer Grammer, Harland Williams, Will Friedle, Harry Lennix, Juliana Harkavy and John Dimaggio are among the performers comprising the ensemble voice cast of the animated sci-fi comedy movie Isla Monstro.
Hailing from multimedia company Abyssmal Entertainment, the feature has completed production and launches promotion at San Diego Comic-Con with a booth and a panel taking place Saturday. The project is directed and animated by Steven Shea (Surviving Supercon), who co-wrote the script with James Schrader, and it is currently seeking distribution.
Isla Monstro centers on ne’er-do-well Duke (voiced by Schrader), who falls off a cruise ship and awakens on an abandoned, top secret government island that is rampant with mutants and monsters left over from a failed “super soldier” mission from the 1980s. Duke concocts a scheme to convert the island into a high-class resort getaway with the creatures serving as staff, which does not please the U.S. government.

There is little doubt that Batman is arguably the most iconic superhero featured in the DC Universe. The superhero has been given a range of live-action and animated iterations, and among them, the Bruce Timm creations across the DC Animated Universe stands out for a variety of reasons.

Superman's villains are key to building a DC universe, offering unique perspectives and challenges for the hero. Lex Luthor's intelligence and motivations add depth to his character and influence his interactions with others. General Zod's commanding presence and belief in the superiority of Kryptonians embody a complex and formidable foe for Superman.
Throughout DC movie history, Superman has been featured prominently, and his large cast of villains has grown alongside him. The character and the world he inhabits are so fundamental to any DC worldbuilding that the Dceu and the Dcu have both chosen to begin their universes with Superman features. Considering everything we know about Superman (2025), the character is a strong foundation to build a universe. Still, the hero is only as strong as their greatest villain, so it is important to reflect on the strong writing and performances that have contributed to the understanding of these characters.

Core's filmography includes John Wick and The Amazing Spider-Man, showing his significant impact on set design. Fans of The Blacklist were touched by the dedication card at the end of season 8 in memory of Tobias "Toby" Core.
Fans of The Blacklist may have noticed that there is a particular episode of the series dedicated to a carpenter named Tobias Core. The Blacklist is the thrilling 10-season political thriller series and one of James Spader's best roles in movies or TV. As Raymond "Red" Reddington, Spader is an ex-intelligence agent who has got himself on the FBI's Most Wanted list. In order to avoid prosecution and, for reasons only known to him, Reddington helps the agency find the real villains they should be after, those the US doesn't even know about on Red's "blacklist".

The DC Universe's varied Superman depictions include iconic Fortress of Solitude appearances with differing success levels. Superman's crystal fortress, a tribute to his alien background, serves as a retreat for contemplation, training, and solitude. Modern adaptations like "Man of Steel" miss the mark by utilizing a spaceship rather than the traditional crystalline structure.
Superman's famed Fortress of Solitude has appeared in numerous live-action adaptations across both movies and television, often with varying degrees of success. The DC Universe has featured a litany of Superman depictions, many of which include his icy retreat. The location has even been teased in the Dcu's future, potentially appearing in the 2025 Superman movie.

Superman's killing of General Zod in "Man of Steel" divided viewers, and the same is true for DC comic book writers. Some supporters of the movie cite how Superman has killed before in other media or how Zod's death raised the emotional stakes for Superman. Those who disagree think Man of Steel didn't make the situation feel un-winnable enough without killing or simply don't like the idea of Superman taking a life so early in the Dceu (or at all).
Superman’s controversial killing of General Zod at the end of Man of Steel divided not only Dceu viewers and longtime readers of Superman comics, but also comic creators themselves. The recently-concluded DC Extended Universe began on a divisive note with 2013’s Man of Steel. Man of Steel inadvertently set up the introduction of Martian Manhunter in the Dceu, as an improvisational choice by Harry Lennix hinted at his character's true identity. The theory that General Swanwick was Martian Manhunter gained popularity among fans, prompting Zack Snyder to implement the character's reveal in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Discussions about incorporating Martian Manhunter into the Dceu began during post-production of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
One improvisational choice in 2013's Man of Steel led to the eventual introduction of DC Comics' Martian Manhunter into the Dceu. While David Corenswet will assume the role of Clark Kent, a.k.a. Mario Van Peebles has set his latest film “The Price for Freedom,” which tells the story of civil rights pioneers and NAACP organizers Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore, who were instrumental in advancing the cause for Black voters in Florida.
The Moores’ story is described as “equal parts civil rights history and a personal tale of love, commitment and family,” as it chronicles the activists’ fight for voting rights and the equalization of pay for Black teachers in Florida, as well as their battle against racial violence and lynching.
After opening 64 chapters of the NAACP in the state and registering hundreds of thousands of Black voters, the Moores were murdered on Dec. 25, 1951, when a bomb exploded directly under their bedroom at their home on the outskirts of Mims, Fla.

For a while, Zack Snyder was building a cinematic universe for the Netflix streaming service that centered on his zombie movie Army of the Dead. The film was quickly followed by a prequel called Army of Thieves, a sequel was being written, and an anime series called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas was in the works. But Snyder has since shifted his focus over to building a multi-media universe around his upcoming Netflix sci-fi film Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire (and its follow-up Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver). So Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas sits unfinished… and during an interview with Total Film magazine, Snyder revealed that Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon aren’t entirely separate. In fact, if Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas ever gets completed, we’ll be seeing a Rebel Moon crossover on the show!

The upcoming DC Universe has the opportunity to explore Green Lantern, a major Justice League hero missing from both Justice League and Zack Snyder's Justice League. Green Lantern was the only major Justice League member missing from the Dceu (outside of a very brief flashback appearance by a non-human Lantern). The absence of Green Lantern from the big screen since 2011 makes his reboot in the Dcu easier, as the character won't face the same recasting issues that other DC characters have encountered. The Dcu will fully integrate the Green Lantern mythos, with Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, and John Stewart having prominent roles in upcoming projects.

With Young Love, the TV spin-off of the Oscar-winning short and beloved book, Max enters a new area of the animated family sitcom.
The concept for the show is something creator Matthew A. Cherry tells The Hollywood Reporter was knocking around as a possibility all the way back to the book’s Kickstarter days.
“When we first saw Vashti Harrison’s amazing artwork, we had always thought, ‘What could this be?’” Cherry explains. “A feature idea just felt not big enough, but what always felt like it could make a ton of sense was a series.”
Despite having a young child at the center of its narrative, the streaming show’s 12-episode first season is not for kids. Yet, it’s not quite adult animation, either. The Dceu failed to properly develop and showcase iconic characters like Jimmy Olsen, Martian Manhunter, and Deadshot, resulting in missed opportunities for these fan-favorite heroes and villains. The portrayal of characters such as Jonathan Kent, Cyborg, and Lois Lane in the Dceu fell short of expectations, either straying too far from their comic book counterparts or not giving them enough screen time or agency. Despite strong performances, characters like Batman, Deathstroke, Superman, Lex Luthor, and the Joker were not fully realized or given the opportunities to shine in the Dceu, leaving fans disappointed.

Despite a generally strong - though still divisive - start with 2013's Man of Steel, the Dceu never quite seemed to catch a consistent streak of big-screen success. In...
