The Sidemen’s YouTube Reality Series Switches To Netflix
Image
Netflix has taken on the second season of The Sidemen’s YouTube reality series.

The streamer has greenlit a second season of the Big Brother-esque Inside, which will air early next year. The first season aired on YouTube, with the first ep having amassed 14 million views via the Sidemen YouTube channel, which has 21.8 million subscribers while the group have nearly 150 million subs between them. Netflix taking on the second season marks a rare occurrence of a YouTube-originated show moving to a streamer.

In collaboration with Netflix and The Sidemen, UK studio Cowshed Collective will produce the seven-part show that features prolific influencers locked inside a house, where they compete in a series of challenges for a prize worth up to £1m ($1.26M).

The Sidemen told the BBC they have “hit the limit” of what they can achieve on YouTube. “Netflix is the gold standard and part of us working...

10 Flawless Shows You Missed Because You Weren't Looking in the Right Place
Image
Fans might not know to look on YouTube for some great series. For almost two decades, YouTube has been a place where creativity and entertainment from the ground level can flourish into iconic staples of pop culture. Creators like Mr. Beast, Pewdiepie and Dude Perfect, to name a small few, have flourished on the platform and become household names. As it's so accessible, anyone can find anything that piques their interest. And some creators are so efficient and intricate with their creative process, that their videos feel of similar quality to movies and television. And while YouTube videos are a completely different medium with different standards, some YouTubers are able to exceed those expectations and create something that feels like a genuine television show.

Popular gaming personality and all-around YouTube sweetheart Markiplier is producing and directing a feature film called Iron Lung. Similarly, hes joined alongside YouTube movie reviewer and appreciator Chris Stuckmann,...

Hyams is the former Head of Originals for YouTube Emea, Director of Global Content for The Walt Disney Company and the creator...

'Heat': 11 Things You (Probably) Don't Know About Michael Mann's Crime Epic
"Heat" is arguably everyone's favorite Michael Mann movie.

It's the source of a rare Robert De Niro/Al Pacino summit, one of the most gripping cops-and-robbers thrillers ever made, and a quintessential Los Angeles movie. Yet, when it opened 20 years ago (on December 15, 1995), it went unheralded by the Angelenos in the Academy.

Despite being snubbed for Oscar nominations, it went on to be considered a classic, one imitated not only by filmmakers (ahem Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight") but also by real-life crooks. Still, for all the obsessive viewings and re-viewings, there's a lot you may not know about "Heat." Here are 11 things you need to know.

1. The inspiration for De Niro's Neil McCauley was a real-life Chicago thief of the same name. The real-life Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino's character) was Chicago cop Chuck Adamson, a technical adviser on Mann's TV police dramas "Miami Vice" and "Crime Story."

2. As in the film,...

Bogart and the Stuff That Both Dreams and Nightmares Are Made Of
Humphrey Bogart movies: ‘The Maltese Falcon,’ ‘High Sierra’ (Image: Most famous Humphrey Bogart quote: ‘The stuff that dreams are made of’ from ‘The Maltese Falcon’) (See previous post: “Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall Movies.”) Besides 1948, 1941 was another great year for Humphrey Bogart — one also featuring a movie with the word “Sierra” in the title. Indeed, that was when Bogart became a major star thanks to Raoul Walsh’s High Sierra and John Huston’s The Maltese Falcon. In the former, Bogart plays an ex-con who falls in love with top-billed Ida Lupino — though both are outacted by ingénue-with-a-heart-of-tin Joan Leslie. In the latter, Bogart plays Dashiel Hammett’s private detective Sam Spade, trying to discover the fate of the titular object; along the way, he is outacted by just about every other cast member, from Mary Astor’s is-she-for-real dame-in-distress to Best Supporting Actor Academy Award nominee Sydney Greenstreet. Hamburger Hamlet, Kate Mantilini Founder Harry Lewis Dies
Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart, and Edward G. Robinson in Key Largo (1948)
Harry Lewis, a nasty accomplice of Edward G. Robinson in the Humphrey Bogart classic Key Largo who went on to launch the showbiz-hotspot restaurants Hamburger Hamlet and Kate Mantilini, has died. He was 93. Lewis died Sunday of natural causes in a convalescent home in Beverly Hills, publicist Greg Rogers announced. Photos: Hollywood's Notable Deaths of 2013 In John Huston's Key Largo (1948), Lewis played Edward “Toots” Bass, one member of Johnny Rocco’s (Robinson’s) gang who pose as vacationers before taking over a run-down hotel in South Florida as a menacing hurricane approaches.
