Trombonist, composer and author Ziskind "Dick" Lieb earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, and joined the Kai Winding Septet as bass trombonist in 1956. By 1959, he began with the Radio City Music Hall orchestra and by 1952, he was with the Skitch Henderson orchestra while also arranging for records and orchestras. Joining ASCAP in 1963, his popular-song compositions include "Play It Cool", "It's About Time", "Ain't It So", "Headset", and Half-Way House".
