The CW Sets Season Premiere Dates For ‘Flash’, ‘Batwoman’, ‘Riverdale’, ‘Walker’, ‘Nancy Drew’, ‘Charmed’ & More
Image
With the Covid-19 pandemic having wreaked havoc on production, the CW’s “fall” season is being winterized. The strangest TV season in memory will continue in January and February with the network setting premiere dates for 11 returning series and three new ones: Walker, Superman & Lois and Canadian pickup Trickster.

The CW in May announced that its regular 2020-21 schedule will roll out in January and unveiled a fall 2020 lineup consisting of acquisitions and the final episodes of Supernatural.

The series are launching when they are ready based on staggered production start dates and length of post-production — especially the multiple superhero shows that require elaborate special effects.

The rollout begins Friday, January 8, with the season bows of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Penn & Teller: Fool Us. Both unscripted veterans originally were set to air on Mondays.

The new season continues with the Season 3 premiere of Two Sentence Horror Stories on Tuesday,...

This week's new films
A Dangerous Method (15)

(David Cronenberg, 2011, UK/ Ger/Can/Swi) Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen, Vincent Cassel, Sarah Gadon. 100 mins

Cronenberg perverts the cause of the costume drama, as Jung and Freud go where no psychoanalyst has gone before, lifting the lid on 19th-century decorum then falling into their own can of worms. Those expecting psychedelic gore (or kinky erotica) will be disappointed; this is intelligent, articulate and restrained, but not quite conventional.

The Muppets (U)

(James Bobin, 2011, Us) Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Kermit The Frog. 110 mins

The faded felt performers mock their own obsolescence in a family musical that's very hard to dislike. Built around a shambolic "let's put on a show" comeback story, it doesn't always crackle with wit, but South Park-ish self-awareness and Conchords-style songs compensate.

The Woman In Black (12A)

(James Watkins, 2012, UK) Daniel Radcliffe, Ciarán Hinds, Janet McTeer. 95 mins

A great many things go bump and argh!

Who Should Play Rainmaker?
So we've all heard by know that Megan Fox's dream role is to be a Native lesbian superhero. She said that she would love to be Sarah Rainmaker of 'Gen 13'. This Apache character from the comic series is able to manipulate weather and the movement of water with her thoughts, as well as being good at combat. Rainmaker is also a peace-seeking activist.

“She’s a Native American and I have a little bit of that blood in me,” she said. “It would be a bit of a stretch – but if Jake Gyllenhaal can be the Prince of Persia, I think that I can do that.”

How about we not repeat a history of Hollywood casting white people into ethnic roles (anybody remember Micky Rooney as Mr. Yunioshi?). I'm not saying no one can play an ethnicity outside of their own, but casting obviously Caucasian people as playing...
