Fabien Riggall believes his company can boost arthouse film distribution in the UK.
Curzon Artificial Eye’s release of The Handmaiden brought in £548,000 at the UK box office over the four-day Easter weekend. Of that total, nearly a third came through Secret Cinema, which reported £159,295 for six preview screenings of Park Chan-Wook’s period mystery.
Secret Cinema founder Fabien Riggall says his company plans to do more preview events.
“We want to do three or four preview runs a year. Festivals are a key part of a release strategy and we also have a lot to offer. We can get people to engage with films that are increasingly hard to release such as foreign-language titles such as Victoria and The Handmaiden.”
Secret Cinema launched in 2007. Secret Cinema X is the strand of the company that previews an upcoming release with participatory evenings where the audience come in costume and interact with actors impersonating their on-screen counterparts on a set...

The mystery of mum led the way on Lucifer Season 2 Episode 1 as Chloe and Lucifer investigated the murder of a stand-in actress, and we were introduced to a new character.
It's almost like we never left as it's only two days after the events of Lucifer Season 1 Episode 13 where Lucifer almost lost his life and found out his mom had escaped Hell. Lucifer is quite understandably worried about his missing mom, and as we progress through the hour, we realize that her escape has left him far more vulnerable than he even realizes.
With the exception of the introduction of Ella Lopez, which I'll get to later, I thought the hour was strong and a lot of fun. And, we were definitely left with some intrigue, right?!
We open with Lucifer and Amenadiel at the scene of a jewel heist where they think the leader is their mom in disguise.

Well, the big studios have finally gotten around to another summer cinema staple. Let’s see, for 2015 we’ve had a couple of sequels (Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Pitch Perfect 2), a reboot (Mad Max: Fury Road), and a brassy lady-driven comedy (Hot Pursuit). So now, it’s time for that other, often dreaded, “R-word”: the remake (usually called a “re-imagining” by sneaky PR types). Oh, and this is another 1980’s classic like January 2014’s Robocop. But we’ll go back a few years before that shoot-em-up satire of 1987. It’s 1982, the summer of Spielberg, when he had his biggest (at that time) box office smash with E.T. The Extra-terrestrial. Now Mr. S wrote and directed that one, but a few weeks before that opened, he produced and wrote another huge hit. Now, yet another prominent blockbuster director, Sam Raimi, is the producer of this new scare-fest. To paraphrase...

The Big Bang Theory needs to solve its Emily problem, and do it fast...
This review contains spoilers.
8.17 The Colonisation Application
The Big Bang Theory has always done an admirable job introducing new characters, to the point where it’s hard to even remember a time when the central group was one of five rather than the seven-piece (plus, periodically, Stuart) it is now. That said, I think we all know that something isn’t quite working with Emily and, even worse, the show doesn’t seem all that bothered with fixing the issue.
This episode marks only the third or fourth time we’ve seen Emily in this entire season, and unfortunately, it's when she’s around that the glaring problems with her development (or lack thereof) are highlighted the most.
Although Raj works well as the single friend in the middle of a group which is pairing off...

The Big Bang Theory deals with the absurdity of grief in an episode that edges towards being distasteful but never crosses the line...

8.16 The Intimacy Acceleration
No matter what, it would have felt in bad taste to have a ‘normal’ episode of The Big Bang Theory follow last week’s sudden death of Mrs. Wolowitz. We may have gotten Howard and the group’s reaction to her passing at the end of the previous episode, but it was kept until the final few moments, and this was the show’s chance to explore it a little further.
Sitcoms are often the best format with which to deal with the absurdity of grief. They’re about extremes of emotion, whether that’s laughter or tragedy, and so The Big Bang Theory’s decision to have Howard and Bernadette focused on the matter at hand, but keep the...
