Exclusive: Lara Wolf has been cast in the Guy Moshe action thriller Hotel Tehran, alongside Liam Neeson and Zachary Levi, sources tell Deadline.

She will play Maryam, a smart, courageous, compassionate woman who has not lost her humanity. Maryam is the daughter of famous dissident Fariba Rajevi. She is a journalist/photographer fighting for women’s rights who has been brutalized in an Iranian prison for the past five years.

Levi leads the film as Tucker, the leader of a unit of disgraced, war-torn ex-CIA operators, into the heart of Tehran to take down a life-changing score.

Moshe wrote the script with Mark Bacci (Prisoner’s Daughter), from an original idea by Bazzel Baz (The Blacklist), a former CIA special operations group officer. Kerry Barden and Paul Schnee (Spotlight) are handling casting.

Exclusive: Here’s a first look at Harland Williams’ upcoming indie comedy feature Wingman ahead of an advanced screening in Toronto today.

Starring Williams, Kayla Wallace, Jamie Kennedy, Russell Peters, David Lipper and Shiva Negar, the feature revolves around Bob (Evan Marsh) who turns to Turk (Williams), a self-proclaimed ‘wingman’ who helps men navigate the dating world despite often disastrous results, in a last-ditch effort to win back his ex-fiancée, Terri (Negar). The duo embark on a series of wild misadventures, with Turk’s extreme coaching tactics pushing Bob into increasingly unpredictable and outrageous situations.

The film had a live performance featuring Williams and Kennedy last night at the Royal Alexandra Theatre and is set for a screening at Toronto’s X Hotel Theatre tonight

The stills show Turk alongside his loyal assistant Holly (Wallace) and another of him at a mystery bar with Eddie (Kennedy), a rival wingman with other plans for Bob.

Exclusive: ITN Distribution has acquired North American rights to the thriller Joe Baby, starring Dichen Lachman, Willa Fitzgerald, Ron Perlman, and Harvey Keitel.

The film, directed by Steven Brand, follows a money collector (Lachman) for a private investigator hired to track down 10 million dollars stolen in a dodgy real estate deal, opening a complex can of worms. Kelly Hu, Kenneth Choi, Corin Nemec, David Lipper, Dan Bakkedahl, and Jason London round out the key cast.

The film is based on Drew Fine’s novel with the screenplay adaptation by Todd Samovitz. Lipper and Robert A. Daly Jr. are producing under their Latigo Films banner, along with Stephen Endelman, Brand, and Jeff Rice, with Brian Sheth serving as executive producer.

Deadline reports that filming has wrapped on a serial killer action thriller called The Neglected, which was shot in Mississippi and stars Josh Duhamel (Shotgun Wedding). Duhamel’s co-stars include Dylan Sprouse (The Duel), Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds), Jeremy London (Mallrats), Jason London (Dazed and Confused), and Elena Sanchez (Devil’s Peak).

Directed and produced by David Lipper, who also crafted the script with Adam G. Levine, The Neglected tells the story of Detective Shaw (Josh Duhamel), who is about to retire when he finds out on his last day of work that a serial killer has buried his son alive. He then races against the clock to solve three murders and find his son’s location before he runs out of air.

BondIt Media Capital provided the financing. Lipper is producing the film alongside Robert A. Daly Jr. of Latigo, Mark Canton, Dorothy Canton, Denise Loren, Mark Fasano, and Ryan Winterstern.

Lily James takes the lead in the reboot of the 1993 action thriller Cliffhanger directed by Renny Harlin and starring Sylvester Stallone. Rocket Science released the first two photos from the new version, which is currently in filming in Austria’s East Tyrol region of the Lienz Dolomites.

In addition to Lily James (Pam & Tommy), the thriller stars Pierce Brosnan, Nell Tiger Free, Franz Rogowski, Shubham Saraf, Assaad Bouab, Suzy Bemba, and Bruno Gouery. Jaume Collet-Serra directs, based on a story by Ana Lily Amirpour.

“In this reboot of Cliffhanger, seasoned mountaineer Ray Cooper (Brosnan) and his daughter Sydney run a mountain chalet in the Dolomites. During a weekend trip with a billionaire’s son, they are targeted by a gang of kidnappers,” reads the official synopsis. “Ray’s older daughter Naomi (James), still haunted by a past climbing accident, witnesses the attack and escapes.

A “Cliffhanger” follow-up keeps on rolling. But now in a much different configuration.

Rocket Science in partnership with Thank You Pictures and Supernix has announced that filming is underway on “Cliffhanger,” a reboot of the 1993 action extravaganza that starred Sylvester Stallone and John Lithgow. This new version stars Lily James and Pierce Brosnan and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, based on a story by Ana Lily Amirpour.

A proposed follow-up to “Cliffhanger” dates back to 1994, when TriStar announced “Cliffhanger 2: The Dam,” with Stallone returning. For years it sat fallow until 2019, when Amirpour was hired and Jason Momoa was earmarked to star. In 2023 it was re-announced as a legacy sequel, with Stallone set to return under the direction of Ric Roman Waugh. Mark Bianculli wrote that version of the script. Later in 2023, Jean-François Richet was hired to replace Waugh.

A reboot of Sylvester Stallone’s action classic “Cliffhanger” is currently in production, but the film will look a lot different from the package initially announced nearly 18 months ago.

Stallone will no longer star in the update meant to be directed by Ric Roman Waugh (“Greenland”) from a script by Mark Bianculli (“Hunters”). A creative overhaul has meant that actor Lily James will take on the lead role. Pierce Brosnan will co-star and Jaume Collet-Serra will direct. The project hails from Rocket Science in partnership with Thank You Pictures and Supernix.

Filming is underway in Austria with a buzzy supporting cast, including: Nell Tiger Free, festival darling Franz Rogowski (“Passages”), Shubham Saraf (“Shantaram”), Assaad Bouab (“Franklin”), Suzy Bemba (“Poor Things”) and Bruno Gouery, a breakout star of the Netflix hit “Emily in Paris.”

Exclusive: Prison Break and Fargo star Peter Stormare is among cast to have joined action-thriller Off The Grid.

Also joining Josh Duhamel, Greg Kinnear and María Elisa Camargo are Talia Asseraf (Kill ‘Em All 2) and Ricky Russert.

In the film, a scientist (Duhamel) steals an experiment and hides off the grid in Europe to prevent it from becoming weaponized. His former research partner (Kinnear), along with an extraction team, is sent in to find him and locate the missing experiment.

Stormare plays Belcor, the evil corporate genius who sends Kinnear’s character and his team of mercenaries led by Mia (played by Asseraf) and Marcus (played by Russert) after Duhamel’s character who is hiding off the grid.

Heather Graham is set to unleash fury in the wild west in upcoming horror thriller Place of Bones, and Bloody Disgusting has scored an exclusive sneak preview clip this afternoon.

Place of Bones releases in select theaters and on Digital on August 23, 2024.

Full House star David Lipper has explained why DJ's new romance with his character, Viper, was ultimately cut from season 8, making his role reduced from what was originally planned. Viper was first introduced in season 8, a young member of Jesse's band who becomes enamored with DJ. While the pair initially had a romantic connection, a later episode of the season saw him compete for her heart with her former boyfriend, Nelson. Oscar winner Russell Crowe will star in the action-thriller movie Bear Country. The A Beautiful Mind and LA Confidential actor will reunite with Unhinged director Derrick Borte for the upcoming project after the pair worked together on Unhinged.

According to Deadline, Bear Country will begin principal photography on the Gold Coast of Australia in October. In the Nickel City Pictures and A Higher Standard produced film, Crowe will play an aging but formidable club owner named Manco Kapak, who a masked gunman robs. Consequently, his aspirations of selling his club and leaving town with his girlfriend become ever more distant. Cartel bosses are breathing down his neck, and a young upstart, posing as the new top guy, wants to buy the club. Borte and Daniel Forte (American Dreamer) penned the screenplay for the film, which adapts Thomas Perry's novel Strip.

Exclusive: Bella Thorne is set to make her feature directorial debut with Color Your Hurt, the true story of a young gay man growing up in the bible belt.

Thorne has started the casting process on the project which is based on her original screenplay and a short film she has made called Unsettled, which is in post-production.

Filming is being lined up for the Midwest and Italy in spring of this year.

The Midnight Sun and Babysitter actress made Unsettled in June 2023 (around the same time her short film Paint Her Red debuted at the Taormina Film Festival) with producers Jen Gatien (Chelsea On The Rocks) and Eddie Alcazar (The Vandal). Self-consciously tacky effort recalls the classic horror films that made a spectacle of women being murdered and abused

This is frankly a shonky bit of exploitative nonsense that, in a way, recalls the classic horror films that feminist film theorist Carol J Clover wrote about so perceptively in her foundational tome Men, Women and Chainsaws. Such films – in this case, on an island where vile rich men espousing misogynist views hunt down and kill the women they’ve trafficked there – only to turn the tables in the last act when the “final girls” triumph so that female viewers might experience a cathartic thrill of vengeance.

That said, one gets the impression that the film-makers on Hunt Club, starting with screenwriters David Lipper (who has a supporting role here) and John Saunders, and director Elizabeth Blake-Thomas, aren’t taking any of this that seriously. The movie will release on Digital and DVD on August 1 and follows a woman who is abducted by a blood cult during a trip to the countryside. Severely underestimated by her kidnappers, it doesn't take long for Erin to turn the tables, causing the predators to become the prey. The film is directed by David Ryan Keith, who wrote the script alongside Stephen Durham. In addition to his work on The Dark Within and Ghosts of Darkness, Keith previously collaborated with Uncork’d Entertainment on The Redwood Massacre.

Sometimes, there comes a movie that is shot on a low budget, but with its riveting dialogue and seriously good acting, it keeps the viewer engaged throughout its entire runtime. Unfortunately, Hunt Club, directed by Elizabeth Blake-Thomas, is not that kind of low-budget movie. It’s apparent that the budget for the film was pretty tight, and they spent most of it getting Mena Suvari and Mickey Rourke on board. The major flaw of the film is the dialogue written by David Lipper and John Saunders. The lackluster acting and editing don’t help elevate the movie at all. Sure, there are campy slasher moments that provide some pulpy fun, but the film doesn’t live up to its decent plot.

The narrative revolves around Cassandra, who befriends a suave gentleman and his son and agrees to go on a unique hunting affair on an island after they tell her about the hefty prize money.

Josh Duhamel will join the ensemble of the survival thriller “Not Without Hope,” an adaptation of Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman’s best-selling book that will be written and directed by Joe Carnahan. Also joining the cast are JoBeth Williams, Quentin Plair, Terrence Terrell and Marshall Cook.

As previously announced, Zachary Levi (“Shazam!”) is starring in the film, which tells the real-life story of a tragic 2009 boating accident involving Schuyler, his friends Will Bleakley (Cook) and NFL players Marquis Cooper (Plair) and Corey Smith (Terrell). Levi will play Schuyler.

The search-and rescue-operation captivated national attention. Duhamel will portray U.S. Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close, who oversaw a crew that cut through the ocean to try to find the friends who went missing. Carnahan has some experience orchestrating survival tales, having previously directed “The Grey,” which found Liam Neeson battling very hungry wolves after a plane crash stranded his character in a snowy mountain range.

Saw star Tobin Bell teams with Machete’s Danny Trejo in the trailer for the slasher movie The Curse of Wolf Mountain. Bell debuted as famed horror villain Jigsaw way back in 2004’s original torture porn classic Saw, going on to reprise the role seven times, with an eighth appearance set to happen later this year in Saw X. Trejo in the meantime has become an overall genre movie icon thanks to decades of roles in fare ranging from Desperado to Anaconda to Con Air to, of course, 2010’s grind house tribute Machete and its sequel Machete Kills.

Despite both having been around for so many years, Saw X star Bell and Machete icon Trejo had surprisingly never appeared together in a movie, but now that has been remedied thanks to the low-budget slasher The Curse of Wolf Mountain, which just dropped a new trailer (via IGN).

Exclusive: Action-horror The Curse Of Wolf Mountain, featuring genre icons Danny Trejo and Tobin Bell in the cast, has been acquired by Uncork’d Entertainment for a U.S. digital and DVD release in May.

Keli Price (Just Swipe) both wrote and stars in the horror while David Lipper, who also features in the cast, directs.

Hunt Club, the upcoming action thriller starring Oscar nominees Mena Suvari (American Beauty, American Pie) and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler, The Expendables), has found a home in the U.S.

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the film — reuniting Suvari and Rourke after they co-starred in Tony Scott’s Domino in 2005 — from director Elizabeth Blake-Thomas (Just Swipe, Maybe I’m Fine), working from a script by David Lipper and John F. Saunders. Lipper and his partner Robert A. Daly Jr. produce through their Latigo Films banner, alongside Mark Lester, Keli Price, and Kipp Tribble. Kimberly Hines executive produces.

Audrey Cummings, who directed two episodes from the platform's hit comedy-drama Ginny and Georgia, helmed the project, which recently wrapped production in Los Angeles. The cast will also include Tom Hopper, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, and Coric Nemec. On the producing side of the movie, Eric Gozlan, David Lipper and Robert A. Daly Jr. were behind the film through Goldrush Entertainment and Latigo Films (Daly Jr.). While a release date hasn't been announced for Place of Bones, the fact that filming already wrapped could hint at a launch later this year.

Grandave Intl. has acquired worldwide sales rights to action thriller feature “Joe Baby,” Tamara Nagahiro, Grandave Intl. head of sales, announced Tuesday.

The film stars Dichen Lachman, Willa Fitzgerald, Academy Award nominated actor Harvey Keitel, two-time Primetime Emmy Awards nominated and Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman, Kelly Hu, Jason London, and Kenneth Choi.
