Was a regular celebrity guest at the annual Lone Pine Film Festival in the Alabama Hills below Mt. Whitney. He attended up until 2012 when his health started to fail. He shot several westerns in the area, including episodes of
Wagon Train (1957), in which he had a recurring role.. For the festival, he would perform his banjo act at the Mt. Whitney Restaurant each Saturday evening of the yearly event.
