Bill Lawrence, the creator of the original series, is coming back as an executive producer. Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra will take charge as showrunners, while Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer also join the team as executive producers.

The new season is planned for the 2025-26 TV schedule. The story will reunite Jd and Turk as they work side-by-side again after many years. Even though the hospital and the interns have changed over time, their strong friendship remains at the heart of the show. The season...

Bill Lawrence: Scrubs Revival ‘Looks at How the System Has Changed’ — And Who, Potentially, Has Scrubbed Out
Image
While ABC’s in-the-works Scrubs revival will feature characters both old and new, unlike Season 9, which saw Dr. John Dorian pass the proverbial torch to a new protagonist — Kerry Bishé’s Lucy Bennett — a hypothetical 10th season will be told exclusively from Vanilla Bear’s perspective.

Series mastermind Bill Lawrence revealed as much to me during a recent Zoom, where he reflected on the sitcom’s divisive ninth season and confirmed that the revival is very much about Jd and Bff Turk.

The Friends Cast Reunited Through This Hilarious Courteney Cox Sitcom
Image
The 2009 sitcom "Cougar Town" was never a massive ratings hit; it was constantly on the verge of cancellation, with ABC pulling the cord after season 3 and TBS picking up and then pulling the cord again in season 6. The show starred Courteney Cox of "Friends" fame as main character Jules, but it never came anywhere close to being the cultural phenomenon that "Friends' was. Still, it was a fun watch that offered a lot of fun cameos for "Friends" fans to enjoy.

For instance, halfway through season 1 Lisa Kudrow shows up as Jules' mean dermatologist. In the season 2 premiere Jennifer Aniston stops by to play Jules' therapist, and this character isn't that nice either. Finally there came Matthew Perry in season 5, who asks Jules out on a date after she crashes into his car; the storyline was extra sweet considering Perry and Cox had played lovers on "Friends" for its final five seasons.

Scrubs Season 10 Can Make Up For Never Showing This Massive Event From Between The Final 2 Seasons
Image
Scrubs season 10 will be a blend of the show's storied past while also folding in new characters and storylines, but the revival mustn't forget to revisit a key moment that was never actually shown onscreen. Although the core cast remained intact for almost all nine seasons of Scrubs, the softly rebooted final run (Aka Scrubs: Med School) shifted focus to a new batch of interns. Although showrunner Bill Lawrence has confirmed he wants to introduce new characters again in Scrubs season 10, the original cast will still be a huge part of the formula.

The Scrubs revival is looking to be an almost complete reunion of the beloved cast. Although the death of Sam Lloyd since the show's ending sadly means Ted the Lawyer will unfortunately not be returning, there is every chance the fan base could see appearances from every doctor in Scrubs who starred in the show's golden age,...

'Scrubs' Creator Bill Lawrence Shares New Details About the Anticipated Revival
Image
Nearly 15 years after its divisive conclusion, Scrubs is headed back to the small screen. A revival series has been teased by the show's cast for years, and it's finally in development. Details have been trickling in, and now we know more about what we can expect the show's premise to be. During a conversation with Collider, Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence revealed that the series will take place in the present time and won't pick up right after the original show's conclusion. That's a good thing, given the time that has lapsed and that the medical field was turned upside down by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"With the creative side, the show's not going to pick up a day later. It can't. I'm interested in where these characters are, that many years later. I always remember the finale of Scrubs, in Season 8, with J.D. saying he has a dream of how things would go and,...

John C. McGinley, Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, and Judy Reyes in Scrubs (2001)
Scrubs | Reboot of medical comedy in development
John C. McGinley, Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, and Judy Reyes in Scrubs (2001)
Medical sitcom Scrubs is set to be rebooted, creator Bill Lawrence is onboard and the majority of the original cast are in talks to return.

Bill Lawrence is one of the busiest men in television. Shrinking has been a huge hit on Apple TV and has been renewed for a third season. Ted Lasso, which he created with Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, is edging ever closer to a fourth season. His other Apple TV show, Bad Monkey starring Vince Vaughn, has also been renewed for a second series,

On top of all that, according to Deadline a reboot of his hit medical comedy Scrubs, which ran for nine seasons between 2001 and 2010, is in development at ABC in America.

Scrubs followed the misadventures of a group of doctors at Sacred Heart Hospital, beginning with them as interns in season one and following them through their development into fully fledged doctors...

Scrubs Reboot Criticisms Responded To By Creator Bill Lawrence: "Get On Board"
Image
Following its long-awaited confirmation, Bill Lawrence defends the Scrubs reboot from early skepticism and critiques. Airing across nine seasons from 2001 to 2010, the sitcom focused on the struggles and trials of a group of newly employed medical staff at the Sacred Heart Teaching Hospital. Scrubs starred Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley. It was critically acclaimed and holds a lasting legacy for its balance of creative humor and hard-hitting drama.

While Scrubs' reboot is still in the early stages of development, Lawrence took to Twitter/X to respond to early skepticism. Assuring that those involved are passionate about the project, Lawrence iterated it'd be up to critics whether they watch or not. Ultimately, Lawrence asked fans to give the reboot a chance. This tweet is below:

Yeah, I will help. Why would you hope it doesn’t happen? Not a ton of people are working out here.

14 Scrubs Characters Who Must Return In The Revival
Image
Scrubs' original run was filled with a wide array of characters, but it wouldn't make sense for all of them to come back, nor would it be possible for everyone to do so. The Scrubs revival has been gaining momentum lately, with showrunner Bill Lawrence and other members of the original cast and crew dropping comments and updates about how far away the sitcom is from returning. Lawrence has gone as far as claiming the Scrubs comeback is "so very close" to happening. So, it only seems like a matter of time until Disney greenlights the project.

In an ideal world, every character would return for Scrubs season 10, but sadly, that isn't realistic. For example, Sam Lloyd sadly passed away in 2020, meaning Ted the Lawyer won't be present. Additionally, Johnny Kastl probably won't be back as Doug, as the former actor is now a lawyer and hasn't performed since 2009. Regardless,...

Scrubs Season 10 Won't Be The Same Without Its Missing Character
Image
With the Scrubs revival seemingly on the horizon, the reunion of the cast will unfortunately be incomplete due to an upsetting behind-the-scenes occurrence. The missing figure in question starred in all nine seasons of Scrubs, which means the upcoming run of potential episodes will be the first batch in which they won't appear. Scrubs season 10 faces several challenges after season 9's failure, but this one is unfortunately insurmountable.

Showrunner Bill Lawrence has promised he's "Definitely going to" make more Scrubs. So, although the sitcom's revival hasn't yet been officially greenlit, it would seem the return of John "Jd" Dorian and friends is imminent at this point. While there is plenty to get excited about for the show's existing fans, it won't be possible to recapture exactly the same magic that made the original run so beloved.

Sadly, Scrubs Season 10 Won't Be Complete Without Sam Lloyd Lloyd played Ted the Lawyer...

10 Best Shows Like ‘Ted Lasso’ To Watch If You Love the Series

Ted Lasso is one of the most beloved shows of the last decade. Developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, the Apple TV+ series is based on a series of promotional media for NBC Sports’ coverage of England’s Premier League and it follows the story of Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team, in which he has no experience in. However, he is optimistic because of his confidence in other people’s kindness and his leadership skills. Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed, Juno Temple, Sarah Niles, Anthony Head, and James Lance. 8 Challenges Scrubs Season 10 Faces After The Sitcom's Disappointing Ending
Image
The Scrubs revival faces several challenges after season 9's failure in 2010. Mistakes made with the Scrubs revival could hurt the sitcom's legacy further. Bringing back original characters is crucial, and new additions shouldn't overshadow the original Scrubs cast.

With Scrubs' return to TV screens seemingly inevitable, the sitcom has an uphill battle to fight when it comes to restoring its legacy after the failure of its final season. Scrubs season 9 - also known as Scrubs: Med School - made an admirable attempt to rework the show's formula in preparation for Zach Braff's eventual departure as the leader of the cast. Unfortunately, the medical sitcom lost its magic due to all the alterations, leading to its cancelation.

The revival has not yet been officially greenlit. However, showrunner Bill Lawrence has declared he's "Definitely going to" bring Scrubs back for more episodes, and that's an exciting prospect - if not also a little worrying.

Scrubs Season 10 Is Infinitely Better Than The Revival Plan We Almost Got
Image
Scrubs season 10 isn't confirmed, but the showrunner has declared the show is "definitely" coming back. Creator Bill Lawrence wants to bring back original cast members and introduce new characters in the revival. The Scrubs revival should be careful not to overstay its welcome to maintain the nostalgia factor and avoid fatigue.

Scrubs season 10 would seem to be an inevitability rather than speculation, and the showrunner's new plan to revive the sitcom is a vast improvement on what he's had in mind for so long. Creator Bill Lawrence has confirmed that he and the Scrubs cast are "Definitely going to" bring the show back, with the original run ending in 2010. Lawrence has long been vocal about his desire to reunite the Scrubs cast, but his latest update regarding the format of the upcoming revival is even more exciting.

Of all nine seasons of Scrubs, the show's final run was comfortably the least well-received.

8 Most Heartbreaking TV Show Twists Ill Never Recover From
Image
TV plot twists can be emotionally impactful, changing character dynamics and viewer perspectives forever. Good twists are planned in advance with subtle hints dropped throughout the show for maximum impact. Overused twists lose their potency, while well-executed shocks can enhance storytelling and character development.

Every great TV show includes some type of twist, but some are so emotionally impactful and heartbreaking that audiences never forget them. Most often, this pertains to a character's death or the reveal of information that changes a relationship forever. When a plot twist lands, it changes the way the viewer sees the show forever and sets the characters on a completely new course. While there are plenty of instances when a twist can lead to good things for a series' characters in the long run, the use of the shock factor typically coincides with sadness and devastation.

These twists must be planned well in advance and shouldn't be overused,...

The Same Side Character Appears In 2 Different Sitcoms (& It Creates A Problem)
Image
Ted the Lawyer's appearance in both Scrubs and Cougar Town tied the two shows together, creating a continuity issue. Other actors from Scrubs also appeared in Cougar Town as different characters, further complicating the canon. The meta issue of multiple characters sharing the same face within the same world was acknowledged, but it remained unusual.

Sitcom crossovers don't usually present an issue with the shows involved, but casting quirks can cause problems when two or more series are joined together. Showrunners can create strong working relationships with certain actors, often wanting them to appear in many of their projects. However, some casting choices can affect continuity. Moving a character from one show to another needs to be considered carefully. Otherwise, the world of both shows can become compromised, as some references can go far beyond a subtle wink to the audience.

Bill Lawrence has had a very successful career as a TV creative and showrunner,...

10 Weird TV Seasons That Almost Felt Like A Different Show
Image
Scrubs season 9, known as Scrubs: Med School, felt like a different show due to major cast changes and the absence of main characters. Community season 4 was a weaker season due to the absence of show creator Dan Harmon, resulting in a different feeling to the series. Black Mirror season 5 had a tonal shift and focused more on interpersonal relationships, falling short of the dark and shocking episodes previous seasons delivered.

Not every season of a television series must maintain the same level of quality throughout its run, but some seasons are so weirdly different that it can almost feel like an entirely different show. Oftentimes, major cast changes can completely transform the dynamics of a show, with new characters being introduced to fill the void left by those who have left, and it just does not feel the same. There are other instances, even in anthology shows, where, despite having a consistent atmosphere and tone,...

SAG Awards 2021 In Memoriam: Sunday’s special segment will honor Chadwick Boseman, Oliva de Havilland, Cicely Tyson and who else?
Image
Even though Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be shortened to just one pre-taped hour on TNT and TBS, the special In Memoriam segment will still be a highlight. Since the 2020 event aired on January 19, it will be over 14 months until the one on April 4. That means even more actors, actresses and members of SAG/AFTRA will hopefully be honored than the 40 people in the tribute last year.

Chadwick Boseman died last August and is a four-time nominee for the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. The two individual nominations are for his leading role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and his supporting performance in “Da 5 Bloods.” Those two films also are nominated for the top ensemble category.

Oscar winners who have died in the past 14 months include Sean Connery, Olivia de Havilland, Cloris Leachman and Christopher Plummer. Academy Award nominees include Boseman, Kirk Douglas, Hal Holbrook, Ian Holm,...

Emmy Video Remembers Nick Cordero, Kobe Bryant & Daytime Stars Left Off Sunday’s Broadcast Memorial
Image
The Emmys’ In Memoriam segment Sunday left out a number of actors we lost in 2020, but the Television Academy hasn’t entirely overlooked them. Nick Cordero, Chi Chi DeVayne, Kobe Bryant, Shelley Morrison, Honor Blackman, and soap actors Roscoe Born, John Callahan, Marj Dusay and John Karlen are among the many names included in a more comprehensive roster on the Academy’s website.

Some of the names, including Morrison, actress Kelly Preston and Saturday Night Live‘s music producer Hal Willner, were represented in a not-particularly easy-to-read memorial segment during the Creative Arts ceremonies last week (see it below) but didn’t make the shorter roster on the Emmys broadcast Sunday.

The comprehensive scrolling roster includes performers whose body of work fell largely in other areas of entertainment – Cordero, Zoe Caldwell, Mark Blum and Brent Carver from the stage, Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green from music, Honor Blackman from film...

Zach Braff Says Emmys Passed On Nick Cordero For Memorial Tribute Despite Supporters’ Campaign
Image
Nick Cordero was not included in the Emmy Award’s In Memoriam segment Sunday night, and Zach Braff, the late actor’s friend and former Broadway co-star, says it wasn’t for supporters’ lack of trying.

“For those wondering: The Emmys chose to leave Nick Cordero out of the memorial montage,” Braff tweeted today. “I had no idea one had to campaign to get their loved one in. We did. They passed.”

Braff also tweeted a note he said he received from Emmy staffers that said, “Those involved in the In Memoriam selection process are very aware of the sad passing of Mr Cordero due to coronavirus and we assure that his name has been given every consideration for inclusion. With so many people passing in any given year, we simply cannot ensure any particular individual is included, nor do we release the name of those included prior to the telecast.

A huge part of what makes Scrubs such a great TV show is the ridiculous amount of lovable characters that populate the fictional halls of its central hospital, Sacred Heart. The show’s side characters even proved to be so popular that their roles were significantly expanded as the show went on, becoming firm fan favorites. Take Sacred Heart’s resident lawyer, Ted Buckland, for example, whose dispirited attitude and bizarre mannerisms are both hilarious and endearing.

Child's Play (2019)
John Lafia, best known for co-writing 1988 horror film classic “Child’s Play,” and co-writing and directing “Child’s Play 2,” died on April 29 in Los Angeles, according to a statement from his family. He was 63.

Although a cause of death was not shared, the family offered information about the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which we’ve included at the bottom.

“Child’s Play” creator and screenwriter Don Mancini confirmed the news of Lafia’s passing in a Facebook post, writing:

“Devastated by this news. John was a crucial part of the Chucky family from the very beginning. He co-wrote the original Child’S Play script along with director Tom Holland and myself, and John directed Child’S Play 2 — the consensus favorite film among Chucky fans. John was an incredibly generous artist. He let me tag along with him to every meeting, and shadow him on set; he taught me more about filmmaking during the...

It's A Full-On 'Scrubs' Reunion On 'Cougar Town'
Courteney Cox, Josh Hopkins, Busy Philipps, Dan Byrd, Ian Gomez, Christa Miller, and Brian Van Holt in Cougar Town (2009)
When Travis ran away to Hawaii on "Cougar Town" (Tue., 8:30 p.m. Et on ABC), he ran into Ted Buckland (Sam Lloyd) from "Scrubs." It was the same actor and the same character across the two Bill Lawrence shows, but Lloyd wasn't the only returning "Scrubs" alumnus in attendance at this week's "Cougar Town," though he was the only character.

Ted and his a cappella group showed up in Florida for a competition, bunking at Jules' place for a while. There he saw Ellie (Christa Miller) -- who looks a lot like Jordan Sullivan from his old job -- sitting next to Bobby's new girlfriend, played by Sarah Chalke -- who of course looks identical to Dr. Elliot Reid.

Suddenly, Ted started freaking out realizing that they women here looked like women he knew there, and then they started picking up their mannerisms. Suddenly, Ken Jenkins dropped in to...

TV Review: ABC’s ‘Cougar Town’ Finally Returns With Strong Premiere
Chicago – With almost every episode they’ve produced, ABC’s “Cougar Town” has turned into a better program. It’s been remarkable to watch creator Bill Lawrence and his team refine what works about this show. They’ve taken it away from the star vehicle feel of its first season to an ensemble show in its Finally-debuting third season, tonight, February 14th, 2012. Spend Valentine’s Day with one of the stronger comedies on TV.

Television Rating: 4.0/5.0

ABC is in an enviable position that still could spell death for “Cougar Town” — they have a wealth of quality comedy. “Modern Family” and “Happy Endings” are two of the best on TV, “Suburgatory” gets better with every episode, and “The Middle” is a solid performer. That’s four shows, which leaves no room for “Cougar Town” back on Wednesday nights. Pairing it with Tim Allen’s mediocre “Last Man Standing,” which has a very different demo,...

Cougar Town Returns With More Romance, Comedy and Neighborly Shenanigans (feat. Video Interview with Courteney Cox and Josh Hopkins)
As a special treat for fans and new viewers, Cougar Town returns on Valentine’s Day with an especially fun episode that will make romantics at-heart swoon. The entire episode (aptly entitled “Ain’t Love Strange”) is a love letter. It is a warm-hearted ode to the fans that have watched for the prior two seasons, and an enticing invitation to new viewers to check out a show that has been saddled with a misleading moniker.

The running joke for the past two years has been to poke fun at the title of the show. Contrary to its name, the show offers a lively look at a charming group of friends who have become a family over the course of their lifetime adventures and who have welcomed a few more lonely neighbors and co-workers into their lives. While divorces tend to drive people away, the divorce of Jules and Bobby...

Exclusive: In-Depth with Ryan Levin on Some Guy Who Kills People
It started with a tweet. I have no idea who put said tweet in my feed, but in that feed there was a trailer for a film that sounded so vague that admittedly my curiosity was piqued. The name? Some Guy Who Kills People.

Written by Ryan Levin, directed by Jack Perez and starring Kevin Corrigan, Some Guy Who Kills People tells the story of Ken Boyd, a lonely man fresh out of the loony bin who sets out to kill those he deems responsible for his miserable life.

Using the powers of Twitter, I reached out to writer Ryan Levin and this is what happened...

Crix: Where did the idea for Sgwkp come about?

Ryan Levin: The idea came from a short film I made in 2007 called “The Fifth,” in which a group of buddies hang out, play poker and shoot the shit about their jobs. One of the guys,...
