Liam Neeson Action Thriller 'In the Land of Saints and Sinners' Finds Success on Prime Video
Image
Beloved aged action hero Liam Neeson continues to demonstrate his particular set of skills...with mixed results. But, while some of his action movies may be middling (or less) thriller fare, the renowned actor returned to the genre once again to deliver something righteous in 2023’s In the Land of Saints and Sinners. And it's now finding success on Prime Video. Amid all the new and old movies that landed on the streaming platform at the start of the new year, action fans are turning to Neeson to get 2025 off to the right start.

Directed by Robert Lorenz and written by Mark Michael McNally and Terry Loane, In the Land of Saints and Sinners is an Irish production and stars Liam Neeson in the lead role, alongside Kerry Condon, Jack Gleeson, Colm Meaney and Ciarán Hinds. The action thriller sees Neeson reunite with The Marksman director for this tale of a former hitman who,...

Pierce Brosnan on Becoming a 92-Year-Old Vet for ‘Last Rifleman’ and the Latest About ‘Mamma Mia 3’
Image
Pierce Brosnan felt a personal connection to the story in his new film The Last Rifleman, in which he portrays a nearly 93-year-old World War II veteran grappling with the pain of his past.

“I thought it was such a heartfelt story, and it took me back to a part of Ireland that I didn’t know,” the Ireland-born actor tells The Hollywood Reporter of the movie that filmed in Belfast. “My stepfather was in the Second World War. He was a Scotsman from Glasgow. He talked little of the war, but he was in the tank regiment, and he talked about a particular incident which haunted him.”

Loosely based on the true story of British D-Day veteran Bernard Jordan, The Last Rifleman is now available via on-demand platforms and includes a similarly haunting backstory for Artie Crawford (Brosnan). Following the death of his wife, Artie plans to escape from...

‘The Last Rifleman’ Review: Pierce Brosnan Proves Poignant in a Nostalgia-Heavy World War II Story
Image
An amalgam of a road trip dramedy, an emotional memory piece and a nostalgic look at the glory of World War II, “The Last Rifleman” wants to be many things. Alas, Kevin Fitzpatrick’s script fails to give any of these threads the dramatic heft or the character specification they require. Terry Loane directs all of it with a smooth but rather indifferent hand, unable to overcome the script’s limitations. As the veteran referred to by the title, Pierce Brosnan becomes the main reason to watch.

Brosnan is 92-year-old Artie Crawford, living in a care home in Northern Ireland while having poignant and unsettling flashbacks to World War II, when he fought alongside his best friend and fell in love with the woman he eventually married. Facing the end of life, he decides to go back to Normandy to visit the place that haunts his dreams. Despite the distractingly...

The Last Rifleman Sneak Peek Sees Pierce Brosnan As a Man On the Run [Exclusive]
Image
Pierce Brosnan is a stowaway in Collider's exclusive sneak peek of the actors upcoming film, The Last Rifleman. Tossing on some aging prosthetics, The Matador star appears in the Terry Loane-helmed production as Artie Crawfod, a WWII veteran who is spending his twilight years as a resident at a care home in Northern Ireland. Reeling from the very recent loss of his wife, Artie is itching to break away from the everyday humdrum that has become his regular routine. With the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings on the horizon, Artie spots an opportunity to relive some of his most memorable days and makes a break for it, traveling to France to salute his fallen friends one last time. Based on a true story, The Last Rifleman promises plenty of heartfelt moments mixed with light-hearted comedy and a side helping of drama.

The Last Rifleman Review — Pierce Brosnan’s Remarkable Performance in a Heartfelt and Moving Tale!
Image
The Last Rifleman is one of those films from a genre I have often described as “a movie.” It was made for that lazy Sunday afternoon that makes you appreciate what you have or long for what you don’t. This British war drama, which Sky Films has finally dusted off, is now allowing the rest of the world to see it. This is welcomed because The Last Rifleman is a good genre picture.

That’s because Terry Loane’s (In the Land of Saints and Sinners) The Last Rifleman has a bevy of quality messaging that also happens to be highly entertaining. Along with a touching central performance from a well-known movie star and some cameos from the late John Amos in his last film role, it’s a movie experience that is funny, moving, and, above all else, satisfying.

Pierce Brosnan and Samuel Bottomley star in The Last Rifleman...

The Last Rifleman Star Pierce Brosnan Breaks Down His Transformational Performance As Irish WWII Veteran
Image
Pierce Brosnan stars in The Last Rifleman, inspired by the true story of Bernard Jordan, a real-life WWII veteran who snuck out of his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary D-Day memorial event in Normandy, France, back in 2014. Aged up with incredible makeup, Brosnan is nigh-unrecognizable as a 92 (and three-quarters) year-old Artie Crawford, a D-Day veteran who, like his real-life inspiration, escapes from his assisted living facility to attend the D-Day memorial in France.

Brosnan completely owns the role, and the film, giving dignity and quiet strength to the frail Artie Crawford, a man whose life, like so many others, was completely upended by World War II. Directed by Terry Loane, The Last Rifleman effortlessly balances the comedic adventure of Artie's journey with the pathos of the pain he's carried within his soul for the last 70 years. The result is a film that surprises with its emotional breadth, entertaining...

Pierce Brosnan goes Awol as an elderly soldier aims to be remembered before time runs out in The Last Rifleman trailer
Image
In a fast-moving, ever-evolving world plagued by struggles and sensationalism, it’s easy to forget the sacrifices made by people belonging to an older generation. Many young people have no appreciation for the trauma endured by soldiers of near-forgotten wars. They are too busy stunting for likes and subscribers while desperately craving the approval of strangers who could care less. However, those who fought for freedom remember the deafening bomb blasts, burying friends far too soon, and what the word honor truly represents. In Samuel Goldwyn Films‘s The Last Rifleman trailer, Pierce Brosnan plays a WWII veteran determined to return to Ireland on the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, but does he still have what it takes to make the journey?

Terry Loane directs The Last Rifleman from a screenplay by Kevin Fitzpatrick (The Last Letter). Inspired by a true story, Brosnan plays Artie Crawford, a World War...

You can watch Bumbray’s interview with Gleeson in the video embedded above, and you can read his 8/10 review of In the Land of Saints and Sinners at This Link.

Reuniting Liam Neeson with his The Marksman director Robert Lorenz, In the Land of Saints and Sinners was written by Mark Michael McNally and Terry Loane (with revisions by Matthew Feitshans). ‘In the Land of Saints and Sinners’ Review: Liam Neeson and Kerry Condon Fight to the Death in a Handsome but Hacky Irish Western
Image
At some point during the first act of Robert Lorenz’s handsome but egregiously hackneyed “In the Land of Saints and Sinners,” which is maybe the 900th Liam Neeson movie about a weary hitman/rancher/fixer/truck driver/ex-cop/very tall person who decides to take matters into his own hands when some bad guys step over the line, the prolific Irish actor turns to one of his scene partners and sighs: “There’s more to me than this, and I’d like folks to see it.”

Needless to say, the first part of that sentence is much easier to believe than the second.

Cast here as a regretful assassin who tries to change his ways at the height of the Troubles (only to get mixed up with a trio of Ira terrorists who take cover in his quaint coastal village after a car bomb goes wrong), Neeson again reaffirms...

Pierce Brosnan Stars in 'The Last Rifleman' Trailer About a WWII Vet
Image
"It's a miracle that you made it this far. You are quite the soldier, Mr. Crawford." Sky Cinema has revealed an official trailer for a UK drama titled The Last Rifleman, from filmmaker Terry Loane. This is set for a quick opening next week streaming in the UK via Sky Cinema. Yet another super patriotic "look at what we did back then!" story about a WWII veteran – this film tells the exact same story as The Great Escaper with Michael Caine. I guess it's a story they really need to tell multiple times. A WWII veteran escapes his care home in Northern Ireland and embarks on an arduous but inspirational journey to France to attend the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, finding the courage to face the ghosts of his past. The film stars Pierce Brosnan (in prosthetics) as 92 & 3/4-years-old Artie Crawford, Clemence Poesy, John Amos, Jürgen Prochnow, Claire Rafferty,...

‘In the Land of Saints & Sinners’ Review: Liam Neeson’s Gravitas Can’t Save This Barrow Full of Irish Clichés
Image
The paddywhackery’s as thick as the Oirish brogues and flavorful caricatures in Robert Lorenz’s In the Land of Saints & Sinners, a deadly serious thriller about violence and redemption in which a local lush pauses to grab his pint as gunfire tears up the village pub. Not since the merry blarney of Wild Mountain Thyme has a movie leaned so hard into Emerald Isle stereotypes, which makes it remarkable that Liam Neeson as a pipe-smoking, Dostoevsky-reading assassin manages to play it straight. Kerry Condon as an Ira spitfire with a fondness for the C-word adds some interest, but this is overwritten, overripe and likely destined to be streaming fodder.

While the film is set in 1974 when The Troubles were still raging, that bitter political conflict is merely background wallpaper for a formulaic faux-Western in the predictable script written by Mark Michael McNally and Terry Loane, which loads up...

Morgan Freeman
From a Luc Besson action flick getting a veteran to Armie Hammer getting swapped for a hot rising actor, a few casting bits and bobs to keep you ahead of the game.... Freeman will play a science dude who can explain all this, who Lucy attempts to find before she dies or something. This sounds pretty dumb. [The Wrap] "Mad Men" star Christina Hendricks will star in the '70s drama "Measure Of A Man.
