15 Best Shows Like Young Sheldon
Image
"Young Sheldon" feels like a one-of-a-kind show. This prequel series immerses you in the world of "The Big Bang Theory" as it begins with Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) conducting a science experiment before introducing younger versions of his family members, like Meemaw (Annie Potts) and Sheldon's mother, Mary (Zoey Perry). While "Young Sheldon" was made to explore Sheldon's childhood, it also explores what we love about family comedies, which were popular in the 1980s and 1990s. These are the decades that "Young Sheldon" is set in, and the show acknowledges this setting by honoring the formulas of past family comedies by showcasing awkward classroom moments with Sheldon and interruptions from their neighbor, Billy Sparks (Wyatt McClure).

While fans can continue to explore the Coopers' younger years with "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," the nostalgia of "Young Sheldon" could lead you to binge other great family stories. There's a lot of material out there,...

Here’s Why General Hospital’s Finola Hughes Was a Nervous Wreck Pre-Feud
Image
Traditionally, Anna Devane has always kept her cool on General Hospital. In fact, the only time we’ve seen the former super spy come unglued was when she and Jason were in Africa, and it looked as if Sidwell’s men were going to execute them. But otherwise, the Port Charles police commissioner has remained calm in the face of imminent danger. However, her portrayer, Finola Hughes, faced a bout of jitters recently when she and some cast members were on a beloved game show.

Pre-Show Jitters

Several cast members from Gh recently faced off against the cast of The Young and the Restless on Celebrity Family Feud. Hughes spoke to TV Insider about the fun event in which she and her co-workers played for a charity called the Nature Conservancy. She explained, “I was unbelievably nervous,” adding that, “I was so scared because answering questions in a public format is,...

‘Family Guy’s Dean Cain Joke Is Aging Like a Fine Wine
Image
Loads of Family Guy jokes haven’t aged well over the years. In fact, some might argue that certain jokes aged terribly before they ever made it to the air. But one brief gag about a certain ex-tv star continues to be more relevant than ever.

No, not the one about Bob Ross threatening to murder people.

As we’ve mentioned before, now that there’s a new Superman movie, a lot of news outlets have been speaking with ex-Man of Steel Dean Cain. The star of TV’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman recently told TMZ that the character had gone “woke,” complaining Superman no longer brags about enforcing the “American way” while also arguing that the 2025 Superman shouldn’t have used the familiar superhero story as an allegory for immigration.

Those dumb statements seemed especially dumb once people started sharing clips of Cain’s Superman on social media,...

Dean Cain Is Still Flying High: ‘Lois & Clark’ Heartthrob Tells All on Supporting Trump, Opposing ‘Woke’ Superman and Overcoming Sexual Harassment
Image
Dean Cain is about to pull off a lightning-fast costume change that would impress even Superman. Standing in front of an infinity pool overlooking a golf course and the Las Vegas Strip in the distance, the actor is wearing a faded gray T-shirt, gym shorts and no shoes. A Greek Orthodox cross and a military dog tag hang from a chain around his neck. The man who played the Man of Steel and his alter ego, Clark Kent, on the trailblazing series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” needs to morph into something camera ready.

“I’m gonna have to go put on a jacket and a shirt and leave my shorts behind,” he says as he pops a tangerine-flavored nicotine lozenge in his mouth and heads upstairs for a Zoom appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” to discuss the latest “Superman,” two days before it unspools in theaters.

12 Superman Easter eggs and references you may have missed
Image
After years of underwhelming releases and an overall lack of cohesion in storytelling, DC bounced back with a bang on July 11 with James Gunn’s reliable, comic book-loving direction.

Superman, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, was loved by fans and critics alike. From incredibly positive early reviews to a $125 million domestic opening weekend, Gunn’s film soared to a summer blockbuster status while delivering a promising revival of the Dcu.

In the movie, Gunn drops us into an existing universe where metahumans are already established. Instead of seeing Kal-El land on Earth in his Kryptonian spaceship, we catch him on just another day in Metropolis—a nod to Gunn’s experience of reading Superman comic books.

However, what the movie does not say out loud in as many words, it makes up for with Easter eggs.

Marvel's Fantastic Four And James Gunn's Superman Have More In Common Than You'd Think
Image
Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a spoiler warning for both "Superman" and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps."

It's a good time for superheroes. For a little while, a string of dull, poorly written, hastily produced movies gave audiences genre fatigue and threatened to bring down the whole superhero cinematic industrial complex. This summer, however, is different. Though not every movie has been a box office winner, we have seen the most sincere and earnest superhero movies in years come out in a short timespan. Though many fans would like to think DC and Marvel are polar opposites, more often than not, they reflect one another. At the very least, that's the case with James Gunn's "Superman" and the new, more hopeful, optimistic, and cosmic take on Marvel's first family in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps."

Though the two movies are very different — one kickstarts its cinematic universe,...

'Family Guy' Sets New Halloween & Holiday Specials
Image
It seems today that all you see is violence in movies and not many animated Halloween and holiday specials. There used to be a time when TV was filled with holiday-themed specials and episodes. From spooky plots that reveal why it's never a good idea to visit a haunted house where a family vanished a hundred years ago, to celebrating the true meaning of giving during Thanksgiving and Christmas, that holiday spirit needs to be back. Family Guy is one of those animated series bringing back a beloved tradition of specials, and yes, there's music involved, because Brian's voice deserves to be on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

According to Variety, Family Guy Halloween and Holiday specials are returning to Hulu. It'll start with spooky vibes on October 6, 2025, with the Halloween special "A Little Fright Music." Best friends Brian and Stewie are on a mission to write a hit song, and not just any single,...

Seth MacFarlane's Most Controversial Series Is Getting 2 More Holiday Specials
Image
Hulu comes strong for Halloween grabs each year, and as it turns out, 2025 isn’t going to be any different. Seth MacFarlane’s most provocative and unapologetic creation, Family Guy, is expanding its Hulu-exclusive lineup with two new holiday specials. It starts with a Halloween episode titled “A Little Fight Music,” premiering Monday, October 6 — the title for the second special is not yet unveiled. The specials will be separate from Family Guy Season 24, which will air in 2026.

As per Variety, the news comes after it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 on July 26. The Halloween episode features Brian and Stewie writing a Halloween hit due to the “shortage of quality Halloween songs,” while Peter and friends face dark consequences from faking trick-or-treating. This continues Hulu’s direct collaboration with 20th Television Animation, separate from the show’s traditional Fox broadcast schedule. It is also not Family Guy’s first exclusive for Hulu.

'Family Guy' Just Announced the Return of This Fan-Favorite Tradition at Sdcc
Image
Family Guy is heading back into spooky territory this fall, and it’s doing so with a ninth Halloween-themed special that will premiere exclusively on Hulu. Announced during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, the new Halloween episode — titled “A Little Fright Music” — will debut on Monday, October 6, marking the second year in a row the long-running animated series has produced a holiday special just for streaming. In “A Little Fright Music,” Brian and Stewie set out to write a Halloween hit after realizing there’s a severe lack of spooky bangers in the seasonal playlist. Meanwhile, Peter and the guys make the mistake of lying about trick-or-treating, which — in true Family Guy fashion — snowballs into deadly consequences. Whether it’s ghosts, goblins, or just Peter’s bad judgment, someone is definitely going to pay.

This installment follows 2024’s Hulu-exclusive Halloween special, which featured a killer twist: Stewie’s beloved teddy bear,...

Superman: Hall of Justice Mural Reveals 10 More Superheroes For James Gunn's Dcu
Image
James Gunn's Superman did a lot to set up the future of the Dcu. However, it wasn't just Maxwell Lord's corporate-sponsored superheroes led by Guy Gardner, but a whole untapped history of superheroes in the background.

When Lois went to seek help from the Justice Gang in a refurbished Hall of Justice (represented by the famed Cincinnati Union Terminal), the real-life Winold Reiss murals inside were replaced by ones seemingly depicting the history of superheroes in the Dcu. They show heroes from as far back as the 1940s and as late as the 1990s.

Until the murals are officially released, fans like X user @dinahspolly eyeballed those in the theater or used other means to help decipher which superheroes made it onto the murals. While some blurry figures are still up for debate, 10 identifiable superheroes are honored in the Dcu's Hall of Justice.

James Gunn Teases Lois Lane Might Get Powers in the Dcu
Image
In a new interview, James Gunn teased that Lois Lane could get superpowers in the Dcu. The DC Comics staple, played by Rachel Brosnahan in Gunn's new Superman reboot, has been known to get powers from time to time in the comics; however, that has never been seen on-screen. Instead, like in the new film, Lois often serves as the lead human character in the Man of Steel's on-screen adventures, being an enterprising journalist and the love interest of the franchise's titular Boy in Blue.

While oftentimes, Lois is relegated to a more boots-on-the-ground role in Superman films, Brosnahan's character broke new ground for the character on the silver screen, getting to indulge in some more out-there concepts like piloting Mister Terrific's (Edi Gathegi) spaceship-esque T-sphere ship.

Speaking to Wired, Superman director and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn discussed the possibility of Lois Lane getting powers in the Dcu.

Superman Is Saved by His Dog Krypto and Caped Robots in New James Gunn Trailer

After Superman’s dog Krypto flashed across the screen in the first trailer for James Gunn‘s Superman back in December, the pup of steel returned for an extended sneak peek at the upcoming DC Studios film arriving on July 11.

Two days after Warner Bros. closed its CinemaCon presentation with a lengthy conversation about James Gunn’s Superman and new footage from the forthcoming superhero movie, the studio debuted the lengthy clip online.

In the footage, an injured Superman (David Corenswet) calls for his dog, Krypto, who saves the Man of Steel and drags him back home to Superman's Fortress of Solitude. Once inside, a quartet of chatty robots help Superman get to a place where the sun can help him recover from the injuries.

Watch the extended Superman preview online below.

At CinemaCon on Tuesday, Gunn and cast members David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult revealed their inspirations for the forthcoming blockbuster.

Why Does Seth MacFarlane Seem Frightened By ‘Family Guy’s Mega-Renewal?
Image
Yesterday, Fox secured massive renewal contracts with all of their beloved animated comedies in one fell swoop that has cartoon fans rejoicing — and Seth MacFarlane sweating.

Despite the network’s storied history of supporting the top adult animated comedies on television, up until yesterday, this ongoing Fox schedule majorly concerned fans of Family Guy, The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers alike as all three animated monoliths faced the end of their contracts with Fox following the conclusion of their current seasons. With Disney ramping up their Simpsons activity with streaming-exclusive specials while cable television itself looks like it’s on life support, some cartoon fans worried that the bigwigs at Fox wouldn’t be able to justify continuing to carry all three expensive legacy franchises to its shareholders.

Thankfully for us comedy-watchers, Fox proved the doubters wrong with a mega-deal that will lock in the future of all three shows for four more years.

Family Guy: Four Year Renewal; Seth MacFarlane Comedy Renewed on Fox Through 2028-29
The Griffins are staying put on Fox, at least through the 2028-29 TV season. The network has renewed Family Guy for four more years, aka seasons 24-27. The comedy's 23rd season is currently airing.

An animated comedy series, Family Guy stars voice actors Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Seth Green, Patrick Warburton, and Arif Zahir. The series follows the stereotypical sitcom dad, Peter Griffin (MacFarlane). Overweight and a kinda dim, Peter is close to his family but is also a heavy drinker. A piano teacher, wife Lois (Borstein) is a stay-at-home mother and usually ends up being the impatient voice of reason. An outcast at school, 18-year-old Meg (Kunis) is the family's preferred dumping ground. Overweight like his dad, 13-year-old Chris (Green) is socially awkward and clueless, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. The baby of...

Superman Director James Gunn Talks Lex Luthor Backstory, "Monster Babies," And Writing An Original Story
Image
Hype for Superman is rapidly building, though Warner Bros.' underwhelming CinemaCon panel hasn't contributed much to it.

Those in attendance have complained that the presentation as a whole was boring, lamenting the fact they were only shown the 5-minute preview set to play in front of A Minecraft Movie this weekend.

Entertainment Weekly spoke with James Gunn in Las Vegas and asked the filmmaker whether he based Superman on a specific comic book storyline.

"I would say it's an original story, but the tone and the look of the film, in many ways, is inspired by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman," he shared. "I read that comic book, and it really has this feeling of the big, old-school, science-fiction Silver Age comics. We have robots and monster babies and giant kaiju and all of that stuff."

"But that is also grounded around these incredibly real relationships...

Superman - James Gunn's Spoiler Free Description Of The Film's Beginning
Image
Warner Bros made their presence very clear at CinemaCon yesterday. First looks at The Bride!, a fresh take on The Bride of Frankenstein that stars Jessie, Buckley, Christian Bale, and Penelope Cruz, and will also be a musical, Final Destination: Bloodlines, Mortal Kombat II, The Conjuring: Last Rites, and F1, Brad Pitt’s driving heavy drama, were all shown.

Of course, the main attraction was Superman, the film that will kickstart a new era for DC under DC Studios, James Gunn, and Peter Safran. Gunn reportedly gave a brief description of how the movie will begin at CinemaCon and it sounds very interesting.

“He is starting to become successful (at both jobs) in the big glitzy city so far away from home,

He’s madly in love with a woman who isn’t so sure about him.

And he’s made a few superhuman friends who like him but think of him as naive.

‘Superman’ Stars Unveil Krypto-Heavy New Footage and Recall “Witnessing the Magic of Cinema”
Image
CinemaCon believed a man can fly on Tuesday as DC Studios head James Gunn showed off an extended look at Superman. The film is a make-or-break moment for DC, which has an ambitious slate, much of which depends on Superman working at the box office this summer.

Gunn appeared alongside his DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran, while stars David Corenswet (Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) also took the stage.

Previously unseen footage showed Superman getting assistance from a particularly rambunctious Krypto, who eventually drags him into the Fortress of Solitude. A number of lines were greeted with laughter from the crowd.

After Superman thanks a robot crew for their help, one of them replies, “No need to thank us, sir, as we will not appreciate it.”

From the stage, Gunn shared, “I cannot wait to share the film with all you guys and the rest of the world.

Superman: David Corenswet Talks Pressure And Potential Legacy As Kal-El; James Gunn Shares New Story Details
Image
Superman is likely to be a big part of Warner Bros.' CinemaCon presentation later this evening, and as the movie's marketing campaign begins to pick up pace, the Dcu's Man of Steel, David Corenswet, has discussed the role with Time.

While playing a superhero was once a guarantee of success for actors, apparent "superhero fatigue" means these movies are no longer surefire hits. And for misfires like Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter, the damage done to the careers of those who led them is significant.

Corenswet is well aware of that and the pressure a role like Superman brings. He also knows that there's a very good chance he'll only ever be remembered for playing the Man of Tomorrow. And he's okay with it.

James Gunn Reveals the One Rule David Corenswet Had to Follow to Become Superman
Image
David Corenswet is stepping into the role of Superman, but before he was offered the part, director James Gunn had one important rule for him: he had to treat everyone on set with kindness and respect. Gunn explained that he had worked with actors like Chris Pratt and John Cena, who were always kind to the cast and crew.

He wanted the same from Corenswet. “I’ve seen sets that cater to an actor or director’s ego, and that’s just not something that would happen with David,” Gunn said.

Corenswet, 31, is preparing for the biggest role of his career. He knows that playing Superman will define him. “Would this be worth doing if this was the only thing I do as an actor for the rest of my life? I think the answer is yes,” he said.

One of the most important parts of the film is the...

Why The Malcolm In The Middle Revival Replaced Dewey's Actor
Image
"Malcolm in the Middle" is one of the best sitcoms of the 2000s. It's a chaotic, delightfully weird, absurd, and darkly funny comedy about the most dysfunctional family on TV. This is not a simple case of "parents just don't understand," but, rather, a case of deeply flawed grown-ups way in over their heads who also have to deal with having the spawns of Satan for kids.

What made the show so special was its cast. Sure, it's easy to say a series that lasted for seven seasons did so because it had a great ensemble, but "Malcolm in the Middle" was truly perfect in this regard. Whether it's Bryan Cranston being the God of Sweet Buffoons as the patriarch Hal (a role so good it almost cost Cranston his chance at starring in "Breaking Bad") or Justin Berfield basically playing a live-action Bart Simpson as Reese (think about it...

Here’s How One ‘Family Guy’ Episode Revived Interest in This Canadian Music Legend
Image
Thanks to Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy’s appreciation for adult contemporary music from the 1970s, Nova Scotian singer Anne Murray found a new audience with members of Stewie’s generation.

The relationship between Family Guy and the music world has always been a close one that excites and confuses fans of both the show and of Conway Twitty alike. MacFarlane’s entire oeuvre is inextricably tied to his background as a trained and talented crooner, and his appreciation for the popular music of generations past that has since fallen out of fashion with the Family Guy demographic has long encouraged younger viewers and listeners to develop an appreciation for classic showtunes, Frank Sinatra Jr. and, of course, Murray, whose appearance as herself in the 2013 Family Guy episode “Chris Cross” sparked a resurgence of youthful interest in early Canadian pop music.

This past Sunday, Murray, 79, accepted a lifetime achievement award...

After 27 Years, Family Guy's Unaired Pilot Episode Is No Longer Lost
Image
When Seth MacFarlane's "Family Guy" premiered on January 31, 1999 after Super Bowl Xxxiii, it got an artificial ratings bump right out of the gate that was going to be difficult for the animated series to maintain. Indeed, after finishing its first season at 33rd in the Nielsen ratings (with only seven episodes), the show's viewership evaporated during its second season and fell off even more during its third season. Almost no one was watching, so Fox pulled the plug on the series in 2002. Three years later, thanks to a surge in popularity driven by Adult Swim syndication, Fox gave "Family Guy" another shot, and it appears that it is never, ever going away. This may or may not delight you.

In any event, we have gone 26 years with "Family Guy" in our lives, and while the state of the world has been in drastic decline over this period, you can't...

4 Years Later, Warner Bros. Scrapping Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2 Is Still the Best Decision the Studio Made
Image
Quick LinksHow Warner Bros. Abandoned the Dceu Before It Even StartedHow the Justice League Sequels Would Have Changed the DCEUWhy It's a Good Thing the Justice League Sequel Wasn't MadeThe Dceu Legacy Is Made Stronger, Despite the Treatment of Zack Snyder

Had Warner Bros. Discovery's plans for the DC franchise not change so drastically, Justice League 2 from director Zack Snyder would have hit theaters. The studio and its previous regimes chose not to make Snyder's sequel to the Justice League movie, and it is perhaps the best decision executives made in a series of terrible ones. The embattled Warner Bros. Discovery continues to face criticism from fans of the Dceu, and the current campaign demands that the studio sell the Snyderverse to Netflix so that the director can complete his vision.

Making the Dceu of old Netflix's problem would earn them some revenue, but even that is a risky proposition.

Why Superman's First Live-Action Actor Went Uncredited, Explained
Image
As James Gunn's highly anticipated reimagining of "Superman" soon approaches, it's imperative to pay tribute to the many big screen incarnations of the DC superhero that paved the way for David Corenswet's arrival. We wouldn't be at this exciting new stage for the Man of Steel without George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill. While it would be easy to regale you with stories from their respective tenures, there's another actor absent from this incredible bunch that never quite got the flowers he deserved.

Theatergoers of the early '40s already had a taste of "Superman" with the stunning Fleischer cartoons, but in 1948, they received their first live-action glimpse of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's creation in the form of the vaudevillian-trained Kirk Alyn.

The 15-part serial from Columbia Pictures and its 1950 follow-up "Atom Man Vs. Superman" saw Alyn play the Clark Kent/Superman dynamic...

The Fierce Rivalry Between General Hospital’s Brook Lynn and Lulu
Image
Brook Lynn and Lulu — the secrets, betrayals, and family drama — that has led to the rivalry on General Hospital.

Past, Present, Future

In June 2010, Carly (Laura Wright) hired Brook Lynn (then played by Adrienne Leon) to break up Lulu (then played by Julie Marie Berman) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). Carly was upset that Dante, a cop, had exposed Michael’s (Chad Duell) role in Claudia’s (Sarah Joy Brown) murder. Brook Lynn drugged Dante and made it look like they had slept together, but the plan ultimately failed when Dante remained loyal to Lulu. Lulu found out about Brook Lynn’s scheme in September 2010 and confronted her, leading to a major blowout between them. Lulu saw her as a manipulative liar. By early 2011, Brook Lynn left town, but the damage to their relationship was already done.

Brook Lynn (now played by Amanda Setton) returned to Port Charles in November 2019, now more business-focused but still fiery.

'Malcolm in the Middle' Star Bryan Cranston Teases a "Different Dynamic" in the Disney+ Reboot
Image
Academy Award nominee Bryan Cranston has teased what’s to come in the now official revival of the beloved sitcom Malcolm in the Middle...and it sounds like there are some big changes coming. Cranston played the well-meaning but delightfully silly father, Hal, throughout the entirety of Malcolm in the Middle, with the role being his best-known before he became the unassuming drug kingpin Walter White, Aka Heisenberg, in the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad.

Now, speaking with Variety, Cranston has revealed his eagerness to return for more Malcolm in the Middle, with the actor having wanted to do it for years. Teasing some “really fun, terrific ideas” in the Disney+ sequel series, Cranston says there will be some major changes to the family...though a few things will remain the same.

The Monkey (2025)
The Monkey (2025) Movie Ending Explained: Was the toy monkey truly responsible for all the deaths?
The Monkey (2025)
Returning to directing—this time without a huge hiatus—Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey (2025) is a slight departure from his moody, horrific Longlegs. The black comedy horror leans more heavily on the inevitability of death, taking an existential look at why everyone is so scared to die and how we have no control over it. Based on a Stephen King short story and starring Theo James in dual roles as two brothers who come to believe that a toy monkey is against their family, killing everyone off. The Monkey is a pretty straightforward horror comedy, but it does come with an ending that might confuse a lot of audiences.

So, in the following article, I will take a detailed look at every aspect of the movie and discuss how and why we get to that wild ending point. Please be aware that the article will be full of spoilers.

‘The Monkey’ Movie Ending Explained & Symbolisms: Did The Toy Kill Bill And Hal?
Image
There were a few things that The Monkey’s ending didn’t reveal: where did the toy come from? What did the supernatural clockwork monkey want? And why did it kill random people every time it was wound up? Apparently, there’s no answer to these questions, neither in the movie nor in the Stephen King short story on which the film is based. However, if you ask me what the monkey represented, then yes, I might have an answer to that one. [Spoiler Alert] In both Hal and his twin brother Bill’s cases, the toy can be seen as a manifestation of evil. You might have heard the famous saying, evil begets evil, that’s exactly what happened with the brothers. The supernatural entity only grew stronger the more the brothers resented each other. This could better be explained using a line from Stephen King’s story where Hal, the protagonist,...
