  • He was posthumously awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Television at 6743 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on March 31, 1988. His Walk of Fame star is located next to his wife Betty White's star.
  • He and his first wife had three children: David Ludden, Martha Ludden and Sarah Ludden.
  • He met his wife, Betty White, a couple of times on Password, but while performing in the play "Critic's Choice" their relationship blossomed.
  • During World War II, he served in the United States Army as officer in charge of entertainment in the Pacific theater, received the Bronze Star Metal, and was discharged with the rank of captain (1946).
  • Recipient of the Horatio Alger Award (1961).
  • Received his Bachelor of Arts degree (1940) and his Master of Arts degree (1941) from the University of Texas at Austin.
  • Following his death, he was interred at Graceland Cemetery in his hometown Mineral Point, Wisconsin. He passed away on June 9, 1981, 119 days away from what would have been his 62nd birthday on October 5.
  • Had a half brother, Franklin Charles Ludde,n who died in 2011 at the age of 89.
  • His mother, Leila Allen Ellsworth Ludden, died in 1986.
