The Theatrical Comedy Is So Back: Kristen Wiig and Jonah Hill Will Star as Freeloading Siblings in WB’s ‘Cut Off’
Image
Straight-up comedies have struggled to find a foothold in theaters since the pandemic, but after last weekend’s encouraging “The Naked Gun” launch and this weekend’s promising “Freakier Friday” prospect, it looks like studios are ready to invest in comedy all over again.

Variety has shared that Kristen Wiig — the “SNL” alum who powered one of the ’10s most successful laughers, “Bridesmaids” — will co-star with Jonah Hill as siblings in the upcoming Warner Bros. release “Cut Off.”

The pair will play adult siblings forced to adjust to real life after their parents stop paying for them. Ezra Woods co-wrote with Hill, who will also direct. “Cut Off” will hit theaters on July 17, 2026, placing it as counter programming to “The Odyssey,” which — of course — already has sold out advance IMAX screenings for that date, 11.5 months ahead of its actual release.

Wiig will return to live action features for the first...

Now, as we are heading to the 20th anniversary of this remake’s release, Arrow Video have restored and transferred this film to deluxe 4K UltraHD.

What Is The Map That Leads to You Based On?
Image
The Map That Leads to You is adapted from Joseph Monninger’s 2017 novel of the same name. It centers on Heather, a new graduate whose carefully organized European tour is upended when she unexpectedly meets Jack. Here, Madelyn Cline, popular from her role in Outer Banks, plays Heather, and Kj Apa plays Jack. Their pairing – teased in a mid-July trailer – has fans watching for chemistry, that heirloom travel journal, and sun-washed settings.

The ensemble also includes Sofia Wylie, Madison Thompson, Orlando Norman, and Josh Lucas, with Oscar-nominated Lasse Hallström directing from a script by Les Bohem and Vera Herbert. The trailer frames a summer story about plans and secrets, staying close to the book’s risk-versus-routine idea. Interestingly, the author has also explained how he built Heather and Jack around “plan vs. detour.”

Adam Levine’s Iconic Maroon 5 Song Lyrics Might’ve Inspired New Prime Video Original
Image
The Voice judge and Maroon 5 member Adam Levine has given us numerous iconic songs that continue to remain popular years after their release. One such song is the lead single from their studio album, V, which broke records upon its release and debuted at the top of several charts across the world. The song talks about following a “map” to find a person they love, no matter where they are.

If you haven’t guessed it yet, of course, we are talking about Maps. A song about not giving up on someone even when they are gone, it has a catchy tune, but is deeply emotional and tragic. While there is no explicit connection established, many believe the song seems to have inspired Prime Video’s latest rom-com, The Map That Leads to You.

Josh Lucas’ Messy Romantic History: On and off Relationship With Ex-wife, Cheating Claims, and Scandalous Armie Hammer Connection
Image
Yellowstone’s young John Dutton, aka Josh Lucas, has just tied the knot with meteorologist Brianna Ruffalo in a picture-perfect Vatican City ceremony. Still, his road to this romantic chapter hasn’t exactly been smooth. The Sweet Home Alabama star’s dating life has long been a tabloid magnet, especially his on-and-off relationship with ex-wife Jessica Ciencin Henriquez.

Though their post-divorce phase turned messy when Henriquez accused him of ‘cheating,’ adding, (via People),

It takes a really shit human to cheat on their partner (correction: now ex partner) in the middle of a pandemic. Thank you for reminding me why I left you in the first place. I deserve better than this.

On top of everything in Lucas’s past love life, even a brief Armie Hammer connection with Henriquez brought chaos. While Ruffalo may now be Mrs. Lucas, the past he leaves behind is still tangled.

Josh Lucas Vatican Wedding: Who Is the Yellowstone Actor’s Spouse?
Image
Josh Lucas, best known for Yellowstone flashbacks and Sweet Home Alabama, wed fiancée Brianna Ruffalo in one of the world’s most fabled locations, the Vatican City. On July 18, the couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony deep inside the heart of St. Peter’s.

Lucas opted for a classic, sharply tailored black tuxedo, a white shirt, and a tie. Standing beside him, Ruffalo looked flawless in a strapless Italian‑lace gown featuring a structured bodice. And to tie it all up perfectly, her loose waves fell softly around her shoulders along with a fingertip veil.

The ceremony was an intimate affair, beautifully captured by photographer Caterina Errani, with every detail of the wedding brought to life by Italian wedding planner Paolo Nassi. Lucas later described the day as “a dream” on Instagram, while Ruffalo summed it up simply, “Mr. and Mrs.”

Review: Kenneth Lonergan’s ‘You Can Count on Me’ on Criterion 4K Uhd Blu-ray
Image
The characters in writer-director Kenneth Lonergan’s films live as much with grief as within it. In You Can Count on Me, specifically, grief feels ossified within the bones of siblings Sammy (Laura Linney) and Terry (Mark Ruffalo), whose parents were killed in a car accident when they were children. It’s a tragedy whose effects Lonergan details with profound compassion and startling specificity.

Sammy and Terry would appear to have been etched as stark contrasts. The tightly wound Sammy finds meaning, solace, and stability in religion and her dull but secure job at a local bank in the town in which she grew up. By contrast, Terry drifts around the country, unmoored from family and community, the cruelties of life are clearly ever-present in his mind.

But Lonergan isn’t content to present these siblings as mere polar opposites. After Terry arrives in town for a visit, initially only...

Is Taylor Sheridan a Republican? ‘Yellowstone’ Creator’s Politics Is Surprisingly Paradoxical
Image
Taylor Sheridan isn’t riding for the red or the blue team, at least not publicly. The man behind Yellowstone and its sprawling universe of spinoffs has been pegged by many as a conservative voice in Hollywood. But he refuses to be branded with any political label. Republican? Democrat? He might laugh at the question. While critics brand his wildly successful Yellowstone as “red-state Game of Thrones,” Sheridan fiercely rejects that characterization. In his words:

They refer to it as ‘the conservative show’ or ‘the Republican show’ or ‘the red-state Game of Thrones.’ And I just sit back laughing. I’m like, ‘Really?’

It’s easy to see why the assumption persists. His shows feature tough-talking ranchers, heavy gunplay, and a stoic reverence for old-school masculinity, a cocktail that’s earned him a massive following in rural, right-leaning America. But scratch beneath the surface, and the politics get complicated. Sheridan...

Image
Amazon MGM Studios is offering a one-way ticket to romance, as they have unveiled the trailer for next month’s The Map That Leads to You, based on the novel of the same name by J.P. Monninger.

The Map That Leads to You marks Swedish director Lasse Hallström’s first American feature since 2018’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, although he also helmed 2022’s Helma in his native country and TV series The Darkness ahead of this. While this upcoming feature isn’t based on a Nicholas Sparks novel (as with 2010’s Dear John and 2013’s Safe Haven), it does have a similar vibe that might benefit quite well from catching an adjacent audience.

Here is the official plot of the film, as per Amazon MGM Studios: “In this coming of age story, The Map That Leads to You follows Heather (Madelyn Cline), a young woman on a post-grad Europe trip with her friends.

Matthew McConaughey's 83% Fresh Crime Film With a Secret Bosch Connection Is Blowing Up on Streaming
Image
In 2011, Matthew McConaughey starred as Mickey Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer. As the legal crime movie finds new success on streaming, fans may be surprised to learn about the connection between Mickey Haller and the hit Prime Video series Bosch.

Both The Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch are based on best-selling novel series by writer Michael Connelly. However, the connection doesn't stop there, as Connelly's Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch book series take place in the same shared universe, with Haller and Bosch depicted as half-brothers. Unfortunately, due to the rights held by different studios, this familial connection has not yet been replicated on screen, which is unfortunate given how popular the Bosch Universe is on its own. As for The Lincoln Lawyer, while the movie was a modest box office hit, grossing $87 million worldwide, it's currently climbing the charts on Paramount+. Per FlixPatrol, the 2011 movie is ranked No. 4 on the...

Emily Bett Rickards in Queen of the Ring (2024)
Queen Of The Ring

Ash Avildsen's Queen Of The Ring, based on Jeff Leen's 2009 biography, Queen Of The Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, And The Making Of An American Legend, is based on the real-life story of pioneering female wrestler, Mildred Burke, played by Emily Bett Rickards.

Unfortunately for ambitious single-mother Mildred Burke, women's wrestling is illegal across the United States. When she persuades wrestling heel Billy Wolfe (Josh Lucas) to train her how to wrestle, neither can imagine that they're set to make women's wrestling respectable. From shows at carnivals to sold out professional venues, they took women's wrestling to heights no one could have foreseen. However, Burke's complicated and sometimes violent relationship with Wolfe tells of the behind-the-scenes struggle for this trailblazer to hold onto her fair share of the prize.

Emily Bett Rickards is known for playing Felicity Smoak in Arrow (2012-2020), The Flash (2014-2023), Legends Of Tomorrow.

Paul Rudd Almost Lost His 'Clueless' Role Over a Haircut
Image
One of Paul Rudd's most memorable movie roles nearly didn't happen. On the latest episode of Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the actor recalled his audition for Amy Heckerling's Clueless, where he was asked to read for the part of Josh Lucas, and how a spontaneous decision could have cost him his big break. After the audition, Rudd dramatically changed his appearance by chopping his long locks down to a buzz cut, which came as a shock to the director, who was considering offering him the role before seeing the haircut. Ugh! As if!

"I wasn't thinking about it, [and] I was walking past a barbershop and I went in and said, 'Just buzz my head,'" Rudd revealed. "A week later, I went into a restaurant and Amy Heckerling, who directed the movie, was eating there. She looked at me and froze, and she goes, 'What did you do?...

“Let the hero be this drunken, vicious killer”: Taylor Sheridan Admitted Clint Eastwood’s Influence on Yellowstone Characters
Image
Have you watched Unforgiven? That gritty, Oscar-clad gem of a Western? Yep, the same one Clint Eastwood both directed and starred in, with a razor-sharp script by David Webb Peoples. Now that it’s streaming on Paramount+, there’s no excuse to miss it. Why? Trust us, watching Unforgiven is like holding the skeleton key to Taylor Sheridan’s mind: once you’ve seen it, Yellowstone’s dark heart makes a whole lot more sense.

We all know Sheridan didn’t just reboot the Western genre: he grabbed it by the horns, doused it in bourbon, and dragged it back into morally murky territory. And the blueprint? Unforgiven! From the haunted eyes of John Dutton to the no-holds-barred warpath of Beth, it’s Eastwood’s DNA stitched into every frame.

'The White Lotus' Star Would Love To Lead 'American Psycho' Remake
Image
Patrick Schwarzeneggerhas shown some love towards an upcoming remake, revealing that he would like to have a part in it. The star of HBO's "resort people are the worst" series, The White Lotus, most likely saw his career go one step up after the success of Season 3, where he played an annoying rich young man who saw his insecurities arise while staying at the Thai branch of the hotel. Nevertheless, there's one specific role that Patrick is apparently seeking, and that is Patrick Bateman, the main character in the thrillerAmerican Psycho.

A reboot of American Psycho is currently in development, with Suspiria and Challengers director Luca Guadagnino at the helm. Casting for this new adaptation remains to be confirmed, and while Elvis' Austin Butler always seemed like an obvious frontrunner, Guadagnino has simply not talked about the new Patrick Bateman.

Casting the lead in American Psycho is not easy because...

Chloë Sevigny Pitched Luca Guadagnino To Reprise Her ‘American Psycho’ Role
Image
As Hollywood patiently awaits a new Patrick Bateman, one American Psycho (2000) alum wants to reprise their role.

Chloë Sevigny, who can next be seen in Luca Guadagnino‘s thriller After the Hunt, revealed she pitched the director on revisiting the character of Patrick’s secretary Jean in his upcoming adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 book.

“When I heard that [Guadagnino] was maybe doing it … I pitched to him that I should play Jean again, and that they do that reverse-aging on me,” she told IndieWire. “I thought that would be something that he would be into, conceptually having the same actress play the same part.”

Sevigny added, “But I don’t know. He said he was going to think of something else for me.”

American Psycho was a groundbreaking and controversial work when it was published in 1991, not only for its iconic Manhattan investment banker-turned-serial killer but also for its incredible...

American Psycho Casting Director Explains Why Austin Butler Is The Wrong Fit For The Remake
Image
Austin Butler was a front-runner for the lead role in the upcoming American Psycho remake since 2024. However, the original casting director believes the actor is all wrong for the role.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Kerry Barden said Butler is too good-looking to play Patrick Bateman. "I would cast Austin in [Jared Leto's] role because he's that beautiful, and that's why we cast Jared, is because he’s that beautiful," Barden explained. "Jared is certainly a great actor as well, and obviously, Austin has a lot of depth as an actor, too. But not every person has that kind of beauty."

Based on Bret Easton Ellis' 1991 novel of the same name, American Psycho was directed by Mary Harron, who co-wrote the film with Guinevere Turner.American Psycho starred Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, a high-power investment banker in New York City who spends the vast majority of his time obsessing over his appearance,...

'Always Sad About Remakes': Original American Psycho Creatives React to Franchise's Planned Reboot
Image
Christian Bale's American Psycho movie has earned itself a cult-like following, and now the film's original creative team have shared their thoughts about the recent news of a planned remake. Lionsgate and Luca Guadagnino are leading the new project.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, some of the original American Psycho's cast and creatives talked about how big of a challenge the remake will face in living up to the original. "On one hand, I am always sad about remakes," actor Matt Ross, who played one of Patrick Bateman's (Bale) co-workers in the film, said. Lionsgate has already said that Guadagnino's project will "offer a new vision" of the book's source material, rather than being a remake.

"That still feels like a business venture more than anything else, but being that it’s based on a book, there can be multiple interpretations, so why not?" Ross added. "I think...
